Mechagodzilla instead of Moguera in GvSG

Postby Darth Calypso » Sat Jan 08, 2011 11:23 pm

What if Mechagodzilla replaced Moguera in Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla like one of the ideas for the movie? Would it be better or worse?

Well the thought of Three Godzilla's on screen at once my have been overkill.

I could see Mechagodzilla being heavly upgraded so it could take Godzilla's Red Spiral Beam to a certain point, Godzilla and Mechagodzilla would have to team up but that would've added to a side story were enemies becomes allys, Spacegodzilla would have been taken down quicker.

Overall it could have its moments but it most likely would have ended up being Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla Part 2

Moguera did okay...I actually wouldn't have liked to seen three Godzillas on one screen because like Hotrod93 put it, that would be overkill. The only difference I can imagine is a higher marquee value, but the movie itself would hardly have been improved.

No he wouldn't. Moggy's SGMs were instrumental in Spacegodzilla's demise. If Mechagodzilla had been in the movie, either MG's arsenal would have to have been upgraded with a similar weapon or SG's weakness would have needed to be changed. Either way, SG wouldn't have gone down any easier because that would kinda defeat the purpose of the movie.

MechaGodzilla was plan to come back but the idea was scrap since Toho thought it would not make any sense for Godzilla to team up with someone who nearly kill him in the last movie.

Nothing much changes but Spacegodzilla gets a retarded power up or MG loses a lot of power

Another Mechagodzilla would have been repetitive, which the Heisei series was really getting towards the end (especially with SpaceGodzilla). Moguera's still lame, though. He looks like something out of Power Rangers.

You're complaining about a Japanese suitamation monster movie...Most robots in suitamation do.

Heisei Mechagodzilla looked a lot better. It's weird how they followed that up with Moguera.

I agree with those that are saying three "Godzillas" would be overkill for one movie, but on the flip side there's still a wee part of me that would like to see it. Mostly that's due to the logic in me that has a problem with Japan's ultimate weapon going from Mechagodzilla to Moguera. However, I suppose you have your logic suspended for monster movies anyway.

The whole concept of Moguera was interesting, nonetheless. It obviously came from the Mysterians, but why Moguera out of all things in the Toho galaxy? I'm not saying it was a bad move, it just wasn't expected, that's all,

Putting Mechagodzilla would have made little difference since godzilla would still destroy them both in the end. SMG would have probably whooped SG alot and that might have resulted in the fights becoming more intense and brutal. Spacegodzilla probably would have resorted to more melee on SMG then on Moguera.

Eh, MG isnt my favorite...I don't think he would have done much to lift the movie except for higher marquee value. And besides, the Heisei MG is my least favorite of the models because he is so immobile

Well think. He moves once, maybe twice on the ground. When you deal with monsters like Godzilla & Fire Rodan combined, you need some ground movement. MG got thrown all over the place once he hits the ground

I voted with, not just because Heisei Mechagodzilla's my favorite of the three, but because Heisei Moguera's one of my least favorite kaiju.

Godzilla and Fire rodan didn't fight him "combined". Also, fighting rodan aerially is a bad idea since he has proven to have enough strength to knock down much heavier opponents then himself. Imagine what would happen if Rodan manages to disorientate MG physically in midair? MG would have a really bad fall.

As for godzilla, He used his hover boosters most of the time against him, and if his systems had not overheated in the middle of the fight, he would have continued to keep his distance. Thats what he did as SMG anyway.
