IGN has added four videos for the DS version of Godzilla: Unleashed, finally giving people a first look at the game in motion. The videos show Godzilla, Mothra, Battra and Megalon in action in both a submerged city stage and aerial levels. Unfortunately, it appears that Battra doesn't have the correct sound effects in the game, as at least in the video Mothra's were utilized for the character.

On closer inspection, it would appear that the page on Atari's online store contains a great deal more information on the title than one might gleam from a first glance, due to the fact that it appears that the game has its own unique copyright on the bottom of the page. This copyright confirms a fairly large roster of characters, most of which will likely be "enemy" characters. A number of surprises are revealed from this, including characters like Hedorah and Manda appearing in the game, as neither looks to be showing up in the console versions. Also, and oddly, the copyright cites "Atoragon", which is the original international title for Atragon (1963), although the spelling with the "o" has rarely ever been used and today Toho International seems to prefer the latter. The strange thing, though, is the fact that it's cited here, while there is no mention of the Gotengo, Atragon or Atoragon in the copyright for the console versions despite the fact that the ship was already seen in game.

Atari has spruced up their listing for Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash on their online store, adding in a lot of screenshots for the game, which marks the first real piece of news related to the title in quite some time. The images show off the first look at Rodan, King Ghidorah, Moguera and a charcoal gray creature that looks to be a boss.

The full title of the Nintendo DS version of Godzilla: Unleashed has finally been revealed, along with its ESRB rating. Playing on a delightful pun, the words: Double Smash have been added to denote the difference between the Wii and DS versions. The game has earned an "E" rating.

The latest issue of Nintendo Power has a three page feature on both the Wii and DS versions of the game. Although no new details were released for the Wii incarnation, several new tidbits were made available for the DS title. The most startling piece of information, is that the game was designed primarily as a multiplayer experience, with a lot of emphasis on cooperative play as one player controls the ground character while the other takes to the sky. The multiplayer portion can be played with a single cartridge, wirelessly with other another DS. However, multi-cart play is also mentioned, raising into question if the single cart experience might differ. Sadly, no mention of Wi-fi support for this title as of yet.

For the first time, the "Surge" aspect of the game is also revealed. Simply stated, each character has a special move which can be achieved by filling up their respective meter through defeating opponents. When used, the character will perform a "Surge Attack" and clear the screen. If both characters use their "Surge Attack" at the same time, then the entire vicinity of enemies will be cleared.

The article also goes into detail about the game's characters, including the announcement of Anguirus and Megalon, adding them to the previously disclosed Godzilla, Mothra, Gigan and Battra for a total of six playable characters known to date. The article also makes mention of a total of four aerial characters, and 16 possible pairs in total. Assuming all of the monsters can pair with each other, this would mean a total of four aerial and four ground characters in the game, leaving just the two undisclosed aerial monsters yet to be revealed.

The magazine goes into further detail by mentioning that SpaceGodzilla, Mechagodzilla and Ebirah will show up as enemy units, alongside the previously known Biollante. The title is stated to also feature a wealth of unlockable content, including: concept art, music, sound effects, art entries for a 3-D gallery and something stated as "selections for the game's Monster Manifest".

IGN has the first screens and information on the DS version of this game. Being developed by Santa Cruz Games, the DS version will be stark departure from its Wii counterpart, despite sharing the same name. The game looks to be a side scroller, utilizing the dual screen aspect to have a flying character on the top and a ground based one on the bottom. Players can switch between the two during the game, and the title is said to have a lot of focus on multiplayer aspects. The graphics are very stylized at the moment, showing simplistic and deformed, in terms of body size ratios, looks to the characters which will probably polarize a lot of people's feelings about the DS version.

Presently, some of the characters shown include: Godzilla, Mothra, Gigan, Battra and Biollante. Unfortunately, the image screen doesn't load at the moment on IGN's page for the title, generating a "404", but hopefully it will be fixed soon.
