He was the producer of "9" (2009) though. If the news is official then I want to see some interviews behind the guy since I want to know if he is a fan or not?

BEKMAMBETOV?

Ooooo...

This is different, to say the least.

I know he hates magic and his filmography is pretty much entirely adaptations; Night Watch, Day Watch, and Wanted. All three are drastically different from the source material.

^i couldn't comment i haven't read the source material
my mother likes it...but she liked Wanted....she likes Angelina Jolie...so the movie could have sucked monkey balls and id would have been Oscar worthy

Nightwatch and Daywatch gushed style. He deffidently has a stronger sense of artistic flare then the Doom guy.

My only concern is how drastic he likes to tweak the source material. Wanted is the worse perpetrator while Night Watch and Day Watch are just de-magiced and it's kind of Hellboy style adaptation.

Well it's good to know that LP is moving forward to this movie since I fear that this movie would be dead in the water for a long time. I never read the "Wanted" comics but I did think the movie was okay. Let's see how "Apollo 18" (2011) turns out this March.

I think movie screenplays take at least a month or so to be finish. It won't be long until we see a official release date.

^ but a good screen play takes much longer...something that is thought out something that is planned the characters are flushed...you dont rush that
that's the problem with Hollywood they rush for the buck they put a nice coat of ARMOR ALL on the turd...but its just a really shiny turd
i would be happy if they spent 6 months on the script or even a year...do i want to wait that long no...but i have waited this long

i dont want this rushed for the buck...should the treatment be done in a month or so's time...yeah thats fine...not a 120 page script
this is our second chance to get something for us fan boys that's big...that's not star wars or the lord of the G-strings (which was way better)
And if you wonder how he eats and breaths and other science facts, just keep thinking to yourself, its just a show you should really just relax.....

Yeah good point, screen plays take a while to make since both the writer and director need to make a good argeement on what should be re-writen or not. I'm hoping if they do start writing now then they should have it done by early March maybe.

I also look this news up on Google, its possible that Timur is working with Edwards on different project and not Godzilla. I will wait later for more infomation.

For the uninformed;

Trailer for NIGHT WATCH

Timur (I'm not referring to him by his cumbersome dictionary of a last name. skreeonk that) is good at making hyper-stylish stories that are set on an epic scale but still manage to stay at a street-level with the protagonists. I think that rocks for a Godzilla film.

However, as I mentioned he has a tendency to tweak the hell out of properties pretty harshly.

If he is really the writer for the movie then I think he is a good choice from what I have seen. I hope to see what he has in plans for the movie and I found it funny that I mention "Apollo 18" in the director thread, and it looks like the guy behind the movie might be the writer for this movie.

I saw Night Watch a while back and don't remember any of it. I was like half asleep so maybe I should check it out again (and the sequel). Wanted was okay. I liked the first half where the main character had that horrible job. I don't like Mark Millar, though. That guy just does comics to get movie deals.

9 was kinda neat.

"9" (2009) was okay, I wish the movie was stop montion instend. I do wish the movie had more character devoplment and was longer as well.

style is graet simply because you have to watch it....some of the greatest movies of all time have absolutely no razzel dazzle
the special effects will have to be good but with crappy computers and lots of money you can buy lots of ARMOR ALL
i dont need it
i need and it needs:
good characters
good plot
GREAT STORY

we need to care about the characters as much as the writers do that takes time
thats what 90% of movies that come out these days lack: story

Look at GINO (yes we hate the design)
they spent a massive amount on effects
visually it looked good (not the design)
but the movie was God awful littered with plot holes inconsistencies horrendous dialogue...i could go on for ever but i dont need to because we all hate that movie...

tell me a story with real characters (yes i did that on perpouse)
tell US a story about GODZILLA after all hes the biggest character of them all
And if you wonder how he eats and breaths and other science facts, just keep thinking to yourself, its just a show you should really just relax.....

I should watch "Night Watch" (2004) soon but then again you can never tell from another person's movie on how the movie will turn out. I want to see if the guy is a fan of Godzilla or if he knows a good amount of the series to work on the film.
