What if a monster is near death and the army captures it to experiment on it?

You aren't. I like the idea myself.

You've read Godzilla vs The Robot Monsters too haven't you? ;)

That's a damn good book. Honestly, Cerasini's novels have the best approach to the series I've seen in recent years. The monsters are important and they actually effect what happens to the human characters. Sure the novels are flawed, but their better then Tristar and Toho's recent attempts.

Why does everyone assume Godzilla will win? I think the new monster should kill Godzilla. What a way to end the movie, no one would see it coming.

While that would certainly be cool, it won't happen for several reasons. First off, I'm pretty sure Legendary wants to keep the possibility of a franchise open. Most importantly though, most fans and casual viewers don't want to see Godzilla lose. They want to see the Monster King be just what his name suggests. Audiences may actually feel cheated if Godzilla dies. Also, by doing so you take away the spotlight from Godzilla. It makes the other monster seem not only more powerful but more important than Goji.

Yeah... I think that if they want this movie to be a success (which they DO), they'll keep Goji alive and kicking. The enemies fate(s) on the other hand is a/are wild card(s).

Point taken. Perhaps both could die fighting each other, stalemate. Or they could pull a Mothra, have Godzilla killed by the monster and then see that he has offspring who will continue the fight. I'm just tired of Godzilla being his usual immortal self. I really believe Godzilla just has to die somehow in this one.

I really don't want any Godzilla babies in this. It needs to distance itself away from GINO as much as possible.

Just an idea, they could do what Toho wanted Tristar to do, continue off Godzilla vs. Destoroyah and have this one be the full grown Jr. Unlikely, but possible.

No, it's not possible. People need to stop this insanity. There is no way in hell this movie is going to be a sequel to a movie series only a tiny fraction of the audience has seen. That inane. Even Toho themselves decided to distance themselves from the Heisei series with G2K in order to find a bigger audience. And it worked, as G2K ended up getting released here.

The Heisei series will never be continued in any way, shape or form. It's over and it's been over for a decade and a half. Get. Over. It.

I'm sorry if I sound hostile but the lack of realistic thinking when this topic comes up is mind blowing.

I honestly believe should destroy the enemy villian, and if really want them back im sure they can find an creative way to revive the character

Kill them. Retreating's kinda repetive in most films. As for Godzilla dying, even though i have no problem with it, do it in a final sequel, and not do it for the first film. Chances are Legendary's pulling for a franchise, and it wouldn't help matters if the main charcter of said franchise dies in the debut.

100% agreement. I'd rather not see oft-allies to Godzilla like Rodan or Anguirus (and I'll add Mothra, unless they bring back the larva in the same film or the next) brutally offed. Too much emotional attachment to those guys.

However, I want Orga-level obliteration for the evil monsters.

While I agree that we have ZERO chance of seeing a Heisei continuation, I would love to see this done in the manner of the new Friday the 13th remake. Before anyone has a heart attack, I am specifically referring to the way that they opened the film with re-staged moments based on scenes in the original F13th, creating a prologue for the new film that could be seen as standing on its own for a new audience, or as a "previously on..." section for fans familiar with the orginal. Thus the film can be seen as a total reboot, OR as a direct, G '84-style, sequel to the first movie.

For Legendary's Godzilla, my ideal story would begin in the same way, with some vague reference to an attack in 1954, after which Godzilla was not seen until the present day. A good approach might be to start with an exciting scene of fiery destruction as a character attempts to escape Tokyo, only to cut the scene right before we get a good look at Godzilla, then launch into a Citizen Kane-style newsreel sequence explaining the basics of the attack, and setting up the fact that Godzilla was never confirmed dead.

I think the public is familiar enough with Godzilla: King of the Monsters to understand and appreciate such an approach. Sure, most of the audience probably hasn't seen the movie, but they all know it's the tale of an atomic dinosaur tearing shit up in the 1950s.

This way Legendary has a cool set-piece opening, and they avoid a huge chunk of potential fan bitching.

Trap them on Monster Island. Then we can have a remake of sorts of Destroy All Monsters.

Hopefully with less bad acting and more personality for the monsters.

It does depend on the monster, but I'd say kill them most likely.

Kill it. No. More than kill it. ANNHILATE it. We need an epic way to get rid of a monster.

This movie's likely going to get 0 - 1 sequel, so the idea of bringing back an enemy monster would be unneeded. In case a sequel IS made, Godzilla should fight a new monster entirely.
