In a world where the appearance of monsters
was becoming ever more frequent, the need for
a variety of quick-response military vehicles
presented itself to the Japanese Self-Defense
Force. Enter the SAR-1, equipped with a sophisticated
radar system used for long-range communication
during the heat of battle. These machines were
summoned during the tension of the 1972 conflicts,
including the initial assault on Anguirus at Sagami
Bay, and the final battle between Godzilla, Anguirus,
Gigan, and King Ghidorah at Children's Land in
Tokyo. Despite the defeat of these creatures,
the shadow of conflict still remained. A mysterious
civilization known as the Seatopians unleashed
the gargantuan roach Megalon only one year later
on the mainland, and though the military fought
valiantly, the SAR-1 and its armed allies were
forced to retreat. Fortunately, Godzilla and the
mechanized wonder Jet Jaguar repelled Megalon,
even after this new enemy was aided by the dreaded
return of Gigan to planet Earth.
Decades passed, and near the close of the 20th
century, the SAR-1 was still in use. After the
Kilaak alien race gained control over the Earth's
monsters and staged a calculated strike on the
world's major cities, the Self-Defense Force attempted
to destroy the base of the extra terrestrials
at the foot of Mt. Fuji. The SAR-1 was among those
participating in the assault; however, Godzilla
and Anguirus devastated the resistance and forced
a full retreat. In the end, the Earthlings finally
prevailed against their oppressors from afar,
and the SAR-1 remained ready to provide its ever-necessary
service in case the world was ever again forced
to defend itself from danger.
