The Official Primeval Series Discussion

Postby gvamp » Thu Nov 11, 2010 7:04 pm

I just went through all 18 pages and there wasn't a topic created yet.

As we all know the show was cancelled and resurrected and Series 4 is scheduled to start on January 1st 2011.

Here's the first promo video for the show

Cool! I'm glad they're following up on the whole Dracorex thing and that they're bringing the raptors back too. And the Spinosaurus looks promising.

Some things that I appreciate about this series is that 1) Tyrannosaurus has never appeared (it's a cool beast, but sorely overused) and 2) they often use creatures other than dinosaurs.

Raptors are overused, too, but the Spinosaur is nice to see. I'm very curious about that tusked thing, though.

The tusked thing is a Kaprosuchus, or a 'BoarCroc'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaprosuchus

Its basically the Pristichampus from Season 3 on steroids.

Anwyay, I'm glad Duncan and Jenny are returning, but I;m not sure about the new cast. The Spino looks VERY awesome. I'm overall looking forward to this.

And Hayes, the T-rex is apparently appearing in Season 5. I guess they were saving him for the last.

Boring....booooooooooooooooooooring.

I gave this series about 4 chances since it's actually so popular it got action figures but the last one I trie to watch...Season 1 with the pteradactyl and Rex gets out..... ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........

I'd rather watch Red Dwarf dubbed in French.

Huh. Hopefully they do something different with it.

And I think I remember reading that somewhere... maybe for Series 3. Is it supposed to show up fighting another dinosaur?

If you don't like this show why make a comment on it?

Any way the little preview for series 4 looks interesting I can't wait to start watching the show again, probably watch Series 1-3 here in a couple of weeks after I finish off Doctor Who Series 5.

TK isnt a blog with the comments section turned off. It's not a place for people to only say glowing this about it.

...course its boring so of course the Brits love it.

So going by that logic why do you post GTFO when someone says something in a topic you disagree with? :?

God damn those special effects are fantastic. Seriously, they look like film quality now. This series took a serious dip in quality in season 3, but I still enjoy it.

Series 3 was always an odd season for me, it didn't have the charm series 1 or 2 had plus there where a few episodes they could have done with out mainly the Mantango rip off episode.

To be honest I think the lack of Douglas Henshall is what made the newer episodes seem lackluster. Cutter was a major part of the show and he really grounded it. Taking away him ruined what made Primeval the show it was, not to say that there weren't some good episodes after he left, it just never felt the same.

Yeah I think that's what ruined it for me too but Jason Flemyng was a suitable replacement I thought.

Agreed about Douglas Henshall. Nick was an interesting character, and his interactions with Hellen made some good moments. Jason never really filled the gap left by Douglas.

I always wanted to see this series. This promo further flamed my interest. Is there any backstory stuff I need to know before the show or?

Just watch series 1, 2 and 3 there's some books out there with side stories but they don't really connect to the show.
