Godzilla is no stranger to collabs for video game titles. While GigaBash | Godzilla is probably the most remembered, Toho’s kaiju have also crossed paths via Evony: The King’s Return, Puzzles & Survival, The Ants: Underground Kingdom and more. Well another collab joins the list, as Godzilla is set to cross paths with Dave the Diver.
Dave the Diver X Godzilla
Available to download… literally right now, as it just released on May 23rd, 2024, the Godzilla collab is a free download for every version of the game. As a shocking turn of events, the DLC is truly free, with no microtransactions either. A surprising twist since the developer Mintrocket is a subsidiary of Nexon, who are also behind the mobile game Godzilla Defense Force.
Once downloaded, Burning Godzilla and Ebirah join the game. Although hazards for Dave, the two can also fight each other. While Dave the Diver is a mix of pixel art and polygons, the two kaiju are rendered via polygons.
In a surprise addition, Miki Saegusa also appears in the game. She’s decked out in the same outfit she wore in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993). Besides being an expert on both Godzilla and Ebirah in the DLC, Miki also mans a submarine. To fit in with the world, Miki is depicted via pixel art as the other human characters are.
Limited Availability and Trailer
As noted, Dave the Diver X Godzilla is a free download. In fact, you can download it on the Nintendo Switch or other platforms without even owning the game yet. While that might sound silly, it’s recommended as this collab is only available for a limited time. After six months, on November 23rd, 2024, the DLC will be gone. So for those on the fence about if they want the game or not, it might be worthwhile to download the DLC now just in case.

About Dave the Diver
First released on June 28th, 2023, over Steam, the game features the titular Dave the diver as he descends into the Blue Hole. Working with his friend Cobra and the chef Bancho, the trio aim to support a start up sushi establishment. Dave is tasked with finding fishing ingredients, seeking them in the Blue Hole which contains a wealth of exotic sea life, as well as helping at the restaurant in the evening. The game allows players to slowly upgrade Dave and his gear, making him more efficient overtime. In addition, players begin to encounter strange things in the Blue Hole as well…
In addition to Steam, the game was released on the Nintendo Switch on October 26th, 2023 and the Sony Playstation 4/5 on April 16, 2024.
