What ever happened to this in Godzilla STE?

I'm not sure if that was Monster Island or Mount Fuji, but molten lava devouring the arena and monsters fighting the same area, sounds pretty awesome. I also think there was suppose to be an Ice Monster Island arena but that didn't seem to make it in sadly.

But what happened to this? Was it something that just didn't work out like Biollante?

It's possibly it was just too much for the game to handle. Ever changing environments would probably have not worked too well with the PS2's limited capabilities. Who knows if the Xb port could have handled it either.

It was probably part of the original Adventure mode, which was massive and more akin to G:U's story, which had to be cut due to being behind schedule, which is why STE's 'Action' mode is even looser than DAMM's.

^That seems more likely. I remember reading the original story mode idea was to play as Godzilla and you can travel across the earth to do missions and stuff as a part of the story mode. Similar to the story mode in Budokai 3.

One of the TK Toons also shows black and white concept art for an underwater cave level in G:STE.

Yeah kinda wish that had made it in. Then again there's a lot of things I wish went better with G:U. I think the cave would have fit Varan better since the booklet says he is rarely seen, a sort of joke on how obscure he is or was in the fandom.

A lake would be a much more fitting location for Varan.

Honestly, this game had a ton of potential. Its depressing thinking about what it could have been.

eally all the interviews before hand made this game seem like it would be GT Godzilla, and all other kinds of awesome stuff. I still like the game, but I was let down when it came out.

I know right. I loved the ideas these guys had, they would have made a good game into an amazing game but sadly, while they can imagine big things very well, they can't really seem to pull them off. Hopefully we can get someone more capable for a future game like Bandai.

Damn I wish that was in STE, I don't know that area but I remember seeing that screenshot during the early development of the game, and it was something that I hoped would make it. But sadly, it didn't.

A Godzilla game with a Budokai 3 type of story would have been awesome.

G:U for the PS2 is pretty much what STE was supposed to be like, except the mission themselves would be different, and instead of Obsidius we'd have Biollante.

So STE full would've sucked :P

I'm half-kidding, I think GU would've been impressive on last gen's consoles. It's just not up to the current gen.

..am I the only one who enjoyed GSTE? I will admit it reminded me of Virtual Fighter and King of the Monsters bastard love child and honestly the story is shit, but the characters and fun-ness sold me on it (for $15 new).

This is REALLY reaching at straws. There is nothing in that photo that suggest it's from the original version of STE. A beta version of some sort? Sure, but that's all you can really decipher from that one photo.

I for one loved this game it was the reason I even got an Xbox in the first place. I think the problem is too many people are overly butthurt because it wasn't everything it could've been which to me makes no sense because the game was really at the least decent and it's a GODZILLA GAME it's not like theres a huge market for Godzilla video games some people just focus too much on what could've been in the game rather than just look at what was infront of them, a good Godzilla fighting game with a decent monster list, stages, mini games, and ONLINE play. The game isn't only good but it tried to be better than it actualy was, DAMM was pretty much just adventure mode unlock monsters and stages 3 diffrent stages for jut about each city mind you and GU wasn't much diffrent from that except for the little missions to destroy the crystal towers in Sydney or when you'd fight Atragon. STE had a lot more features to it than both DAMM and GU but again people are just butthurt about what wasn't in the game. Just goes to show you can't please everyone and some people you just can't please at all. :|
He musta thought it was a gun!
I liked Giant Condor and Gabara before it was cool to just sayin.
