A full fledged manga adaptation of the film Godzilla
vs. King Ghidorah (1991). As people will come
to expect from Shogakukan's mangas, this book takes
numerous artistic liberties with the story; however,
the art found inside is very good. There is noticeable
detail in everything from the MBT-92's (maser tanks)
up to Godzilla, whose appearance harks back more to
the suit used in The
Return of Godzilla (1984). As far as the story
itself, it's actually better than the one used in the
film Godzilla
vs. King Ghidorah (1991), with the sole exception
being the omission of Shindo's character, and with him
the very memorable moment before the final battle. Shindo's
character isn't the only absent character though: Miki
Saegusa, Professor Mazaki, and Yuzo Tsuchiashi are also
gone from this version, and the story is actually better
because of it, less characters that need developing,
and the pacing is noticeable improved over its theatrical
counterpart. Overall, there are enough changes here
to warrant checking it out just to see what was changed
alone.
