Description

The idea of people having extrasensory powers such as telepathy, telekinesis and the power to see into the future has been around during the time of the Greeks, though it had been introduced to the modern world during the 1870s. The name of people with such power has changed over the years with the public describing them as prophets, seers, clairvoyants, and, of course, psychics. Debate has raged about its existence with a large part of the population disbelieving that it exists despite the fact that have been small instances of proof emerging throughout the centuries. Among one of the most famous people who the public thought to have such powers was the French apothecary Nostradamus. Even during modern times, schools that dealt with the issue of psychics have sprung up with the most notable being in Japan.

In the aftermath of the carnage of Godzilla's attack on Tokyo in 1984, the JSDF attempted to develop new measures to the combat the king of the monsters should he re-emerge from his volcanic prison on Mount Mihara. In a surprise to some, the idea of employing psychics as weapons against the monster emerged on the list of new weapons development programs.

The idea of psychics being involved in the war against Godzilla and the other kaiju started to come into being in 1989 when Japanese children at the specialized schools suddenly began to have dreams about Godzilla. At first, the public and the government disbelieved the notion but soon confirmation came in by other means. As the new war against Godzilla and the other kaiju proceeded throughout the years, the public, particularly the military, employed the power of psychics to combat the kaiju threat. Often, that came in the form of picking up the monster's presence; however, they also had other uses that include controlling or communicating with a monster and even helping to locate and accurately target the weak point of a monster, such as in the battle with Mechagodzilla against Godzilla. In the case of a psychic controlling a kaiju, a special project, dubbed the T-Project, came into effect with the use of a psychic and specialized technology. However, that project proved to be a failure.

Some psychics have come into prominence during the fighting against Godzilla and the other kaiju. Among, one of those and perhaps the most famous psychic was a young Japanese woman by the name Miki Saegusa, who played a pivotal part in the war against Godzilla as she was one of the first to demonstrate the possibilities of her powers during the war against the kaiju.
