Question about Godzilla collection

Postby darkmech » Sat Nov 27, 2010 6:20 pm

everywhere i see this dvd for sale it says both the full and widescreen editions are on the dvds, except on walmart.com,which has the best price, it says just fullframe, could this be a mistake or is this an edition made just for walmart?

Only two films on that are full frame those being Godzilla King of the Monsters/Gojira and Godzilla Raids Again because those two films are naturally 4:3, the rest are their proper aspect ratio with the exception of Godzilla vs The Thing which is 1:78:1, the Japanese version Mothra vs Godzilla is the correct aspect ratio though.

Godzilla vs. the Thing might not have the proper aspect ratio, but it's still miles ahead of the Simitar DVD in terms of color and detail.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

It's a really good set and I say pick it up! I got it for X-Mas a few years back and was very happy with it.

Umm no it's not, the color is severly faded on it compared to the Japanese version in terms of quality they're about the same maybe the CM reissue is slightly above the Simitar DVD but still color is absolutely horrible on the American print. I just watched this last night actually.

If you can still get the set I'd definitely recommend you do. A lot of place I've seen have them out of stock, I believe it's completely out of print. But it's a really good set, and as said above only the first two films are in 4:3 fullscreen.

Again, compared to Simitar's print the colours in Classic Media's US version are superior. It's pretty much the best presentation of Godzilla vs. the Thing we've seen.

I got the set back when it was released in 2007. It is a great buy and the price surprisingly hasn't skyrocketed.

Anyways here is a good comparison of the Mothra vs Godzilla DVDs.
