Monster Discussion #25: Giant Sea Serpent
Yeah... what's there to say? lol
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

Re: Monster Discussion #25: Giant Sea Serpent
I like the sea serpent. It has a great looking head. It was a good fit for Mondo island, where animals are larger than life. On land you have a huge gorilla and therapod, and in the water is a giant sea snake.

I like the sea serpent. I still say it's Toho's most obscure kaijuu.

It's a sea serpent that's particularly adept at sea serpenting.
It does it's job with grace and class. and not much else.

Now I know what Toho's next movie should be:
Giant Octopus, Giant Condor, Giant Sea Serpent: Big Battle in Monsterland

It worked well as Kong-fodder. Plus I welcome any giant snake with open arms.

Re: Monster Discussion #25: Giant Sea Serpent
So is the punchline about Monster X being of equal/lesser strength to the sea serpent? Or is it some inside joke that is eluding me?Inferno Rodan wrote:Giant Sea Snake is awesome for the simple fact that he almost killed Monster X with a single blow with his first strike in their battle.

I loved the Sea Serpent in King Kong Escapes. It served a purpose for being fodder for Kong to whoop him into next week.

No, the snake was impsired by the boa-like thing from the oringinal Kong (1933).
It is a simple story. There is nothing that brings me happiness. Be it believing in others or them believe in me, it did not matter.

You know, that's not a bad idea. Alternatively, have something terrify the sea (Ookako), something terrify the skies (Ookondru), and something terrify the land of the island (Giant LAND Serpent? ).SuperMonsterZero wrote:Now I know what Toho's next movie should be:

I never got a clear look at the Sea Serpent in action.
I was too busy trying not to look at that gawd-awful Kong suit in the water.
The horror... the horror...

We all have a right to give our say.
The sea snake was just there for Kong to show off. I think the sea snake would be well paired with the giant condor, though.

For some reason your comment made LOL ; but I get your point.Inferno Rodan wrote:Was it REALLY necessary for you to revive EVERY SINGLE ONE of these threads? Especially with comments like this?Rody wrote:Easily the most forgettable Toho Kaiju.
The Giant Sea Serpent is probably Toho's most obscure kaiju, partially because of his minor role, and partially because King Kong Escapes is probably one of Toho's more obscure kaiju films. It was a decent throw-away monster, at least.
