GODZILLA: RULERS OF EARTH

Post by cosmow »

Well, the news is out. IDW's new series to be released in June. Matt Frank and I are developing the story. He's on the art, I'm on the keyboard. It's going to be one hell of a ride and I think something that you guys (and gals) are really going to dig.

And check out that damn cover! Sweet!

Varan!! Awesome. Also the description says "onging" so I assume this is not another mini-series? At any rate I'm glad IDW didn't decide to end Godzilla Entirely. 8-)

Also. Congrats to all at IDW to be the first comic book publisher to have Godzilla go beyond the 2 year/24 issue mark ! I know it was not one continuous series, but collectively. Thank You!

This is such great news!!!! Varan? Gorosaurus???? And I'm guessing the entirety of IDW's kaiju roster???
Plus, a creative team that I'm sure will satisfy the tastes of EVERY Godzilla fan.

Chris Mowry. Matt Frank.
Words cannot fully express my joy at this.

My gratitude and thanks to the editor Bobby Curnow, who I'm sure brought this team for this project!!! Am I right?

And probable spoilers, do the covers mean that Gigan lives through the ongoing?

That's pretty hype. Especially if they stick with Showa Gigan. He's great. I love how they've taken the concept of Legends and incorporated it into the main series. This should be a lot of fun :D

I swear to god I must've looked just like this guy when I heard this news.

Chris Mowry? Wrote my favorite Godzilla comic.

Matt Frank? My all-time favorite artist EVER.

Gorosaurus? Varan? Two of my favorite monsters.

Art Adams and Bob Eggleton doing covers? Without a doubt 2 of the best artists EVER.

I look like this right now:

As someone who loves Matt Frank's art, and places Chris Mowry's Godzilla Legends #4 in his top 5 best Godzilla comics, this comes as fantastic, fantastic news.

June can't come soon enough.

Looking forward to seeing humanity and monsters fighting it out for control of the Earth. By the way, this just hit me.

Kingdom of Monsters was a fight for survival. Ongoing is a fight for liberation and now Rulers of the Earth is a fight for control. I have a feeling humanity is gonna get creamed.

Thank God for my new comic shop. I am NOT waiting for the TPB for this.

"Epic" is such an overused word, but I think it fits this time.

This is going to be EPIC!
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

Lol, thank you sir!

Those gifs summed up my reaction perfectly. I've calmed down considerably, but I still can't fully contain my excitement.

Image

There are a number of things to note from the article. I found this particularly interesting:
Readers can look forward to the return of some of our human cast and the introduction of a number of new ones
Well this is new! This has me extrememly excited! Who can we see? Boxer? Harrison? Maybe even STEVEN WOODS?!?!
the monster roster is larger than it has ever been, using nearly all of Toho’s film creations to give readers battles never before seen.
OH LORD YES!!!!
The only way to find out is to pick up the gargantuan thrills of GODZILLA®: RULERS OF EARTH when issue #1 crushes comic shops everywhere this June!

Possible hint towards the Gargantuas, which we already know IDW has the rights to? Or am I reading into this WAY too much?YOU be the judge!!!

And lookey here. Is Art starting a new Legends-styled series of covers? Will they connect?

Image

This was just brought up on the IDW Forums...

Image

That's 60's Rodan!!!!

And one more thing...
Chris Mowry wrote:Is that Varan on Matt's sweet wraparound cover? And did Bobby say Gorosaurus? And what other monster is going to be revealed with the June Previews solicits? Just wait and see.
Be on the lookout! Only a few days until we learn of this guy, whoever he may be!

WHY IS IT NOT JUNE YESTERDAY?!?!

Again, all of this has me truly excited. But the day we see a Toho monster in the comics that didn't actually appear in Any Godzilla film, thats the day I enter a whole new level of fan-love for this series. Even the Video Game Godzilla:Unleashed (which had the widest variety of anything Godzilla related thus far in North America) was limited by this sans the 2 new monsters.

All I can say now is that THIS is more like it! :D The possibility to see Steven Woods and Boxer at the same time just EXCITES ME TO DEATH! Also, NEW FRICKIN' MONSTER MATCH-UPS! :D
