Nirvana

Anyone else here enjoy Nirvana? I always did like this band since the late 90's, and I still enjoy their music today. I tend to get a nostalgia feeling when I listen to their songs most of the time.

They're decent. But there are only 2 grunge bands that I REALLY enjoy (Alice In Chains and the Smashing Pumpkins)

This is my favourite band ever. They're some of the first songs I ever remember hearing as a kid. It was weird finding out the guy singing blew his head off...

Anyway, I'm a grunge baby. This stuff speaks to me.

One of the most Over-rated band's in History.

I admit i used to like them a lot in the 90's an i still love ''Come as you are'' but besides helping kill off the glam era that burnt itself out in the 80's i honestly don't think they deserve all the hype an credit they get today. I guess Kurt got lucky Courtney Love killed him while he was at the height of his fame.

Grunge doesn't interest me in the slightest and the humping Kurt Cobain gets would make the Beatles blush.

Nirvana is good. They were among the pioneers of Grunge. :)

Kurt Cobain was plumb stupid, though. He killed himself because his life was "miserable." When your albums skyrocket through the sales charts, you have no reason to bitch about life.

Besides, $ isn't everything. Imagine a bunch of people only wanting to feed off you and be your friend just because you're famous. More people trying to sue you for $ over the lamest things. Then combine that with his messed up stomach ailment. Having to throw up whatever he ate 30 minutes later. There was a lot more going on than just the aversion to fame.

Smashing Pumpkins isn't grunge... at all.

And I think Nirvana is good, but overrated.
And i don't think I have to explain that statement... if you know what nirvana is, you know what i'm talkin about.

Oh? Then please elaborate on what constitutes a GRUNGE band. It certainly isn't the music. None of the grunge bands sound alike (for the most part anyway).

I strangely do not like Nevermind at all, but Bleach and Incesticide are the two best albums (In Utero is a close third). The raw power and emotion driven into songs like Hairspray Queen, Paper Cuts, and countless others really hits home for me. I love the unreleased Outcesticide, but I would rather buy off With the Lights out.

Raunchola (Erectum) is their best song. Hands down.

I used to hate Nirvana for killing many forms of rock - like glam - but being older now, I REALLY appreciate Nirvana. I also love Alice in Chains.

Oddly enough, I prefer Nirvana live (like from Unplugged NYC) then on CD format.

BTW tomorrow is Kurt's 44th B-day

Im getting the Live At Paramount BluRay next week. And the Nevermind 20th Anniversay CD/DVD/LP set rawks. I want it, but from what Im hearing, the extra tracks arent that great, they werent even cleaned up for release, theyre very raw and grainy and hard to understand. Sadly on LP it's like $100+.

^ I just picked a couple tracks from iTunes and moved on. It's really not worth getting the whole thing because--as you said--the songs aren't cleaned up at all. But the Paramount was definitely one of my favorite Nirvana concerts to watch...it was kick-ass. I watched it with my parents and they were both like --> when they started to smash their instruments at the end of Endless Nameless.
