Toho Animation revealed at Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025 that a brand-new Godzilla anime series is officially underway. The project is being developed by Studio Orange, known for its work on Godzilla Singular Point (2021). It’s being developed in partnership with Thailand’s Igloo Studio, the team behind Netflix’s My Daemon (2023).

Bangkok, November 29, 2025 – Since its first appearance in 1954, the King of the Monsters “Godzilla”, has continued to captivate and astonish audiences not only in Japan but across the globe. Released in 2023, the most recent film Godzilla-1.0 became a tremendous hit both domestically and internationally, winning the 96th Academy Awards® for Best Visual Effects.

Meanwhile, the fifth Hollywood installment, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, surpassed 84.5 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue, further demonstrating the franchise’s unstoppable momentum. With over 70 years of legacy, the “Godzilla” franchise has announced a new film, “Godzilla Minus Zero”, under the direction of Takashi Yamazaki—reinforcing Godzilla’s enduring reign as King of the Monsters.

At “Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025”, TOHO animation revealed to audiences worldwide that a brand-new Godzilla animated series is officially in production, unveiling a piece of concept art.

For the first time in the franchise’s 70-plus-year history, a story centered on a boy who wields the power of Godzilla is set to launch as the newest “Godzilla” anime series! Produced by Orange × Igloo Studio!

The new “Godzilla” anime series announced on stage at Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025 is an unprecedented departure for the franchise, even including live-action films It introduces a bold new concept: a story where “a young boy who wields the power of Godzilla as the protagonist”—marking a groundbreaking moment in the franchise’s more than 70-year history. Produced by TOHO animation, this new project pairs Orange (the studio behind Godzilla S.P <Singular Point>) with Thailand’s rising animation studio, Igloo Studio, in a powerful collaboration.

In addition, the concept art revealed on stage depict a boy prepares to unleash an “Heat Ray” reminiscent of Godzilla. A boy who carries within him the power of a god of destruction that had always stood against humanity. Is he truly human, or … ? This bold first step for the series marks an exciting beginning—one that already leaves audiences eager for the story to be unveiled.

Keiji Ota, Senior Managing Executive Officer of TOHO; Head of the IP & Anime Group; and Chief Godzilla Officer (CGO), stated, “Throughout over 70 years of history, the existence of Godzilla has always reflected the spirit of each era. November 30th, 2025 update

Although information remains limited, the creators did tease a core premise involving a boy who gains the powers of Godzilla.

During the announcement, Keiji Ota, Toho’s Chief Godzilla Officer, unveiled early concept art that is seen above. He also made the following statement, which has been translated:

Godzilla has consistently served as a mirror reflecting the times throughout its over 70-year history since its birth. This film marks the series’ first attempt at a “boy imbued with Godzilla’s power,” allowing us to delve deeper into both the fear and hope of our present era. For TOHO animation, it represents a challenge to step into a new story.

No further information, such as release timing or the cast cast, has been announced yet.
