IDW Godzilla Sub-Forum?

I think it would be unfair to limit the discussion of an entire comic book series to a single thread, or to force a more "general" forum to take on a bunch of threads related to the IDW comic. Personally, I think it would be a good idea to make a sub-forum for the IDW comic book. And then name the forum after me. And make me its moderator.

I could see that idea working provided the comic series doesn't get canceled abruptly (and even then that's very slim). I say go for it.

You know what would happen if the comic got it's own forum? It would be just like the LP forum. Thread after thread after tread of pointless, hypothetical topics on each and every minor thing people feel like talking about. It would be an uncoordinated mess. One thread is fine.

I'd be all for it if it were made a bit closer to the series' release. I think a big reason that the LP Godzilla forum ended up the way it did is because there's very little to do but speculate. Probably would've worked out better if the discussion on the film were kept to one thread until the movie actually came out, like on the other forum. If the hypothetical comic thread was made into something a bit more organized (for example: a thread for random speculation, individual threads for its release, a thread discussing the next one, etc.) then I wouldn't mind.

Right now I don't think it really needs it. Not many people contribute to the one thread we have right now and it tends to die out until a new bit of information is passed over.

I'm fine either way - I don't mind discussing it in one thread or discussing it in several.

An ongoing series that revamps classic monsters with several already planned spin-off mini-series, with potential for more. Not giving the IDW comic series it's own forum would be like making a 2012 thread, when discussion (as in, good ones) can go on for 15 pages.

Of course I don't think it's a good idea until the series actually comes out, but when people start picking up their issues at the comic book store or in the mail, I think a sub-forum would be beyond appropriate.

Well if LP brings about a new age of Goji-dom in the US market, a changing it to "US Godzilla 2011 thru Present" and putting all Godzilla junk in it, like a sticky for the comic book, just makes more sense.

Well if LP brings about a new age of Goji-dom in the US market, a changing it to "US Godzilla 2011 thru Present" and putting all Godzilla junk in it, like a sticky for the comic book, just makes more sense.

Except that sub-forum is just for the film. Comic stuff would go with the books and such in the collectibles part.

I wonder if Arbok could just consider using the "Godzilla (2012)" subforum as a way to discuss both the new movie AND the comic series, as well as whatever new stuff comes out, if a section dedicated to the comic alone is such a terrible thought. While I'm not going to complain about it, I never did see the need for a whole section dedicated to a film that has little more than a director and release date when a single thread was working just fine. But that's just me.

Totally agreed. And it's best to just keep it in the toy section because at the end of the day it's merchandise.
