It doenst matter how the weapon was used in GXM. It doesnt even need to be the same thing just something similar to the plot device used in the film. A warm hole cannon that will vaporize Godzilla into an alternate universe that will set up for something spectacular in a sequal. Remember the other films all take place in alternate universes so it would be fitting for the climax of the film to have Godzilla blasted with such a weapon and end up in another dimension for a sequal.

If I had it MY way, I would set the movie in 1954. Sorta like King Kong 05, but instead of Japan, the US.

Godzilla vs. Rodan: Monsters in Motown

Backstory:

Godzilla has appeared "nearly 30 times" since his infamous first sighting in the 1950s. During this period, other giant monsters have also arrived, and world governments keep their militaries well-armed in case of a monster outbreak--and as a result, the Cold War lives on.

2012:

A copper company attempts to open a new mine in Michigan. The miners discover a sealed-away cavern full of creepy giant insects...and an egg. Soon, the egg hatches, and Rodan threatens the Midwest. It destroys the mining community and leaves the male protagonist (a miner) and his family homeless. The refugees relocate to Detroit.

Meanwhile, Godzilla arrives in Toronto and destroys the city as the Canadian military crumbles under his might. Russia wants to attack Godzilla before it can reach the Soviet border, but the U.S. and Canada will not allow Soviet bombs to be dropped on North American soil.

Godzilla and Rodan clash in Detroit, wrecking the already decaying city and utterly destroying the headquarters of the automobile companies. The protagonist dies saving his family from the destruction. Rodan drives Godzilla into the Detroit River, which bubbles over as Godzilla discharges a radioactive blast. Neither monster rises from the water, and their fates are left ambiguous.

The USSR calls off the attack, and the US President declares the need to send humanitarian and financial aid to support Detroit in its recovery from the attack. The widow of the protagonist and her children, who give off minor readings on a Geiger counter, are taken away from the rubble in an ambulance, and the film ends.

What about a post 9/11 style godzilla movie, like the first attack happens right at the start of the movie out of the blue, then people have memorials and stuff then the military strike back at the end similar to "Black Hawk Down" (2001)?

That could work, too. Obviously, I was going for a "monsters as metaphors for the economy" idea.

I have a idea for a origin for Godzilla. What about Godzilla's origin is that Godzilla is a unknown sea monster, theorizing that its origins across the ocean for almost 60 years.

This (holds up a picture of GINO) is NOT Godzilla...this is GINO, weak ass, punk muthaf*$ka who tried to rip off Godzilla's gig but ended up gettin taken out King Kong style...dead in New York city by the hand of man...ain't that some f'd up chit...

What you are about to see is (hold's up Godzilla's pic again) this bad SOB kicking ass, stomping cities and taking punk ass' names. If you haven't figured it out yet...you're about to get an education...

I was thinking what if they use the original 1994 Tristar screenplay for the movie but make several changes as well? Look at "Predators" for example where the movie used several ideas from the original screenplay from RR back in 1992, but the movie itself was rather different. I believe the Second "Ghost Rider" movie is doing something similar as well?

Please, let's forget everything about the 94 script. The only reason people have attached themselves to that idea is that Gryphon is interesting and it is preferrable to what we got. In itself its really not that good. I still can't stand Godzilla's new origin. Seriously, if we have a Godzilla who does not have a background with the A-bomb I will be very angry.

I can see them remaking the 94 screenplay, and mixing it around a bit. "Batman Begins" (2005) screenplay was pretty much rather similar to the "Batman: Year One" screenplay afterall.

This movie needs a deep sub plot and human charactors that will compliment the events that unfold throughout the film.

^Thank you for listing obvious objective criteria for the film. But, that doesn't fall in line with the subject of this thread. It's "story ideas".

It should be a sequel to Godzilla's Revenge. Ichiro, now a succesful businessman, is shaken to discover that his friend Gabara has disappeared without a trace. Responsible for this, are the people of Planet X, whom effectively escaped into the future when their ships went kaboom in Monster Zero. Using a mysterious chemical, these sadistic and unscrupulous aliens have turned Gabara into a horrific monster not unlike the one that haunted Ichiro's dreams when he was child. Hoping to stop the invaders and their insidious plans (and save Gabby if possible), Ichiro summons his childhood hero Godzilla (actually Minya grown up!) with his new ESP powers. But Planet X has an ace under its sleeve. Using a sophisticated cloning device, they bring Ghidorah back from the dead and have him team up with Gabara to destroy Godzilla. As the wounded Big G returns from battle, Ichiro enlists the help of Miki Saegusa, who heals Godzilla by giving him her life force, quickly vanishing into a pile of smoke. The newly powered up Godzilla beats Gabara to his senses, returning to his human form. Realizing that the battle is still one-sided, Ichiro humps a car and transforms into an Ultraman-like mecha to joins Godzilla in the struggle. When Ghidorah's defeat seems near, a meteorite falls and hatches Spacegodzilla, who is more than glad to help Ghidorah. Can Earth survive this ordeal, or will Planet X erect a dictatorial rule for the next 1000 years?

For a joke post that was surprisingly crazy enough to be a Showa movie.

Showa was the pot of kaiju films.

i think it should be based off of g vs destroyah where godzilla fights bagan v2 and killed and in godzilla's dying moments the citizens of japan remember all the good and bad times they had with godzilla (i.e. all the othergodzilla movies). then that crazy guy from g vs king ghi. remembers the end of godzilla vs destroyah where godzilla's son is fully grown. he enlists the help miki segusa to stall bagan from kiiling godzilla and sets off with team final wars to find godzilla's son, now fully grown. while they are gone bagan kills miki and godzilla and most of tokyo. when they get back, goji jr is filled w/ rage at his fellow godzilla's death and kills bagan in an epic final battle. at the end of the filmmr. godzilla lover is so greif saddened by big G's death that he begins work on mechag4 to kill all evil monster sin the universe (i.e. king ghidorah, spacegoji, keiser ghi. after being revived from cells leftover from his explosion)
