Although perhaps more mainstream than the news we usually report on, in the June 22nd issue of Entertainment Weekly the editors of the publication have compiled a list of the "25 greatest action movies". Although the list is, not surprisingly, dominated by US cinema, a Toho title did slip into the ranks. The film in question is Akira Kurosawa's 1954 epic Seven Samurai at #6. Movies ahead of the production include The Matrix, The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2), Raiders of the Lost Ark, Aliens and Die Hard at #1, which has become controversial among some due to the timing of the list with release of Live Free or Die Hard and the fact that star Bruce Willis conducted an interview with the publication in the same issue.
