    [Continued from Match 95]

Godzilla led Rodan, Anguirus, and Gabara – against the ogre’s will – towards Tokyo. Already visible above the city was the Vortaak Mothership, the Xilien Mothership floating nearby as well, much to Godzilla’s surprise. The King of the Monsters hadn’t expected such an alliance to ever occur. The aliens who invaded the Earth, his territory, were often solo attacks with no connections between them. Before he could march forwards, the sea floor before him burst open, sending the Monster King falling backwards into the surf. He quickly arose from the water to see the colossal form of Megalon make himself known. The huge cockroach-like being clashed his drills together in threat and let out a loud roar of challenge. “You primitive insects are no threat to us,” droned the cold, emotionless voice of the being once known as Dr. Ted Hoffman. His once-human body hovered above the floor, now segmented and insect-like. His cold, dead eyes stared at the viewscreen before him. “And neither is your bladed beast. Our cyborg will make short work of yours, and then you will have only one option: Surrender to us or die.” (more…)

Minilla, the son of the Monster King himself, walked through the forests of Birth Island, simply enjoying the scenery. Life for the young kaiju was simple—until he got older, as there was no way his dad intended to take him out to fight. But that didn’t mean others on the island felt the same.

Minilla was startled to hear cackling behind him and turned to see Gabara towering over him. The young Godzilla jumped back, crying in fear, trying to avoid the bullying kaiju. Gabara cracked his knuckles and raised his fist to punch the little monster—only to suddenly stop, looking up and roaring before taking off in terror.

Minilla gave a small roar of relief and turned, expecting to see his father or brother—only to see a pair of Xilien ships floating in front of him. The tiny monster cocked his head, wondering what was going on and why that bully of his was so afraid of them. Suddenly, a pair of rainbow-colored beams descended from the ships. In the swirling light, two kaiju materialized: the hulking alien mutant Orga and the skeletal space monster Monster X.

Orga reared back with a bellowing roar that made Minilla cry out in terror and retreat, covering his ears. Orga had his own ship, naturally, but now he was too massive and his intellect too degraded to pilot it. Monster X looked at his partner, then at the tiny kaiju before him, cocking his head. Surely, both of them hadn’t been needed to kill this little thing. There had to be something they were missing.

Monster X looked around, seeing only Gabara in the distance, screaming in terror and trying to hide. Surely that wasn’t their target either. Finding nothing else, he decided to at least warm up on the little one while they waited—only to find the infant Godzilla missing. Monster X roared in surprise, looking to Orga and trying to get the dimwitted kaiju to tell him where Minilla had gone. The mutated behemoth merely pointed toward some nearby cliffs, not seeming to care—or even realize—that he’d let a target escape. That is, until Monster X smacked him over the head with his tail and roared at him to follow.

The two space monsters soon arrived at the bottom of the cliff, looking around for their prey. Monster X heard Minilla’s roar and looked up to see the little kaiju standing on top of the rather high cliff, waving. Monster X roared in anger and prepared to fire when he saw Minilla pointing behind him. The skeletal space monster turned just in time to be blasted in the face by an atomic ray, toppling him to the ground.

Orga turned to see what was happening, only for a slightly less developed atomic ray to hit him in the shoulder, blowing off a chunk of flesh and making him scream in agony. As his shoulder healed and Monster X stood up, they saw a very irritated Godzilla and Godzilla Junior glaring back at them.

Godzilla bellowed in rage, along with his elder son. How dare these two descend on his island home and push around his youngest child? They were going to pay. Junior looked up to his baby brother, roaring reassurances. Sure, he didn’t know Minilla that well yet, but no one messed with his family and got away with it.

Monster X flexed his claws and roared in fury—only to be staggered forward as a purple energy ray swept over his back. He looked up to see Rodan flying overhead with a screech, spinning around and hovering above his adoptive ‘brother’ and close ally. He didn’t like these intruders messing with his friends, and they would pay for it dearly.

Monster X and Orga roared, charging the trio of Earth’s protectors. Godzilla roared in response and swung around, bashing the alien mutant in the head, while Junior charged and headbutted Monster X in the chest. Rodan hung back for the time being.

The hulking behemoth was unfazed and roared, rearing up and lunging down to bite Godzilla’s shoulder, sinking his teeth into his genetic donor’s chest. But before he could begin absorbing genetic material, the monster king sank his claws deep into the thick neck of the abomination and bit down on Orga’s head, forcing the beast’s jaws off him. Keeping hold, Godzilla began pummeling the creature’s boxy head with his claws. Orga bellowed in surprise and wrapped his oversized claws around Godzilla’s ankles, heaving up and throwing him to the ground.

Orga reared back to slam Godzilla with his massive fists, only for maple-leaf dorsal spines to light up. The monster king fired a blue atomic ray that tore into his hunchback shoulder, blasting flesh and blood off as the beast howled in pain. Godzilla got to his feet, watching Orga’s wound regenerate at an outstanding rate.

The emerald green reptile swung around, smacking his tail into Monster X’s legs and toppling the space kaiju. Before the immature Godzilla could capitalize, the skeletal warrior threw his arms out, unleashing gravity bolts from his eyes and shoulder skulls, tearing into Junior’s flesh and causing him to retreat with a roar of pain. Monster X rose to his feet and leaped up, spinning around and backhanding Junior in the face. His tail followed, striking the green saurian again and sending the smaller Godzilla toppling to the ground. However, before the ghastly fighter could land, Rodan swooped in, slamming into his chest and knocking him hard onto his back.

Rodan did a loop and dove at the Xilien champion, bombarding him with his Uranium Heat Beam. As black-skinned monstrosity shrieked in pain, Rodan flew through the smoke of his own attack, landing on Monster X’s chest and repeatedly pecking at his enemy’s face. Reeling in surprise, the destructive warrior unleashed a barrage of Gravity Beams, blasting Rodan off and sending the mutated pteranodon crashing hard to the ground.

Before he could recover, another atomic ray from Junior struck him in the back, knocking him forward. As he turned around, Junior swung his tail, smashing it into Monster X’s cranium and sending him toppling to the ground.

Meanwhile, Godzilla clawed at Orga’s face, even gouging out the alien’s gleaming yellow eye, only for it to regenerate almost instantly. Having had enough, Orga pulled back his massive arm and slammed his fist into Godzilla, knocking the King of the Monsters off balance. The mutated alien seized the opportunity, swinging both huge fists and sandwiching Godzilla’s head between them, leaving the nuclear leviathan dazed.

Realizing he had a rare opening, the jaws of the mutant unhinged, splitting open wide as a grotesque membrane expanded outward like a demonic flower. Before Godzilla could recover, Orga lunged forward, engulfing his head and neck, the membrane constricting as it attempted to force him down his throat. Godzilla struggled, but Orga had him right where he wanted him, rapidly siphoning his DNA.

Orga would have smiled if he could—he felt his body changing, spines beginning to form on his back. But something was wrong. He suddenly realized that something wasn’t just being absorbed; something was leaving him.

Being a hybrid of an alien and Godzilla, Orga had radiation in his body, but to his shock, Godzilla was absorbing it.

Suddenly, Godzilla’s spines flashed red, and pulses of energy erupted from his body. A Spiral Ray burst forth, tearing through Orga’s back. The Millennian aberration bellowed in agony, releasing his target and stumbling away as his maimed body struggled to regenerate. But Godzilla didn’t give him the chance. Another Spiral Ray was unleashed, severing the entire left arm of the mammoth alien, sending the limb crashing to the ground. Orga howled, staggering backward. A third blast struck, reducing his left shoulder to a smoking ruin.

Godzilla roared and unleashed another devastating Spiral Ray. Orga’s chest exploded, his body convulsing violently. Finally, with one last, earth-shaking blast, Orga’s head and upper torso were obliterated, his form reduced to a burning husk.

Monster X managed to get back to his feet and turned to face Junior, throwing a punch into the young Godzilla’s gut, then another into his jaw, forcing him backward. Godzilla Junior snarled and swung his tail, sweeping Monster X’s legs out from under him. At that moment, Rodan dove down, smashing into the back of the bony beast’s head and sending him flipping head-over-heels, slamming face-first into a boulder.

The space monster groaned, slowly rising to his feet—only to be hit by twin energy blasts from Junior and Rodan. The combined attack struck Monster X’s chest, knocking him onto his back once again.

As Monster X tried to regain his footing, he saw Godzilla staring down at him. Junior stepped forward, followed by Rodan. He looked from one monster to the other, feeling something unfamiliar—terror.

He frantically searched for Orga, hoping for backup, but all he found was the burning remains of his former ally, now reduced to ash. Above, on the cliff, Minilla waved mockingly at him.

Monster X gulped. He was in trouble.

Godzilla, Junior, and Rodan unleashed their radioactive rays in unison. First, Monster X’s shoulder heads were blown off by the barrage. Then, his skeletal face was stripped of the flesh that had once covered it.

Godzilla motioned for his ‘family’ to step back as his body pulsed with crimson energy. Junior and Rodan wisely retreated. The suffering Monster X’s last sight was Godzilla’s Spiral Ray slamming into his skull, causing it to explode into a shower of bone fragments and flaming flesh.

Godzilla and his allies roared in victory. Minilla ran over and hugged his father’s leg. Godzilla placed a comforting hand on his son’s head, reassuring him.

Looking up, he saw the Xilien ships retreating. The Monster King knew this was far from over—his duty was far from finished.

He roared at Junior to protect his younger brother, then turned to Rodan, signaling for him to follow. His fierce roar echoed across the island, rousing a sleeping Anguirus—who had somehow managed to sleep through the entire battle. The armored kaiju awoke with a startled growl and hurried over.

As Junior led Minilla to safety, Godzilla noticed Gabara cowering nearby, praying that no one would attack him. Godzilla let out a sharp, commanding roar in his direction.

Gabara blinked and pointed to himself. Another fierce roar from Godzilla confirmed the order. The cat-like ogre yelped in surprise and quickly scrambled after the others as they dove into the ocean.

    Meanwhile, in the Xilien Mothership…

X stomped around, his face contorted in rage, throwing a tantrum. “That dumb mutant! We should’ve sent something smarter than him with Monster X! It’s all his fault!”

“Settle down, my friend,” a female voice said over a nearby monitor.

“Calm down?!” X shouted, storming over to the screen. “Your stupid plan just cost me my best monster! Why should I calm down?!”

“Because I’ve got something better for you,” the voice replied smoothly.

X immediately stopped his tantrum, his anger giving way to curiosity. The screen shifted, displaying something that made him grin.

    “Well… I guess that’s a good reason.”

    Gamera was horrified.

It had been several weeks since his battle with Legion. The insectoid alien had been a deadly foe, her cold cunning and emotionless determination nearly slaying the Guardian of the Universe. It was only through the desperate, last minute use of his ultimate weapon – the Mana Beam – that he was able to save both himself and the planet. But it was a double-edged blade. Although the all-mighty attack had allowed the terrapin defender to prevail over Legion, it had also left the Earth in a weakened state, deprived of Mana, creating the perfect environment for his mortal enemy – Gyaos, the Shadow of Evil and the very creatures he had been created to wipe out.

But it appeared something far worse had arisen.

The corpses of countless Gyaos littered the plains of Africa. Gamera soared overhead, propelled by two columns of blue flames. The terrapin’s noble green eyes were grim with duty. Whatever had killed the flying demons had to be found and stopped immediately. What unnerved the ancient protector most was not simply that the Gyaos were dead or even how many of them had fallen. It was how they were killed. The reptilian vultures were… melted, their cadavers burnt and half-dissolved, coated with a vile slime. The landscape below the airborne turtle was just as ominous. The usually life-filled savannas were dead and brown, the pure white color of skeletonized animals dotting the dark earth. The same foul black sludge blanketed the ground, its eye-watering scent hanging loftily in the air and making him nauseous. The Atlantean champion wanted more than anything to turn back and soak himself in cold seawater, but he couldn’t. He had a mission – to protect the Earth. And that was something he had no intention of failing at.

Even against the horror that was waiting for him.

There. The guardian beast angled himself downward, roaring towards the thing that had decimated the Gyaos. The twin jets of azure fire that powered the shelled protector’s flight ceased with a sputter of smoke. The flaps of skin that transformed the reptile’s arms into organic rudders retracted. As the turtle dropped from the sky, his strong legs swiftly emerged from their sockets and broke his fall. Gamera grumbled in surprise, nearly slipping on the acidic muck on the ground. The poisonous sludge dully burned the soles of his feet, leaving a painful tingling seeping into his thick skin. Regaining his footing, the shelled hero stared ahead, eyes like two hard emeralds. From a heap of corrosive slime that composed its body, the glowing crimson eyes of his unearthly foe gazed back. The tusked titan threw back his head in a roar of challenge. A fit of croaking laughter ringing out from the tower of living minerals he faced.

At the end of a broad trail of death and destruction, the Guardian of the Universe prepared to do battle with Hedorah, the Smog Monster.

Gamera made the first move. Three fireballs erupted from the turtle’s mouth in quick succession. The unstable spheres of plasma detonated on contact with Hedorah, throwing sludge from the decomposing creature’s body. Gurgling, the pollution-based lifeform stumbled back, dripping arms flailing in distress. Encouraged, the Atlantean hero strode forward, more fireballs ripping from his throat. Several explosions bloomed from Hedorah’s torso in response, pushing the corrosive creature back further. With one final round of fireballs, the oozing horror disappeared behind a curtain of smoke, body sizzling as it was flash-dried.

The seasoned fighter tensed, scanning the smoke for any sign of movement. Just how effective had his fireballs been? The sickening alien gave a bitter response in the form of a bolt of crimson energy that cut through the smoke and struck their foe’s neck. The terrapin clenched his jaws to hold pack a pained cry as pale green blood gushed from his unprotected skin. Croaking, Hedorah emerged from the smoke screen, arms stretched forward. Taking the reptile off-guard, the hideous giant grabbed the guardian’s armored shoulders in their acidic mitts. Gamera shrieked in pain as the deadly muck ate away at his shell, slowly revealing vulnerable flesh, struggling to find a way to take down his foe even in agony.

The creature’s chest was dusty and cracked from the fireballs. But even as he writhed under its toxic grip, the defender of the innocent could see that the dried layer of sludge was flaking away, revealing the slime beneath was unharmed, still wet, oily and dangerous. The guardian gritted his teeth. That wasn’t good. Staring Hedorah directly in the face, the turtle launched a fireball, blowing the Smog Monster’s scalp open and pushing the horrible thing away from him. Leaping back, Gamera growled and suspiciously eyed the now mutilated Hedorah as it stumbled back. The filthy mottled brown behemoth’s head began to reform, the ooze stitching itself back together. Having no real brain – or many other organs for that matter – the demon from a distant nebula could recover from injuries that would undoubtedly be mortal to any other creature.

The terrapin was in shock at this discovery. How could he possibly defeat such a monstrosity? The guardian’s round eyes hardened, as he took a heated breath. Even if this was a losing battle, it was one he’d see through to the end.

Throat filling with plasma, the Mana empowered hero launched a fireball. But the burning sphere barely left his tusked maw before another red energy bolt detonated it. As the fire and smoke cleared, the turtle found himself glaring at a cackling Hedorah. The defender of Earth’s lip twitched in anger. The toxic creature’s laughter stopped when a fireball exploded into its body, toppling it. Gamera rushed forward, another fireball forming in his jaws. As the terrapin prepared to blast it again, a corrosive loogie flew from the triphibian. The deadly spitball plopped onto the giant reptillian’s plastron with a dull sizzle. Before the champion could stop himself, the turtle slapped his hand over the acidic sludge.

     Big mistake.

Gamera jerked his hand back with a wail, the white gleam of bones peaking out from underneath dark flesh. As the Atlantean relic gripped his wrist in agony, the Smog Monster got to his feet and fired a crimson streak of might from just above his eye. The potent bolt struck the ground at his taloned feet, throwing up a cloud of sulfuric gas. The reptile released his hand and began pawing desperately at his eyes with his good hand. Cackling, Hedorah spat another sludge ball at the choking guardian. The lethal slime spattered over his ridged forehead, immediately eating away at flesh. Acting swiftly, the noble giant used his already damaged hand to wipe the ooze from his head. Knowing he was in deep trouble, the Guardian of the Universe went on the offensive.

The turtle’s legs vanished beneath a curtain of azure fire. Roaring from the ground at an almost vertical trajectory, the champion made a wild charge at the space ninja. The polluted being reeled back in shock. Just before he careened into the monstrosity, Gamera launched a fireball directly into Hedorah’s face and pulled up sharply. As the guardian rocketed straight up, the flames that powered his flight seared Hedorah’s falling shape with a great burst of steam.

Fire erupted from Gamera’s arm socket as he leveled off to a hover. The turtle gazed intently down at the toxic titan’s still body. The alien beast was now just a dry husk. The tusked turtle nodded in satisfaction. Moisture seemed to be this thing’s lifeblood, so he had taken that away. This battle was over.

The husk stirred, causing him to narrow his eyes. Or was it?

The Smog Monster’s shriveled body split open, a dark form flying from the dusty shell. The protector of the innocent snarled in hate as he recognized the creature. Although in a different shape, there was no doubt to the airborne object’s identity – Hedorah. The alien had abandoned its vaguely humanoid form in favor of a UFO shape, led by his oblong red eyes and leaving behind a sulfuric trail. Withdrawing his head into his armored shell, Gamera launched into a fiery pinwheel and gave chase. The gluttonous villian tried desperately to shake the terrapin, pulling sharp turns, steep dives and sudden climbs, but his foe was constantly behind him. The vile being finally settled on allowing the turtle to stay in his wake, hoping that the sulfuric gas it emitted would knock the guardian from the sky.

A wet hiss escaped from the general area that a mouth would usually be located. Gamera’s rapid rotation easily cut through the dangerous gas, dispersing it. The living flying saucer gave a warbling squawk of annoyance. Time for a change of plan. Banking, the foul creature spun around to rush at his foe head on. A bolt of crimson destruction shot from above an equally red eye. The attack simply bounced off the spinning carapace, Hedorah’s eyes widening in horror as it realized it was going to collide with the turtle and its dehydrating flames. The Smog Monster dropped quickly, trying to duck under the guardian. But the expert flyer did the same. The jagged edges of his shell acting as the teeth on a saw disk, the defending beast cleaved the flying rom in two, flames negating its acidic quality. With a gurgling howl, the two halves of the pollution beast’s body plummeted to the ground, landing with synchronized dull, wet thuds.

Spiraling downward, Gamera slowly spun to a halt, landing a safe distance from both the pieces of Hedorah. The reptilian protector was still suspicious. The monstrosity had proved extremely hard to kill before, so why should it be so easy now? His caution proved justified as the halves of Hedorah’s body disappeared in two bright flashes of pink light. As the light faded, identical frog-like beings were revealed – Hedorah’s initial terrestrial form. The two alien beasts were almost half of the giant terrapin’s size, but they proved just as full of surprises as their final form as one pounced with speed that defied its mass. The plasma powered hero quickly blasted it from the air with a fireball. The slimy quadruped fell with a shower of sparks and a wet squeal. The second creature also leapt, catching him off guard. It crashed into his chest, sending both giants sharply to the ground. The guardian took a moment to decide – and give thanks – that this form apparently wasn’t as toxic as the ones he had faced before, based on the fact that his flesh wasn’t burning from his bones.

    At least for now.

The second Hedorah had recovered, ashes and soot falling from its body. It sprung forward with a croaking cry, meeting its twin with a pink flash that drove a blinding whiteness deep into emerald eyes. The weight on the turtle’s armored chest suddenly doubled. As the ancient reptile slowly regained his vision, he could make out the cackling shape of the vile alien’s final form towering above him. An agonizing tingle was spreading across his scaly skin from simple contact with the Smog Monster. As croaking laughter filled the air, corrosive sludge began to ooze from the pollution creature’s body. Gamera’s emerald eyes filled with fear.

The deadly muck slowly slid down, small drips of it landing on the guardian’s shell with soft hisses. The Atlantean protector threw back his head with a scream as some of the acidic slime fell on his arm, eating through straight to the bone. Fiery energy boiled in his core from a spike of pure adrenaline. A fireball began forming in his tusked maw. But the sphere of unstable power exploded in the terrapin’s jaws, courtesy of a red energy bolt from Hedorah. Gamera grunted in pain as his head was slammed into the ground, flames washing over him. Licks of fire now clung to both the dueling giants. Both were unaffected, the toxic triphibian because of his great endurance and the heroic turtle, his status as a beast powered by heat and flames.

    Heat…

Trapped under a titan of poisonous sludge threatening to skeletonize him, the Guardian of the Universe suddenly found himself staring at a small billow of steam as a tongue of flame dried Hedorah’s outermost layer of slime.

More acidic ooze dropped onto his shelled shoulder, dissolving flesh.

Heat was this monstrosity’s weakness. The last hope of humanity had known this very early on in the fight. But he had gone about dehydrating the alien creature in the wrong way.

Deadly slime drizzled over his neck, opening his throat to the dirty air.

He had targeted the Smog Monster’s exterior. What he should have gone for is the interior.

Burning muck spattered across the plastron, dangerously close to wearing away the armor and reaching soft flesh.

He had to dry out the pollution-fueled beast’s core.

Lethal sludge dripped onto Gamera’s head, revealing the turtle’s skull.

And he knew just how to do it.

Focusing what remained of his power, the hero of the innocent forced all his energy into a single raised fist. Willing the fire that dotted Hedorah’s body as well as his own around his closed hand, the noble champion compressed the flames, enveloping his fist in in a coating of pure, concentrated plasma. Eyes hardening, Gamera raised his fist – armed with a “plasma glove” of sorts – and plunged it into the alien’s noxious body. Plasma guarding his bare flesh, the turtle drove his arm into the very heart of the Smog Monster. Arms flailing in panic, the vile leviathan fired his energy beam frantically. The red barrage raked across his face, laying open his cheek and scalp, but he reptilian guardian gritted his teeth. The pain was intense.

But his determination was even more intense.

The gluttonous alien’s center was totally devoid of water. The terrapin forced the plasma outwards, his will now carrying him farther than his stamina ever could. The Smog Monster was thrashing madly, a pale brown dust spilling from around the flaming arm. The mineral born beast began to creak and crackle with every move, its body falling away in dry sheets. Finally, with one last warped scream, the polluted lifeform crumbled away, disintegrating into nothing more than a dusty, gritty gust of wind.

    Hedorah was no more.

Gamera collapsed, totally drained. He was exhausted beyond all belief. He was struggling to even keep his eyes open. His foe was vanquished and his energy gone. All he could do now was rest. He would usually travel to the nearest body of rejuvenating water to sleep and regain his energy, but he didn’t have the strength to do so. So be it.

Under the warm African sun, the Guardian closed his eyes and entered a deep, deep, slumber.

They’d been beaten back one by one, every single time they’d tried to take that pitiful blue planet. Yes, it seemed unbelievable that such an insignificant spec on a cosmic scale could defeat mighty conquerors such as them, but yet it had happened. The alien invaders had had enough. It wasn’t a simple matter of conquering the planet, now it was a matter of pride.

    And revenge.

Even the forces of Seatopia had joined this coalition, contributing Megalon to their forces. But they had to come up with a new plan. Attacking all at once wouldn’t help. The Kilaaks had tried an all-out attack and it hadn’t worked. So instead, they’d divert the Earth defenders from their true goal with other attacks. And first up would be the team of the Star Hunter Nebula M and Black Hole Aliens.

In Osaka, the citizens went about their normal lives, knowing a kaiju attack was possible, as always, but that was the last thing on their minds. They had other things to do besides worry…

    But perhaps they should have.

Suddenly, the sound of rocket engines filled the air, the powerful Super Mechagodzilla descending from the sky with a mechanical screech. But this wasn’t the same one they knew. The Black Hole Aliens had seen the superiority of the Earth Mechagodzilla’s arsenal over their own when dealing with Earth kaiju and duplicated it. The only difference was that theirs was controlled remotely as their original had been. That, and Earth metals were easier for them to use, their supply of Space Titanium having fallen into the black hole along with their homeworld. What surprised the people of Earth more than their former mechanized savior assaulting a row of buildings with its Mega-Buster and Garuda cannons was Gigan descending from the sky with a screech, landing next to the mechanical dinosaur and obliterating a building with his cluster beam.

The twin terrors unleashed their combined weaponry on the surrounding area, sending plumes of smoke and fire high into the sky. It seemed nothing could stop the twin tyrants, until the cyclopian assassin noticed a man staring at him from a nearby building, instead of running. This surprised the giant, humans were normally much more panicky than this. His hesitation allowed the man to pull out a tiny object from his coat and point it skywards. Suddenly, Gigan was startled by a blinding flash of light. When the flash finally faded, the cyborg monster was even more surprised to be face to face with the heroic giant known as Ultraman!

The Monster Disposal Specialist was quickly on the offensive and delivered a karate chop to the side of the Nebulan’s cranium, staggering the space monster and allowing him to duck down, grabbing bladed legs and pulling them out from under his foe. Gigan crashed to the ground with a startled screech, screeching even louder as the Ultra grabbed him by the legs and spun around, lifting the cyborg off the ground and spinning him around several times before releasing him. The space dinosaur went flying and slammed hard into the ground, screeching in pain. Super Mechagodzilla noticed its ally had been attacked and quickly opened fire on Ultraman with its Mega-Buster and shoulder cannons. The giant hero noticed the impending assault and quickly raised his hands, putting up an energy barrier, allowing the cascade of energy to flow over the barrier and disperse harmlessly. Before another barrage could be fired, the silver savior leapt high into the air and delivered a flying kick to the machine’s chest, knocking the mecha backwards. The henshin hero followed up by charging forwards and grabbing the imitation king by the midsection, lifting him up and spinning around, driving the robot hard into the ground, sending sparks flying from its body.

Ultraman stood up to look over his opponent and see if enough damage had been done. This allowed the UNGCC designed destroyer to spin its head up and fire a blast of yellow energy from its eyes, striking the M78 visitor in the chest and causing him to stumble back, and then suddenly cry out in pain as a sharp hit landed on his back. Gigan had regained his senses and slashed across the back of the superhero with his scythe-like hands. Before the Ultra could recover, the bladed bully swung his tail around and clamped the claw-like object at its tip around a shining neck from behind. Mechagodzilla managed to rise to its feet and unleashed a blast of its Mega-Buster and shoulder cannons into the giant of light’s chest and gut, causing him to scream in agony. Once the cold machine was done, his sadistic ally  swung his tail, sending Japan’s champion flying through a building. As the hero tried to rise, the cybernetic creature blasted him with his Cluster Ray, sending a cascade of explosions over the hero’s body. The Ultra moaned, falling to the ground in pain. His Color Timer began to flash. He knew he didn’t have much time left but he needed a chance to recover from the assault.

Gigan lifted the Monster Disposal Specialist to his feet and held his weapons to the hero’s throat, preparing to execute him. But just as he got ready to behead the warrior from the Land of Light, a snaking blast of electrical energy collided with his enhanced spine, causing him to shriek in pain and fall to the ground. The compromised Godzilla destroyer turned to see Kiryu standing above his fallen ally. The cybernetic war machine roared at the duplicate of his predecessor, Akane Yashiro piloting the mecha from within. Before the alien robot could recover, the revenant machine’s missile pods sent an onslaught of rockets at it, colliding with diamond armor and sending the robot backpedaling. The Nebulan growled, standing back up. But before he could attack, Ultraman grabbed him by the tail, pulling him to the ground. The Ultra hero looked up and nodded to the MSF-3 weapon, grateful for the help. He then proceeded to lift the cybernetic chicken off the ground and throw him back down. Akane glared at the replica of the UN’s super weapon, growling.

“Let’s show them what you can do, Kiryu,” she said, unleashing a barrage of lasers from her mechanical partner’s wrist mounted cannons, bombarding Super Mechagodzilla.

Akane realized her mistake too late, however, that the towering titan’s synthetic diamond coating absorbed the lasers as its Plasma Grenade port opened. Knowing what was coming next, Akane jerked Kiryu’s controls sharply, forcing him to dodge as the enhanced energy blast erupted forward. The DNA-powered savior managed to avoid a direct hit, but his left laser gauntlet was blown off. Realizing those weapons were useless, Yashiro detached the other one, causing it to fall to the ground and free up the multi-purpose fighting machine’s right hand more. As the anti-Godzilla super weapon opened fire with a Mega-Buster, the sleeker Mechagodzilla managed to evade it and fire another barrage of missiles, hammering the evil mech hard. This gave Super Mechagodzilla the chance to open fire with its shoulder cannons, blasting his doppelganger in the chest and sending the cyborg staggering back, before firing another volley of the Garuda cannons, slamming him further into the ground.

Ultraman dodged several slashes from the vicious mercenary, responding with a strong kick to the side, causing the space monster to stagger sideways. As the giant of light attempted another punch, the spiked sadist opened ports on his chest and fired his razor disks, slashing across silver sides, causing the alien hero to cry out in pain as light surged from his wounds. However, the seasoned Earth defender was smart enough to realize the blades were coming back around, quickly spinning around and crossing his arms in a plus shape, firing the Specium Ray with expert precision, blowing both out of the air. The alien ninja suddenly took to the sky, his buzzsaw coming to life as he dove past the champion of M78, slashing his shoulder and toppling him to the ground.

Gigan spun around and landed, raising his blade, once again preparing to behead the hero. The massive superhero realized his Color Timer was flashing rapidly. He had to finish this soon. Seeing the black armored demon coming, he formed an Ultra Cutter and threw it straight at the cyborg. The space dinosaur was taken off guard, allowing the blade to pass through his raised wrist… and then screeched in pain as his scythe fell off, clanging to the ground. The enhanced killer stared at his stump in surprise and pain, the exposed machinery sparking. Ultraman quickly closed the distance and grabbed the stunned space monster by the throat, flipping him over his shoulder and smashing into the ground.

Kiryu managed to recover from the barrage of energy blasts and regain his footing. Akane pressed several buttons in the cockpit, causing the mecha to fire his shoulder missile batteries like huge rockets. The gleaming copy’s rockets kicked in, allowing it to fly up and over the twin rockets, making them explode in the distance upon collision with a building. But they were merely a distraction. Super Mechagodzilla was suddenly caught off guard by his faster doppelganger leaping into the air and slamming into him, sending the mechanical Godzilla plummeting from the sky into the ground. The Battle Weapon landed and, unhinged from his heavy weapons, moved at high speeds and was on top of the End of Century Tyrant before the machine could recover, raining blows into his opponent. The hijacked machine’s systems began to flicker, forcing its masters to think quickly, managing to raise its Garuda cannons and blast the cyborg clone point blank in the face, blowing off part of the faceplate to reveal the machinery beneath. As Kiryu was forced back, the diamond coated destroyer got to its feet and fired its eye beams, shoulder cannons and Mega-Buster all at once, bombarding his foe in a storm of energy blasts, tearing sections of armor off and exposing circuitry. When the assault ended, the machine emitted a low, mechanical screech and fell over, crashing through a building.

The giant of light forced the cyborg to his feet and gave him another shoulder toss to the ground before jumping back as he started up his belly saw to momentarily drive him away. Gigan quickly regained his footing and slashed at the hero from a distant star, forcing him to jump backwards to avoid damage. This allowed the space dinosaur to fire his cables on his remaining arm, wrapping around Ultraman’s throat, choking him. He then began to pull him in, starting up his saw, preparing to slice the hero to ribbons with it. The Monster Disposal Expert struggled against the cable in an attempt to free himself. His life-force fading, he knew he had to do something. Inches from the saw, he suddenly crossed his arms and fired the Specium Ray point blank in desperation. The beam hit Gigan in the face, engulfing his head in a large fireball. The saw stopped spinning and the cable stopped retracting, arms going limp as his decapitated corpse fell to the ground. The shining hero panted in exhaustion, untying himself from the now limp cable. It was then that he noticed what was going on with his ally.

Super Mechagodzilla lowered its arms, locking onto his fellow anti-Godzilla super weapon’s chest, preparing to unleash the G-Crusher and fry the cyborg’s systems. The cables launched from the mecha’s wrists, firing through the air… but they didn’t meet their intended target. Ultraman dashed into the path, puffing out his chest to allow the G-Crusher to collide with him, discharging electricity throughout his body until he easily yanked them out himself. The hero had a history of resisting electrical attacks. Many of his foes had tried before and the giant of light had simply ignored it. The G-Crusher was no different. Earth’s champion brushed his chest off and flexed, the act surprising both the mecha and its controllers.

Akane managed to redirect the controls, rerouting them and allowing Kiryu to reactivate, thanks to the savior of the planet taking the hit for them. The cyborg Godzilla rose to his feet and nodded to his ally, glad for the help. The mecha seemed to roar with a mind of his own, conversing with the hero, who nodded in reply. The copy of Earth’s greatest weapon suddenly let loose with its cannons, trying to catch them off guard, but the Ultra shielded both of them with an energy shield. After the attacks cascaded off, the Monster Disposal Specialist formed another Ultra Cutter and flung it, cutting the cannons to the Garuda unit off. Before the larger Mechagodzilla could react, Ultraman lowered his shield and fired the Specium Ray. But even the hero’s most powerful attack was simply absorbed, allowing the Plasma Grenade port to open in preparation… and fall right into their trap.

Akane, despite being surprised that her partner had conversed with Ultraman on his own, followed the plan displayed on the monitor. While the alien hero unleashed the Specium Ray, Kiryu had moved in closer, morphing his hand into a drill. The spinning appendage designed to cleave through Godzilla’s flesh tore through the more fragile piece of machinery and into its inner workings, destroying the weapon right as it was about to fire. Realizing this would leave the energy inside the metallic tyrant nowhere to go after having already pressed the firing switch, Akane had the multi-purpose fighting system fall back, right as a large explosion tore out the abdominal region of Super Mechagodzilla, sparks and small fires coming out of the gaping hole. The mecha’s eyes flashed and it roared randomly, flailing its limbs, malfunctioning from the massive amounts of damage it had taken.

Knowing they had to prevent the Black Hole Aliens from savaging their weapon, Akane armed their ultimate attack.

“Fire Absolute Zero Cannon!” she ordered, pressing the fire button.

The cyborg Godzilla’s chest split open, blue energy collecting in the opening until finally, a surge of blue white light erupted out. The alien built mecha was struck with a powerful force, a huge flash of light occurring as a pillar of ice went up around it, trapping Super Mechagodzilla in a small glacier. Kiryu roared and stomped his foot, causing the pillar of ice to crumble, reducing the once proud war machine to nothing but frozen dust.

Ultraman turned to his victorious ally, the two both very low on power. The sentient cyborg and cosmic hero both nodded to one another in mutual respect. Kiryu’s eyes faded as his battery ran dry, but Akane stepped out on his shoulder, saluting the hero from the stars. M78’s finest nodded in reply, happy to have an ally, before he looked up at the sky and held his arms upwards.

“SHUWATCH!” shouted the Ultra, taking off into the sky and flying off, heading off to recharge as Akane watched on.

Up in space, a saucer floated above Earth, looking on.

“Well, well. They failed. Too bad. Still, that wasn’t our prime object,” announced a female voice. “Alright, time for our next target!” she said, letting out a laugh as a pair of ships flew past towards Earth.

A predator was stalking the jungles of Monster Island. Creeping through the thick forest with unnatural silence, eight great, spindly legs carried a killer high above the ground.

    Kumonga.

Emotionless eyes scanned their surroundings for potential prey. The gigantic spider’s usual food source, a strain of giant mantis known as Kamacuras, had disappeared, already fallen victim to the hunter or migrated to a safer area. The island was also home to many other equally huge creatures, but most were many times more deadly than any giant insects. It could be extremely dangerous for the arachnid apex predator to try and take down one of these beasts, but that was a risk that the invertebrate would have to take. An intense hunger gnawed at the mammoth’s spider’s insides, threatening to completely consume the predator. He needed a good meal and soon, or it would surely perish. The sinister giant was desperate. It had to eat and it was willing to take on anything to do that. It would even attack Godzilla, King of the Monsters himself, if the chance presented itself.

Fortunately for the Solgell terror, it wasn’t the island’s leader that appeared, but the second-in-command.

As the titanic tarantula prowled through the jungle, the shuffling of rocks from somewhere above caught its attention. Four pairs of eyes turned upwards. Perched atop a mountain ledge was Anguirus, Godzilla’s most trusted ally and closest friend. The ankylosaur’s crocodilian jaws were split by an unfriendly snarl. Kumonga was in his territory and he wasn’t in a generous enough mood to share. To the ancient relic’s surprise, the goliath spider didn’t back down. Instead, it actually began scaling the rocky slope, stinger flashing from between the predator’s mandibles with a “choo-choo” sound. The Fierce Dragon’s hard eyes narrowed. The spider meant business. The dinosaur’s fierce grimace parted, unleashing a long, unearthly wail. As the cry ended with a sharp honk, the spiked saurian charged, barreling down towards his new foe.

As Anguirus thundered downward, the sinister spider lunged to meet the reptile, made fearless by his hunger. In a dull crash, flesh and bone clashed with a hard exoskeleton. A writhing mass of limbs and scales, the two giants tumbled to the forest floor below, flattening countless trees under their combined mass. With a cry of effort, the Angillasaur threw Kumonga from him, the invertebrate landing on its back several hundred yards away, legs flailing. Rolling to his feet, the horned hunter flashed his conical teeth and lunged. The massive spider was suddenly crushed into the ground as it cried out in distress, the radioactive reptile pushing down on its cephalothorax with powerful forelimbs. As the arachnid’s clawed legs batted pitifully at his carapace, the prehistoric throwback grabbed one of the thrashing limbs and bit down. Bone-white teeth scraped against the predator’s outer shell with a dry scratching. Anguirus growled and spat out the leg bitterly. Kumonga’s exoskeleton was almost impenetrable, like an organic suit of armor. The quadruped grumbled in thought. Maybe he could pry the leg off at the base…

But he would never get the chance to try. The very leg that he had just held in a bone-crushing bite snapped back, plunging its tip into his eye. The dinosaur fell back with a pained scream, a squirt of blood arcing from his eye socket. Unbeknownst to Anguirus, the squirming eight legs had not simply been trying to dislodge the spiked beast. They had been exploring his body, mapping it out, letting the spider know exactly where to strike. As the Killer of the Living pawed at his bloody face, Kumonga flipped himself upright.

Scuttling to face his fanged foe, the enormous invertebrate angled itself upwards and fired a stream of liquid web into the air. The white material gently rained down on a spiked shell, hardening on contact with the great reptile. As the webbing built up, the saurian brawler’s struggling began to weaken, his movements restrained. By the time Kumonga stopped, Anguirus was encased in a cocoon, the very same structure that served as a coffin for numerous creatures in the past. Clicking his pincers together in anticipation, the horrific hunter crept forward, stinger shining from its shaded maw. The ankylosaur gritted his teeth. He was in trouble. The spider’s web was monstrously strong and its venom even stronger.

Luckily for him, he was just as strong and had the willpower to match.

Pushing with all his might, the determined dinosaur broke free from the webbing, ivory spikes tearing through the white blanket that held him down. Seeing that its web had failed, Kumonga rushed forward, legs working with mechanical precision and stinger emerging from his hideous mouth. Before the deadly needle could be plunged into his flesh, the spiked beast hooked his nasal horn under the spider’s head and heaved upward with a wail. The eight legged terror could only “choo-choo” in a feeble argument as it was flipped over again.

The hulking arachnid swiftly righted itself and sprang backwards, landing a safe distance from his foe. One honking and snarling and the other unsettlingly quiet, the dinosaur and the spider circled each other. With a long, wispy stream of webbing still clinging to his carapace, Anguirus looked like a wandering, Mesozoic spirit. With a sudden burst of motion, Kumonga pounced. The great invertebrate soared across Monster Island’s skyline, legs flexing and mandible chattering. With a wailing battle cry, the prickly beast whipped around and caught the airborne tarantula like a world-class baseball batter, his spiny tail slamming into the spider with a wet crunch of a rupturing exoskeleton. A trail of foul liquid marking its path, the arachnid sailed from the ancient scraper’s tail and landed in a bleeding mess, legs curling against its broken body. Anguirus inspected the spider with a single narrowed eye. Any thoughts of the invertebrate being dead were dispelled when its mandible began to twitch.

With a long battle cry, Anguirus bound forward into an excited gallop, his remaining eye burning with the need to dismember his opponent. But before the ankylosaur’s outstretched claws could tear into the damaged outer shell of the downed creature, a stream of webs shot from between the spider’s pincers. The sticky liquid struck his horned face and hardened instantly, stealing the dinosaur’s already crippled vision. The titanic reptile jerked back with a yelp and began thrashing wildly. As the Fierce Dragon struggled to regain his sight, Kumonga weakly righted himself. With a small “choo-choo” of triumph, the spider reared up and launched more webbing. The spiked saurian managed to tear the webbing from his face and was immediately faced with a downpour of the white material.

He may have been strong enough to free himself from the webbing before, but a good deal of his strength was now gone. Realizing the gravity of his situation, the quadruped gave a hearty wail and charged through the rain of webbing in one last, desperate move. The titanic tarantula began crawling backwards in panic as the dinosaur closed in. The webbing began to hold the Angilasaur back, long strands of the stuff tethering the spiny reptile to the ground. Finally, the dinosaur collapsed, sprawled just before Kumonga. The arachnid ceased playing the part of an intimidated coward and resumed the role of predator, moving forward on his long, hairy legs. Anguirus closed his eyes in defeat.

    He was done.

Or was he? Something similar to a plan had suddenly formed in his simple head. The ankylosaur did his best to look pathetic, which honestly wasn’t too hard by this point. As Kumonga drew closer, the seasoned fighter tried to judge the spider’s position based solely on the vibration of its movements. No… it was too much of a gamble to base such a critical move – literally life-or-death, in fact – on sound alone. The ancient beast risked cracking an eye open. He barely suppressed a honk of surprise as he stared into his own reflection on a venom droplet hanging from Kumonga’s stinger. In almost the same moment, Anguirus and Kumonga lunged, both intent on killing the other.

Unfortunately for the Solgell Spider, the Killer of the Living was a fraction of a second faster.

Twisting his head around the spider’s lethal stinger, the dinosaur snapped his jaws shut with a gush of foul goo. Fatigue overtaking his worn body, Anguirus collapsed and let the mashed remains of Kumonga’s head ooze from his mouth. Following the quadruped’s example, the late arachnid’s body fell as well, legs curled in death. And this time it was no trick. The ankylosaur struggled to keep his eyes open. He was tired, so very tired. The fight had drained all his energy. He needed to sleep. Sleeping too deeply on Monster Island could mean never waking up, but the determined saurian trusted both his reputation as Godzilla’s best friend and a few of his fellow giants to keep him safe. As the gentle hand of sleep slowly pushed down his eyelids, the spiked hero swore that the first thing he would do after regaining his strength was to drain the nearest stream and rid his mouth of these vile juices.

Nose to nose with the corpse of a giant spider, missing an eye, and covered in webbing, Anguirus slept…

In Canada, the city of Toronto was all but empty, and for good reason. The creature known as SpaceGodzilla had converted it into his crystalline fortress. Arriving two nights before, the crystal menace wasted no time in turning the CN Tower into an energy conductor, a conduit for transferring plasma from the depths of space to its master. All attempts made by the army to kill or drive the monster away ended in disaster. Now the city was empty, save for some stubborn business owners, looters, the mentally insane, and of course, the monster himself, who was leaning heavily forward in a standing position, sleeping.

    But tonight would be different.

The intergalactic conqueror awoke, sensing another nearby. Looking around, he noticed something wrong when he spotted activity in the bay. There was a red glow coming from the waves, which were boiling and steaming. Suddenly, Godzilla rose up from the water!

SpaceGodzilla had been waiting for this. At last he would have his revenge! He watched his twin approach him, waiting to strike. But even before the radioactive reptile reached him, the Combat Creature knew something was wrong with his “brother.” Patches of his skin, his eyes and his spines were glowing a bright red and steam was issuing from his body. The Monster King had become what scientists called Burning Godzilla. The saurian knew he had an advantage this time. Due to his massive increase in power, he was now as strong as his evil twin, if not stronger.

Sensing that his nemesis now possessed an unlimited supply of energy, the crystal demon changed his plans. He knew that if he could somehow get Godzilla’s power under control, he could become a powerful tool. SpaceGodzilla planned to trap his “other” in one of his crystal prisons. He would then get his power under his control, serving as a spare energy source to his fantastic tower. His crystals’ purpose was to absorb energy, so it was only fitting he turn the King of the Monsters into a battery. With him out of the way, the black hole behemoth would claim his rightful place as the king, and once the Earth was his, he would spread his crystals all throughout the universe, absorbing all the energy there was to absorb to become a god!

Godzilla remembered all too well how his clone had kidnapped and frightened his son. Determined to destroy his alien counterpart for good this time, the Earth’s defender charged forward. SpaceGodzilla opened fire with a Corona Beam that twisted and whirled before digging into his “brother’s” fanged face and exploding. Blinded for a few seconds, the saurian was not going to wait for his vision to return only to be shot at again and fired a powerful red blast, hoping it would find his foe. Reflexively, the supernova saurian generated an energy shield that reflected the beam right back at its user. The blast hit hard, sending Godzilla hurtling backwards and toppling onto his back. The crystal monster noted the increase of power in the blinding red ray, thankful for his quick reflexes. As he got to his feet, the mutated dinosaur unleashed another spiral blast, this time aimed at the CN Tower but the Bio Quartz monster formed another shield, this one around the tower, deflecting the ray harmlessly into the night sky.

The heinous alien floated into the air, hovering towards the Monster King, not wanting to give him an ounce of breathing space. The dying monster got to his feet, only to be smacked across the face with a long crystal tipped tail. SpaceGodzilla landed as the steaming creature rose again and charged, clawing at him. The crystal nightmare from the stars responded in kind, charging his hands with energy and clawing back, each slash causing red electricity to surge into the glowing body, which conducted its own energy through each touch, as Godzilla began clawing even harder . Each of the Earth born beast’s blows sent runaway power surging into the intergalactic interloper, drawing a shriek with each hit.

The hybrid evil lunged towards Godzilla and held him in a choke hold, striking the infamous hero in the face over and over with his free hand. The energy surging through crystal claws was now shocking the smoking king with each blow. Finally, after what felt like forever, the Monster of Justice managed to break free and strike SpaceGodzilla in the stomach, causing the megalomaniac to stumble back and let go. Godzilla delivered a powerful blow to his evil clone’s face, stunning the gemborn overlord as he felt his teeth get knocked out and tasted blood, falling to the ground. The Strongest Monster on Earth kicked him before he could recover, then as the space mutant tried to get up, he was slammed in the face by a powerful tail making him slide back several hundred meters. By the time the space monster was back on his feet, his terran progenitor had already reached him and was wailing on him with his fists, using his energy to shock with every punch. SpaceGodzilla had enough of this and unleashed a point-blank blast of his Corona Beam into Godzilla, sending him crashing onto his back. The crystal beast hovered back to his original spot near the CN Tower and decided it was time to release his puppets.

Not too long before arriving in Toronto, the Combat Creature had sensed two creatures giving off energy similar to that of his crystals. One had come to destroy the crystals, while the other sought to harness their power. The two attacked not only SpaceGodzilla, but each other as well. They had put up quite a struggle, but after a long fight, the world conqueror had managed to capture them, bending their will to his very own until he was sure that they would be loyal to him. Now they were completely under his control, serving as his personal protectors for fear of being toyed with and destroyed by one who was more powerful than themselves. The ground shook and two crystal clusters rose from the ground on either side of the God of Destruction. The crystals split apart, revealing two new kaiju within.

One of them looked like a strange ape that walked on its toes, while hunched over from the heavy crystals on its back. It had a spiked tail, similar to its master, and its face and biceps were made mostly out of purple crystals, with long crystals sticking out of its chin. A strange yellow crystal was sticking half way out of its chest. Krystalak slashed at the empty air in front of him before hissing. The other kaiju did not walk out of its crystalline container, but rather dug out. The ground shook violently, and before Godzilla could question what was happening, a huge, rocky mass raised out of the ground. Slamming its stone hands against its chest and roaring into the sky, Obsidius looked back at the monster monarch. Or was it looking? The King of Monsters couldn’t tell as he tilted his head and tried to understand how this thing could even be alive. It had no eyes and most of its body was made of rock, lava leaking out of its joints and mouth. A trio of horns tipped its head and its tail ended in a split, like a shark’s. The daikaiju dinosaur had fought many strange beasts and this thing was no exception.

Krystalak charged and tackled Godzilla to the ground, jumping on top of him and slashing at him with his razor-sharp claws. The glowing giant blasted Krystalak off of him, sending the strange creature flying. Before he could return to his feet, however, SpaceGodzilla landed on top of him, planting his feet into a blinding orange stomach. Molten hot blood splashed from the Monster King’s fanged mouth as the tusked terror let out an evil cackle. Roaring furiously, Godzilla unleashed a powerful blast of his heat ray at his tormentor, sending him toppling to the street. Just as Godzilla got back to his feet, the magma demon rushed him, slamming his powerful fists into the burning behemoth’s face and knocking a few teeth out.

The saurian responded with a blast of crimson energy, sending Obsidius to the ground, where the radioactive reptile stomped the stone creature several times, rocky chunks breaking away from his body. Slamming his powerful tail into the molten monster to be sure, the champion of Earth turned around and fired another beam at SpaceGodzilla, who again blocked it with his crystal shield. In a flash of light, the space monster transformed into his flying form, unleashing a barrage of Corona Beams. Godzilla roared in pain as the jagged bolts struck his body, one blasting him right in his face and nearly tearing out his eyes. The crystal conqueror let out an evil shriek as he enjoyed watching his “twin” suffer.

As his eyes healed, Godzilla saw that the overlord had landed near the tower again. He started to approach his intergalactic counterpart, only to be cut off by Krystalak. The mutated Godzillasaurus went to strike him, only to have the berserker turn around and let the charcoal black fist connect with his crystal spikes. The monster monarch howled out as he held his bleeding hand, just as the crystalline creation jumped up and drop-kicked him in the face, then did a forward flip, landing a second in the face with the club of spikes at the end of his tail. Enraged, the royal reptile slashed his claws across the fleshy parts of the mutant’s body, drawing blood. Roaring in rage, the spawn of the crystals shot a stream of energy from his mouth, which exploded on impact. Ignoring the pain, the monster in meltdown returned fire with his own heat ray while advancing towards the crystal creature. Krystalak gritted his teeth in pain before swinging around to stab his foe with his tail, but the seasoned brawler reacted quickly, snatching it in his claws. Krystalak yelped in surprise as he was lifted up into the air, then slammed against the ground. Godzilla repeated this maneuver several times when crystal shards shot off the tip of the tail club and exploded in his face. Caught off guard, the apex monster took a step back and let go, allowing the gemstone beast to recover.

Before he knew what was going on, Godzilla was lifted off his feet and into the air. Before he could react to his sudden flight, the levitating saurian fell from the sky, dumped onto his head. Darkness was all he saw as unconsciousness claimed him. SpaceGodzilla roared in triumph as green lightning crackled out of his shoulder crystals. Using his Gravity Tornado, he lifted the unconscious Godzilla into the air once again and carried him towards a newly-constructed crystalline prison. He could feel the energy radiating from the King of the Monsters. What power! Such an irony that the strongest monster on the planet would become nothing more than a mere battery for him.

Out of nowhere, several blasts of energy slammed into the thick black hide of Spacegodzilla, sending the crystal terror crashing into the ground. He flailed about as he regained his wits. Where did that come from? Using his telekinetic powers, he pulled himself to his feet. He was greeted by the silver, metallic form of the Super Mechagodzilla.

Inside the cockpit of Godzilla’s mechanical doppelgänger, to say that the crew of Super Mechagodzilla were not nervous about having to battle SpaceGodzilla would be a lie. Making matters worse was that even if they defeated the space monster, they would be freeing Godzilla, who threatened to cause damage far greater than any mere monster attack with his inevitable meltdown. Krystalak and Obsidius were the crew’s lowest priority, but they could still inflict serious damage to the mech if underestimated. Luckily, both Mechagodzilla and the Garuda had been refitted to withstand electromagnetic pulses, or else they wouldn’t even be able to stay in the same area as SpaceGodzilla, let alone fight him.

But before either side could initiate an attack, golden spores fell from the sky like snowflakes. Each monster present stopped what they were doing and watched the spores fall. The pilots of Super Mechagodzilla and SpaceGodzilla felt dread grow in their stomachs but couldn’t help but feel wonder as well. Despite their violent and simple minded nature, Obsidius and Krystalak seemed to admire the sight’s beauty as well. It wasn’t until they saw fear on their master’s face that they began to share his feeling of dread. A moment later, the spores stopped falling, disappearing into the ground. The conqueror’s eyes shifted, waiting for the horror that would surely attack him first. Sure enough, the ground quaked and split apart. Several vines shot out, heading directly for the Combat Creature. They missed their target by mere inches as he once again transformed and took to the sky. A cry of intense rage pierced the air, striking fear in all who heard it as a towering mass arose from the ground, her giant, crocodile-like head snarling at the soaring SpaceGodzilla. Biollante had come to rid the world of her “brothers” and the threat they presented.

Withdrawing his flight crystals, the God of Destruction landed not too far away from his “sister”, shrieking a challenge. Super Mechagodzilla wasted no time in firing its Shock Anchors at the space demon. One of them bounced off one of his shoulder crystals, but the other managed to plant itself into his chest and began pumping the corona creature with an ungodly amount of electricity. A howl of pain echoed as Spacegodzilla tried pulling and twisting the cable out of his flesh. Red electricity began to travel back up the cables towards Mechagodzilla as the alien assailant tried to short circuit the mighty machine, but the crew refused to give up when they were so close to killing him. Yellow eyes started to roll back into his skull as foam began forming within his mouth.

Seeing his master under attack, Obsidius charged, spewing molten lava all over the Shock Anchor’s cables. Within moments, the molten spray had melted through the cables, cutting off Mechagodzilla’s attack. With SpaceGodzilla down for the moment, the steel colossus turned its attention to the stone servant, firing its Eye Lasers. As the mineral monster fell back, Krystalak advanced, firing his prism-like beam at the mech, the tiny crystals exploding on contact. He would learn the hard way just what a mistake he had made, as shining diamond armor absorbed the energy and began to convert it into fuel for its ultimate weapon. A port slid open on the mecha’s stomach and after a quick blue flash, a yellow beam was fired. The Plasma Grenade slammed into the crystalline creature, sending the beast flying through the air. Super Mechagodzilla turned around and wasted no time in firing several blasts from its Eye Lasers and Garuda cannons at Obsidius as the golem attempted to get back to his feet, causing him to stagger. Man’s ultimate weapon turned on its rockets and boosted towards the Combat Creature, blasting him with its Mega-Buster. SpaceGodzilla staggered, this beam was nearly as strong as his “brother’s” red one.

The God of Destruction fired his Corona Beam at Mechagodzilla, who merely landed and started walking towards him, absorbing the blasts. The alien overlord started to panic just as the UNGCC creation unleashed an all-out assault at the crystal king. Eye Lasers, the Mega-Buster, Garuda laser cannons and Plasma Grenade blasts were fired over and over. SpaceGodzilla quickly raised a shield to defend himself, deflecting some of the beams and sending them back at the living weapon, hitting the machine with intense force, forcing it to dig its feet into the ground lest it be sent soaring. This only added more fuel to the Plasma Grenade, making it even more powerful. The crystal conqueror began to panic. He lacked sufficient energy to keep his shield up for very long.

Sure enough, it faded away and the Bio Quartz beast was helplessly bombarded by the impressive arsenal of the Super Mechagodzilla. Suddenly, a red spiral ray hit the saurian android in the chest, causing it to stagger back. The space monarch turned around to see Godzilla, his body glowing an even brighter red than before. His temperature had actually become high enough to melt through the crystals restraining him, huge chunks melted out of them, glowing a bright red and dripping like candle wax. Thinking SpaceGodzilla’s attention was focused on his “twin”, the combining mecha fired another Plasma Grenade at the space kaiju’s backside. The mech’s pilots couldn’t believe it when another shield was brought up behind the crystal plates, reflecting the beam back at them. The crew had no time to try and absorb the blast and its power sent Mechagodzilla crashing to the ground, unable to move. The pilots of the super robot were frantic as they tried to make quick repairs so they could get their steel hope working again.

Biollante, meanwhile, attacked Krystalak and his brother with her spear-like vines and massive jaws thrashing and gnashing. Before either one of them could launch a counterattack, several of the hybrid’s vines punched into Obsidius’ right arm at the shoulder. After the fourth vine struck, the boulder-like arm gave way and fell off, a fountain of hot magma gushing from its socket. The gemstone berserker rushed in, but the beast borne of Erika opened her gigantic mouth and bit down on the crystal beast, lifting him into the air with her fanged mouth. Unable to break free, the frenzied beast channeled a large amount of his energy into his heart. Time slowed as the lava golem pulled back, knowing what was about to happen. Suddenly, a shock wave of intense energy and light went everywhere and blasted Krystalak free of the massive maw, taking a good chunk of her head off in the process. The rose creature fell to the ground as her body slowly began the process of regenerating.

With Biollante momentarily taken out of the fight, SpaceGodzilla’s minions charged Godzilla. The King of the Monsters unleashed several powerful heat rays at the two, blasting their tough, mineral hides. Having recovered enough to continue her assault, the Bio Monster charged the Combat Creature, destroying several of his crystals as she stampeded towards her “little brother.” The megalomaniacal monsters tried slowing her down with his Corona Beam, but she just kept regenerating and charging forward. Several vines shot out of the ground and ensnared him. The space monster shrieked in agony as one of them punched through his right shoulder crystal, shattering it into thousands of tiny shards. Several more tendrils popped up, opening their pod-like mouths and spraying acid sap over his torso. The acid was eating away at his flesh, but the damage would not last thanks to regeneration. The crystal armor underneath his skin, however, was a different story altogether as the acid destroyed the armor in mere moments. Regenerating flesh was easy, but rebuilding his crystal armor took time and right now time wasn’t on his side.

SpaceGodzilla shot a flurry of Corona Beams at the vines of his “sister”, freeing himself. He was enraged! How could his plans go so wrong so quickly? He had Godzilla where he wanted him, he had his revenge but now it was ruined by a fellow clone, along with the humans and their machine. No! He controlled everything! Him! He would become a god and take over this universe and would start by playing these pawns against one another! He stared at Biollante, who stared back at him. If looks could kill, then the Combat Creature would have felt a million daggers stabbing him as she glared at him. He didn’t know how, but he knew that – just like Godzilla – they were somehow related. He knew this and he knew she did as well. Such a pity that she wanted to kill both of them.

The Bio Quartz demon fired his Gravity Tornadoes at Biollante. Both the plant monster and the world were stunned as SpaceGodzilla accomplished what was thought to be impossible: the towering plant monster was lifted high into the sky before SpaceGodzilla ceased feeding the tornadoes his energy and let the massive monster fall to the ground with an earth-shattering crash. Super Mechagodzilla was about to get back to its feet after the crew finally got it working again, when the God of Destruction dropped out of the sky and landed on top of it. The mutant plant-animal recovered from her fall and crawled out of the crater she had made on impact. Her “brother” taunted her as she drew near. The last creation of Dr. Shiragami glared at the bastard of the black hole as he approached. Did he think he was invincible? She would prove him wrong.

    Dead wrong.

Red energy traveled up from her stomach to her mouth.

SpaceGodzilla waited a little while longer, he needed to time this just right.

The crystal terror took to the sky just as Biollante spit out her acid sap and sent several of her spear-tipped vines out. The UNGCC’s ultimate weapon got up, only to be hit by the acid, the machine’s NT-20 artificial diamond coating being slowly eaten away, joined by the metal underneath slowly melting and the vines punching through the armor leaking further acid blood into the internal wiring. The robot Godzilla began to steam. Mistaking this as a sign of hostility towards them, the crew opened fire with all of their weapons. Howling in agony, the vegetative clone retaliated by having more pod-tipped vines wrap around the machine and spray more acid. The Garuda on its back was wracked as the much-weaker NT-1 armor was being melted. With the diamond coating gone, Mechagodzilla could now be damaged by energy attacks, just what SpaceGodzilla intended as he shot several of his Corona beams. Mechagodzilla stumbled back, burn marks forming for the first time since the brawl began.

Godzilla slammed his fist into Krystalak’s chest. Again and again he struck, causing fractures to form. The gemstone monster summoned the energy in his heart and created an energy pulse that sent the saurian staggering back. Obsidius ran forward and with his only remaining arm, grabbed the Monster King by the throat and roared in his face before slamming him face-first into the ground. The surprisingly nimble titan grabbed him by the ankles and pulled, tripping the molten elemental at the same time he got back to his feet. The spiked beast jumped up, elbowing the Monster of Justice in the face, and landed with a series of hisses that sounded like mocking laughter. After recovering, Godzilla quickly advanced on Krystalak and thrust his face towards the crystal monster’s, headbutting him. The blow was so intense that the very crystal face of his foe had dozens of tiny spider web fractures across as he stumbled back. Obsidius had gotten up by this point and spewed a stream of lava from his mouth, but to his horror, the steaming monster just ignored the liquid magma as he swung his tail down onto Obsidius’ head, once again grounding him and this time knocking him out cold.

The radioactive reptile closed in on the berserker and slashed at him with his claws, while his foe slashed back, molten blood and sparks flying everywhere across the rubble. The crystal demon jumped up and slammed his tail into the dinosaur’s face like a club. Ignoring the blow, Godzilla punched the frenzied fighter several times, then grabbed him and tossed him through the air. Orange spines glowed an almost blood red before the dying tyrant unleashed another spiral heat ray. Krystalak let out a shrill scream of pain as he felt his flesh being burned and his crystals explode before colliding through a skyscraper. The crystal spawn crawled onto his hind legs and ran at the towering titan while summoning the strength for another energy pulse. If he was going to die, then he would take Godzilla with him!

Unmoving, the god incarnate punched the beast in his weakened chest again relentlessly as he had before. The “son” of Spacegodzilla panicked as he tried to fight back, trying to buy himself enough time to get one more pulse off. But with one more powerful punch, his foe’s hand was now inside his chest! Krystalak screamed in agony, a scream that was cut short as the burning beast withdrew his hand, ripping out the strange creature’s crystalline heart as he went. The crystal spiked demon fell to the ground, flailing around wildly before finally curling up into a ball.

    The beast was dead.

Godzilla looked at the heart for a moment before he threw it aside. Obsidius regained consciousness and upon seeing his glowing foe standing over his ally’s body, let out a roar of rage to let his presence be known. He wanted to scare this beast, he wanted it to be afraid of him. But the radioactive reptile just stared back at him, unimpressed and more agitated that this beast thought it stood a chance against him. The lava golem was enraged.

Who did this monster think he was? King of the Monsters?

He unleashed a torrent of lava, but the monster monarch ignored the pain, the attack’s heat paling in comparison to that of his current state. Godzilla’s lips curled. He would show this beast true hellfire. His spines once again flashed as he unleashed a powerful spiral heat ray. The red beam with spiraling lighting slammed into Obsidius and forced him to backpedal. The rock born beast was in shock. The plasma was so intense it actually succeeded in melting part of his outer rock layer! He jumped in front of his foe and backhanded him with his remaining arm, then he threw a kick in the stomach, the blow causing the Monster King to stumble back. The golem wasn’t finished yet as he rammed his shoulder into the spiny creature, then slammed his fist down on his head, causing the atomic mutation to fall. Obsidius curb stomped the reptile several times before turning around and slamming his shark-like tail into him over and over.

Finally, the molten monster turned around to see his handiwork. He was satisfied to see the theropod lying on the ground, unmoving. That is, until a pair of burning crimson eyes opened. Obsidius looked on in fear and shock as he saw Godzilla rise with an almost bored look on his face. His attacks seemed to annoy more than it hurt him. In retaliation, the stone brutalist curled up into a ball and rolled towards the monster monarch and slammed into him. But to his horror, thick claws managed to grasp the rolling mass, slowing it down until it stopped moving completely, then threw him to the ground. The Strongest Monster on Earth stomped on the living inferno. Reverting back to humanoid form, the gaping maw of his foe glowed as he spat lava into his eyes. Godzilla screamed as his eyes burned. Obsidius moved to punch Godzilla, only to have every strike blocked, even as the monster thrashed blindly.

The magma behemoth shrieked in surprise. What was going on? Unbeknownst to him, Godzilla could not see, but he could still hear. He grabbed the swinging forked tail and spun the two of them around in circles before letting go. The towering stone beast tried to stop, but the momentum caused him to run himself into a building. The energy overloaded colossus fired another blast before his eyes even recovered and scored a direct hit, signified by his foe screaming out in anger and pain once again. Eyes finally regenerated with a wet snap and so, the angered monarch advanced on his rocky foe as he returned to his feet. The molten beast screamed in pain as Godzilla struck him again and again, breaking away chunks from his body. But despite the damage he was causing, the fuming monarch wasn’t satisfied. He decided to conduct energy into his claws, punching the golem again and again.

This time, red lighting traveled over Obsidius’ body and even larger chunks were torn from him. The monster screamed even louder before he vomited forth another stream of lava. Barely stopping the assault to sidestep, the Monster King snarled as he tried to come up with faster means of killing Obsidius. He pushed the kaiju to the ground to buy himself time to come up with a new plan. He spotted Krystalak’s heart not too far away, remembering how the heart would create an energy pulse if given enough power. He made his way over to the heart and picked it up, conducting even more energy from his hands to fuel the heart. The molten golem got back to his feet and ran at Godzilla, who had his back turned to him. The stone creature was about to strike when a thick tail knocked him back. The divine destroyer turned and before the lava beast could react, he shoved the crystal heart into his open mouth. Obsidius punched and kicked, trying to spit the heart back out, but the reptile held his hand over his mouth. The combined power of Godzilla’s runaway radiation and the magma borne’s burning hot insides charged the heart until it did what it always did when Krystalak gave it too much energy.

Bright light began to shine through from the cracks in the rocky skin. Moments later, the crystal heart exploded, destroying Obsidius in a powerful blast. As the smoke cleared, rocks and lava rained everywhere. His molten foe finally destroyed, Godzilla got back to his feet and looked on in the distance as his clones and the machine fought with a lip curling snarl.

Two down. Three more to go…

Super Mechagodzilla fired his Mega-Buster at Biollante as she impaled SpaceGodzilla’s right arm with her vines. The space saurian fired a barrage of his Corona Beams at both of them and severed the vines. Suddenly, there was a large explosion that echoed through their ears and audio receptors. Everyone stopped fighting and looked at where the blast had come from. The city was on fire and rising up, looking like the Devil himself, was Godzilla. He was getting closer and closer to reaching meltdown and growing more powerful by the minute. He turned around and spotted the others and walked towards them, steam rising off him as if he had walked out of Hell itself, the glowing red patches of skin were almost hypnotic due to the sharp contrast of night. The android theropod fired its Mega-Buster, but like reflex, a Spiral Ray met it in defense. The two incredibly powerful energy streams collided in midair. The machine poured more energy into its beam, pushing the monster back. Then, Godzilla fed more energy into his, forcing his beam closer and closer until the Mega-Buster and Spiral Ray were shoved into Mechagodzilla’s mouth, causing a massive explosion.

The superweapon fell over, just as several vines stabbed into the burning flesh of the living nuclear weapon, injecting acid into his flesh while a stream of acid rained down on him. Burning orange eyes winced in pain but the acid in his blood burned boiled and broke down against such high body temperatures. The vines and pods ignited just from touching his body for too long, the rose beast wincing in phantom agony. Godzilla fired a blast of blood-red energy from his mouth, right down Biollante’s open maw. She ceased using her acid and screamed, her inner workings igniting. Suddenly, the melting terror was lifted off his feet again as SpaceGodzilla used his Gravity Tornados to lift him high into the air. The crystal overlord morphed into his flying form and, like a wrecking ball from the cosmos, he scraped into the back of the plant monster’s head, making her face plant into the ground and ripping chunks of flesh from the back of her head. This was only a secondary intent, as the Combat Creature slammed into his flaming true target several times while firing his Corona Beams wildly. Godzilla could do nothing but fire his beam at his captor but his evil twin ignored the streams of nuclear plasma even as they took flesh from him with every blast. His nemesis’ suffering was more important to him than his own.

He was about to impale Godzilla on his tail spikes and deliver the killing blow when something crashed into him, causing him to lose his concentration and cut off the power being fed to his Gravity Tornados. SpaceGodzilla morphed into his bipedal form as soon he hit the ground, getting to his feet and looking around for his attacker while the entire city shook as Godzilla impacted into the ground. The God of Destruction spotted Super Mechagodzilla just as it used its boosters to bodyslam him. The machine, now rusty from Biollante’s acid, delivered a series of punches to the alien dominator. The super robot was in no way made for hand-to-hand combat. Its movements were slow and clumsy, but they were powerful enough to knock the breath out of SpaceGodzilla. The crew wasn’t planning on killing him in melee combat. Rather, they were keeping the evil beast distracted so he didn’t bring up his crystal shield. The Bio Quartz creature fired his Corona Beams in retaliation. Without its diamond coating, Mechagodzilla now took damage from the beams, though they still fueled its main weapon.

The UNGCC android fired a Plasma Grenade that sent SpaceGodzilla soaring before he crashed into a building and was buried under thousands of tons of steel and concrete. Godzilla had gotten back to his feet by this time and fired a powerful crimson beam at the robot. The blast danced across the mecha’s body, causing the left arm to explode, a Garuda cannon to break off, and popping one of the glass eyes like a dropped glass. In retaliation, the crew unleashed an all-out assault. The lone remaining Eye Laser and Garuda cannon, Mega-Buster, Plasma Grenade, the remaining Shock Anchor and several Paralysis Missiles slammed into the supercharged saurian’s body, knocking him down. Super Mechagodzilla turned around and fired another assault at SpaceGodzilla, who had just managed to get up from the rubble he was buried in only a few seconds ago, and was once again knocked down. The Shock Anchor kept zapping in the glowing chest of the Monster King until the cable burned and snapped away from contact with burning hot flesh. The mecha turned around and spotted Biollante, who was still trying to recover from being shot in the mouth by Godzilla.

The anti-kaiju weapon opened fire on the plant with everything it had, trying to even the odds by putting down at least one of the G-Cell creations tormenting it. The hybrid clone wailed out, in too much pain to fight back as the force of the Plasma Grenade was so intense that it knocked her back. The massive plant monster slid along the pavement as if on ice. Suddenly, a cluster of crystal spikes exploded forth from Mechagodzilla’s stomach. The crew was so focused on killing the plant beast that her “brother” had managed to sneak up from behind and impale the mechanical doppelgänger of Godzilla with his tail. SpaceGodzilla lifted the machine high into the air, then spun around and tossed the machine through the air. When the android hit the ground, the Garuda fell off its back, the locking mechanism failing after being eroded by Biollante’s acid. A malfunction caused its engines to roar to life and the super ship flew right into the open mouth of Biollante. The genetic monster bit down on the giant aircraft and shook it violently before throwing it aside, where it crashed head-first into the ground and exploded. The pilot died instantly. The mutated rose ensnared Mechagodzilla with her vines, lifting it up as she began to spray her acid. The machine couldn’t do anything. All the crew members were either dead or out cold, about to join their comrades. Biollante bit down on the head, tugging and pulling until it was ripped off. She spat it out and stabbed at the body with dozens of her spear-tipped vines. One of them hit Mechagodzilla’s reactor, causing a massive explosion.

The super robot was no more.

Biollante roared a cry of victory. She turned and looked at SpaceGodzilla. The crystal devil waited for her to attack. For a moment, neither moved. The only sound that could be heard was the sound of buildings burning and the remaining surviving civilians screaming.

Suddenly, the white veiny eyes of the towering flora widened, and SpaceGodzilla realized that she was looking behind him. He turned and saw a devil he had hoped was dead when Mechagodzilla attacked. Burning Godzilla pulled what remained of the Shock Anchor from his chest. It was now a war between the three Godzillas: Biollante, SpaceGodzilla and Godzilla himself.

The Monster King looked at his clones, his glowing red eyes burning with rage and hatred for them intruding on his territory. Biollante looked at her “brothers” with disgust. The two of them had defiled the Earth long enough. She was going to kill them and free the world from all the death and suffering they had caused over the years once and for all. SpaceGodzilla looked at his “siblings” with envy and hate. As long as they were alive, he could never be his own monster. He was feared, not for who he is, but for what he is. A clone of the most powerful monster on Earth. As far as everyone was concerned, he was just a clone with extra powers. He was stuck living in his shadow. He would never be free until he died. Even Biollante was looked at as her own monster because she managed to fight Godzilla to a standstill. SpaceGodzilla wouldn’t stop until had killed them both and finished his quest of taking over the universe.

Burning Godzilla roared, daring them to attack first. Daring them to defy his authority as the King. For the first time, both of his clones shook in fear and hesitated. The tables had turned. Before, they always had the upper hand and their “brother” was the underdog. Things had changed now. Godzilla had joined their ranks and become a super monster, just like they were! Now, nothing short of his own meltdown would kill him! There was no telling who would leave this fight alive, or if anyone would survive at all, but what was known was that this fight would go down in history.

The ground shook as if alive when the Bio Monster charged forward, her head low to the ground. Her “brothers” fired their beams but she just kept coming. Biollante lifted her head up, smacking it against SpaceGodzilla. The space monster was powerless as he went flying into the air and crashed down behind her, as the fanged maw of the plant-animal-human hybrid bit down on Godzilla and tried to wrench his head off. Rising back to his feet, the God of Destruction fired several Corona Beams that stabbed and exploded into her mossy flesh. Several vines stabbed back into SpaceGodzilla, leaking acid into his body while several pod-tipped vines bit down on his arms and legs, trying to restrain him while she finished his terran “twin”. Godzilla fired a beam into the towering plant’s mouth, forcing her to let go as he backpedaled. Biollante charged forward, slamming her enormous body into the thermonuclear tyrant and knocking him backwards.

SpaceGodzilla conducted energy through his body and his restraints exploded in a shower of acid. Some of it splattered on his remaining shoulder crystal, but it would last for a little while longer. He saw the other two in the distance. Biollante slammed her head down onto her “brother” who crumpled onto the ground, only to get back up again. The crystal saurian didn’t think his foe had suffered enough. Reaching out telekinetically, he lifted the rose colossus up with his Gravity Tornadoes once again and dropped her on top of the glowing giant, hoping he would die a slow and painful death, crushed underneath her ungodly weight.

Suddenly, there was a great flash of light as a nuclear pulse blasted the hybrid off. Godzilla rose up, his spines melting like candle wax. He was close to melting down, but he was also getting stronger the closer his death came. Maple spines charged with a blood red light, the heat from his spines so intense that any nearby buildings, trees and cars caught on fire. People who were too close to him were instantly atomized into nothing. The Strongest Monster on Earth fired his beam directly at Biollante who shrieked in utter agony. As the plant sizzled, he turned his attention to SpaceGodzilla, but before he could even move, the Combat Creature shot his beam into a building next to Godzilla which collapsed on top of him. Having bought himself some time, the star beast fired a barrage of Corona Beams at the slumping plant monster and flew right at her, striking her with energized claws. She cried out in pain and as much as the sadistic alien enjoyed her suffering, he knew it wasn’t enough. It was then that he noticed that her most recent wounds hadn’t healed.

SpaceGodzilla decided that she must be running low on energy if she was unable to regenerate her wounds anymore. As he tried to think of a way to kill her, Biollante – having had enough of the mutant – bit down on him, lifting him up and shaking her head violently before letting go and sending him careening into a building. An explosion shook the ground as the Monster King rose up, ready to finish the fight. The hybrid sent an army of vines at him, but because he was so near meltdown, the living reactor’s beam was now huge and the lighting that spiraled around it white. The vines couldn’t even get close and were completely incinerated as the beam just kept coming and slammed into her glowing orange core. Godzilla stopped and looked. Her stomach had exploded and half her face was on fire. He was going to finish her off when, suddenly, thousands of giant crystals rained down and pierced the mossy body. Some of them exploded once inside her but most just stayed in there, crucifying her enormous form. The suffering being that was once Erika lifted several of her stumps that used to be vines and stared at them in shock.

Biollante looked down at her body. Acidic blood was leaking out of her mouth. She might not recover from this. She had regenerated from what would normally kill other creatures, but this time, she wasn’t so sure. It felt different. She was starting to doubt her recovery for the first time in her life. It would be her last time as well. Biollante slumped forward, twitching a little, and then was stillness. Godzilla turned and spotted SpaceGodzilla near the CN Tower with several crystals floating nearby. They stared daggers at each other. When Biollante’s body morphed into spores and took to the sky, it acted as a bell for the next and final round to begin.

The waxy spines were nearly all gone now and his skin was starting to melt off his body, leaving puddles of melted flesh on the ground behind him as he charged forward. His crystal twin sent the crystalline missiles crashing into him, each one exploding on contact. But Burning Godzilla ignored the pain and advanced forward, firing his ray but SpaceGodzilla blocked it with his crystal shield, sending it right back at him. In an incredible display of endurance and willpower, the dying monarch kept moving forward. When he reached his mutant “brother,” it was a war between gods of death. The Terran bit down on the alien who blasted him in the gut, making him stumble back. SpaceGodzilla lowered his head and charged forward, hitting Godzilla in the face with his last shoulder crystal. It failed to impale his head but it did draw blood and make him scream. The imperial terror fired another Red Spiral Ray. The God of Destruction didn’t have enough time to react and cried out as he felt pain he never knew before.

The god incarnate needed to finish this fight now, before he perished from meltdown. But as long as the space demon’s crystal fortress was active, neither side would be able to gain an advantage. It would be an endless battle between two monsters with unlimited power…

    Until meltdown, at least.

Godzilla marched towards SpaceGodzilla who tried to slow him down with Corona Beams, but the King would not be denied. He slammed into the Bio Quartz monster, the two titans clawing and biting each other. The melting saurian reached up and grabbed hold of his foe’s left shoulder crystal, his tusked twin shrieking as he saw smoke rising from his crystal. He realized his body was going to melt it if he stayed in contact with the dying giant for too long. Panic overcoming him, the Combat Creature started to pump energy from his claws into boiling flesh, who’s owner returned the favor in kind by conducting energy into his claws and slashing back. SpaceGodzilla felt blood seep out of the cuts inflicted on his neck as his skin sizzled. He opened his mouth, preparing to fire his Corona Beam, only to have flaming fangs bite down on his throat. Shrieking angrily, the God of Destruction broke free and bit down on the glowing neck of his foe, trying to return the pain.

He fell right into Godzilla’s trap.

Orange spines flashed, but with nowhere for the energy to go, his body released it in a different way. For a brief moment, Godzilla’s entire body glowed a bright red, when suddenly an unbelievably powerful nuclear pulse erupted from Godzilla’s body. The nuclear pulse not only sent the crystal overlord smashing into the CN Tower, thus cutting off his source of unlimited energy, but also shattered his remaining shoulder crystal. Now with no means to even store energy in his body, things had suddenly become very bad for SpaceGodzilla. The Monster King forced his body to increase in power, causing his spines to melt into nothing. Meltdown was inevitable now. The megalomaniac terror felt fear for the second time that night. This time would be the last.

A second pulse of nuclear energy slammed into SpaceGodzilla, burning away his skin and revealing a strange combination of crystals and internal organs. The alien shot as many Corona Beams as he could at his twin, who returned fire with a truly powerful Red Spiral Ray. The dying clone stopped firing and used the last of his energy to form a shield around him. The Spiral Ray was deflected right back at it’s sender, slowly burning away at his chest but he still kept firing, ignoring the agony. Godzilla dug his feet deep into the ground so as not to be pushed back by his own recoil or even his own beam. Eventually, the God of Destruction had used up all of his energy and his shield disappeared. His body was first stripped of its flesh, then the crystal armor beneath that, then the organs and bones under that until there was nothing left. A massive explosion rocked the city of Toronto that night. Small spheres of energy raised into the sky as a shriek was heard, SpaceGodzilla having transformed and retreated into the sky, just as his “sister” had.

Godzilla reared his head back and let out a cry of victory, one that soon turned into a howl of agony. This was it. His time had run out. The fires within him burned brighter and brighter. As the radioactive reptile writhed in agony, the sound of booster rockets filled the air. The Monster King opened his eyes and glared at the metallic being landing in front of him. As far as he was concerned, Kiryu was just another monster to fight before he died and the world burned with him in an inferno of hatred. The pilot was angry at himself for being so late. Had he been here sooner, then the pilots of Garuda and Mechagodzilla might not have died. For a split second, he noticed a rather strange sight in the middle of the burning city. Where Biollante and SpaceGodzilla had died, there was now a forest of crystals and flowers. It was strangely peaceful and beautiful, a sharp, calm contrast to the hell the city had become.

It was almost as if they were there to honor the dead, both monsters and humans. Shaking his head for thinking such a thing at a time like this, the pilot got ready to fight the monster of the inferno and brought the Absolute Zero Cannon online…

With a low cackle, the mighty reptile known as Godzillasaurus trampled through his island home. The dinosaur was in search of a meal, and thanks to his voracious appetite, anything that moved would do. Smaller animals scattered as he approached, but they didn’t interest him anyway. He was after a true feast.

Unfortunately for Godzillasaurus, he was not the only predator on the island.

Rearing his head back and letting loose with a mighty roar, Gorosaurus charged the smaller reptile. Having been driven from his home by an enormous ape, the emerald allosaur was in an even fouler mood than usual. Perhaps killing this new creature would make him feel better. He came closer and closer to Godzillasaurus, his tooth-lined jaws agape.

The scute armored saurian reared up in surprise as the leaping lizard charged him, then stopped. If slain, this beast would make quite a nice feast indeed. Godzillasaurus answered Gorosaurus’ war cry with one of his own and went on the attack!

The reptilian titans crashed together, instantly biting and clawing at one another. Godzillasaurus managed to close his jaws on the red throat of his foe, biting down hard. The oversized allosaur cried out as he felt his foe’s teeth sink into his flesh. Bringing his arms up, Gorosaurus raked his claws across the stubby snout, forcing him to release his toothy grip. As the king of dinosaurs backed away, his snout bleeding, the Mondo Island apex reared onto his tail and lashed out with his legs, kicking the Lagos interloper to the ground. Before he could get back to his feet, Gorosaurus reached down and clamped his jaws down onto his leg. The proto-Godzilla thrashed and kicked as he tried to dislodge the larger reptile. Though at first unfazed by his foe’s kicks, the spiked backed carnosaur was eventually forced to let go, allowing the other saurian to return to his feet.

Gorosaurus charged again, but the prehistoric predator spun around, clubbing his tail across his opponent’s face. The teal terror staggered backward and Godzillasaurus lunged towards him, snapping his jaws at his neck once more. The allosaur snapped back, their toothy maws nearly closing on each other. Gorosaurus leapt up and lashed out with another kangaroo kick, but this one merely knocked the amphibious creature backward. Just as the bouncing beast landed back on his feet, the tripod creature turned and slammed his tail into thick legs, sweeping them out from under his foe and knocking him to the ground. As the larger dinosaur tried to get back to his feet, the underdog attacked again, biting down on torn neck flesh once again. Shaking his head back and forth, he sank his fangs deeper and deeper, tearing more and more gore.

Gorosaurus’ eyes burned with rage. How dare this creature try to make a meal out of him!

Clutching Godzillasaurus’ neck in his claws, the apex predator dropped to the ground, taking his foe with him. The Mondo allosaur was back on his feet in an instant, growling furiously as blood dripped from his neck. The mysterious theropod was soon at his feet as well, roaring loudly. The two reptiles slammed into each other again, attacking each other with all their might. Claws tore flesh, teeth pierced skin and the fearsome roars of predators filled the air. The two beasts battled across the entire island, tearing up the landscape as they went. Trees were uprooted and mountains crumbled.

Soon, their battle took them near a towering cliff overlooking the sea, but neither creature took notice, too engrossed in their struggle to the death.

Gorosaurus bent down, then slammed his head into a fanged face, driving the potential kaiju back and towards the cliff. Godzillasaurus held his arms open and roared furiously at his opponent. The primeval dragon attacked again, forcing his ancient foe even further back. The smaller predator managed to snatch around his foe’s teal body with his stubby arms and grappled with the beast, turning as they fought. The larger carcharodontosaur ended up on the side closest to the cliff as the two continued their battle.

The ground underneath the dueling dinosaurs began to crack, the cliff unable to withstand the stress of the two titans warring on top of it. The cliff split and fell away, leaving Gorosaurus with nothing to stand on. The mighty beast dropped, but refused to perish alone. Reaching out with his powerful jaws, Gorosaurus bit down on Godzillasaurus’ throat, dragging him off the cliff alongside his foe.

Plummeting through the sky, the two reptiles continued to snarl and snap at each other. Both beasts refused to admit defeat as they fell towards the sea, closer and closer to the rocks below…

Zone Fighter jumped out of the way just in time as a huge boulder nearly collided with him. Godzilla roared, then snorted before lowering his head and charging forward like a crazed bull ready to stamp the life out of his foe. There was no time to dodge. The silver superhero stood his ground as the massive mutant slammed his bulk into him, sending him flying. As soon as the giant got back to his feet, he saw the blue energy of death leaking out of Godzilla’s mouth. Hikaru brought up his arms and made a cross to block the beam just as the byproduct of nuclear testing parted the monster’s maw and let loose with a powerful blast more deadly than several atomic weapons!

The blast stabbed into his arms but he managed to still stand, digging his feet in the ground as he was pushed back. The pain was too intense to describe, so when the blast ceased, raining trees and dust everywhere, it was a relief. The Hero of Justice’s belt buckle had gone from light blue to yellow. He had to end this fight soon. He looked down at his hands which were burned even darker than the blackest coal. The glass of his belt buckle timer had actually cracked and melted in some places. He charged at the irradiated dinosaur before the smoke could clear and traded blows with him, dodging Godzilla’s the best he could. He may not be as powerful as the Monster King, but he was faster. Claws slashed his chest, sparks flying.

The saurian then bit down on his shoulder, the alien hero crying out before he slammed his fists into the back of Godzilla’s neck and head, forcing him to let go. Once free from the jaws of death, he delivered an uppercut to his foe’s scaly face. A loud crack could be heard for miles as some of the nuclear leviathan’s teeth were knocked out. Bone white spines flashed and the monster monarch’s mouth was just about to open when Zone Fighter wrapped his elbow around his neck, holding him in a choke hold as he held his head down and punched him several times in the head with his free hand. The trapped royal slashed at him with his claws but the giant hero refused to submit to his will.

Godzilla felt like his body was going to blow up. But it wouldn’t, for his body had mutated a fail safe just in case he could not release the atomic energy that was now trapped in his body. A bright flash freed the dinosaur from the choke hold, as a nuclear pulse struck the area, as he took in a much needed gasp for air. The Meteor Man got up, having been thrown at least a mile away, and with horror, realized his belt buckle was flashing red. His energy was running low and he only had one hundred and ten seconds left. He had to finish this fight and fast!

The dreaded god charged at full speed and collided once more with the alien, only this time the mighty warrior grabbed his shoulders, fell on his back, and used Godzilla’s momentum to do a back roll and throw him away. The thick body of the mutant slammed into the ground like a small comet, chunks of earth sent everywhere, birds flying out of their trees to escape the danger. With speed that defied his size, the towering titan got back back on his feet, his face bleeding and charged once again. But this time he skidded to a stop as soon as he was near and spun, lifting his tail in an attempt to whack the alien with the limb. Zone braced for the impact and caught the tail, sliding on his feet in a nearly complete circle before he finally slid to a stop.

With a yelp of surprised horror, the monster king was lifted off his feet as the Peaceland born demigod spun around in circles faster and faster and faster until he let go. Godzilla crashed head-first into the ground as Zone Fighter took to the sky, ready to finish this fight. The spined saurian got up but was too disoriented to know where his foe had gone, giving Hikaru plenty of time to build up his speed. The monster of monsters finally got his equilibrium back and looked up just in time to see the human comet nose diving at ungodly speeds. It was too late to react as the henshin hero crashed into him head-first and sent him falling back with a thud that echoed like thunder.

The silver and blue idol landed. Godzilla was struggling to get back to his feet when his foe offered a helping hand and pulled him back to a standing position, patting him on the shoulder. The radioactive reptile nodded his head and Zone Fighter took to the sky and flew off. He had won another one of their fights. The two had been sparring partners for a long time – years, in fact – practicing fighting often to better themselves. They had to stay in shape. There was no telling when another monster would threaten the world.

At least, that was half the reason…

Most people saw all monsters as nothing more than evil and foul creatures that would cause the apocalypse. Others said that you reap what you sow and that’s what the kaiju were. War, atomic weapons, genetic weapons, chemical weapons, sin, insanity and Man’s destructive ways in general have been given flesh in their ranks. The monsters, living incarnations of our mistakes, sent to punish us like a plague.

To some extent, they were all right. But there were some that protect the world, like Mothra, or even humans themselves, like King Caesar. Even monsters who originally started off as a menace, like Rodan, have helped save the world from the likes of things much worse than themselves, like King Ghidorah. Monsters like Godzilla still caused the deaths of many, many lives but even he has saved the world as much as he had threatened it. Naturally, because of this, views of Godzilla and his fellow mutants were mixed at best.

Zone couldn’t blame them. He tried to picture a beast like Gigan turning into a hero and just couldn’t do it. But in times when all seemed lost, it was the same monsters that man had tried countless times to destroy that ironically saved them after years of causing so much suffering and death. Hikaru knew that as much as the world hated to admit it, Godzilla and his fellow mutants were the lesser of two evils and were needed to fight off far worse monsters if the world was to live and see another day. If the likes of Godzilla were brought into this world by the fates to punish the human race, then the likes of Destoroyah were brought into this world to kill us all. Indeed, it seemed Earth’s monsters were trying to give the world a second chance. That was the other reason he had been training with Earth’s monsters.

Godzilla seemed to enjoy these friendly matches with his strange ally, just as much as the ones he held with Rodan, Anguirus or any other monster on the island. Zone Fighter had also practiced with the other kaiju of Monster Island, as well as other defenders, such as Gamera, King Kong and even – in his opinion – his greatest rival, Ultraman. Lately he had been giving himself handicaps such as in his fight with the terrifying pterosaur, in which he would only use his projectiles. Or a few days ago, he had to capture Baragon several times before he could dig underground. Today, he used only his melee and flight skills against Godzilla.

Just like his sparring partners, he felt himself getting stronger and faster. His aim improved, as well as his agility in flight. His fighting skills improved greatly, even inventing new fighting techniques and making far fewer mistakes. Sometimes he would win a match in mere seconds while his belt buckle was still blue. He felt great, like he could take on the whole world and come back for seconds.

He would need all this experience for his next encounter. For the next fight would not be practice…

    * * * * *

Hikari Sakamori was walking calmly down the rainy streets of Moscow while its panicked citizens ran past him, trying to flee the evil that had already leveled most of the city. He had originally planned on meeting Shin Hayata, secretly Ultraman, two days ago on one of Japan’s many islands for a friendly match. After losing the last fight, he was looking forward to a rematch. Being that they had so much in common, both being alien protectors having disguised themselves among the natives of earth and fought off countless invading monsters, it only made sense they would become close friends once they knew who each other really were. However, those plans were now canceled.

Monsters started popping up all over the world and seemed to have declared war on mankind. Kiryu was fighting Gigan in London, Ultraman had engaged King Ghidorah in Washington D.C., Rodan was dealing with an army of Gyaos in Paris, Gamera was battling Iris in Hong Kong and Mechagodzilla was sent to stop Desghidorah near San Francisco.

Everyone was already in a fight, leaving no one to smite the evil in Moscow but him. For some reason, Japan was not attacked yet. It might have been a trap to lure him – the last defense of Japan – away, but he couldn’t just sit around and do nothing while people needed him. The beast was spotted heading towards the city days ago, so he had hoped to get there before it did, but it seemed he arrived too late. He would end this beast before it could destroy another city. He stopped and looked up at the beast who stared back at him, its body a mixture of bones on both the inside and out.

Monster X saw the man who dared stand before him and reached for him, ready to crush him into dust.

    “Zone Double Fight!”

Monster X reeled back in shock. Where had the human gone? And where did this giant come from? It reminded him much of the two who beat him back in Tokyo, the silver and red ones who could change their size, briefly making him seethe behind his armor. But he knew this couldn’t be one of them. This one was highlighted in blue. Nonetheless, he would find Ultraman and Jet Jaguar and have his revenge on them. Until then, he would kill this foolish being that dared get in his way of leveling this city.

The Meteor Man jumped up and delivered a kick to the space demon’s face. The emaciated evil staggered back as Zone Fighter then delivered several punches at a blinding speed to his stomach. Monster X slashed back at him with his claws, but the last protector of Peaceland jumped back before the space monster could hit him and responded in kind by striking a pose and aiming one of his arms at the skull like face of his foe. Suddenly, several arrow-shaped energy projectiles flew out of the silver sentinel’s hand and stabbed into the beast’s face before exploding. As the smoke cleared, Zone was disturbed to see that the beam had little effect,as the Keizer demon straightened up.

Not only had the beam bursts failed to cut through the creature’s bony armor, but had the premature Ghidorah not seen the beams with his own eyes, he probably wouldn’t have even known he had been shot. Zone charged forward, but the deep space devil suddenly jumped up and spun around, his tail and hand whacking the fighter of justice in the face. On his way down, Monster X grabbed him by the shoulders and swung his body so that both feet shot forward and slammed the giant hero in the stomach. The blow was so intense it sent the hero crashing face-first into the ground before he could regain his balance, all as the gravity god landed into a crouch with a snarl.

The Garogan Empire’s eternal foe got up first and grabbed his sinister foe by his legs and pulled. He started to spin faster and faster and faster before letting go. The vanguard of Planet X went flying head-first into some skyscrapers and was buried under tons of concrete and steel. Hikaru watched as Monster X exploded out of the rubble and fired several Gravity Bolts from his eyes. The blue comet hero screamed in pain as he was barraged by the golden beams, each time sliding back as he was hit. The hero of Japan struck several quick poses, summoning the power needed for his next attack.

    “Meteor Proton Beam!”

His body glowed brightly before a thin blue beam fired from the gem on the tip of the crest sticking out of his head. The cadaver-esque terror howled as the beam hit him, vanishing in a cloud of fire as he slid back, claws gouging into the Earth. So it could be hurt, Zone realized. He just needed to weaken it in hand-to-hand combat before finishing it off. But the monster was too far away now, slinking like a cat, he needed to force it to fight him up close. Zone’s hands glowed as he moved them and formed a square in the air in front of him.

With the conflagration no longer blocking his vision, Monster X spotted his foe. A chunk of bone armor was missing from around his eye and blood was leaking out the corner to his mouth. He fired Gravity Bolts from his demonic red eyes, but they stopped and vanished mere meters away from hitting Hikaru directly in the face. What was going on? Six eyes blinked, then noticed that there was a square-shaped object made of colored light in front of Zone. The asteroid demon bared his teeth once he realized that his beams were being blocked by the Zone-Barrier. As the space monster rushed him, Zone Fighter fired another barrage of arrow-shaped energy blasts as soon as his shield vanished.

Monster X jumped over the beams, both feet landing on the superhero’s head before he kicked off, using it as a springboard. The blue meteor hero turned around and lashed out with his fists, but met only empty air. Zone looked everywhere but couldn’t spot the skeleton kaiju. Where was he? It was almost as if he never landed at all. That made no sense, but he didn’t recall hearing him land, but even still he should have felt the ground shake. A low rumbling growl that sounded like a mocking laugh reached his ears. The Meteor Man looked up to see The Strongest Monster In The Universe hovering in the sky with his arms crossed, slowly floating down as if gravity had less effect on him, as if he was on the moon. The ultimate monster fired a barrage of Gravity Bolts from his eyes as he used his levitation powers.

Zone’s cries filled the city with unholy dread as the Peacelander fell to his knees, his belt buckle timer turning from a light blue to yellow. The Ghidorah creature turned off whatever power source in his body allowed him to float slowly down and fell like a rock, kicking out with his feet, but Zone rolled out of the way as the space beast flew past him, grabbing his tail and pulling. Monster X staggered back and turned around only to have the kyodai hero elbowed him in the face, sending him face-first into the ground. The invincible hero pulled the forked tail with all his might and slammed the deadly demon into the ground over and over. The Xillien bioweapon lashed out with a kick from one of his legs, landing the blow right in a silver stomach, forcing his foe to let go and grab his gut in pain. The living extinction ran to Hikaru as soon as he was standing and slammed into him. Snarling, the terror of the galaxy lifted him up by the shoulder and midsection, holding him high in the air before getting one one knee and slamming Zone Fighter’s back on his sharp bony knee.

Hikaru screamed out in horrid pain as he felt bones crack. The bone demon let the blue giant fall off his knees and slam into the earth with a dull thud. Zone struggled to get up. Every time he moved he felt a burning, stabbing pain that felt like it would last forever. Monster X was ready to deliver the finishing blow when several rockets and lasers struck the beast. The alien beast looked up to see several F-15J jets fire their Sidewinder missiles and ASTOL-MB93’s fire their masers as they did a fly-by. He fired a quick burst of his Gravity Bolts, coming close but missing as the aircraft made a swift turn, the beams melting the paint off several of the aircraft and the pilots feeling their cockpits heat up. Several more rockets and masers hit the demon, causing him to lower his head in pain, looking down to see several tanks and maser tanks. He fired his beams. They were not as lucky as the jets and ASTOL’s as several were destroyed. Zone looked up and saw one lone tank was cornered on a street that was a dead end. That one was about to be crushed and suddenly the pain didn’t matter anymore as he ran forward, pushing the foul beast away with one hand and grabbing the maser tank with the other, setting it down gently on the road where it drove away.

Zone Fighter turned around and the two giants stared each other down, neither one willing to back down. They charged each other, the blinking timer acting as a signal for the two to fight to the death. The two traded punches and kicks, blocking each other’s attacks as best as they could. It felt like they had been at it for hours when in reality it had only been half a minute.

The Hero of Justice had to recharge before he ran out of energy. And fast!

Monster X grabbed his foe by the crested head and ran in circles before throwing him forward, crashing into a building. He got back to his feet and ran at the snarling monochrome horror. The beast raised his hands as if ready for anything…but he wasn’t for this. Zone Fighter jumped up and elbowed the monster in the jaw at an angle, putting all of his weight into the blow, breaking his bony fanged lower jaw with a crunch. The space terror howled in pain but Zone wasn’t done. He grabbed the evil extraterrestrial by his arms and pulled him forward while slamming one of his legs into the creature’s knee, the action causing this leg to be broken, bent in the opposite direction.

The Xillien beast lashed out with his right arm, but the Meteor Man grabbed it with one hand and punched the elbow with the other, bending it in the other direction before jumping back and firing several more arrow-shaped beams. His armor was much weaker now from the Meteor Proton Beam and beatdown earlier. The beams now stabbed into thick black sinew, causing blood to fly everywhere with each shot. Monster X tried to snap his arm back into place but the moment he did one of the stabbing rays hit him on the unarmored part of his arm and cut it clean in two at the elbow! The lower arm shook the earth as it hit the ground with a loud thud that could be heard for miles. Zone Fighter ran forward and spun the beast around, grabbing him by the forked tail before flying upward, higher into the clouds that have been dropping heavy rain on the city all night, lightning flashing in the sky before they slammed back into the earth, Hikaru forcing him into the ground after flying at his max speed, crushing the Keizer kaiju between the planet and his 55,000 ton mass.

Zone Fighter ripped his foe’s tail off with a scream before jumping some distance away, writing the shape of a shield with his glowing hands. Monster X turned around and fired his Gravity Beams. They crashed into the glowing energy barrier known as the Hyper-Barrier. Just like the Zone-Barrier he had used before, they blocked energy attacks. But unlike the Zone-Barrier, the Hyper-Barrier also sent them back. The creature borne of Gorath learned this the hard way as a split second after the Gravity Bolts hit the shield-shaped energy, they were fired back at him. The Super Space Monster bellowed as his own energy tore his already deep wounds, while the Peaceland protector struck some quick poses as he summoned the energy to his second strongest attack.

    “Meteor Missile Might!”

Bracelets filled with giant, super-powered missiles appeared on his wrists in a bright flash. Unlike most missiles made on Earth, these could rip into kaiju like giant bullets. He fired a barrage of missiles which tore into Monster X’s body. The space demon screamed out as explosion after explosion rocked his body, blood and sinew spraying out of him. The heat was so intense that some of his wounds could not bleed for they were instantly cauterized. Zone Fighter made sure every shot counted, and once he used up all his ammo, he fired his strongest attack once again. The last time it had hurt the space monster badly, but didn’t kill him. This time it was so weak from the fight that it HAD to. He struck several short posses again, summoning energy for one more attack.

    “Meteor Proton Beam!”

Once again a thin, dark blue beam fired from his crest and slammed into the demon beast who vanished in a huge explosion. When the fire and smoke cleared away, the somehow even more skeletal form of Monster X limped out towards him. Zone Fighter just stood there aghast as he stared at his foe. The warrior who slayed worlds was confused. Why wasn’t he fighting back? He limped even closer, charging up his energy, his eyes glowing yellow but quickly fading back to red. His vision began to blur. The ultimate Xillien monster was in shock as everything grew more and more dark. He just wanted to get away now. He limped past the blue giant and after what felt like forever, he toppled onto his side. His glowing red eyes went dim, then dark. He let one last breath of steam escape his mouth before bloody foam spilled out. Then he exploded with the force of a miniature nuclear device, shaking the city.

Monster X was gone. Zone Fighter had won.

Suddenly, twin red jagged beams hit the Hero of Justice in the back. He turned around to see Hedorah, the Smog Monster, staring back at him! Zone Fighter knew there was no way he could beat this creature. It was more than a monster, it was a super monster! Even Godzilla could not kill this thing on his own. He knew he would die, but he refused to leave. Godzilla, Gamera, Biollante, Mothra, Rodan and all his other monster brothers were too busy fighting other evil menaces in other parts of the world. Zone Fighter was the only one capable of defending Russia in its time of need. He just hoped Japan was still safe from any attacks and that one of the others got to it before something vile like a swarm of Gyaos or Legion did.

Suddenly, a series of tanks, helicopters, jets and maser tanks came out to join him in this fight. He had helped save their motherland when no one else could. He answered a cry of help that others couldn’t. They would do everything in their power to help this hero. Hikaru had thought about retreating, but decided not to. When Bagan had attacked, he was unable to join the fight. He had been in a car crash in his human form which left him in a hospital bed and cast for weeks. He could only sit and watch as the war with Bagan, King Ghidorah and all the other evil kaiju was broadcasted on every TV all over the world. He felt so useless. He never wanted to feel like that again.

He would stay and fight with these brave men and women in this suicide mission. His only regret was that he would never have that rematch with Ultraman.

His belt buckle turned from yellow to a flashing red. He had only one hundred and ten seconds left, but he would make sure to give Hedorah hell for every second. He fired his arrow beams before charging head-first into battle as the Russian army unleashed their payload of rockets, missiles and masers on the giant monster of pollution.

Zone Fighter was going to fight until he died.

And they would join him to the bitter end.

It was two days before Christmas and a creature was stirring. To be exact, an Anguillasaurus that might very well be the last of his kind. Anguirus lumbered across the winter scene, barely feeling the bite of frost against his earth colored scales.

This humbug wanted nothing more than to rest his horned head for the rest of the winter. So with a heavy head, he raised his spiked nose towards the cloud covered sky. One place, that’s all he wanted, one place where he wouldn’t be disturbed. One place where he could escape the raging conflagration that he had been dragged into the past couple of months. One place untouched by man, and even more preferably, another monster.

Frustration. That’s the word that would have surfaced in the mind of the spiked horror right then and there if he had any knowledge of the English language.

He climbed over yet another mountain in this winter wonderland and behold! The ideal place! Not a structure in sight besides abandoned Shinto shrines, and not a single creature in this place that he could smell. This was a territory unmarked. And not only that – but it proved to him to be an ideal haven from the hostile cold, perfect for his hibernation. The wind came down in breezes rather than a crippling cold storm as had been the case in other lands. No obnoxious sounds – only whistling wind and the occasional winter song of wolves howling in the distance and calmly echoing through this valley. Other than these things, the place was still.

Anguirus entered the center of this place, giving a wail of satisfaction to the skies that watched over him. Surely, fortune had shined on him today.

Thinking too soon, it seemed – an unusually harsh wind blew past him, nearly moving him a few paces and almost tearing trees from their places. The trees stayed in place, because this wasn’t a creature of destruction that had just swept over, rather a creature of peace. One who went by the name of Mothra.

Silence filled the shrine, as there stood two creatures that had equally been allies as well as enemies to the King of the Monsters himself.

Now, this had been a sacred domain where souls rested and were now disturbed by another ancient beast. Mutely, they had summoned the Queen of Monsters to aid them in their rest. Winter was, in fact, a season of rest for most. Mothra was obliged to answer this call. And here she was, blocking what of the setting sun had slipped between the cracks of two clouds.

The divine goddess chirped a shrill warning.

The Fierce Dragon snarled back, he wasn’t going to surrender this long sought for sanctuary to the likes of this “Monster God.” The quadruped stood his ground with all four legs and let loose another wail followed by a hollow, guttural growl sounding off at the base of his throat. Infant Island’s matriarch immediately heeded this rebounded warning and immediately took defense to it. As she cast a shadow that put him in darkness, she flapped her great wings to produce winds that uprooted trees and dragged the dinosaur backwards. He held his ground as well as he could. It was going nowhere, and Mothra decided on a more physical approach at defeating this saurian beast – and she rushed in for an aerial tackle. Smack! She caught the unsuspecting creature in the chest and sent poor Anguirus on his back. The lepidopteran attempted to take advantage of this opportunity – But to no avail as a spiny, whip-like tail came crashing down on the giant moth.

With a surprised-sounding shriek, Mothra dropped faster than a sack of bricks, but made all the more impact as her spherical head cracked against the forest floor. Dazed and confused, without much else to do, she blindly flapped her wings to gain momentum. The ground was no place for a creature of the sky. A downed bird was a dead bird, and the same thing applied to insects like her. This shot in the dark managed to keep Anguirus at bay, for he had been blinded by excessively getting dirt and uprooted trees in his eyes. The divine moth was defending this land – and it seemed as though the land was defending her back. She thanked Mother Nature as she was able to return to the sky and the humming UFO sound of her hover returned to her. She chirped with relief as she backed away from the fire monster who had only now managed to get the trees out of his eyes.

Now, the defender of the Earth realized that Anguirus was a monster of close quarters – not of a distance battle. So this would be the advantage she would have. She decided to let loose golden beams from her antennae which left scorching black lines followed by a spew of sparks from the Anguillasaurus’s flesh. He cried out – the pain! But it was short lived, and he recovered. He ran as a start, leapt into the air, but missed.

Mothra chirped with an encore sensation of relief and she widely turned around to meet her adversary with more antenna beams. Once on his feet, the spiked reptile once again fell on his back, wailing, this time out of frustration – the same feeling he had gotten beforehand. Anguirus rolled over onto his feet, and lowered himself onto his haunches. Looking around suspiciously at the sky that had no longer done him any justice. If any fortune had shined on him then, it would not have been the sky that he would thank.

Where was Mothra? The question was rudely answered as more beams scorched the back of his head. She was swooping in from behind, he knew. A fatal mistake, for this Anguillasaurus came equipped with a carapace filled with spines. He pushed off the ground, and what a fatal mistake it was, for his mark had been hit. Not only was Anguirus able to knock Mothra out of the sky, but he was able to land on his opponent to boot. Ah! Surely, fortune was to shine on him! But not for Mothra, who struggled to defend this land as she may.

A crushed chest, wings drilled full of holes, blood spurting in various directions and flooding the forest below, The Killer of the Living saw that this had been a very, very fatal move indeed. And Mothra weakly chirped out to the heavens – the last thoughts and words of a Monster God had she any words at all. Her head went back, and her eyes dimmed out. Anguirus, with the blood of his opponent running down his back and his own blood running down his neck, chest and shoulders, had given room for this unfortunate creature. Various wailing sounds filled the sky in unison as he searched around.

The souls! It must have been! They were mourning the loss of their guardian. The area was once again still, and an unnerving feeling was rising in the throat and chest of Anguirus. Almost a feeling of remorse. This beautiful place had been defiled by his monstrous way of life. Despite the difficulty he had gone through to gain this place as his own, he decided it was not for him now – and he left this calm place behind in the whistling wind and flurries of snow. A good-bye was said to him by one long, last howl from one of the lupine greeters that he became more and more distant from. He held his head high. There just had to be another place to rest his head for the winter.

    K.W.C. Kaiju War Chronicles

Kaijuologists were stunned. Something strange was going on. Recently, a program was put in effect to place microchips under the skin of the creatures on Monster Island so that satellites could keep track of them, should any escape. They tested this new system for a week and it seemed to work fine. But then something unprecedented happened. Two of the monsters, Varan and Manda, were missing from the island’s complex. Even stranger still, the satellites meant to track these two were giving readings that said they weren’t even on Earth any more. After hours of checking their instruments, they confirmed that they were working correctly.

But where were they? According to their data, they were where no one would have ever thought to look for them: Mars. Several satellites sent by NASA years before to study the red planet had confirmed it. Everyone was in shock. The two monsters were photographed on the red plant, near the icecap. How were they breathing? How did they get there? Pictures taken even showed that some of the ice had melted just enough to make a small lake. What was going on? Everyone’s questions would be answered when NASA would record the epic struggle that was about to play into these strange events.

Varan landed on the shore of the lake and growled. He had been spending the last four hours searching his surroundings. He didn’t know where he was, but he didn’t like it. It was far too cold for his taste. Manda was curled upon on a cliffside, watching the lizard. The guardian serpent didn’t see the point in wasting his energy looking for a way out. They were stuck and there was no way out of it. He didn’t know where they were, but his instincts told him that they were far away from home. Two objects in the distance caught the sea monster’s golden eyes. As they got closer, the triphibian stopped rampaging long enough to see that they were really four objects. Two UFOs hovered towards them. Below them, being carried by the twin craft, were Gigan and Megalon.

After a few moments, the UFOs unleashed the two kaiju and flew off. Before either monster hit the ground, a napalm bomb hit the mountainside, causing Mu’s defender to fall in a heap. Varan charged, attacking the Nebulan menace barely a second after he landed. Sparks flew as the squamate’s claws slashed across the metal armor. Caught off guard by this sudden attack, the cyborg toppled over. Megalon raised his spaded arm, about to strike, when something wrapped around his legs and caused the Seatopian god to fall on his back. Manda hissed as he lifted his tail up, the squirming insectoid in his coils, and twisted his body to throw his foe headfirst into a mountain. When the dust cleared, the drilling demon was missing.

Gigan slammed the unbelievable kaiju in the face as hard as he could with his scythes, blood pooling on the ground around the alien assassin. Varan’s face was bloody but he refused to stop his assault, slashing between hammer blows, but just then, the ground exploded as a drill slammed into his scaled side. The monster monitor stopped his attack and howled in pain as blood splattered everywhere. The space monster continued the onslaught as he blasted him in the face with his cluster beam, causing the beast to fall over. The fowl fiend called out to his ally just as the scarab beast popped out of the ground. The two slammed their arms together and laughed. Manda hissed at Megalon, only to be blasted in the face by his horn lightning, just as his armored ally shot out his grappling hooks.

Varan felt his neck get tighter as the sneering extraterrestrial pulled him in closer. The royal serpent lashed out, wrapping himself around his foe’s armored torso, trying to squeeze the life out of him. Megalon couldn’t move his arms as he struggled, already he could feel his body being crushed! The harder he tried to break free, the harder Manda squeezed him. The snake-like kaiju had his face dangling just mere inches away from his horned head, taunting him. Left with no other option, the subterranean terror spat a napalm bomb in the dragon’s face, causing an explosion. His grip loosened enough for one drilled arm to break free and slam right into the fanged face, forcing the reptile to fall to the ground. The underwater menace looked up and hissed only to have a two clawed foot slam into his teeth. Manda rolled away, while Megalon shot a volley of horn bolts and napalm bombs, each explosion causing the prone creature to roll farther away, making sure wasn’t going to get close to him again.

Gigan, meanwhile, was wailing on the beast once known as Baradagi with a flurry of scythe swipes. Varan was covered from head to toe in wounds as he struggled to avoid the onslaught. The war machine turned around and jabbed, impaling the spiked beast on his tail anchors and flying several meters before swinging his tail around. The poor reptile slid off the tail blades and smacked headfirst into the same mountain Megalon had before. The lake creature had just shook debris off of himself as the intergalactic monster opened his chest ports, firing his razor discs. Varan opened the membranes that ran from under his arms to the sides of his legs and quickly scaled the mountain, barely avoiding the discs, before gliding into the sky. He looked back and saw that they were following him, then spotted Megalon as he kicked Manda into the lake. He nose dived at the giant cockroach, pulling up at the last second. One of the spinning discs couldn’t pull off the maneuver and slammed right into the giant bug’s back. The god of Seatopia screamed as the disc dug into his flesh, greenish-yellow blood splattering everywhere. He turned around to fire at Varan but ended up blasting the other disc by mistake. Shrapnel flew everywhere, tearing into the flying kaiju’s back. The sadistic avian shot another red beam from his cycloptic eye, explosions blasting across the lizard’s body as he fell from the air.

Megalon turned his attention back to his emerald foe and jumped in the lake, ready to drown the overgrown snake. What the oafish terror didn’t know was that he was now in Manda’s home turf. The serpentine kaiju slowly crept up behind his foe, following patiently, waiting for him to get in deeper water. With the speed of lightning, he shot forward and wrapped all around his foe’s grey body and dragged him underneath the surface. The great insect’s arms and legs were tied up as he sank to the bottom, the royal reptile tightening his grip more and more. Megalon, in his futile attempts to escape, shot a barrage of lightning from horn and napalm bombs from his mouth, but Manda was wrapped too close for the weapons to find their target. After a while, the defender’s movements slowed down as he lost the energy to fight back. Within mere seconds, the Seatopian god was crushed, his guts flowing out of his corpse and filling the lake.

The Mu guardian slithered out of the lake covered in Megalon’s innards when it heard Gigan shriek. The cyborg flew directly at the serpent, but Varan dropped out of the sky and landed right on top of him, clawing and kicking. The intergalactic terror’s eye glowed red, but the triphibian delivered a headbutt hard enough to shatter it before the energy could be discharged. Now blinded, the fair weather fiend panicked, jumping right back to his feet. Manda leapt up and wrapped his serpent-like tail around the space monster’s arms and forced them behind his back. His tail snaked around the machine’s neck and pulled hard, exposing his throat. The unbelievable creature turned around and slammed his tail into the cyborg’s neck. Again. Sparks flew. Again. More sparks flew and this time he could see the neck was tearing. He turned around and bit down, his teeth punching through the metal. He put his claws on paldron covered shoulders, pushing with his hands while pulling with his jaws. Gigan let out one final shriek before his head was torn clean off.

Blood and oil poured out of his neck. A spark caused the oil to ignite, Gigan’s neck looking like a fountain of fire in seconds. Manda roared and Varan shrieked. A warning to anyone who dared to attack them.

Back on Earth, everyone was stunned when they realized that this whole thing could only be the result of one thing. Aliens were kidnapping their monsters and using them as weapons. The fight with Gigan and Megalon was just a test to see how useful Manda and Varan were. It was only a matter of time before they would invade the Earth, with the victors becoming victims….

Jet Jaguar’s metallic feet clanked against the pebbles amongst Monster Island’s soil. He needed to find Godzilla and fast! Mankind was once more at the mercy of the Seatopian deity, Megalon, and the Star Hunter M cyborg, Gigan. Knowing from past experience that he could not handle both monsters on his own, the heroic machine sped through the air, making his way towards Monster Island to once again call upon his ally the King of the Monsters. Upon landing on the island, however, he heard the sound of chaos. The calls of many kaiju filled the air. Rodan, Anguirus, Baragon, Gorosaurus, Varan, even Godzilla himself. There was definitely quite a battle going on. The robot defender realized he had to lend a hand and began rushing through the jungle, towards the war cries.

Before too long, however, the roaring ceased. Jet Jagaur stopped in his tracks and tilted his head. Had the battle been won? If it had, by whom? Shortly after that, the ground began to rumble. But this was from no monstrous footsteps, it felt more as if something huge was rolling across the ground. The electronic guardian’s theory proved correct when a large, spiked sphere rolled past. The human-sized robot was nearly crushed underneath the strange ball, but he managed to fly out of the way, barely avoiding an early fate. The neon defender landed and turned to look at the strange sphere, and quickly realized it was turning around! Jet realized that whatever this thing was, it was intent on running him over. Folding and swinging his arms, he activated one of his many special powers and became engulfed in a blinding light, growing to his full height of fifty meters! Whatever this ball was, Jet Jaguar was about to make it regret its attempted hit-and-run.

Gororin was briefly taken aback by its target’s sudden new size. But it did little to deter the monstrous cactus. It rolled directly at its foe, intent on bowling the colorful robot over with the same ease it did the island’s residents. Seconds before it could smash into Jet Jaguar’s legs, however, the machine somersaulted over it, rolling off his back and getting onto his legs. The malevolent weed turned and tried to strike again, this time leaping into the air, aiming at the robot’s chest. But Ibuki’s opus was quick to retaliate, spinning around and slamming his foot into the plant creature, knocking it aside. As the evil pincushion crashed to the ground, the android cried out as he realized the cactus’ spines had pierced through his metallic plating. Reaching down, he pulled a small handful of spines out of the side of his foot and turned to face his opponent.

The Xillien weapon’s curved yellow eyes narrowed with satisfaction. Despite its foe’s armored hide, he could still be harmed by the plant’s spines. Almost immediately, Gororin fired a volley of its needles, aimed directly at his foe’s permanent grinning face. Seconds before they hit, Jet Jaguar crossed his arms over his face, blocking the attack as the spines bounced off his metal limbs. Despite the successful protection of his smile, most of the needles stabbed into his arms, however. The sentient machine pulled his arms down, but before he could try to remove the spines, the spiked orb rolled forward and leapt into the air, smashing into his decorated chest.

Sparks burst from the robot as the spiny ball collided with his chest, knocking him to the ground. As the mechanical hero turned over onto his stomach and started to get back onto his feet, the vengeful vegetation swerved around and leapt into the air once again, this time slamming into his electronic enemy’s back and knocking him flat on his face.

As the prickly tumbleweed rolled around and prepared to strike again, the machine who fought for man quickly flipped up onto his feet, striking a battle pose as he prepared for the cactus’ next move. The plant launched another series of spines at the superhero, who dove to the ground and rolled out of the way. Grabbing a boulder from the ground as he went, the heroic robot held it up, deflecting the onslaught of needles. Continuing to use the boulder as a shield, Jet Jaguar made his way towards the evil plant. Not wanting the robot to get any closer, the alien monster stopped firing its spines and rolled away, disappearing into the jungle.

Jet stepped forward, scanning the area but not seeing a single sign of his spherical foe. Still clutching the boulder in his hands, he marched forward, trudging through the thick foliage. The android looked everywhere, but saw no sign of his diminutive opponent amongst the trees. How could such a destructive little beast hide so well?

Suddenly, his audio sensors picked up the sound of needles hurtling through the air. Quickly turning around and holding the boulder up, the technology born savior blocked that wave of spines. He stomped towards their point of origin, but by the time he got there, Gororin was gone. Just as suddenly, another series of spines were unleashed. A scant few embedded themselves into colored armor, but most were deflected by the rock. Once again, when Jet Jaguar tried to strike, the chlorophyll scoundrel had rolled away before he could reach him.

The electronic fighter was starting to grow concerned. He glanced down at his damaged chest plate. This foe wasn’t like other monsters. It was small, deceptively fast and its needles were more than capable of piercing his metal hide. And thanks to that same combination, the beast was almost impossible to hit. How was he going to overcome this creature?

Jet Jaguar cried out as another volley of cactus spines stabbed into his back, trailing down his pronounced “spine.” Dropping the boulder and clutching at his back, the robot left himself wide open to another attack by Gororin, who smashed into his chest, knocking him back-first onto the ground and driving the needles further into his back. The mechanical hero got back to his feet, only to have the Xillien nuisance speed by, sweeping his legs out from under him. The neon superhero toppled once again, his face smashing into the dirt.

Getting up onto his knees, Jet Jaguar quickly looked around, trying to locate his foe as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he saw more than he bargained for when a series of needles stabbed into his eyes, shattering them and effectively blinding the robot.

Scratching at his missing lights, the android protector realized he was fighting a losing battle. Though he had come here with a mission, he knew he had to pull back or else he might be damaged beyond repair before even making contact with Godzilla. Holding his arms up at his sides, Jet began to activate flight mode.

The robot’s feet were barely off the ground before Gororin smashed into his chest once again. The blow was enough to bash open the silver chest plate completely and send him tumbling out of the air. Crashing onto his back, Jet Jaguar held his hand out, trying to rise back to his feet, only for the exposed wiring in his chest to spark, causing him to fall back to the dirt, lifeless. The sound of slowing machinery was heard and the man made hero moved no more.

The sphere’s twin yellow eyes were alight with evil glee as its opponent perished. Very few could expect to survive an encounter with the plant monster Gororin.

Jet Jaguar craned his neck up to look at the towering beast. The human-sized robot was on a tall cliff, and even still, he had trouble seeing the top of the creature before him. She was currently unaware of him, a fact which the android was reluctant to change. Biollante was resting peacefully, her tendrils lazily slithering about the area. The sentient robot didn’t want to disturb her, as she had no intent of harming anyone, but there were several settlements nearby which were in danger from the massive plant. He had to try to get her to leave the area without endangering the nearby humans. Making his decision, Ibuki’s opus took to the air and flew off of the cliff, landing a good distance away and in front of the hybrid. Letting loose a robotic cry, Jet Jaguar began to wave his arms around in a specific pattern. Seconds later, a bright light burst from his chest. (more…)
