The year was 1989, and tensions were high. Following Godzilla's slumber in the heart of Mt. Mihara, he ventured into the Pacific and began his relentless trek toward Japan. The Self Defense Force was hot on his trail, and one of the battleships sent into heated battle was the DDH-142 Haruna Class Destroyer. Though the crew fought valiantly against the unstoppable nuclear leviathan, their gunfire proved futile as Godzilla easily destroyed all that stood in his path. The fierce, aquatic war machines were called into battle yet again during the frequent monster crises of the 1990's, with skirmishes involving not only a more powerful Godzilla, but also involving the mysterious Battra on one occasion. In each situation, their resolve was met with futility. Whether or not they were dispatched amidst the fury of any further monster attacks is unknown.
