G-FEST

Post by Cinematic Kaiju »

Although it is a year away, who is going to G-Fest next year in Chicago? It's going to be my very first and it might be my last for a long time so I am definitely going prepared. What is the most anyone has ever spent at a G-Fest? Who would you like to see make an appearance next year?

Plus... I'm looking for some new buddies :)

I was debating whether on driving to chicago from new york or not because I know after G-fest is all said and done, i'm gonna be coming home with at least one of those huge plastic bins you can find at walmart filled with Kaiju souvenirs lol and i really dont feel comfortable mailing all of that merchandise.

Is their a rule where it must be in the middle of the country?
No but it's more convenient to do so so that travel distances don't favor either coast.

I went to G-Fest 2001 and 2002 and had a great time. I did spend tons of money though, but it was worth it!

Kaiju Con! Yes! I was bugging out thinking to myself that I would've went to a G-Fest in the city. Wasnt Kaiju Con in the New Yorker hotel? I remember hitting up a convention there that was 85% Kaiju, 10% anime and 5% Japanese geek cinema.

G-Fest was never in NY. You must be thinking of Kaiju Con.

And no, you're not going to find much anime at G-Fest.
Do you mean G-Con? Which was the original name for G-Fest. I never heard of Kaiju Con but G-Con (G-Fest) was definitely in NYC. I have the program still. It says "G-Con '97"

I don't see why so many people whine it's in Chicago - frankly, aside Anime Central (I hate anime) I don't know of any other big-name cons around here.

Anyway, I always pop in to the Dealer Room and usually the Video Game Room. Don't expect to run into me - I usually come at the very end of Sunday.

I've been to G-Fest two times, and I'd really like to be able to go next year, since I missed out on meeting Takarada this year. :( I hope he'll come again.

I've been to G-Fest 2 years in a row now ('09 & '10) and each year was dope. I'll definitely be going in 2011 as well.

Hopefully by next con some interesting news will be released about the LP film.

Is it officially being held in Rosemont again next year? Or is it too far away to know?

Too far yet. I'm sure you'll hear something more concrete when fall/winter approaches. Chances are it will be around the same area as always though.

Even though it wasn't in Rosemont this year, it was only a couple blocks off. I actually went to Rosement first and had to be directed to the actual location.
