FAST & FURIOUS:Hobbs & Shaw

Postby The One and Only » Fri Apr 19, 2019 5:09 pm

With the dropping of the first trailer I had started a thread about the upcoming FAST & FURIOUS spin-off flick, HOBBS & SHAW back in January.

But said thread was dropped for some reason when the new, bugnuts, action filled trailer dropped yesterday. And I tried to post it on the now disappeared thread.

Long story short, Hobbs & Shaw, forces two previous mortal enemies, and later unwilling allies, Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs. And Deckard Shaw, former British SAS Officer turned merc. Brought back together in order to stop Brixton. A genetically enhanced super-soldier, and his mercenary army who are after a bio-weapon capable of wiping out half the world's population. Which would plunge the world in anarchy.

I made a Fast and Furious thread a while back but apparently was among the threads that just straight up disappeared.

Anyways much looking forward to this movie. One of my most anticipated alongside Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Obviously), Missing Link (Already seen and so far my favorite movie this year) and Avengers: Endgame. I'm actually more excited for this film then I am for Avengers: Endgame.

I've had absolutely no interest in The Fast and Furious, but this has caught my interest. The Rock and Jason Statham fighting cyborgs. It sounds like the sort of thing PM Entertainment would have made back in the 90s.

Hobbs and Shaw are the only 2 good things in the Fast and Furious at this point, so the fact they have there own movie and wont be in Furious 9 or whatever it's on gives me an interest to see this... Looks like dumb fun and the chemistry between these two is great.

Remember when this series was just about racing?

It never was just about racing though. There was always a heist/action element involved that went along with the street racing stuff.

Saw a trailer for this when I went to see KOTM in IMAX. Looks absolutely balls-to-the-wall insane.

So I had never seen any of the F&F movies before until a few weeks ago when I finally decided to sit down and marathon them all.

The 1st was okay. 2 and 3 felt pointless and 4 was kind of a drag.

At the midpoint, I was thinking "How has this franchise lasted as long as it has?"

Then I watched Five and it was all gravy. I don't know if it was including The Rock, or the shift from street racing to heist/spy movie stuff, but that entry gave the series a huge shot in the arm. 6 was a lot of fun too, and 7 was completely bonkers, but in the best way. 8 was probably the weakest of the later half, but still pretty fun. Of the 8 we've had so far, 5 and 7 are my two favorites.

So yeah, count me in for Hobbs and Shaw! I'm definitely seeing this.

The one starring John Ireland and Dorothy Malone is my favorite.

I'm glad it's expanded beyond just racing, I really enjoyed the film and had lots of fun with it.

I hope the final battle of Godzilla vs Kong is similar to the final battle in this film.

I agree, Fast Five-onwards are surprisingly enjoyable for what they are. They're not Oscar contenders, but as pure action films/summer blockbusters, they're a lot of fun. Oh, and the characters are actually likable, unlike the Bayformers films, that's one thing that sets them apart.

Oh and this film was a blast.

I saw the trailer a while back and it looked like a lot of fun. Do i need to see any of the F&F movies to "get" this?
