Description

Absolutely the most powerful of Japan's conventional ground vehicles. The Hybrid Tank is a cross of the best elements of several weapons. Boasting a nearly impossible to overheat 200 mm cannon, and topped with two yellow-tipped rockets, the machine was a marvel. Not stopping there, the vehicle was equipped with two, smaller 160mm cannons which could fire in quicker succession. The two barrels both flanked the tank-like 200mm central cannon. To top it off, the tank was given its own radar system as well located above near the rockets.

Holding all the strengths of a tank and missile launcher, the vehicle was quickly dispatched. In the 1970s, the vehicles saw their first combat against kaiju. They were mobilized to support against the approaching Anguirus, sent by Godzilla to investigate, and later against the space monsters Gigan and King Ghidorah. While a swiss army knife of offensive prowess, the vehicles still did not match the attack capabilities of the Type 66 Maser Beam Tanks which still ended up being the trump card in most of the Self Defense Force conflicts with the monsters. With a year past, Japan was once again under attack, and the Hybrid Tanks were again sent into war against a monster called Megalon from a Seatopian empire. The tanks helped to support the defensive efforts, but as before did little to actually halt the attacking monsters.

In the year 1999, with the world under attack by an invading alien race called the Kilaakian, the Hybrid Tanks were sent to travel the roads to the Kilaak base. Along with a half a dozen of its comrades, the drivers sought to end the alien threat with blasting gunfire. Unfortunately they met resistance... resistance in the form of Godzilla and Anguirus. The twin guard dogs attacked vicariously, and stomped the belching Hybrids with little care. Crushing their metal hull beneath their clawed feet. Once again, the Kilaakian had been one step ahead of humanity, and mankind wondered, would they ever destroy this conquering race?
