Toho Sci-Fi Films you haven't seen

Post by MustafaDaisenso »

While I can boast that I've seen every Godzilla film made during the 20th century, I still have a few gaps in my Toho filmography. List which movies you haven't seen, from any era.

Showa:
The Mysterians
Varan
Battle in Outer Space
The H Man
The Human Vapor
Mothra
Gorath
Atragon
Matango
Frankenstein Conquers the World
War of the Gargantuas
Latitude Zero
Prophecies of Nostradamus
The War in Space

Heisei:
Return of Mothra 1, 2, 3

Millenium:
Godzilla vs Megaguirus
Godzilla X Mechagodzilla
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
Godzilla: Final Wars

Loads...tons:

* All Kindaichi films
* INVISIBLE MAN
* MADAME WHITE SNAKE
* HALF HUMAN (Japanese cut anyway)
* THE THREE TREASURES
* MONKEY SUN
* THE SECRET OF TELEGIAN
* THE HUMAN VAPOR
* THE YOUTH AND HIS AMULET
* GORATH
* LOST WOLD OF SINBAD
* ADVENTURE IN KINGAN CASTLE
* IMAGINARY PARADISE
* KONTO 55: GRAND OUTER SPACE ADVENTURE
* VAMPIRE DOLL
* TERROR IN THE STREETS (Then again, has anyone?)
* ESPY
* BLUE CHRISTMAS
* THE PHOENIX
* SAYONARA JUPITER
* PRINCESS FROM THE MOON
* NINETEEN
* GUNHED
* MY SOUL IS SLASHED
* PSYCHIC GIRL REIKO
* SAMURAI KIDS
* All HAUNTED SCHOOL flicks
* Every other non-Kaiju film after 1998.

And that's just Sci-Fi. There's still plenty of Toho disaster films I have yet to see.

Only non-kaiju Toho film I've seen is the H-man.

The original Mothra is a great film. Definitely one of the best, imo. The first Rebirth of Mothra isn't a terribly bad film either.

There are a lot of other Toho films I haven't seen, so I won't type out a huge freaking list or anything. Though of the films I haven't seen, I do have a lot of interest in Gorath, The H-man, The Human Vapor, Latitude Zero, and Prophecies of Nostradamus.
Q: Will we see that monster that Bryan was going to reveal this morning at the press conference?
Cranston: Oh yeah! The only Godzilla movie with an X-rating.

Well, except that one. It is my second favorite solo kaiju flick from Toho. I had the Mothra trilogy in mind...even though those aren't solo movies.

I'm not sure what counts as the Toho sci-fi/de facto Godzilla apocrypha outside of the Showa era, so with that in mind:

Showa:
Ebirah, Horror of the Deep
Godzilla vs. Hedorah
The Mysterians
The Human Vapor
Atragon
Matango
Latitude Zero
Prophecies of Nostradamus
The War in Space
Half Human
Gorath

Haven't seen the Japanese cuts of:
Varan
King Kong vs. Godzilla

Heisei:
Return of Mothra 1, 2, 3
Godzilla 1985/Return of Godzilla (Saw the American cut so long ago as a kid I may as well have not have seen it)
Is there anything outside of the Godzilla and Mothra films that usually gets grouped with the series?

Haven't seen the Japanese versions of:
Godzilla vs. King Ghidora
Godzilla vs. Mothra
Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla
Godzilla vs. Destroyah

Millenium:
Again, seen all six Godzilla films. Is there something else I'm supposed to watch?

I haven't seen Atragon, The Human Vapor, or Latitude Zero. The last two are hard to find, but I might have seen Atragon had I bought the dvd.

I haven't seen The Human Vapor, War in Space, Half Human, Gorath, Prophecies of Nostradamus, Rebirth of Mothra 3, Latitude Zero, and several of the Japanese versions of the Godzilla films (including Return of Godzilla).

Showa:
Varan the unbelievable
The mysterians
Frankenstein vs baragon
H-man
Destroy all monsters
Son of godzilla
Ebirah, horror of the deep
Godzilla vs mechagodzilla
King kong escapes
Atragon
Dogora
The war in space
Matango
Gorath
Latitude zero

Heisei:
The return of godzilla
Rebirth of mothra, 1,2 & 3
Orochi, the eight headed dragon

Millenium:
Godzilla vs Megaguirus
20th century boys, 1, 2 & 3
I calculated the odds of this succeeding vs the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and I went ahead and did it anyways.

Still haven't seen most of the non-Godzilla Sci-Fi films except for Mothra, Varan and WOTG. The films I want to see most are King Kong Escapes, Frankenstein vs. Baragon, Matango, The Mysterians and Space Amoeba.

I've always wanted to see the banned ones. Prophecies of Nostradamus and Half Human. Uncut. Also The Last War even though I know that's not Togo

Godzilla21 wrote:Also The Last War even though I know that's not Togo
No, it is by Toho, unless you're thinking of THE FINAL WAR, which in that case, is a Toei production.

Anyways, I have yet to see several Kurosawa films, but the ones I currently want to see the most, but haven't gotten around to doing so are RED BEARD, KAGEMUSHA and RAN. Still need to watch Inagaki's Samurai Trilogy as well. THE HUMAN VAPOR and GORATH are still two I've see sometime real soon. I've only caught snippets of BATTLE IN OKINAWA, and really want to see it all the way through. Then there's the ever mysterious TERROR IN THE STREETS...
