PG-13 is going to be the rating.

Just so they can make toys, games, clothes, books, etc.

While everyone else here says that's this thread is pointless, I'd say it's something worth talking about. I mean, by today's standards, who knows what the rating of this film will be (most likely PG-13, since it can attract a large audience). It is just mainly due to the fact about possible R rating (which I doubt, since these guys are more true fans than the fellows at Sony in 1998).

The reason I believe it's pointless, is because the rating of a film can only be decided when the MPAA reviews the finished film. Even if the studio is aiming for a particular audience, the rating can't be speculated.

^Ethan... the question that Dynomy had and point of this post is what people think the film SHOULD be rated. It's an opinion. Not what they think it will be rated. However, the point is to post your opinions, so it's fine that you think it's pointless. Just thought I might clarify that.

Agreed.

*I* would like to see an R-rated Godzilla, but I think the best way to go, in Legendary's hands, is PG-13.

Yeah, that's true. But here's an opinion, so I don't think I need to explain any further than that.

Legendary Pictures is not retarded, they will make sure that this movie is PG-13 material. Why? More Gross Revenue(money earned). Think about it, if its PG, adults and teens will think it's just another shitty kids movie(not enough gross revenue). If its rated R, kids and teens won't be able to see it(again, not enough gross revenue). And if its XXX, well we all already know what that will be like. :sigh:

Well than again, Godzilla is in essence just sweaty Japanese men wrestling at each other in tight fitting latex animal costumes. :P

PG-- The movie might as well wear a diaper and call itself watered down shit. LP should be smart enough to get that PG is not the way to reboot a series...especially if it's meant to be dark.
R-- Unless Godzilla bleeds after every punch and there's excessive explicit sex scenes, this won't happen either (... -_-)

It's PG-13...I know it.

Hah! Show us a script for that one!

Really, I think it should be nothing more than PG-13. As others have said, more people will be allowed to see it. The old fans will want to see it, but the younger generation needs to be able to see it as well.

That way we can turn them into Godzilla drones and boost his popularity.

R ratings would keep it from being successful, I bet. PG ratings might not allow for enough of what could make the movie good, just like if Batman or Fast Five got bumped down to PG ratings.

They should just make a good movie, and then the MPAA can assume whatever they like about who can handle it or not. skreeonk playing into that silliness. Although of course it'll almost certainly be PG-13.

Its gonna be PG-13, Teen, PG-12 or whatever your particular country calls this.

I think giving it a "general", "everyone" or what your caountry calls this would not allow for much realistic violence even in "fantasy kaiju battles" and would probably hinder attempts at scenes where kaiju destroy cities, trains, etc.
So it would be too restrictive really and wouldn't help action and SFX destruction scenes.

Giving it a 16+ or similar rating on the other hand would alientate the large kid fanbase these series has and this is simply not rational in terms of income and sales.

So yeah, PG-12 seems to be the best of two worlds.

I wouldnt mind an R rating...but that probably wouldnt be able to attract much new comers to the franchise and perhaps even a turn off for even hardcore members who grew up with the Showa era...so ill go with the PG-13

An R rating would kill this movie. No Godzilla movie should have a rating that harsh.

PG-13 at the most.
