I want to see Half Human so badly

If you're referring to the American version with John Carradine and Morris Ankrum, than you're probably better off staying away from it (although I think it Alpha Video released it a few years back). It's arguably worse than the Americanized version of Varan the Unbelievable.

I bought it for $12.99. A good price. The video quality was actually very good. I was impressed.

Pretty sure that's a bootleg. Is Toho getting lax about patrolling ebay lately? They used to watch it like a hawk.

The legit DVD of Gorath by Diskotek I saw was actually fairly hard to distinguish from a bootleg itself, so that complicates matters.

As of the week prior I can cross the original Japanese versions of the following off my list:
Varan
Mothra
Atragon
Dogora
War of the Gargantuas
Space Amoeba

As well as the international version of Frankenstein vs. Baragon.

I don't think Discotek has ever released Gorath. They put out War in Space and Sayonara Jupiter though.

You're right. In fact, Gorath has never had an official region 1 DVD release. The War in Space is a similar movie from what I hear, though. Maybe that's where the confusion lies. But I haven't seen either one, sooo... *shrug*

Netflicks has a good supply of a lot of the hard to find TOHO films on dvd. I just finished Dogora that came in sat. I liked the film in either language and still looking for Gorath. but because it was never put in region 1 for dvd that would explain my issue in finding it.

you sound clue less. eBay is covered with bootleg G DVD's and there are sites just to sell bootlegs of em', and you talk about Toho being lax with patrolling eBay.

If you would read my entire post, I said they USED to watch ebay a lot closer. Their legal team would send out threats to the bootleggers, I've been on the receiving end of a few of those emails in the past.

Alright, time do dig up an old thread...

If we are referring to the "Sci-Fi Movie Listing" on the website, I have seen all of them from the Showa Period (from 1954 to 1978), with the exception of those three:

- The Youth and His Amulet (1961)
- Imaginary Paradise (1968)
- The Phoenix (1978)

The Youth and His Amulet is not available on DVD, but it's on Amazon Video. Imaginary Paradise is on DVD. And I have no idea if The Phoenix has ever been released on home video. If someone has been able to watch one of these three films, please let me know; I'm curious.

The ones I really want to see are Half Human, Human Vapor, Gorath and the original Japanese versions of King Kong vs. Godzilla and King Kong Escapes. Maybe with the upcoming Legendary films we'll finally get some of those (maybe not Half Human though).

I think I've seen just about every major Toho tokusatsu production made during the Showa era. The ones I haven't seen are either borderline non-genre films with minimal or additional fx work (such as Monkey Sun (1959), which recently showed up on YouTube and looks great), or non-tokusatsu genre stuff (Horror of the Wolf). The only Heisei era production I haven't seen that remotely interests me is Takao Okawara's Reiko (1991). I'd probably be more inclined to dig into any of those films (and others) if subtitled versions were available.

I think War in Space is kinda "meh", but Latitude Zero I would definitely recommend.

So I bought Sayonara Jupiter in 2017 and just got around to watching it. What a wacky movie. And probably the worst gaijin acting in any Japanese movie ever. This movie goes from discussing blowing up Jupiter and stopping a black hole to a hippy colony with a shark vs dolphin fight. Not kidding. And lots of boobs. The effects are good though. Shocked when I saw they were by Kawakita

Can't help but enjoy Latitude Zero. It's got a fun Batman 66 or Irwin Allen TV vibe about it.
