What happened to anguirus in Godzilla vs megalon

I am literally watching the movie right now and During the earth quake, anguirus falls over.
What concerns me is the way he fell. He seemed to fall into something. Thinking about it, did he get swallowed by the earth quake? I mean it could make a little sense why he appeared again from underground in Godzilla vs mechagodzilla. Ya I know, way different location but maybe he tunneled or somehow the earth quake pooped him out somewhere close to there.

Basically, do you think anguirus was swallowed by the earth quake?

Yes, he does seem to fall into some kind of fissure during the quake, but I doubt that was intentionally referenced in GvsMG; I suspect that was just a happy coincidence.

Anywho, fun fact that is completely off topic- in the scene where one of seatopian baddies and the two truck drivers are talking, there are some nice porno in the background......I almost died laughing, I mean it's a kids movie come on

I think he's actually supposed to be in Siberia somewhere. He brushes up against some rocks and some snow visibly falls off. I think Teruyoshi Nakano offered up the Siberia explanation, but I could be wrong. It would be great if someone could confirm or deny that!

Anguirus is swallowed up by the Earth then emerges in GvMG when he senses a threat and tries to warn Godzilla.

I remember that scene. He falls into a hole and Godzilla looks back and then there is a explosion and Godzilla roars in anger. At first I though Anguirus got killed in the quake. But he comes back in GvsMG. I know a lot of G fans hate this film, but I love it because my step-father took me to see this movie in the theater and it is one of the best memories from my childhood.

Anguirus went down a hole. He's suffered worse though. Try falling to the ground from several miles in the air.

As for continuity with G vs MG, I don't see any. The destruction of Monster Island was most likely a byproduct of Seatopia getting ready to attack Japan.
