In the heady days of the Cold War, both the United
States and the Soviet Union were engaged in a
never-ending arms race for supremacy on all fronts.
Among one of the fronts waged in this war was
in the deep dark depths of the ocean where advanced
submarines armed with the latest technologies
lurked for their respective governments, waiting
for the order to attack one another.
However, in the early 1960s, all of that came
to a halt as an underwater civilization called
the Mu Empire emerged from the farthest depths
of the Pacific Ocean. Claiming the world as once
their own, they demanded that the nations of the
world to surrender. Among one of their conditions
was that they find Captain Hachiro Jinguji and
stop him from working on a secret submarine project
that he had started working on at the end of World
War II.
After seeing the full-blown demonstration of
the Mu Empire's might, the nations of the world
deployed their navies and air forces to meet the
threat. Among the weapons deployed was the Red
Satan Nuclear Submarine. Based on the latest advances
in submarine technology, the world considered
the Red Satan the top of the line in naval warfare.
Among the capabilities at its disposal were to
dive to incredible depths as well as the standard
capabilities to fire torpedoes.
Dispatched to find the Mu Empire, the Red Satan
would get its chance soon enough as it detected
a Mu Submarine on the surface. When the XO suggested
that they attack, the Red Satan's captain
reminded him that they had orders to find the
main base of the Mu Empire. As the Mu Submarine
descended back into the dark depths of the ocean,
the Red Satan pursued at its best speed. Unfortunately,
the submarine was soon diving well beyond its
safety limits while the Mu Submarine seemed to
have no problem at all. Unfortunately, it was
too late, as the captain ordered the Red Satan
to surface, one of the crewmembers reported that
their diving systems were out of order. That was
the last thought anyone could think of before
the enormous water pressure of the Pacific Ocean
crushed the submarine and it went up in a huge
explosion. With its destruction, the authorities
had no other present solution to deal with the
Mu Empire and in desperation; a search began for
Jinguji and his secret submarine.
