FlawedCoil had asked me a while back about some rare Doom Island figures... Well, here are some. I picked these up a while ago. These are not monsters per say, but some of the other RESIN 'dinosaurs' that were to be paired up in a couple of more "Doom Island Godzilla Dinosaur Boxed Sets" with Destroyah VS... and Space Godzilla VS....

In this photo, you will see all unreleased paint master sample prototypes of 4 different velociraptors, another T-Rex, (and I like this one because the tail sculpt is completely different), 2 Anklyosauruses (in grey shells with the black spots, really cool BTW), and 4 different redish Triceratops. The funky pink dinosaur is the Dimetrodon:

Hard to see the Triceratops heads because they are angled down in a charging stance, but they are cool!!

And here's a closeup of the 2 Anklyosaurs:
http://ph59.free.fr/js/doomunreleased2.jpg

The one with the open mouth has a left arm that was glued a little away from the body, as you can see in the photo. None of these dinosaurs ever made it past the resin stage, so no plastic protos exist.

My five or six year old self would have love the Doom Island toyline set from 1996 or 1997. So what was the deal with so many Dinosaur toys in the Doom Island toyline? Did Trendmasters made a bunch of Dino toys and had no idea what to do with them?

Hellspawn, Doom Island was originally to be called "Monster Island", and who knows exactly if it was true that this line was supposed to heavily influenced by Transformers and Jurrassic Park or not, I can't say?? The other unreleased dinosaurs as I already mentioned, were to be paired up for at least 2 other, if not 3 other dinosaur sets:
Dinosaurs VS Destroyah,
Dinosaurs VS Space Godzilla, and another
Dinosaurs VS Godzilla box set. They knew what to do with them, but they just didn't do it in the end, and these others were cancelled, so only those resin protos are what came of it.

Gotta' wonder what the molds for the Dinosaurs vs. Dessy-T and SpaceGoji would have looked like. And I mean the molds for Dessy and SG, not the dinos.

MMaster, I can do one better for you... THESE are what the molds for both figures were to look like, had they gone ahead with them. These are unreleased of course, and unpainted, and at one of the earliest stages of development for the Doom Island Destroyah & Space G:

Not sure what I can tell you about the Megamutation figures Zilla, there was a 6" and 10" Destroyah and Godzilla figures made, and prototyped, but never released, as far as I know, but there was still a number of these circulating, and perhaps a couple given away thru the TM contest.

... Holy crap! Those things are freakin' awesome looking, TM! Can't even imagine how awesome they'd have been fully colored! The molds look even better than Bandai's!

Completely NOT Anguirius, Lamango. They were real dinosaurs the Anklyosaurs. You might see some similarities because of the shell and some spikes, but that doesn't make them anywhere near the same figure.

^ Well, Tyrannosaurs look like Gorosaurus by default. But ignore Lamango, he's a professional troll.

The SpaceGodzilla MM looks amazing. The Des looks pretty meh though.

They're just spikes, that you can flip open on the thighs. Part of these Doom Island Megamutation figures (well there was only Destroyah and Godzilla in 6" & 10" made), showed G & D with spikes in the chest, Godzilla had some on his shoulders, that actually came out of his back, and both of these figures have the thigh/knee spikes.

Here's 2 pictures of my 10" Doom Island Megamutation Godzilla (partially hand painted) proto that might give you a better idea G-Rex:

Mega-Mutation Destoroyah looks best out of the different Destoroyahs IMO. It's impressive work.

I have to say, I think if Trendmasters had kept afloat they'd be at Bandai's level by now. But alas, they've been gone almost ten years now haven't they?

Fall, okay. Knew the year wasn't sure what time.

Wow. Been a long time. It's weird to think I was buying these as a kid :/

Edit: There's a Doom Island set going for $60 on eBay right now.

Too think if he where really released then Trendmasters could have made another Godzilla toyline in 1996 or 1997 since they have not done all of the Showa monsters yet. They never did figures for Gabara, Ebirah, Hedorah, Jet Jaguar, Gorosaurus, and King Caesar. I know figures of Kamacuras and Manda where plan which is why I never did not list them down.

Trendmaster figures of Legion and Iris would have been cool as well.

Been a while since I have been on here, but thought it would be cool to post some links to a lot of my TRENDMASTERS Godzilla Prototypes of Doom Island, Godzilla Wars, the Godzilla Movie, the unreleased plush line, and of course some more shots on the unreleased Animated G:tS figures...

The Godzilla figures start half way down the first page here:
