"We wanted Godzilla to return to comics, but this time we wanted him to have some company," said Chris Ryall, Editor-in Chief for IDW Publishing. "I think fans will be pleased with the monster guest appearances, which will really offer something for every fan of these films. There are the classic characters, but there are also a few surprises, too."

The new series will kick off February 2011, and promises appearances from Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan, among other notable monsters from Godzilla's universe.

This is indeed very exciting news. Will be looking into this when it's released.

IDW makes some good comics, and I think IDW will make comics that are tie into the LP Godzilla movie as well.

^Yeah with Godzilla comics in 2011, and a new movie in 2012. I hope we will get a new video game soon. I hope the comics won't suck like the recent AVP comics (I did like the Predators movie comic along with its prequel though).

I hope they sell enough to make a comic book run that will last a year or two. Godzilla is not as popular then he was back in the 60's, 70's, and the 90's.

Other then Spawn, I rarely buy comics since I just wait for the trade paperback comics of the comic to be release since its easily to have them all in one instend of buying mutiple issues. I will pick up this up for sure, and I hope it won't suck.

The GU monsters like Obsidius are from Pipeworks, I doubt they will appear unless IDW trys to buy the rights for them.
