Uhhh.... do you really think if I go up to a random person on the street and ask them about any of those they will know them? No, they wouldn't. If GINO was the only reason they knew of Godzilla, how come a lot of people hated it yet it did well at the box office? Because he's a well known name and a american big budget adaptation got a lot of people excited to see their favorite giant monster be brought to the big screen. And don't forget Godzilla was popular during the 60's and 70's as I recall they were actually shown in american theatres the most notiable I know of is King Kong vs Godzilla. So yeah, chances are they know of the big G not from ANY of those films(seriously, who the hell would know of Final Wars outside of the fanbase?) but rather the name itself and what he's famous for.

JOENIAS was also dubbed (tho not the entire series) - Several of the Ultra series were dubbed into Malaysian English - off the top of my head, RETURN OF ULTRAMAN, ACE, TARO, 80... Not sure if was the entire series... I'm sure there are others chomping at the bit to elaborate further...

i would hardly call it teaming up

it was primarily a clip show of the two different characters series

it did have a very small original plot with both characters having to team up to fight a monster, even exchanging each others signature attacks

was still pretty cool though, to see two great companys heroes together

Red King... Gomora... Soon I shall be watching you in all your glory!

I'm just a bit dissapointed Tyrant is in Taro and Windom is in Seven. Now I'm not saying that's a bad thing it's just it'll make it harder for me to find the episodes they're in.

And here's a good question for the fans: Which ultraman's design do you like the most?

ULTRAMAN VS MASKED RIDER is a great intro for those who want to learn about both characters...
The new sequence at the end is still pretty awesome, 17 years later...

Found Ultraman Zero vs Darclops Zero Stage 1 (no subs, though) on the internet already. Just got done watching it. Not gonna spoil anything, but I gotta say that Mecha Gomora kicks ass. I also enjoyed Zero and Darclops Zero battling it out. I eagerly await Stage 2 to come out.

Jesus CHRIST.

ULTRAMAN ZERO VS DARCLOPS ZERO was one of the single best Ultra Series entries in the past five years. Seriously. My opinion, blah, blah - better than all of Mebius, better than Mebius and Ultra Brothers, better than Ultra Galaxy Legends, and *just* below Super 8 Ultra Brothers. For me. Your mileage may vary.

This is what the Ultra Galaxy series should have been. Zero VS Darklops Zero reuses the basic "deserted wasteland planet" concept yet films its battles far more creatively than the series ever did. The series had fun choreography, granted, but its cinematography was largely bland and uninteresting. Not so here! Here we have great lighting, interesting angles, and creative camerawork! THANK YOU, TSUBURAYA. If the Zero series is this good throughout then I'll give you my soul. I mean you can just take it. Honest.

Oh, and it was wonderful to see practical sets return. Not only that, but filmed in some of the most interesting ways since Ultraman Max. I love you, TPC. I really do.

I just watched it and to be honest I'm disappointed. Before I explain, anyone want to tell me what was going on? I have zero clue what was going on plot wise.

Anyway, the battles were good, but could have been better; they really under used Mecha Gomora and didn't even both using Reionyx Burst Gomora, which kind of blew. It was nice to see robot versions of the original five Ultra brothers, but the Zoffy and Jack ones got killed off too quickly. Hopefully the second half will be more action packed and deliver a little more.

Saw it, thought it was very-well done, though I was a bit underwhelmed. I can't deny it was a good movie, though, and I look forward to Stage II. It didn't make me swoon, but I'm not about to dismiss it because "Reionyx Burst Gomora" or [insert character form/design here] didn't show up. That's just silly.

It's only the first stage, I'm pretty sure they're just doing that just to give us a taste of what we're gonna see in stage 2. Personally, I can't wait.

alienhulk2099 wrote:and didn't even both using Reionyx Burst Gomora, which kind of blew.

Well of course they weren't gonna use RB Gomora or EX Gomora right off the bat, they're probably saving one of those modes for stage 2.

But yeah, I enjoyed this Gaiden and I think stage 2 is gonna surpass stage 1. I don't quite know what exactly is going on, but I think I got the general idea.

Not that anyone asked me but based on my previous statement, here are what I consider top five Tsuburaya Productions of the last five years to be (2006-2010, from top to bottom):

1. Bio-Planet WoO
New non-Ultra Hero show from Tsuburaya? Nice! Okay, so it's old now but it's a beauty to behold - some of Tsuburaya Pro's best miniature work... ever. So detailed and well-lit - Mebius ain't got NOTHING on WoO. Seriously though, the characters are so well-realized that there are multiple episodes where no monster action ever occurs and unless you're incredibly shallow you won't care. It's that good. Really.

2. The Super 8 Ultra Brothers
Wonderful plot, gorgeously lit miniature sets. Oh my GOD, the miniature sets in this film are amaaaaaaazing. Also, flying boat. FLYING BOAT.

3. Ultraman Zero Vs. Darkclops Zero (at least until I see part two)
See my previous post!

4. Ultraseven X
Great sci-fi storytelling reminiscent of Philip K. Dick, one of my very favorite authors. Very slick, different style than the series to date, which made for a refreshing change of pace. People say it's too dark but honestly? It's got more of a sense of humor than Nexus!

5. Ultra Galaxy Legends
Despite my gripes about the digital backlot, it IS well-done and the film's visuals are pretty breathtaking. It's a great experiment and I think it was probably a kick in the pants for Tsuburaya to really step up there game, resulting in the awesomeness on the new gaiden and (presumably) the new movie.

What didn't make it and why:

Ultraman Mebius: It's fun, don't get me wrong, and I won't say you're wrong if you use it to introduce someone to the series. However, after the wild experiment of Nexus and the return to 60s-era creativity in Max, Mebius feels like a return to a Cosmos-esque "safe zone." It's not a bad show at all and I'm not trying to knock it but at the same time it's kind of "same-old, same-old."

Ultraman Mebius & Ultraman Brothers: Like the series, it's fun but kind of lacking, especially compared to the amazing ULTRAMAN THE NEXT and the wonderful Super 8 Ultra Brothers. And U-Killersaurus Neo was terribly realized. And they changed Kelbeam's roar.

Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Hikari Saga: Saga one was EXCELLENT but Sagas two and three basically used the same superbland set. Did you guys blow all your creative juices on part one or something?

Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Armored Darkness: Mediocre to the Nth degree. TPC really expected people to pay $40 per stage for this? BOOM, STOCK FOOTAGE, YEAH! WHOA, A TERRIBLE NEW ACTOR, ALL RIGHT! ZOW, LOOK AT THAT BORING AS HELL SET! Seriously, guys? Enpera Seijin was an awesome villain but he's kinda gotten shafted despite being a crucial part of both of Mebius' post-series Gaidens.

Mega-Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy: We're introduced to a great new cast of characters who are given some fun plot and we see a lot of neat monster action. The problem is how boring and uncreative the show is in terms of cinematography and environments. I own the entire series on R2 DVD and I don't regret that purchase (it was a steal, let me tell you! XD) but the Visual Translation System nonsense REALLY hurt the show given that it had a lot of potential.

Mega-Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy NEVER ENDING ODYSSEY: Same gripes as the previous Ultra Galaxy series except this time we get a far more entertaining plot and even cooler monster choreography. The visuals show some signs of improvement but it's not really enough at all. That said, it's still a lot of fun - episode 8 is an absolute RIOT - and compared to Kamen Rider Kiva and Go-Onger... Well, I think that's enough said.

Ultraman Mebius Gaiden: Ghost Rebirth: Ghost Rebirth has a lot going for it - an interesting plot concept (Enpera Seijin, yeah!), cool new adversaries/allies (MechaZam and EX Zetton), and some cool CGI-enhanced environments. But the last part is a huge part of its downfall: trying to do the whole thing on the digital backlot the way the then-current Ultra Galaxy movie had been made was one of the worst decisions TPC has made since dabbling with VTS.
