Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) and Fender Music Corporation Japan (FMCJ), in partnership with Toho, have officially announced a limited-edition collection honoring the 70th anniversary of Godzilla. This collaboration merges the guitar brand with the King of the Monsters, delivering three guitars:

  • Godzilla Stratocaster Blue
  • Godzilla Stratocaster Black
  • Limited Edition Masterbuilt Godzilla Stratocaster: handcrafted by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Andy Hicks, featuring artwork by illustrator Tom Neely

The Masterbuilt guitar features a monochrome Heisei series Godzilla on the front and a full timeline of the monster’s evolution on the back. In a special touch, the guitar can even unleash Godzilla’s legendary roar through an amp at the push of a button.

Beyond the guitars, the collection includes a 12-piece pick set, limited-edition F IS FOR FENDER x Godzilla apparel, and a Godzilla-themed signature drink at Fender’s Tokyo flagship store. In spring 2026, fans can also look forward to the Godzilla Distortion pedal.

FENDER PARTNERS WITH GODZILLA FOR A LIMITED-EDITION COLLECTION CELEBRATING GODZILLA’S 70TH ANNIVERSARY

Featuring Three Special Models from the Fender Custom Shop and Made-in-Japan line,
Plus Limited-Edition Apparel & Fender Cafe Collaboration Drink

TOKYO, JAPAN. (October 9, 2025) — Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) and Fender Music Corporation Japan (FMCJ) in partnership with Toho proudly unveil a landmark collaboration celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Godzilla. This unprecedented partnership brings together two cultural icons—the world’s leading guitar brand and the King of the Monsters—uniting their seven-decade legacies in a first-of-its-kind collection.

At the heart of the collection are three extraordinary guitars: the Limited Edition Masterbuilt Godzilla Stratocaster®—a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, hand-crafted by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Andy Hicks with artistic contributions from Los Angeles–based illustrator Tom Neely—and two stunning Made-in-Japan models, Godzilla Stratocaster® Blue and Godzilla Stratocaster® Black. Each guitar channels Godzilla’s iconic power and presence, delivering a bold fusion of music and cinematic history.

“My love for Godzilla began when I was very young—definitely my earliest fandom,” said Andy Hicks, Fender Custom Shop Master Builder. “This guitar unites my two greatest passions: Godzilla and the guitar. The front features the iconic Heisei-era Godzilla in monochrome as a tribute to its origins, while the back showcases Godzilla’s evolution across eras, from Shōwa to Heisei, Millennium, Shin Godzilla, and Godzilla-1.0. Every version holds special meaning for me, and I hope that you can feel the passion that went into this piece. My favorite detail is the special mechanism, with the push of a button, the legendary roar thunders through the amp – a true union between the King of Monsters and the ‘King of Guitars’”

“I first encountered Godzilla as a child watching late-night TV movies, and I’ve been a devoted fan ever since,” said Tom Neely, the Los Angeles–based illustrator behind the design of this special guitar. “For the front of the guitar, working with Andy Hicks, we featured a black-and-white Godzilla with a blue blast to complement the neck inlay, capturing the spirit of the Heisei-era films. For the back, to celebrate Godzilla’s 70th anniversary, we created a montage of seven Godzillas — from the 1954 original to Godzilla Minus One — and added neon paint that glows under black light for a dynamic effect. As a lifelong fan of music, Godzilla, and Japanese culture, I’m honored to have taken on my first custom-painted guitar for such a historic milestone.”

The collection further expands with the special-edition Fender® – Godzilla 12-piece pick set honoring this milestone anniversary. Additionally, fans visiting the Fender Flagship store in Tokyo can immerse themselves in the experience with exclusive F IS FOR FENDER apparel collaboration pieces and a limited-time Godzilla-inspired signature drink at the Fender Cafe, bringing this historic collaboration to life on stage, in-store, and beyond. And in the spring of 2026, the Godzilla Distortion pedal, unleashing a thunderous roar worthy of the King of the Monsters, will also be available at Fender authorized dealers in Japan.

First released in 1954, Godzilla explored powerful themes and left an indelible mark as Japan’s pioneering tokusatsu (special-effects) monster film. Its commanding presence and groundbreaking visual effects captivated audiences across Japan and around the globe, launching a venerable franchise that has continued to evolve till today.

From the Shōwa to Heisei and Millennium eras, Godzilla has continued to evolve over the decades. In 2016, Shin Godzilla became a nationwide cultural phenomenon in Japan, and in 2023, the 70th-anniversary film Godzilla Minus One captivated audiences not only in Japan but also on screens around the world. Even after all these years, Godzilla continues to evolve in diverse forms — from films and anime to comics and merchandise.

Now, the long-standing legacy of Godzilla meets Fender’s craftsmanship and spirit of innovation in the “Fender|Godzilla 70th Anniversary Collaboration Collection.” This collaboration brings together two cultural icons — one from the world of music and the other from film — celebrating Godzilla’s historic presence while inspiring musicians and fans around the globe.
