First there was Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters. Then there was Godzilla: Gangsters & Goliaths. Now IDW is following up with another comic series based on the King of the Monsters titled Godzilla: Legends.

The new run will be another mini series rather than an ongoing and will feature a new creative team with each issue. For the first issue, artist Matt Frank takes over full artist duties on both the cover and interior art. Matt is also co-writing the comic with Jeff Prezenkowski.

For the variant cover, well known genre artist Bob Eggleton is creating the first piece. Both covers feature Godzilla and Anguirus, while the main one by Matt Frank also features Destoroyah front and center. Currently, there are no direct details or hints on the plot.

Again, the series will be based on one shots, and so a new creative team will be brought in for issue number two.

Update: The first issue of Godzilla: Legends is now available for pre-order from tfaw.com. Pre-orders are accepted through November 7th, while the issue will ship 23 days after the closure on November 30th.

Godzilla: Legends artist and writer Matt Frank was also awarded as part of the "Best of Austin 2011" by the Austin Chronicle for his work with IDW. In particular, he was bestowed the honor for his dedication on creating the many, many variants for Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters #1.
