Samurai Commando: Mission 1549 Headed to US Current News - Past News

Director Masaaki Tezuka's latest film, titled Sengoku Jieitai 1549 in Japan, looks to be heading to US shores... or at least an American version of it. Producer Jenny Lew Tugend, most famous for Lethal Weapon, is taking the reigns of the US version, which will retain the film's international title: Samurai Commando: Mission 1549. Tugend has already mentioned adding scenes, to better explain aspects of the film to Western audiences, and bolstering up both the musical and special effect aspects of the film. There is no word, as of yet, when the US version will launch.

To those unfamiliar with the title, the movie is a remake of the 1979 Sonny Chiba film GI Samurai and is about a troop of soldiers who stumble into a time lapse and find themselves in feudal Japan between warring clans.
