NOBODY EXPECTS A K.W.C. APRIL FOOLS PRANK A SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!
Anyways.
In all earnestness, this had not been fully intended to turn out this way; it was kind of just coincidence that it happened. Well, kinda. It was why we cut out a match for February, just to make fully sure this would happen as intended. I mean, when Match 500 overlaps on or near April Fools, who wouldn’t want to take advantage of that?
Though there had been some changes to the plan; while the overall concept and starting idea were the same, the original gag was meant to be far closer to what become today’s K.W.C. Side Trip, “Burning Aftermath” with a much more serious execution with no blatant hint as to whether it was a gag or not. But I liked what I did with Burning Aftermath a little too much to simply relegate it as a one-off gag (same for Vincent’s spectacular banner!), so I opted to convert the prank with more of a blatant punchline. While the joke half was meant to be closer to something like an impromptu “oh no, we’re running late with 500!”, I like the simplicity of “500 has been cancelled” a lot more.
There is also the once in a lifetime chance to have the same banner completely overtake the main Toho Kingdom header. Not something you get to see or do every day, haha.

But more importantly, to clear the air, Match 500 is still happening. However, there is a catch; we have taken the liberty to postpone any future Match updates for the foreseeable future. I hope you all understand that we are putting a ton of love and effort into this monstrosity, and rather than beholden to the strict schedule we’ve set for ourselves, we will celebrate the 500th Match of the Kaiju War Chronicles with something special. I also don’t wish to skip over 500, as we have plans for some really cool inclusions that’d be worth waiting for in their own right. Watch the trailer if you haven’t had the chance to, it’s going to be plenty exciting. I do want to be transparent with the current plans to put concerns at ease.
– We will have the release of 500 be on November 2nd. Regular Match scheduling will resume one month after the posting of Match 500. That will give ample time for readers to full absorb Match 500 and we will move from there with our exciting endeavors thereafter.
– In between today and when 500 is released, the K.W.C. HDs will be released in the 10-day slot that would normally occupy a K.W.C. Match space, so there will still be regular K.W.C. updates, even if it’s not Matches themselves.
– K.W.C. Side Trips and Multimedias will be available for posting! That way, if you want to supply material for the K.W.C. while Match 500 is being worked on, feel more than free to send a Side Trip or Multimedia our way!
I hope this more than clears up any concerns you might have had. So please, be patient–Match 500 is being made with a ton of love and care. We hope you understand for this decision.
