An Incredible Hulk-style origin is all that's needed. Can just be done during the opening creds. Godzilla doesn't have to have some meaning like he did in G'54. That meaning has been lost since the fall of the damn Soviet Union.

But seriously, why don't you like the opening credits idea?

It's kind of... lazy. I'd like if they could work it into the actual story. This is his big reboot after all. Yeah, GINO came out 10 years, but f*ck that. This is supposed to the real Godzilla.

I agree completely.
I don't like the idea of taking what could be a huge plot and shoving it into the credits. His origin, original or revamped, should be in the new movie.
It's a technique which I associate with bad films. The origin should follow the emergence of Godzilla. If we're going to keep it to a minimum, make the origin become clear during a crisis so that there's no time to talk about it or worry about it once it's explained, but don't have it explained at the onset of the film. That's like going all the way on the first date. Where's the mystery?

Arrow wrote:The first Godzilla movie did the same thing as well, the monster's hypothetical origins were given a quick explanation and the film proceeded forward, no real mention of it made afterwards.
If - and I do realize this is a big IF - there's a sequel, then that's when they could delve into the mysteries of Godzilla's past.
