So RE4 is one of the best games in the franchise. But did you know that originally RE4 was to have a supernatural element? Possessed dolls and ghosts with hooks. I find it interesting that Capcom actually thought about going this route. Don't get me wrong, RE4 is fun as it is but it would have been interesting to see how they would managed to switch the focus and concentrate on making things like ghosts work in a franchise that has always been creatures made by science.

Here's a video of some game play for this early concept before being scrapped for the RE4 we got today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWpEE_5p ... re=related

You'll even notice some elements like the attacking suits of armor were used in the game we got. This concept was so different from other Resident Evil games that it's amazing Capcom thought RE when they came up with this concept. Really it's a cool concept just not for RE. I would love to see them make an entirely new game franchise out of this.

HOOK MAN!!!!! I guess he was supposed to be similar to Nemesis because he would show up often.

The first Devil May Cry game was plan to be RE4 at one point when RE4 was plan back in 2000 for the Gamecube, and PS2. The story had Dante is a new member of The Umbrella Corporation and is send to Europe to fight a group of monsters that where created by a new virus.

Yes it looked cool, it's from those times after DMC became DMC, since it was a new RE before becoming its own series.

EDIT:

Haha! Hellspawn pretty much said the same as I only more in depht.

I remember reading that somewhere. Hopefully Capcom will do the same thing as they did with Devil May Cry and make a new game series with this.

Yeah I'm wondering too, I think an RE/DMC crossover would be terrible

Both DMC and RE are totaly different series, a crossover would not fit. If you want to see DMC vs RE then go pick up MVC3 when it comes out in two months from now.

I remember reading that somewhere.

I remember seeing conpect for Dante as well, he look pretty much the same but in a police outfit. The original idea for RE4 was scrap because Mikami feel like the Dante character would be better off in a different game, and Sugimura change the whole conpect into something else which why we got Devil May Cry instend of RE4 back in 2001.

What?

Where are you guys getting this crossover idea from?

I was just saying it would be cool if they took this concept and make a new game franchise jut like how they took another idea that was going to be RE and instead made Devil May Cry.

I'd much rather have them:

*Go back to RE's roots.
*Make another Dino Crisis.
*After the new DMC, go back to White Haired Sexy Dante.

I agree, I don't like emo kid, Punk rock Dante. I hope it's just another back story where he died his hair. Also a new Dino Crisis would be fun.

Well, I've done it. I've gotten rid of all of my RE games save for the 4 versions of the first one (original PS release, Sega release, Dual Shock version of Director's Cut, and REmake). Yep, feelin' pretty good about it, too. I think Capcom created a nice little stand-alone game with Resident Evil. Some police go to a mansion and fight some zombies, kill the bad guy (wtih no references to him surviving), and escape. THE END.

Oh man, I am VERY happy to see that RE 5 was generally reviled by other fans. The game is pretty to look at and all...but otherwise is almost unbearable otherwise. The horror element was completely gone from that game, and they really just took things too far with the story, and just took things too a new level of ridiculousness. I was vastly disappointed with the game after waiting over 3 years for it drop. (I was happy to see the Lickers return though...definitely geeked out about that for a minute).

BIOHAZARD 2 is my favorite in the series, for reasons that pretty much go without saying. I love all of the classic games though, with the exception of the side story/shooters that didn't interest me much. The Wii "rail-gun" shooters are an improvement on those earlier games, but like most of you, I'm DYING for a return to form for this series. Things NEED to be scary again. I enjoyed Zero, and the remake of the original game on the GC, but like bananaoil, felt Zero it to be unnecessary. NEMESIS felt like an extension of 2, while CODE VERONICA always felt like the "real" sequel to the second game. BIOHAZARD 4, I felt, was fantastic, and is my favorite in the series since CV. I feel it deserved all the praise that it got.

Anyways, I look forward to seeing what happens with the series, since it sounds like it's going to be a return to basics. I haven't been following things as closely, but is the next game going to be a "reboot" story wise, or just a reboot in terms of the actual game play and atmosphere (Less emphasis on action, more on horror)? I'd hate to see all of the characters we've grown to love disappear. It's been such a long journey, I would just hate to see it end so abruptly in favor of a new set of characters and situations.

I always love how fans bash RE5 for its gameplay for being too similar to RE4. Why fix something that is not broken?

RE 5 was originally gonna have zombies. Hence why it has such strong references to the first one.

I liked RE5. Nothing special by any means. The lickers though were douches. Especially when your on a narrow walkway.
Apparently SWTOR said that I can invite 25 people for a 7 day trial of the game. PM me if interested.

The mechanics of RE 5's gameplay were fine, it was the games narrative, and the fact that it just felt so detached from the previous games in the series that rubbed people the wrong way. It wasn't creepy...at all. That was the real problem. It didn't feel like a horror themed video game...it seemed like an action game..with monsters in it. That's all. That's not what fans expect when they play a game in a series that is well known for being genuinely creepy, claustrophobic, and not unlike the film's that inspired it; Romero's Living Dead films. It just felt very half-assed considering the development time the game had, which was over three years.

Agreed. While it can be fun I just didn't really feel like I was in danger. RE4 felt more threatening so it prove you can have action while still being scary. But for some reason, while RE4 managed to do this RE5 didn't.

It's because you were never really alone in that game.

I thought RE5 was okay but I played through it so much with Chris and our friend Brian that I got pretty burnt out on it.

I am looking forward to RE: Desparation for the 3DS which they say is the best looking game on the platform.

It's a work in progress please suggest to me how to improve it
