Soundtrack Speculation (Composer, Songs, Godzilla Theme)

For the discussion of the upcoming Godzilla film by Legendary Pictures.

It's not really necessary to have Godzilla's theme in the movie, but it would be a nice touch. It would probably work best at the end credits but I wouldn't mind if it played before Godzilla fights his main opponent. I like that idea.

I like ES but yeah thats not their best track, nor does it really fit Godzilla.

I find it annoying when they used "Requiem for a Dream" for trailers now these days. RFAD is one of my all time favorite movies, and the sound track is amazing but I rather not see it in this movie.

Can agree with that. Love the song, but its incredibly overplayed.

Godzilla's main theme should be in this movie at-least once, was i the only one disappointed it wasn't in the 1998 movie?
I mean Godzilla have his theme, doesn't need to play every time he is on screen but i think before the final battle in the film Godzilla's theme should kick in when he approaches i honestly think that would be amazing.

It's nice to see in fanmade music videos for something dark and emotional, but leave it out of the film, yeah. It's more a "tribute video" song than something I'd like to see in the movie.

^A very cliched tribute song. I've gotten tired of hearing it. So many youtube amv's with the same songs, RFAD, Linkin Park songs, and Breaking Benjamin songs.

I'd like a similar motif, but not the theme itself. It would seem to much like HAY FANS LOL LOOK IFUKUBE R WE KOOL NAO? But something like the little lick in GMK that sounds a bit like the 1954 theme, but for the theme from KKvsG (DUUNNNN, dun dun dun dun DUNNNN...), now that would be cool.

Not against the idea of it being used, and I do welcome the idea. However, I'm sure we probably get a more original score, though I'm sure the person who does the score might use a homage from Ifukube's Godzilla theme.

So bumping this. I've been trying to find a group or whatever that could actually handle the Godzilla movie. While I would have a complete f'n nerdgasm if I heard a huge orchestra, like John Williams', doing the classic Godzilla march... Something else is needed.

Something that can do some badass sounding themes without having to resort to college rock.

I think I may have found it: Tomandandy.

They just did the Resident Evil: Afterlife, and like the movie or not, you can't deny that the soundtrack is skreeonk awesome! My two favorite examples...

Well, having just downloaded parts of the score to How To Train Your Dragon, and thinking it was wonderful, I'm gonna suggest John Powell could be a good candidate for the Composer. he did such a wonderful job with HTTYD why couldn't he do the same here?

John Powell is great, but honestly saying he did well with HTTYD doesn't mean anything for this film. Both will have very different scores regardless.

Powell actually may be a good choice. He did a good job with the Bourne films as well.

That's why I said "why couldn't he do the same here?" He's got skill, and he did well with adding some emotion to the scores, and the scores for some of the action scenes were good. Sure, those points may not have much to do with Godzilla, but I think he could do well with this film.

Ah, it's cool. you made a fair point anyway, and seeing as none of these people we're suggesting(Zimmer, Giachinno, Howard, Powell) have ever scored a G film before, who's to say how they'll do?

If they want this movie to be GOOD, they'll have the soundtrack be nothing but American Idol winners singing songs about Godzilla. You guys KNOW you want that. Admit it.
