It won't be.

YES! I like that idea. I'm opposed to Ghidorah being in the first film, but should they use him in sequels (or if they have to use him in the first movie) then that would be an excellent way of doing it.

I'd be cool with that. GvsMG ('74) had an interesting thing where Ghidorah was this sort of vague force that drove the prophecy element of the plot.

You could do something similar, and combine it with some of the heatwave back-story of Ghidora as an explanation for Godzilla getting unfrozen, or strange gravitational anomalies dragging meteors to Earth (Hedorah, Ghidorah himself, etc.)

It shouldn't be (and probably won't be) a sequel to anything. The new Godzilla film should stand on its own, a brand new take on the character that'll allow Hollywood to take Godzilla places that Toho never did. One of the reasons that, IMO, the Gamera trilogy worked so well was that instead of tying him to his previous origins, Kaneko rebooted Gamera entirely, allowing him to take the character in another direction.

I'm thinking all of the above. I wouldn't mind a super quick origin story, but I also wouldn't mind some decent exploration into his origin for those not in the G-Fandom loop.

You know, I can see Ghidorah working as an evil dragon from Japan's past. That would probably save time from having him be a planet destroying space alien or something. As long as they stay true to that bad guy core I don't see it being a problem.

Well here's an idea.

Godzilla is disturbed by a nuclear submarine and attacks the mainland, destroying everything in his path. A scientist begins work on a weapon to kill Godzilla, which is dubbed the Oxygen Destroyer (please note, this one is NOT in the original timeline) that is composed of microorganisms that consume oxygen, producing a lethal byproduct that dissolves anything organic in contact with it. As Godzilla continues rampaging, the military deploys special freezing bombs containing liquid nitrogen, managing to put him in hibernation. But while they debate what to do, the scientist's experment is tested and dissolves a tank of fish, but he's startled to discover that a hole is cut in the side of the tank the next morning and the tank has drained completely.

Several hours later, the security guards at the lab and personal are attacked by human sized monsters, which are discovered to be the Oxygen Destroyer chemical having taken on a life on if its own, gradually mutating. As the military tries to kill the creatures, they merge together into one giant creature dubbed Destoroyah, which begins destroying everything in its path, normal troops unable to get in range due to the toxic byproduct gas being present within range of the monster and any serious damage inflicted is healed by him breaking down and reforming. It's discovered Godzilla's regeneration would render him immune to the gas and the military is convinced to thaw out Godzilla to fight Destoroyah.

Godzilla and Destoroyah fight and Godzilla is badly wounded in the fight, but continues to battle. The scientist, guilt ridden he created Destoroyah, takes a craft full of the freezing bombs and drops them on Destoroyah, weakening him but being killed by Destoroyah in the process. However, now weakened, Destoroyah is overpowered by Godzilla and killed by having Godzilla's Atomic Ray fired through his now brittle body, blasting a gigantic hole through his chest before he can break down and heal. Godzilla, battered from the battle, returns to the see.

Freezing Godzilla, micro oxygen organisms escaping from a test tube, human size monsters fighting the military and ultimately joining to become destoroyah. I believe it was TokyoVigilante who wisely pointed out how little you can do with Destoroyah and Spacegodzilla because their origins are so heavily rooted in the films they were originally in , you can't do much for a new movie with them without recreating the original movie in some way.

True, though in this case, it's an aquirium and they are litterally the Oxygen Destroyer. Yeah, the human sized thing is true. But anyway, it's fine, I get your point. Though I don't see why that's a bad thing.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just too similar to a movie we've already seen. It would be extremely difficult to use destoroyah without having a remake of GvsDestoroyah. I personally would prefer something new entirely.

Godzilla is sleeping in the ocean, and the fission line reptures due to a metorite landing on the contienant of Asia.
Godzilla is awoken by the earthquake, swimming to japan. He destroys and feeds off of the closest power plant, which causes the military to try and shoot him down with the normal methods. But then, in America, A giant alien withsickla claws is destroying city after city, nothing stands a chance. Half way through the movie, godzilla defeats this unknown, and weak monster. The aliens from a planet beyond our solar system, come to claim thier "Run-away pet". They rebuild teh cities, and even offer to destroy godzilla, but in teh process of "Destroying" him, they take away most of his bodily radiation, and leave him to rot in a trench. He is helpless. The mutated alien monster apears, as gigan. It now has a beam, and it has sharper sickles, and a mechanical body. In a last ditch effort, the japanese adnd the U.S.A launch a nuclear bomb, hitting gigan. Gigan, is thrown into teh sea by the massive explosion, and retreats briefly to heal. But, without the guidence of his leaders, he swims over Godzilla, activating the dinosaur. Godzilla raises from the ocean,a nd grbas gigan. He destorys gigan on the mainland of asia. Godzilla proudly burns the rest of the mutants body, battle scared from sickle marks.
(The next, would probably be a Godzilla X Orga reboot and then have a godzilla X King Ghidrah. Then have one last epic fight, featuring mechagodzilla (Similar to Kiryu) and godzilla fighting Grand King Ghidorah)

I think Godzilla needs a brief explanation as stated. As the credits open, have an actual japanese man narrarating godzilla's origin (Just that he was the last dinosaur and was mutate dby the nuclear bomb, etc.) and for american audiences, get a japanese man who speaks terrible english, and put text to go along with it. adds to authenticity.

It these story ideas were realistic in regards to what we may actually see in the LP movie I'd say this thread would make sense as a decent G2012 topic. But Orga? Destroyah? Grand King Ghidora? No matter how hard one tries to make it work this stuff is not happening this movie. At that point any "story ideas" are basically just random fan fiction as far as I'm concerned. Future Godzilla, you are aware that this is going to be 100% American-made film with no relation to any Toho film right?

Since this forum is for discussion of this specific film and what we expect of it, wouldn't it make sense for our "story ideas" to be a bit more grounded in reality?

I would love to see a KG with motivations and design based on GKG. But he will be called King Ghidorah, period.
