That is quite depressing.
Anybody know if the Tsuburaya DVDs are Bluray? If so, wouldn't I be able to get a BD player and be able to watch the shows on that if I bought them? Though if I remember right, it'd cost a pretty penny to buy all of them.

That's how I've been seeing Cosmos and how I watched Ultra Q and the Zoffy movie.

AH posted something useful. End of the world.

Seriously doubt existence of Ultra Blu-ray. There friggin' expensive and not woth it anyway. Especially for things that should NEVER be high-res, such as really old (Gojira) or cheesy (Ultraman) films.

I do know a fansub group who are (or were, not sure if they're planning to finish it) doing the first Ultra Galaxy. I think they did a pretty decent job at it too and it's certainly better than the HK subs. The only problem is that the first two episodes are the only ones they've done so far and like I said, I'm not sure if they're planning to finish it either. I haven't found any other fansubbing groups so far who are working on any of the Ultra Galaxy series. For some reason, hardly any fansub groups want to tackle any of the Ultra series. They all want to do Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. So until somebody fansubs the rest of the series, it looks like we have to either watch it without subs or crappy HK subs.

I can send you the links to the fansubbed episodes if you still want them, Kane.

The last two films were blu-ray releases and Ultra Q is in the process of getting a Blu-Ray release soon. Also, almost anything shot on film will benefit visually from the upgrade in quality since film has a much higher resolution than standard definition video.

Useful, if a bit frustrating. In the case of finding Ultra Galaxy, it requires a lot of guess-and-test.

But, through refining the method, I think I'm getting closer, at least. Thanks for the tip.

At one point I had found Ultraman Jack episode 1 in great quality. For the life of me though I cannot remember where I found it or how I found it.
Though I just stumbled across this guy, and he seems to have quite a few of the kaiju scenes uploaded. And in really damn good quality by the looks of them.

^Sort of the Godzilla73Rules of Youtube. Except specializing in Ace, Jack, and Leo. Still a pretty awesome channel, though.
Even if its impossible to sort through all the videos >_<

Well, I've been meaning to do this for a while but with finals I had to put this off for sometime.

So we know there's atleast two different versions of Ultraman on dvd but the question is which version should I get? Should I get the two volume ones or the complete series set?? Well thanks to the power of the library system, I finally got the chance to compare the two and.... there's really not much of a difference between the two.

Disc wise, the designs of them are different. One disc one has Shin Hayata, Bemler, and Ultraman. Each disc has a different color as the rest. Shin's is red, Bemler's is blue, and Ultraman's is yellow for some reason. Content wise and keep in mind this is volume one, it has pretty much the same as Ultraman the complete series. The only difference is all the text in the english Ultraman opening is in english while in the complete series you don't have that feature but rather the audio of it. Both versions do have this weird thing where it'll switch into Japanese a bit but back in english and I guess that was made to make the episodes longer. One annoying feature the 2 volume set had was if you were watching it on a computer/laptop, you couldn't fastforward it with a curser. No instead you had to do it the old fasion way and that's a real big annoyance for me.

Video Quality wise, the Complete version is a lot better then the older one as this image shows:
Image

Audo wise, it's good. I don't see the problem some people have with them but they're good and it's quite understandable.

Packaging wise, while the Volume one set has this weirdness(now keep in mind, it may be my library's doing) where they stack all of them together and have this weird thing keep them from moving around. Now with the complete version, they're all in seperate disc jackets which seems alright but from what I heard from some reviewers of dvds produced by the same company say they do get scratched so they have to return them and get new ones and even then they get scratched too. Now it does have something to hold them back in the jackets but I'm questioning why don't they just make them like traditional companies do? The covering on the complete series has a close up on Ultraman's head while the other has Ultraman doing his classic specium ray with his arms as well as a monster and people on it.

So there's your comparison for you and I hope it gives you an idea as to which version you're thinking about buying.

That I might be. But how?

I've personally got the Complete Series, and it's pretty good. Goes for <10$ on Ebay, and its got serviceable audio/video. Decent Special Features, too. American opening is certainly different.

Considering it just came out, I doubt anybody has uploaded it yet. Give it a few days and a RAW will probably be out. On a side note, I found a decent fansub of the first gaiden if anybody wants it then PM me.

Edit: Anyone want to know how to ge accurate Ultra kaiju info history and size wise?

Use Google Translate to find the series you're looking for, click the link at the subsection top to get you to a specific article regarding monsters from that series, and use GT again to read. Heights and weights are there with small histories, some monsters even have their own articles which can be found. You're welcome.

Aha, I found somebody that uploaded stage II of the Ultra Galaxy Gaiden. I'm downloading it right now. If anybody wants the link, then just say so.

Edit: Just got done watching Stage II, which was alright. I was kinda disappointed with the final fight, though. Personally, I think I liked Stage I a bit better than Stage II but both of them were good.
