Monster Fight Club

Postby HayesAJones » Sat Jul 24, 2010 10:00 am

There are many parallel version of our world. In some such worlds, there is a race of very different beings tied together by one thing: they all threaten the very existence of humanity. They come in the form of mutants, giants, and even gods. They exist and are feared in all parts of the world. What is this race? Its name is one that anyone will recognize-

Monsters.

Although most of the effort of these beasts goes into destroying Mankind, even others of their kind are not spared from their hostility. Sometimes, these creatures clash. Sometimes, only one will survive the battle. Sometimes, all the combatants will go on to fight another day. And sometimes, no creatures will live to walk away. These confrontations are always violent and whenever and wherever they occur, and whoever they consist of, one other thing will remain the same: humans are always caught in the middle of these clashes, whether they know it or not.

These are records of when these monster meet.

Match 1
SPACEGODZILLA VS. MONSTER ISLAND: MASSACRE
Image
_____________________________________________________________

It was a peaceful day in a land of giants. On a small, tropical island known only to the world as “Monster Island”, a huge reptilian beast was resting on a warm hillside, curled protectively around another, smaller saurian. The larger of the two was Anguirus, loyal friend to Godzilla, King of the Monsters. He was a quadruped, most of his back covered in a hard carapace. Dozen upon dozen of conical, ivory spikes were embedded in the creature's armor. A long, spiny tail was laid out behind the behemoth. Although this primeval throwback had the body of an ankylosaur, it's head was that of a crocodile's, sturdy fangs lining long, slender jaws. Firmly pressed into Anguirus's side, the smaller of the two shared a remarkable- but much softer- resemblance to Godzilla. And rightfully so. This creature was the adopted son of Godzilla, Little Godzilla.

Upon first inspection, it appeared that both beasts were fast asleep. But this was not so. One of Anguirus's eyes was open and focused on the sleeping form of Little Godzilla. The ancient dinosaur was looking after the young Godzillasaur. However simple a creature Anguirus was, he was fiercely loyal to Godzilla and always kept a keen watch over the son of his only friend while the atomic titan was gone, as was the case at the moment. Although Monster Island served as a home to the King of the Monsters, Godzilla considered the whole of Earth to be his territory and often set out to investigate suspicious activity. It was Anguirus who took over Godzilla's reign when he left the island, although there was no real need for this. While other equally huge creatures called this place home, none would dare try to overthrow Godzilla rule's, whether out of fear, respect, or a healthy mix of the two. Despite the usually vicious nature of these giants, the island seemed to be considered neutral ground of sorts and a constant peace existed amongst these monsters.

Soon, something would shatter that peace like a pane glass window.

Shrieking down from the heavens like a rouge shooting star, a blinding white sphere of cosmic energy tore through the cloud banks covering Monster Island. As the sphere finally breached the heavy cloud cover, it made its presence known to all of the islands inhabitants. Sitting up, Anguirus quickly nudged Little Godzilla awake. Its altitude decreasing at a rapid rate, the sphere soon closed the distance between itself and the island below, striking just on the other side of Anguirus and Little Godzilla's hillside resting place.

BOOM!

The impact was enormous, releasing a light so bright that Anguirus and Little Godzilla were forced to look away. Wailing in alarm, Anguirus gently pushed back the frightened young Godzillasaur, warning him to stay back. Anguirus snorted in surprise. There was another living creature on the opposite hillside. Slowly scaling the hill, Anguirus tentatively peaked over its top to what kind of creature could possibly arrive in such a fashion. The ankylosaur scarcely believed what he saw.

The holy-looking light from the sky had given rise to a demon of deep space.

The being before Anguirus was a dark reflection of Godzilla. It's basic figure and stance was that of the King of the Monsters, but that's where the similarities stopped. It's deep blue scales gave way to a underbelly the same color as dried blood. Instead of dorsal spines, pearl-white crystals lined the monstrosity's back and ran all the way to a sharp tip on the tail. Similar crystals jutted from the thing's shoulders, their color dirtied by the power that flowed through them. Small tusks graced its hideous face and a pronged crest sat above it's glowing red eyes. Eyes that belonged to the Devil Himself. It's mouth was pulled into a wicked grin.

It was SpaceGodzilla, the cosmic twin of Godzilla.

The crystalline saurian had planned to simply slay his “father” and let the rest of Earth fall into his palm at the defeat of its greatest warrior. But, Godzilla wasn't here. Fine, SpaceGodzilla smiled inwardly. Slight change of plan. He'll take over his father's pathetic little home and turn it into his fortress, his base for world domination. Then he'd kill his father. And any other creature that dare get in his way. His chaotic roar rising to the sky SpaceGodzilla, willed huge crystal structures to rise from the ground, like some hellish, crystalline garden. Immediately, they began to gather solar energy and directed it to SpaceGodzilla's shoulder crystals. The space demon cackled. Once he gained enough energy, he'd be unstoppable!

Anguirus wasn't going to let that happen. It was his job to care for Monster Island when Godzilla was away. And there was no way he could let his friend down. Snarling from atop the hill, the spiky quadruped prepared himself, powerful muscles bunching under taunt skin. Turning back for a moment, Anguirus grumbled at Little Godzilla to go and hide. The young dinosaur did so without question. Waiting until the Godzillasaur toddler had safely left view, Anguirus turned and charged.

SpaceGodzilla was interrupted from erecting more crystals by a high, soulless wail. Glancing at the approaching beast, the dark Godzilla finally noticed Anguirus, albeit with little interest. This was the company his father kept. Pathetic. Destructive energy gathering in his throat, SpaceGodzilla launched a single Corona Beam to test this pest's strength. Weaving and winding a confusing path around the baffled ankylosaur, the projectile finally speared itself into Anguirus's neck, blasting it open. Skidding to a halt, Anguirus shrieked in pain, desperately pawing at the wound. SpaceGodzilla cackled in sadistic delight. Shrugging off the terrible pain, Anguirus growled and charged again, determination dancing in his hard eyes. SpaceGodzilla prepared to launch another beam in retaliation.

A high, cackling call cut through the warm, afternoon air. Both SpaceGodzilla and Anguirus raised their eyes to see who the newcomer was. Descending from the clouds at great speeds was the giant pterosaur Rodan, king of the skies and the creature most loyal to Godzilla, behind Anguirus himself! Calling his greeting to his spiny, land-bound comrade, the irradiated reptile's cry was soon joined by those of the other inhabitants of Monster Island. Emerging from behind a mountain was Gorosaurus, the great therapod! Then, marching from the nearby sea were the aquatic dinosaur, Titanosaurus, and the huge serpent god, Manda! Gliding from his home in a high mountain caves Varan soon arrived at the scene, along with Baragon, who burst fourth from the ground, destroying a crystal structure in the process. Even Kumonga, the enormous spider, and Kamacuras, the giant mantis, the two most secretive and untrusting of all the beast who called the island home, appeared from the thick tropical jungles to defend their home. Moving as one, every single one of the giants converged to stand by Anguirus, the army of Monster Island! With Anguirus at its lead, the group readied themselves to fight the cosmic terror before it.

SpaceGodzilla scowled. He had hoped to kill the spiky quadruped slowly. Now there were too many of these insects for him to properly enjoy himself. Oh well. The crystalline beast grinned evilly. He'd just have to settle for a massacre instead. Dorsal crystals crackling with power, SpaceGodzilla bellowed his unholy war cry at the group of mutants and monsters.

Anguirus replied with his own battle cry and bound forward fearlessly at the dark saurian. The other inhabitants of the island followed, entering the crystalline hell created by the cosmic tyrant. As the small army of giants closed in on him, SpaceGodzilla unleashed a barrage of Corona Beams. Cutting a jagged path through the air, the beams smashed into the group, pushing back Varan, Manda, Kumonga, and Baragon. But it didn't keep them back for long. SpaceGodzilla fired beam after beam into the charging group, but no matter how many hits he landed on the giants they just ket coming. Before long they would physically overwhelm him. He couldn't let that happen. Raising his arms, the space demon willing himself into the air. As the army of Monster Island stopped at the place SpaceGodzilla had been only moments before, a furry of Corona Beams rained down on them, not one of them spared from the merciless assault. Titanosaurus tried to knock the space demon from the sky by using it's webbed tail to creature hurricane-force winds, but it was useless. Several Corona Beams struck his exposed back, knocking him flat with a pained gargle.

SpaceGodzilla laughed wickedly from his midair perch above the island and its inhabitants. He'd blast these beasts out of existence! Unfortunately for the clone, there were two amongst the group who could follow him to the heavens. Breaking the ranks of their fellow islanders, Rodan and Kamacuras took off straight up towards the looming space monster, their allies bellowing support from below. In an attempt to ground the two flying creatures, SpaceGodzilla launched multiple Corona Beams down upon the brave beasts. Rodan managed to power through most of them. Kamacuras was not so lucky. The blasts shredded his fragile wings. Unable to fly, the huge mantid fell back to the Earth landing with a tremendous crash. Rodan roared in outrage at this and pushed himself even harder. Breaking from the cosmic barrage, Rodan cried out a challenge to the cosmic terror. SpaceGodzilla only sneered in reply. Pumping his wings even faster, Rodan slammed into SpaceGodzilla, effectively cutting off his mocking laughter. Slashing with sharp talons and driving his beak into the space monster's flesh, Rodan engaged into a midair grapple with the crystalline demon. SpaceGodzilla roared angrily. Rodan answered him by stabbing his beak directly into one of the the demon's red eye. The clone pulled his injured eyes shut tightly, anger filling his being. Fueled by pain, SpaceGodzilla lashed out with his own claws, dispelling crackling cosmic into the pterosaurs, pushing the airborne nuisance back. This was all the opening the space demon needed. Firing a Corona Beam directly into Rodan's chest, SpaceGodzilla blasted the huge pteranodon downward. The crystalline dragon fired more Corona Beams, striking the injured saurian as it fell. Rodan crashed to the ground. SpaceGodzilla fired a few more Corona Beams for good measure, his good eyes glowing with pleasure. His eye was already beginning to knit back together, due the super regenerative powers he gained from his father.

Turning his attention back towards the Earth monsters below, the space monster prepared to launch another assault of Corona Beams. Before, the dark clone could fire his dagger-tipped projectiles at the giants, a huge weight barreled into him for behind, causing him to begin falling from the sky. Turning his snarling face towards the offender, SpaceGodzilla was shocked to find that the creature who brought his down was not a true flying creature, but the gliding Varan! The cunning reptile had quickly scaled a high mountain top while the space creature was distracted and quietly sailed through the air, catching SpaceGodzilla off guard. As they plummeted, Varan clawed at the cosmic saurian's throat. SpaceGodzilla promptly blasted the annoying beast in the face with a Corona Beam. Varan's grip on the demon broken as they reunited with the ground.

Before SpaceGodzilla could even attempt to stand up, the Earth monster were upon him. The cosmic terror bellowed in outrage as the inhabitants of Monster Island began to savage him. Manda quickly wrapped his long body around the dark Godzilla's feet, preventing the clone from getting up. Baragon rushed forward and bite down of the space demon's arm and mauling with his powerful digging claws. Titanosaurus began delivering enormously strong kicks to SpaceGodzilla's side, arms waving and uttering his odd warbling cry. Gorosaurus quickly took the crystalline titan's thrashing tail and pressed down with enough force to break bones. Kumonga stood a ways off from the others and was shooting its strong webs high into the air, where they slowly rained down on the struggling tyrant, slowing his movements. Kamacuras and Varan quickly shook off their injuries and were right alongside the other islanders, Kamacuras stabbing with spiked claws and Varan slashing at SpaceGodzilla's free arm. Anguirus leapt fearlessly at the monstrosity's throat, clamping down on the jugular of the dark entity. Shaking his head viciously, the determined dinosaur tore out SpaceGodzilla's throat, spilling dark blood on the ground.

That's when SpaceGodzilla snapped. Cosmic power exploded from the demon's body wherever the Earth creature's touched him. The inhabitants of Monster island leapt back in surprise and pain, as the dark clone of their leader rose from the ground with a furious roar. How dare these worms spill his blood! Never before had any creature, however mighty, ever caused his to bleed. But these, these maggots managed to do so? SpaceGodzilla snarled in fury. They would all die!

SpaceGodzilla unleashed an angry swarm of Corona Beams that cut into the flesh of the the giants of Monster Island. His wounds had already been healed by the super regenerative powers he gained from his father. The crystalline juggernaut lashed out with his his tail, driving its sharp crystal tip through Kumonga's head, killing the huge spider instantly. Marching forward, the tyrant from deep space stomped down on Kamacuras, easily crushing through the mantid's exoskeleton and killing it. Dishearten by the sudden deaths of their comrades, the inhabitants of Monster Island began to panic and back away from the approaching SpaceGodzilla.

All except Anguirus.

Even as all his allies backed down, the stubborn ankylosaur continued to stand his ground. While the ancient reptile knew SpaceGodzilla was far too powerful for him to ever defeat, he wouldn't retreat. Godzilla had entrusted him to protect Monster Island. To protect his son. And Anguirus would do just that.

Or die trying.

And that was fine with SpaceGodzilla. The determined ankylosaur was not only the first of the Earth creature to challenge him, but the very beast who made him bleed. Cackling, the sadistic demon fired a folly of Corona Beams. With a mighty cry, Anguirus charged straight into the barrage of projectiles. The beams of cosmic energy harpooned themselves into his flesh. High-pitched honks of agony rang out. The dinosaur's blood soaked the ground. Ribbon of skin hung from his terrifying injuries. But Anguirus still kept coming. SpaceGodzilla stopped his assault, amazed that the pathetic creature hadn't yet tried to retreat. Somewhere deep in his black heart, something stirred. Something he never expected to feel for another living creature- respect. SpaceGodzilla growled. He didn't like these new feelings of admiration that this beat's stupid determination had awoken. The quadruped would pay for bringing them out. Erie green energy seeped from the unforgiving clone's shoulder crystal. The energies seized the still crawling Anguirus and lifted him into the air. Flailing his limbs wildly, the saurian scraper wailed his defiance. SpaceGodzilla rewarded his steely will by hurling him into a mountain. Screaming in pain, the mountainside collapsed, causing a massive rockslide that partially buried that grievously wounded ankylosaur. SpaceGodzilla cackled. The wicked beast used his telekinesis to rip three of his crystal towers from the ground and hold them parallel to the Earth. With a small motion of his clawed hands, the crystal shot forward, like missiles, and slammed into the broken creature's carapace. As they shattered, SpaceGodzilla was rewarded by a weak screams of pain. The dark-hearted being once again seized the incapacitated Anguirus with his Gravity Tornado. Dragging the once-proud brawler from the rubble, the crystalline sadist brought the near-dead dinosaur to his feet, intending to further mutilate the beast's body. Cosmic energy crackled across dark blue skin in anticipation. He was going to enjoy this.

The other inhabitants of Monster Island could take no more.

Before SpaceGodzilla could mutilate Anguirus, a sympathy of roars announced the arrival of the cavalry. Lead by Rodan, what was left of the army of Monster Island charged back onto the battlefield. As they had stood by and watched their friend be dominated by the space tyrant, something strange had happen. Although by their very nature, all these beast should have abandoned the suffering quadruped without a second thought, something had stopped them from doing so. Loyalty. All these beast, no matter how unfriendly or cryptic, felt a sense of loyalty to Anguirus. To each other. They were a family. And this family wasn't going to let this outrage go unpunished. As SpaceGodzilla prepared to unleashed his Corona Beam, Titanosaurus and Gorosaurus, the physically strongest of the group, rushed him. Slamming into him, the two therapods began to batter and bash at the space demon, keeping him occupied. While the three saurians struggled, the other giants began to systematically destroy the crystal towers that gave SpaceGodzilla power. Rodan flew low and smashed entire rows of the the crystal structures with his spiked chest. Baragon quickly toppled many of the structures, using his burrowing skills to destroy their bases. Manda wrapped himself around and crushed several crystal towers at a time. Varan used his pure brute strength to brake the structures, swinging his powerful tail like a flail.

SpaceGodzilla was horrified. The Earth beast were destroying all his crystals. If he didn't finish this now, he could actually lose to these pests! Breaking free of the grip the two dinosaurs had him in, SpaceGodzilla blasted Titanosaurus in the face with a Corona Beam. Gorosaurus was quick to come to his fellow islanders help. Leaping into the air, the allosaur lashed out with both his powerful legs, delivering a devastating kangaroo kick to the offending space monster's shoulder. The demon's shoulder crystal shattered and SpaceGodzilla was thrown to the ground. The crystalline saurian ground his teeth. This was getting even worst. Half his energy was gone. He had to act now. As Gorosaurus bellowed in triumph, SpaceGodzilla launched a Corona Beam straight down the dinosaur's throat. As the allosaur began to choke on his own blood, SpaceGodzilla rose to his feet and was immediately faced by Titanosaurus. As the aquatic therapod delivered several powerful blow with his closed fists, SpaceGodzilla slashed at the creature's throat, laying it open. Titanosaurus stumbled back, dark blood bubbling from his throat, the dark Godzilla fired a Corona Beam into the open wound. Titanosaurus went limp, fell over, and died. Turning his attention back to Gorosaurus, SpaceGodzilla launched a merciless assault of Corona Beams at the injured allosaur. Gorosaurus was fried by the bombardment of cosmic energy.

Leaving two carcasses behind him, SpaceGodzilla turned to face the other Earth monsters. Having already destroyed all his crystal structures, they were ready to meet him in battle and avenge their fallen. Baragon rushed forward launching his heat ray from his fanged maw. It amounted to a slight burning sensation on SpaceGodzilla's thick hide. Cackling, the space monster kicked Baragon in the face, knocking him back. As Varan glided towards him, a single Corona Beam proved enough to pierce the beast's softer underbelly and gut the creature. Ducking as Varan's corpse sailed over head, SpaceGodzilla's tail lashed out and wrapped tightly around Baragon's throat, slowly applying more and more force. The cosmic saurian decapitated and mutilated Manda with a folly of Corona Beams. As SpaceGodzilla felt the life finally slip from Baragon's body, the crystalline dragon released his grip and turned to face the last of the Earth monsters- Rodan.

Rodan knew this was his last chance to injure SpaceGodzilla. Gathering all the strength he could muster, the great pteranodon speed at the awaiting demon and clipped SpaceGodzilla's remaining shoulder crystal with his wing tip as he passed by. The glancing blow barely dirtied its surface. SpaceGodzilla cackled and launched several Corona Beams at the flying reptile. The blasts knocked the irradiated pterosaur from the sky. SpaceGodzilla loomed over the fallen giant, preparing to finish it. Before the cosmic power gathering in the space beast's maw could escape, Rodan suddenly took off, frantically flapping away from SpaceGodzilla. So these earth creatures do have some intelligence, SpaceGodzilla smirked to himself. As SpaceGodzilla gloated over his victory, Rodan, already almost a mile away, turned around. Approaching SpaceGodzilla with deadly intent, the king of the skies gather speed as he went. SpaceGodzilla only realized that Rodan had not retreated when he heard the sonic boom. By then it was too late. Cutting through the air with incredible speed, Rodan smashed into his last remaining shoulder crystal shattering it. As SpaceGodzilla screamed in horror, Rodan crashed to the ground, disorientated by the tremendous impact. Absolutely fury surging through his vein, SpaceGodzilla used the last of his escaping energy to launch one last Corona Beam. The twirling beam harpooned itself through Rodan's back and pierced the great pterosaur's heart.

SpaceGodzilla bellowed with rage. All his enemies were dead, but his plans were ruined! All his energy was gone. He'd have to head back into space to gather enough solar energy to fully heal himself- shoulder crystals and all- now. As Space Godzilla prepared to leave, he realized something. There was one last creature on this island. He hadn't noticed the being in the heat of battle but there was a creature that shared life signs very similar to his father here. As the cosmic dragon traveled only a short stretch inland, he found an infant Godzillasaur peaking from its hiding place. It was Little Godzilla. And SpaceGodzilla's “brother”. The cruel space demon smiled. He would even need his energy to kill this tiny creature. As SpaceGodzilla approached, Little Godzilla actually crawled from his hiding place. The crystalline dragon laughed silently. It thought he was family!

Although SpaceGodzilla believed he had killed every one of his enemies, he was wrong. The spark of life still existed in one inhabitant of Monster Island.

Anguirus.

The spiky quadruped was still alive. Weak and bloody, but alive. Painfully pulling himself to his feet, the steely-willed dinosaur began dragging himself toward SpaceGodzilla. Why had this beast survived where all his comrades had died? Why, of all the creatures on Monster Island, was he still alive? He was no stronger than his late allies, but one fact set him apart from all the others. He could not die. Godzilla was depending on him. Little Godzilla was in danger and Anguirus couldn't fail his friend now. He could never fail his friend.

As SpaceGodzilla loomed over him, Little Godzilla finally realized this was not a friendly being, no matter how much it looked like his father. But it was too late for him to save himself. Kicking Little Godzilla over, SpaceGodzilla prepared to stomp the live from the toddler dinosaur. Until a familiar wail made him freeze. It was the wail of a creature he had killed. As the crystalline terror whipped around in disbelief, Anguirus summoned the very last of his strength to pounce at the abomination that had murdered his family. As the ankylosaur's jaws closed round his throat in a lethal embrace, SpaceGodzilla felt something he never imaged he'd ever experience- fear. As the second of the new emotion this stupid quadruped had evoked in him took over, the space demon felt his life fading. Without his energy, he had no means of regeneration. He was just an animal. As SpaceGodzilla collapsed, Anguirus atop him, he wondered how he could have gone from a cosmic terror of the stars to a hunted animal. How?

After a few moments, SpaceGodzilla, child of the black hole, was dead.

Finally releasing his grip, Anguirus rolled limply from the body of his latest kill. Little Godzilla immediately rushed to his side, shaking him frantically. Anguirus appreciated it. He was going to die, but he still had one last thing to do. As the hours passed, Death's cold, dark hand began threatening to overwhelm him. Each time, Little Godzilla shook him back to consciousness and he grumbled a thanks in return. As night finally fell over Monster Island, heavy, approaching footsteps told Anguirus that Godzilla, ruler of the island, had returned. Godzilla came to a stop by his side, softly growling his approval. Anguirus and the warriors of Monster Island had done a great thing. A thing Godzilla felt even he couldn't have done alone. Finally at peace, knowing that he had done his job, Anguirus closed his and laid down his head.

He was dead.

Godzilla closed his eyes in grief. As the night went on, the King of the Monster used a gentle flash of his Atomic Breath to set the body of each giant alight. If any human eyes had witness that night, they wouldn't believe what they were seeing. As Godzilla held Little Godzilla close to him, watching the bodies of the only friends he had ever had in this world burn, something impossible happened. Godzilla, the mightiest and most feared creature on Earth, shed tears for his fallen family.

Especially the stubbornly loyal creature known as Anguirus.

Match 2
GODZILLA VS. KING KONG: REMATCH
Image
_____________________________________________________________

Skull Island.

This mysterious, slowly sinking landmass, far west of Sumatra, was practically untouched by the modern world. The only human life on the island was a small tribe of natives, unlike any other people on Earth. Although the island, named for a distinctive rocky knoll shaped like human skull, is home to a fantastic array of incredible creatures, both herbivorous and predatory, there is only one that is worshiped by the islanders. The mightiest beast on the island, this monster-god's name is whispered by the islanders in total reverence-

King Kong.

Yes, the Lord of Skull Island was the world famous beast who had battled Godzilla, King of the Monsters, and actually emerged victorious, a deed accomplished by an elite few. Although Kong was undoubtably a warrior, he hardly led a warrior's life. At this very moment, the huge ape was sprawled on his back, napping in a large cave carved into the side of Skull Mountain. Kong had lead a peaceful life since his great clash with Godzilla. In fact, the only fight Kong had engaged in since his return to Skull Island was a brief brawl with Gorosaurus. The dinosaur had challenged the great primate for his rule over the island. The overconfident therapod made a hasty retreat after a few powerful blows from Kong. Kong enjoyed a good fight, but he was perfectly happy with the dull life he had. Snorting in his sleep, the enormous gorilla, last of his species, rolled to his side and began to snore. As the powerful vibrations shook Skull Mountain, another giant, one very familiar to Kong, was rapidly approaching his peaceful home.

Far down from the sleeping Kong, on the beaches of Skull Island, the natives were performing their daily dance of worship to their god. As horse voices rose to the sky in praise, something far more sinister was also raising. Several miles out at sea, rough waves gave way to a bulge of water, slowing growing in size. The bulge soon towered over the sea, easily taming its violence. As the great mass of water rushed towards Skull Island, something broken the surface tension of the bulge and caused the mass of seawater to collapse. As the saltwater fell back to sea level, it revealed three rows of huge, ivory spines. Cutting through the waves and thick fog bank, the enamel-cased, bone structures sped towards the cove that acted as the entrance to Skull Island. As the dorsal plates roared towards the beach, the dance and song of the Skull Islanders faded away in horror as the dark-skinned people caught sight of the approaching terror. As the stunned natives watched whatever creature that lay beneath the waves close in on their home, the spines slowly began to dip back into the ocean. As the tip of the very tallest of the organic structures disappeared beneath the surface of the sea, the Skull Islanders stiffened in anticipation of the arrival of the owner of the spines. The island was totally silent for few moments. Even the bird songs and other animal calls were hushed and ceased to fill the air. As wary eyes watched the waves, a long, powerful tail made a broad sweep to push a multi-thousand ton body to the surface.

WHOOSH!

A column of water burst from the flat surface of the ocean. As thousands of gallons of seawater rushed downwards to meet the sea, what it revealed caused the human inhabitants of Skull Island to erupt into screams. The huge creature stood over three-hundred feet tall and held a vague resemblance to the carnivorous bipeds that stalked the interior of the island. But, instead of holding its body parallel to the ground, the beast before them stood straight up, its hips in a very humanoid stance. The dorsal spines they had witnessed rising from the ocean jutted from its back. Powerful muscles were visible under the monster's charcoal-gray scales, a testament to its massive physical strength. An equally muscular tail thrashed behind the creature, kicking up enormous waves. Sharp claws laced the beast's human-like hands giving its long arms a lethal appearance. Twin rows of yellow fangs curved down from the reptile's jaws, flashing as the beast curled its lips in a snarl. Feral, orange eyes were sunken deep into the giant's strangely mammalian face. Although the scattering natives of Skull Island didn't know it, this was the very beast that dueled with their god after he was taken from their home.

It was the living nuclear reactor known as Godzilla.

Wading in the costal water of the island, Godzilla gave the Skull Islanders a mere passing glance as they desperately scrambled for shelter. He was searching for a new home. He once resided on another island, but a cosmic clone of himself had landed there and slaughtered all of his fellow giants. His closest friend among these creatures he had called family had killed this darker version of himself before succumbing to his mortal injuries. That island had too many memories of fallen allies. Godzilla had risked leaving his adopted son back on the island. Although there was no one there to protect him, it was a necessary risk. This would be a long journey and the toddler tired quickly. If this turned out to be a good home, he would have to return to his old home to retrieve the infant dinosaur. As his clawed feet sunk deep into the sands of the beach, the nuclear saurian crushed several primitive huts and other structures as he continued on his bee-line to the islands tropical interior. Smashing the huge, wooden gates that separated the island's coast from its thick jungle, Godzilla's prehistoric eyes scanned his surroundings. The island greatly reminded the titan of his past world, before his mutation. As he shifted his feet, a flurry of motion attracted his attention. Stampeding across a large clearing was a heard of hadrosaurus. Godzilla grumbled in surprise. As he pierced the island environment with his smoldering eyes, the irradiated dinosaurs saw others if his kind. Hard eyes softened as the ancient creature recalled the days before the bomb. Yes, this would do. Eyes growing fierce once again, Godzilla threw back his head and let an unforgettable screech escaped his cracked jaws, announced his ownership of the island.

High on Skull Mountain, two eyes snapped wide open in surprise.

Godzilla marched further inland, now searching for a suitable shelter. The usually destructive creature was actually trying his best not crush any of the native dinosaurs or their home underfoot. Very few people realized that the King of the Monster had a soft spot for other saurians. By now, the immense reptile had trekked over most of Skull Island and was now standing on the edge of a gradual drop that lead to a small, but broad beach that faced the ocean. With his keen binocular vision, Godzilla spied several large caves in the surrounding mountainsides. There. It was perfect. This would be his new home.

As Godzilla started the descent to the sea and his son, a huge, powerful force slammed into the side of his head.

WHAM!

Screaming in a mix of surprise and pain, Godzilla was sent tumbling down towards the beach. As he finally rolled to a stop, he reared up with a furious roar, burning eyes searching for the being who dare strike him. His angry eyes were met by the sight of King Kong beating his chest triumphantly, answering the dinosaurs call with a bellow of his own. Kong was surprised that the nuclear saurian had the gal to invade his home, the territory of a creature that had already bested him. The giant ape wasn't particularly looking forward to fighting the reptilian juggernaut again, but he was happy to see his blows hadn't lost their strength. Godzilla was similarly surprised to see his old foe again, but he was more than happy to do battle with the mammal again. Though the Monster King had no fondness of any creature stupid enough to attack him, he especially loathed Kong, for the Lord of Skull Island had caused him to suffer the ultimate humiliation- defeat. He had been forced to retreat from the first confrontation between the gorilla and himself, but he wouldn't let that happen again. Years of absorbing further radiation had made Godzilla stronger and the dinosaur was determined to prove it.

Two pairs of eyes met, both fill of hate. After a full minute of staring at each other, the rematch of the century exploded into action.

Kong roared and began to charge down the slope he had knocked Godzilla down earlier. The saurian giant snarled. As Kong rushed towards his enemy, he heard an electric crackling. Godzilla's spines began to glow with pale blue power. The smell of ozone filled the air. Atomic light spilled from the dragon's jaws, threatening to escape. This threat proved true as a beam of superheated plasma erupted from Godzilla's throat and raced straight for Kong. Thinking fast, the ape threw himself to the side. The beam barely brushed his shoulder. The glancing strike sent a surge of pain through Kong's body. Rolling to his feet, the great gorilla pawed at his injured shoulder, grumbling in pain. The wound had been cauterized instantly. Fingering the small indent in his shoulder, Kong gritted his teeth in anger. The thing's breath weapon had not been this strong last time they had clashed.

Godzilla roared in satisfaction and began a charge of his own. Thunderous footfall warned Kong of the dinosaur's approach. So the atomic titan wanted to try his clawed hand at close-range combat? Big mistake. Rushing forward to meet the reptile, Kong used his longer arms to deliver a savage right hook to Godzilla's jaw. As the saurian best stumbled back, the enormously strong primate drove his closed fist deep into the dinosaur's gut, then finished with a firm uppercut to the larger creature's chin. As Godzilla fell back down to the beach, Kong roared his dominance of melee fighting to the fallen reptile.

Pushing himself up to a kneeling position, Godzilla growled in irritation. Blood was slowly oozing down his forehead. It had been foolish to try fighting the ape up close. For now on, he had to keep the primate at a safe distance until he had an opening. Rising to his feet, the living god of destruction roared his defiance to Kong. Godzilla's spines flashed as a series of powerful chemical reaction took place. Kong had to react quickly. As the atomic dinosaur fired his atomic ray, the oversized ape dove. The beam struck the spot Kong had sat not a second before, blasting it out of existence. As the mighty primate hit the ground, he pulled himself into a ball and began to roll down the slope towards Godzilla. As he neared the heavier reptile, Kong threw himself at Godzilla, arms outstretched. The prehistoric beast reacted with speed that caught the Lord of Skull Island off guard. Ducking under the mammal's airborne tackle, Godzilla swung his long tail in a high arc and slammed it into Kong's side, changing the gorilla's trajectory. As Kong hit the sand, the sound of Godzilla charging his deadly ray meet his ears. The ape grunted in alarm. Kong's long arm shot out and gripped the looming saurian's ankle. With one great heave, the huge primate tore the taloned foot from the beach and high into the air, toppling Godzilla over. Godzilla's beam was fired straight into the air, vaporizing a flock of passing seabirds. Leaping to his feet, Kong jumped atop the fallen dinosaur and promptly began to mercilessly beat Godzilla. The Monster King roared in outrage as dozen of powerful blows were delivered to his bloodied face by closed fists. Leaning down, the great ape bit down on Godzilla's neck with yellowed teeth. Pulling his head back from the saurian's body, Kong spit out a piece of dark-gray flesh. The wound began healing instantly. Kong snorted. Regeneration was a power the primate envied greatly. Grabbing a nearby rock, Kong raised it high above his head and then brought it down on Godzilla's face, shattering the dinosaur's jaw. Hooping in satisfaction, the brutal mammal smashed in the reptile's face in with the rock several more times. The bones in the atomic dragon's maw began knitting themselves back together. Angry that his handiwork was being erased, Kong wrapped strong fingers around Godzilla's throat and began to strangle the struggling dinosaur. The ancient best's fanged mouth began to foam. This only encouraged Kong to squeeze harder. Godzilla's spines flashed. Atomic fire began gathering in the nuclear creature's throat. Kong pressed down even harder on the disgraced titan's throat. The mighty ape managed to hold back Godzilla's nuclear breath. Unfortunately from Kong, the destructive energy had to escape the nuclear dragon somehow.

An atomic pulse rocked the whole island.

Kong was violently thrown back by the ring of raw power. The stunned ape slammed into one of the mountain ridges that surrounded the beach. Weakly, the huge gorilla attempted to get up. A recovered Godzilla quickly put a stop to that. The atomic saurian used his sharp claws to slash across Kong's singed chest. Dark blood stained the sand below. Talons were raked across the side of the primate's head. One huge foot was planted deep into Kong's stomach. Every time the gorilla tried to get up, Godzilla immediately beat him back down. With a burst of sudden strength, the Lord of Skull Island managed to pushed the dinosaur back. Kong leapt forward to grapple with Godzilla. Reptilian claws dug into his left arm and a pair of powerful jaws closed on his right. Swinging around, Godzilla used their combined body weight to hurl Kong across the beach, where the ape splashed down in shallow water. Struggling to sit up, Kong grunted in disbelief. He had never known that the nuclear powerhouse had such physical prowess. What remained of the gorilla's fur stood on end. The primate looked up in alarm.

On the other side of the beach, a huge sphere of atomic power gathered in Godzilla's jaws, the bright glow from the reptile's spines silhouetting his fearsome figure. The nuclear giant looked like Death. And for Kong he might as well be. It was now all or nothing for the ape. He had to act now or die.

Fueled by adrenalin, Kong rose up, announcing his newfound strength with a mighty bellow. Plucking a rock from the seabed, the desperate primate beamed it at Godzilla. A split second before he unleashed the ray that would have fried Kong, the rock struck the atomic dragon square in the eye. The blow knocked Godzilla's head back, causing his thermonuclear blast to pull up as he fired it. As the ray seared the air above his head, Kong charged. Tackling Godzilla, the giant ape and the dinosaur smashed into a cliff face. Using his weight to pin the nuclear saurian, Kong took both of Godzilla's wrists in one huge hand to immobilize the beast's arms. With his free arm, the gorilla went to work on the dinosaur's face. Kong pounded the wailing dinosaur with an enormous fist and clawed at the two angry orange orbs that were Godzilla's eyes. A quick flash of atomic energy escaped the giant reptile's jaws, burning Kong's face. The surprised ape leapt back, howling in pain. Godzilla growled. This stupid thing was making a fool of him. Roaring in anger, Godzilla stomped towards the primate. As Kong ambled to meet him, the dinosaur spun quickly. His tail swept the ape's legs out from underneath him. As Godzilla prepared to blast Kong, the cunning animal decided to play dirty. Grabbing a hand full of sand, the gorilla tossed the debris into Godzilla's face. As the saurian grabbed at his eyes, Kong leapt at the temporarily blinded giant. As the mammal struck the reptile, Kong swung over Godzilla's shoulder to sit on the larger beast's back. Gripping the dinosaur's jaws, the ape began to pull. Godzilla gargled in agony as his jaws were pulled apart. A sickening snap announced that the atomic dragon's jaws were broken. Kong howled in victory. As the primate celebrated, Godzilla's spines flashed beneath him, the heat searing his skin and setting his fur alight. Jumping of the nuclear titan, Kong rolled in the sand, trying to smother the fire that was licking up his fur. Whipping around to face the thrashing ape, Godzilla let lose a stream of atomic power from his mangled maw that struck Kong in the chest.

Kong was knocked back. The blast wasn't particularly powerful, as most of Godzilla's strength had gone into healing his broken jaws, but it had been sufficient enough to knock the gorilla out of his adrenalin rush. Kong was tired. He no longer had the strength to fight. As the ape eyed Godzilla, he saw that the dinosaur shared the same story. And the nuclear dragon was furious about it. He only had enough energy to finish knitting his jaws back together. As soon as his jaw snapped back into place, his feline lips were pulled into a hideous snarl. This was the second time he had failed to kill the stupid ape! Two bitter enemies stared at each other. Their rematch had ended in a tie. There was no other way of seeing it. One question begged to be asked.

Who owned the island now?

Kong's blood pressure began to drop as the rage of battle left him. As he peered at the glaring Godzilla, something occurred to him. The scent of a child was covering the dinosaur. The King of the Monsters had a son. Kong now realized the atomic dragon reasons for coming here. He was seeking a home for his son and him. Kong grumbled, his hate for the prehistoric beast softening. The ape was a pushover when it came to young ones. There had been many a time where Kong should have slain a challenger to his throne, but had not because his opponent was a father or a mother. Kong looked at the beach around him, thinking. He never came to this beach. In fact, the only part of the island he used constantly were the mountains. Snorting, the ape made a decision. The Lord of Skull Island ambled back up to the incline that led to the beach, stopping at its peak. Standing tall, Kong gestured to the mountains behind him, then bellowed and beat his chest in a show of dominance. The primate then motioned at the beach, then pointed to Godzilla. The huge reptile grumbled, confused. Was the mammal suggesting that they share the island? Kong repeated his actions.

Godzilla locked eyes with Kong, wondering if this was another trick. After a few moments, Godzilla roared back to Kong. Turning, the ancient creature marched towards the sea. He had to get his son. As the organic nuclear reactor wading out to sea, Godzilla turned to look at Kong again. The ape was watching him intently. Kong beat his chest. Godzilla used his nuclear breath to carve a semicircle in the sea, vaporizing countless gallons of saltwater. With one last roar, the dinosaur dove into the ocean, powerful tail propelling him towards Monster Island. Kong grunted, then galloped back into the forest of Skull Island on all fours. As the two mortal foes went their separate ways, they were both sure of two things-

Godzilla would return with his son. And then, there would be two kings living on Skull Island.

Match 3
BRUCE VS. BIG MIC: BATTLE OFF THE BEACH
Image
_____________________________________________________________

The twenty-five foot great white shark, nicknamed “Bruce”, was hungry. Despite the name that the creatures' that called themselves “humans” had given her, she was very much female. As if any male of her species could reach her stupendous size! Cruising slowly through the water waters of coastal Australia, the misnamed fish took in the ocean, sensing any creature in a range of miles. Her senses were beyond incredible, more impressive that those of any other creature on Earth. If there was a living being absolutely anywhere near her, she could find it. With a flick of her caudal fin, the huge fish propelled herself towards the biggest prey item around- an lone adult bull orca. Increasing her cruising speed, she began tracking the marine mammal, narrowing her senses to focus solely on her prey. Because she had never met a beast that was a match for her, not even the shark-killer she was targeting, she could afford to do that.

She was a fairly intelligent animal. But, she was also very simple. She didn't actually think much, she usually just did. And that was had worked out just fine for her. After about half a hour of traveling, she began to close in on her prey. The orca came into her sight, a dark speck in a blue world. She approached the warm-blooded creature confidently, but not without her tactics. She made sure to stay behind the orca. Although her countershading made her hard to see from all angles, the huge dolphin's echolocation would be a problem is she strayed parallel or ahead of the creature. As she drew closer to the marine mammal, she began to pump her powerful, crescent-shaped caudal fin faster and faster. Soon her great mass was speeding towards the dolphin at over twenty-five miles per hour, a biological torpedo locked onto its unknowing target. As she closed the distance between her and her prey, the orca suddenly became aware of her approach and tried to escape, tail fluke sweeping downward desperately. Too late. Her jaws extended, a battering ram of gums and teeth, and her eyes rolled up into her head to protect them.

CRUNCH!

More than two tons of fish slammed into the dolphin's side. Her jaws closed instantaneously. Although her bite force wasn't very impressive, her serrated teeth easily sheared through skin, flesh, and blubber. Squealing in terror, the orca speed away, leaving behind both a large part of itself and a crimson trail. She made no attempt to chase after it. She swallowed the bloody chunk of flesh in her mouth with a few violent jerks of her head. Causally, she began to lazily follow the path of blood the fleeing mammal had created. She would follow the injured dolphin in her own time, knowing it would soon die from blood loss. It had been a good twenty feet long, a meal that would feed her for weeks, even months.

Tracking her meal, the warm-bodied fish entered some very shallow waters, apparently an attempt by the orca to loose her. The so-called killer whale had entered the water around a small island. What she didn't know is that she was also entering the territory of an equally huge predator.

As she moved further into the shallow waters of the island, she came across a huge cloud of blood in the water. Orca blood. Another carnivore had attack and killed her prey. Something similar to anger formed inside her. Fearlessly moving forward, she followed the strongest scent of blood hoping to confront the thief. Her ampullae of Lorenzini suddenly detected the magnetic field of an approaching creature. Turning to face the beast that stole her kill, her lateral line confirmed the thief's presence. As the violator's image became clear through the crystal-clear water, Bruce found herself looking at a creature she had never encountered before. It was big. Even bigger than her, at over thirty feet long. It had a shape alien to her, long and serpentine with short limbs hanging from its side. Instead of glittering fish scales or the smooth rubbery skin of a marine mammal, a rougher coat of pebbled scales covered its body, bone-enforced scutes protecting its back. Its jaws were long and slender, lined with conical teeth. A long, muscular tail trailed behind it, pushing it's almost two-ton body through the water. Unlike her pitch-black doll eyes, it had eyes that were bright and vivid. Dragon's eyes.

It was the enormous male saltwater crocodile, known in myths as “Big Mic”, century-old ruler of this area, both land and sea. And he was not a welcoming ruler.

Slowly circling one another, the two superpredators sized each other up and hoping the other would retreat. Of course, neither did. Both knew no fear. It was Big Mic who made the first move. Sweep of his powerful tail in a broad arc, the huge reptile launched himself at Bruce, mouth agape. The female shark easily evaded the crocodile with a flash of her caudal fin. Big Mic's fearsome jaws snapped shut on empty water. Banking quickly, Bruce rammed her snout into the reptile's ribs, giving him an exploratory pump. With one motion, Big Mic twisted his body away from her snout and delivered a powerful blow along her side with his tail. Bruce bolted away, surprised by the fast retaliation. Circling back around, the big fish swam beneath the dinosaurian creature and gave another exploratory bump to the beast's underside. Big Mic burst forward to leave the shark behind. Bruce followed easily overtaking the amphibious giant. Swimming over the irritated reptile, the great white brushed her snout against Big Mic's back. The enraged crocodile swung his head at the nuzzling fish, its mouth open wide in outrage. Bruce broke away from the ancient creature. Her curiosity fulfilled, the white shark turned back to the scaly amphibian, now ready to go on the attack. Her investigation of the creature had revealed that while the crocodile's back was armored, its sides and belly were soft. Perfect targets.

Charging at the reptile, Bruce opened her mouth to take the first bite. Big Mic's body worked like lightning trying to escape the shark's serrated teeth. Bruce's lethal jaws closed on the end of the reptile's tail. Shaking her head viciously, the fish ripped off the tip of the crocodilian's tail. Bubbles escaped Big Mic's maw in a silent scream of pain. Swinging around the vengeful crocodile closed his jaws on Bruce's tail, biting down just before her caudal fin. As a force roughly equal to the reptile's weight was delivered to her spine, the female fish thrashed wildly in pain, but was unable to escape the reptile's grip. Taking advantage of this fact, Big Mic went into a death roll, spinning the great fish violently. As Bruce was manhandled by the crocodile, she managed to pull free from the rotating reptile's jaws. Disorientated, the shark watched as Big Mic stopped his roll and right himself. The bite had severed her spinal column, but, because of its location, it wouldn't hinder her movement. Finally regaining her bearings, Bruce rushed towards the saurian creature. The crocodile charged to meet her. Easily outmaneuvering the less mobile creature, the great white twisted around the amphibious beast. The shark bit down hard on Big Mic's forelimb. Deadly teeth ripping and tearing, Bruce shook her head vigorously. The shark's teeth dug deeper into the crocodilian's flesh, but were unable to break the bone. In a desperate move, Big Mic death rolled, tearing his limb off. His advanced circulatory system immediately shut off blood flow to the area, minimizing blood loss. The agonized reptile let himself sink to the bottom as Bruce hungrily devoured his severed forearm. Pushing off the bottom, Big Mic lunged at the fish. The giant amphibian gripped one of the great white's pectoral fins in his jaws. With a quick twist of his armored head, the reptile ripped the fin off. The crocodile made a swift retreat as Bruce snapped at him, spitting out the unappetizing piece of cartilage.

Driven into a frenzy by the bloody water, Bruce attempted to chase down the injured beast. She only succeeded in swimming in a wide circle. Something like horror filled the fish. She couldn't swim. Without the full lift that her pectoral fins provided she was helpless. And Big Mic knew it. Circled the crippled shark, the crocodile darted in to nip and bite at the fish, taunting her. After growing bored of this, he simply grabbed Bruce's tail and began to tow her ashore. Passing over a reef, the thrashing shark smashed several coral beds. The crocodile pulled the struggling fish further away from the open sea. Clearing the reef, the shark struggled no further. The giant's now still body skidding across the sandy seabed. The shark had died from suffocation. Sharks were unable to pump water over their gills and had to keep swimming to breath. Finally reaching the shore, the enormous reptile dragged his equally enormous catch onto the beach, staining the sand with its blood. He pulled the big fish next to the orca he had finished off earlier. Big Mic was exhausted. The battle and blood loss had taken its toll of the ancient crocodile. Ripping open the dead shark's stomach, the saurian threw back its head and gulped down some of the creature's innards. Laying his head on the warm sand and began to drift off into sleep. He'd finish his meal later. Today had turned up so much food, he wouldn't have to hunt for almost a year. The shark was a bit bland, but the killer whale was delicious. Nice and fatty. Very filling. It was probably the blubber. In fact, it was possibly even better than human...

As the sun was still high in the afternoon sky, Big Mic slept.

Match 4
GREMLINS VS. KRITES: QUANTITY VS. QUALITY
Image
_____________________________________________________________

The small community known as Kingston Falls was in ruins.

Windows were broken and stores were looted. All electricity was out. Cars were aflame, dimly lighting the destruction around them. Several bodies laid in the street, limbs broken and twisted, faces cut and bruised. They were the lucky few. Most citizens were tied up in dark places, screaming helplessly into dirty, greasy rags, wrists and ankles bloody from struggling. They were going to be tortured. Their captors couldn't go outside during daylight, so they needed a good form of entertainment to occupy themselves until the sun when down. And the cause of all this mayhem? The source of the suffering and death that had occurred here?

A Mogwai feed after midnight and a local pool.

Yes, the small demonic humanoids, know as “Gremlins”, were responsible for the current state of Kingston Falls. Only a few feet tall, these scaly beasts were named for their habit to operate, destroy, and sabotage machinery. They were strange and terrible creatures, sadistic and violent, but still childlike in some aspects. Wile they may spend hours killing, maiming, drinking, and smoking, they will just as easily spend a better part of the day watching repeated showings of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, as they were at the moment. Most present in the cramped theater, the bat-eared bipeds sang happily along to “Heigh-Ho” and cackled hysterically all the while. They all were wearing sunglasses to protect their eyes from the light. Although they had taken brutal control over the small town their population had originated in, the Gremlins were happy there, holding no ambitions to leave their little patch of Hell.

That was one of the many things that differentiated theses miniature demons from the approaching species of fellow tiny terrors.

They were the extraterrestrial lifeforms known as Krites. At first glance they seemed to be fluffy fur-balls of a race, small, curious, and harmless. This, sadly, was not the truth. While they were small and curious, they were far from harmless. Upon closer inspection, their true nature began to become clear. Dozens of sharp fangs lined their large mouths. Their fur was actually countless of toxic needles that could be shot with deadly accuracy and speed. The venom used to slow down victims. They could curl in balls to quickly run down prey. What's more, they could also gather together to form one huge sphere of hungry maws and deadly fangs. While they were less in number than they Gremlins, the alien creatures made up for this in pure killing prowess. They had arrived on Earth several weeks ago, several of them escaping from an intergalactic prison in a highjacked trash pod. Since that time, they had traveled from town to town devouring the humans living there and growing in number, completely obliterating all attempts to halt their progress. The lethal fuzz-balls were now closing in on Kingston Falls, unaware that this community had already been claimed.

When these two races met, two things were certain: there would be a battle and it would be bloody.

Back in the theater, a Gremlin realized he had run out of candy. Grumbling angrily, the reptilian creature shook another Gremlin sitting next to him. The other demon snarled in anger as he turned to face his sweet-toothed companion. Gremlin One jerked his head in the direction of the theater door. Gremlin Two continued to growl. The first Gremlin grabbed a handful of empty candy wrappers in his claws and shoved them into Gremlin Two's face. Finally understanding, the second Gremlin checked his own supply of sweets. It was gone too. Both hopped from their seats and hobbled out of the theater. As they entered the main lobby, the two beasts froze. Someone else had reached the concession stand before them, and they weren't Gremlins. A group of Krites were stuffing their mouth with candy, popcorn, and hot dogs. A few of the aliens were even feasting on a few strangler Gremlins. As the feeding frenzy continued, Gremlin Two began to slowly walk backwards, towards the theater. Gremlin One glanced back just in time to see his companion slowly opening the theater door. The demon yelped in surprise and outrage at being left behind. Every single Krite in the lobby stopped eating and turned to look at the pair of hellish tricksters. As Gremlin Two quickly disappeared into the theater, the Krites descended upon Gremlin One. As the demon shrieked in terror, the ravenous creatures tore him apart, staining their teeth with bright green blood. Soon, all that was a stain on the carpet. Finishing their meal, the Krites looked up to realize that Gremlins had left the theater and now had them surrounded and outnumbered. Shoving his way forward, their mohawked leader, Stripe, screamed a horse warning to the invaders.

The Krites only chucked darkly in response.

In the blink of an eyes, hundred of organic darts were launched at the Gremlins. As the immediate row of demons fell to the projectiles, the Krites rushed into the bigger group of creatures. Ripping out chunks of flesh with yellow teeth, the extraterrestrial piranhas tore through the Gremlins. Stripe, who had ducked under the barrage to poison darts, was quick to make a retreat, taking a good number of other Gremlins with him. As the Krites continued to rip apart the Gremlins, the stunned demon finally began to fight back. Using their greater number to their advantage, the tricksters ganged up on the smaller creatures, beating and bludgeoning. Slashing with long arms and sharp claws, the Gremlins disemboweled and slit throats. The reptilian demons even used hot liquid butter and large slush drinks as makeshift weapons.

But it was useless.

Gremlin after Gremlin fell to the Krite's sharp darts. The alien creatures took huge bites out of the bat-eared demons. Green blood soon covered the theater lobby. Only a small group of Gremlins were left. It was now the Krites who had the greater number. Snickering and laughing, the sinister aliens began to close in on the frightened Gremlins, who pushed together in a tight ball in panic. The biggest Krite stepped forward, proclaiming himself leader. After a moment the lead Krite grunted, giving the command to attack. In a flash of dark pelts and ivory fangs, the Gremlins were shredded apart mercilessly, the Krites eating the scaly demons alive.

A saw disk suddenly flew through the air and cleaved a Krite in half.

The aliens froze in shock, blood, flesh, and entrails hanging from their jaws. A small group of Gremlins charged into the lobby. Wielding saws, blades, drills, hammers, and even guns of all kinds, the Gremlins began to even the odds. Chainsaws split Krites in two. Hammers spilled brains on the floor. Axes hacked limbs and heads off. Gunshots rang throughout the theater. The lead Krite growled in frustration as the Gremlins pinned in their quickly shrinking group. They were being beaten. The best they could do now was escape with their lives. The large Krite screamed a command to the other aliens. Breaking off from combat, the extraterrestrials curled up into roller balls and converged on their leader. Gremlins threw themselves to the side as large sphere made of a collection of the aliens rolled from the theater complex, bursting through a length of glass doors.

They didn't get far.

As the large roller ball made its way from the movie theater, a larger moving object intercepted its path. It was a steam roller, previously owned by the late Murray Futterman. And at the wheel was a cackling Stripe. The huge machine smashed into the fleeing Krites. The alien beasts were smashed and crushed as their combined roller ball collapsed. Some that escaped death after the initial impact were squashed flat by the powerful vehicle's wheels. As the handful of surviving Krites tried to escape, the remaining Gremlins struck with a vengeance. Skulls were smashed and bodies mutilated. As the lead Krite watch his allies slaughtered in cold blood, something cold and smooth was placed against his head.

The last sound he heard was a deafening gunshot as Stripe pulled the trigger of his favorite pistol.

As Stripe stood over the corpse of the lead Krite he slowly began to make his way back to the movie theater. He passed several other Gremlins capturing a few of the Krites who were injured, but still alive. He grumbled in approval. They should make for some interesting torture. Putting his sunglasses back on, he entered the theater and sat down.

He still needed to finish the movie.

Match 5
GODZILLA VS. GAMERA VS. HYPER GYAOS: ENEMIES UNITED
Image
_____________________________________________________________

Tokyo had gone to Hell.

Buildings were leveled, structures crushed, and skyscrapers toppled. Blinding columns of fire rose to the sky, lighting the terrible night with a demonic red tint. Thousands lay dead in the street, trampled underfoot or claimed victim by the flames. Those who still lived sobbed helplessly, knowing they too were doomed to die in this corpse of a city. And in the center of the sea of destruction that threatened to completely flood the once beautiful place-

Godzilla, child of the atomic bomb.

A tower of charcoal-grey scales, the dinosaurian juggernaut of skin, flesh, and bones made his way through the heart of city, all attempts to stop him left behind in the form of a smoldering shrapnel. Not caring that he would leave a path of death and chaos in his wake, the King of the Monsters had risen from Tokyo Bay to feed from Japan's nuclear reactors. His thirst for atomic energy dulled, Godzilla now made his way back to the sea and his new home of Skull Island. He was a beast of both great majesty and fear. A hundred meters tall, his back was lined with rows of irregular dorsal plates, a place for the great heat produced the atomic fission that powered him to escape. Huge, muscular legs held his great mass upright and sharp claws tipped his relatively short, but powerful arms. A long tail waved about behind him, half his overall length. His jaws were framed by three rows of ivory teeth, one on the bottom and two at the top. His orange, burning eyes glowed from their perch on his fierce face, two evil spotlights shining high in the dark sky. Firelight danced on the scales of the towering figure, giving a strange, terrifying beauty to the world's most infamous creature. As Godzilla halted his march through the city he had single-handedly slain, a high, scratching bellow escaped the victimized dinosaur, letting the whole world know of his furry.

His cry was answered by a warped, trumpeting roar.

Cutting through the night sky like a huge saw blade, a dark, jet-powered shape descended upon Godzilla. Its rapid rotation slowing, the thing came to a hovering stop in front of the saurian beast, its blue flames stabilizing it. As the strange object came to a complete stop, a fearsome head, armed with sharp teeth and twin tusks, emerged from a gap between the creature's armored shoulder. The four jets of flame roaring from its sockets vanished and four clawed limbs quickly replaced them. The now recognizably reptilian shape fell to the ground and landed bipedally, two legs sinking into the concrete below. Most of the mysterious being's body was protected by an thick shell. The creature's emerald eyes shone with determination.

It was Gamera, the huge turtle known as the Guardian of the Universe.

As Godzilla flashed his fangs at the terrapin in a vicious snarl, Gamera cried a warning to the dinosaur. He did not wish to fight, and neither did he hate Godzilla. In fact, he held great respect for the King of the Monsters. The beast had saved the world from far less hospitable monsters many times before. But, regretfully, Gamera could not let the nuclear saurian continued to kill innocent people. Godzilla ignored the other reptile's warning and continued to advance with a roar of challenge to the turtle. In Godzilla's eyes, no human was innocent. Gamera gritted his teeth. Deciding to give the prehistoric titan one last chance to back down, the Atlantian creation fire a fireball at the Monster King's feet. The plasma projectile exploded upon impact, creating a blossom of flames and smoke. Godzilla snorted, unimpressed with the display of power. Gamera shoulders sagged in a silent sigh. Godzilla insisted on fighting. So be it.

Godzilla made the first move.

The dinosaur's spines crackled with light, a neon blue glow battling the firelight for dominance over the black sky. The burning energy that powered the titan focussed, leaving Godzilla's maw in the form of a solid stream of power. Gamera raised up his arm defensively. The stream of superheated energy struck the turtle's arm, violently pushing it against the reptile's plastron. A beast fueled by flames, the intense heat of the weapon had no effect on the turtle. But the ray's physical strength was a different story. The brute force of the beam pushed Gamera back and toppled him over with a scream of pain. Godzilla spine's flashed again. Atomic fire filled the ancient beast's mouth, ready to be unleashed on the fallen guardian. But Gamera was quicker. Before Godzilla could launch his superheated breathe, a fireball slammed into his face and exploded on contact. Godzilla gave a roar of outrage as flames rushed over his upper body. As the smoke clear, the saurian's keen eyes narrowed in search of Gamera. He found the terrapin rushing at him. Giving a roar of effort, the giant turtle delivered a bone-jarring swipe to the size of the dinosaur's head. As he drew back his arm, Gamera used his elbow spike to carve a deep gash into Godzilla's hide. The wound began knitting up instantly, but that did nothing to dull the atomic dragon's rage. As a fireball formed in Gamera's open jaws, a quick flash of nuclear breathe was used to ignite it early. Gamera wailed as the sphere of plasma exploded, burning his mouth and scolding his face. Anger giving him strength, Godzilla sunk his claws deep into the guardian's shoulders. The furious reptile shoved the turtle to the ground and placed a heavy foot on his protected chest. Godzilla's spines crackled with atomic vengeance. Gamera eyes widened in horror. The guardian quickly pulled his legs into their sockets. Just as Godzilla unleashed the deadly energies within him, two fountains of flames sent Gamera soaring from underneath the dinosaur's foot. The atomic ray struck the street below, creating a bloom of destruction. To Godzilla's growing anger, a small crater had taken the place of Gamera's charred carcass. Howling with fury, the grimacing giant found his opponent in the skies. Arms flattened into organic stabilizers, the turtle flew circles around the land-bound beast. Ivory spines flashed. An nuclear blast was released, aiming to bring Gamera down from the air. The airborne reptile easily avoided the ray.

Mobility on his side, Gamera took the offensive.

Fireball after fireball slammed into Godzilla and exploded against the helpless saurian. The irradiated dinosaur wailed in pain, arms and tail flailing. His rapid regeneration was struggling to keep up with the damage being done by the vicious assault. But Gamera was not a merciless creature. Ceasing his onslaught, the good-natured monster gave Godzilla a chance to retreat. Unfortunately for the Atlantian beast, the Monster King never stopped coming, no matter what was thrown at him. Concentrating, the unbreakable titan manipulated the superpowers in his atomic heart. As Gamera circled above, Godzilla fired a narrow ray of nuclear energy. Several building were cut in two as the prehistoric creature swung the tight beam to intercept the terrapin's flightpath. The powerful stream of atomic heat collided with the terrapin. Gamera was thrown through the night, the powerful projectile sending the guardian spiraling back down to Earth. Quickly stabilizing himself with two additional streams of fire, Gamera manged to stop his fall just before crashing into the cold earth below. Godzilla snarled at the turtle's recovery. Ready to finish the job, the larger monster charged. The whole city shuddered under thunderous footfall and a broad path of building fell to the one-beast stampede. Gamera struggled to gain altitude. As the terrapin tried to escape to the skies, Godzilla's powerful tail cut a high arc in the air and was brought down on Gamera's head. The turtle fell, face buried into a thousand tons of rubble by the savage blow. The guardian slowly rose to his feet, only to have Godzilla's sharp claws slash his face open, splattering pale green blood across the city. White-hot agony explode into Gamera's body. As the wounded reptile stumbled back, Godzilla sunk his fangs into his exposed neck, spilling more of the turtle's blood. The shelled giant threw his back in a scream of pain. Gamera mind hardened, ready to do anything. While he was usually a honorable creature, he had to play dirty.

This was a fight he couldn't afford to lose.

While Godzilla continued to rip at his throat, Gamera thrust his claws into the berserk beast's face. With a single motion, both of the dinosaur's orange eyes were gouged out. Godzilla released the turtle with a high wail. Fortunately for the saurian, his regenerative powers would knit the vital organ back together. Unfortunately, in the time it takes could end up loosing the battle. Taking advantage of the Godzilla's temporary blindness, gamer took to the skies. All four columns of flames spinning him like a living UFO, the guardian dove at the sightless dinosaur. The fiery pinwheel collided with the nuclear dragon, pushing him back. The serrated bridge of the turtle's shell acted like a huge saw disc, hacking into the mutated reptile's pebbled skin. Breaching the thick hide, Gamera laid Godzilla's stomach open, exposing the goliath's innards. The dinosaur gave a pained bellow. Breaking away from the maimed beast, leaving Godzilla crashed to the ground bellow. Despite his horrific injuries, the Monster King immediately rose back up with a mighty roar. The last reminisce of Atlantis made a wide turn to attack again. As the spinning guardian approached the mutilated reptile, two bloody eye socket narrowed. Unbeknownst to the terrapin, Godzilla spine's began to glow. As the triphibian closed in, the glow became a blaze. Just before Gamera's rotating shell loped the dinosaur's head off, a huge, powerful blast of atomic energy was released from Godzilla's jaws. Engulfing the turtle's entire body, the wide beam immediately halted Gamera's flight. Focussing the ray, Godzilla pushed the terrapin back. The beam cutting deep into Gamera's shell, the surprised guardian was send smashing into a large skyscraper. Godzilla purred in satisfaction as the human structure collapsed on the lighter reptile. His victory was short-lived. Gamera bursted from the rubble of the crash, injured but still ready to fight. The guardian began absorbing the walls of flames that surrounded the area. Using the fire resulting from Godzilla's own rampage against him, the turtle fired a huge plasma fireball. Flying with amazing accuracy, the projectile travelled directly into Godzilla's open belly. The muffled explosion cooked the the saurian's insides. With a low gurgle, Godzilla went limp.

Gamera stood perfectly still. His skin was burt from the powerful blasts he had taken and his body bloody from the onslaught of tooth and claw. The battle had taken its tolls on him, but that wan't the reason for his motionlessness. He was trying to digest what he had just done. After a few minutes, it finally struck home. He had beaten Godzilla, the King of the Monsters himself. But was the dinosaur dead? Gamera doubted that. However destructive he was, Godzilla was a force of nature and that was something that couldn't be killed. In many minds, the nuclear titan was immortal. Then again, Gamera grumbled regretfully to himself while casting an emerald eye over the beast before him, maybe he had slain the Monster King. It did seem hard to believe that any beast could survive injuries like those. Moving slowly out of a mixture of pain and sorrow, the remorseful turtle strode to stand in front of Godzilla's still standing body. He had never meant for the duel to become lethal, but he supposed it had become unavoidable. Lowing his head and closing his eyes, the Guardian of the Universe paid his silent respects to Godzilla.

This noble act was repaid with a nuclear beam to the face. The shocked terrapin was thrown to the ground. Dazed by the blow, Gamera slow raised his head. Another ray came, blasting a chunk out of his shoulder. The fallen reptile screamed in pain and shock. Despite the blood dripping into his eyes, the guardian could still see the titan standing before hims in all his horrible glory.

It was Godzilla. Two eyes glittered dangerously, hungry for revenge. A large scar stretched across the dinosaur's stomach. Two rows of fangs were revealed in a furious snarl. Gamera had spilled his precious blood and he was going to repay the favor tenfold. Eyes glowing with hatred, Godzilla roared, bitterly stating his intent to flood Tokyo with green blood. Gamera knew he was defeated. If this beast had survived and recovered so quickly from the terrible damage done earlier, what else could he possible hope to do? Closing his eyes once again, the triphibian waited for the final blow. The broken beast felt a huge pressure on his chest as Godzilla placed his foot back on the turtle's plastron. The dinosaur lingered a few moments, simply enjoying this moment of triumph, the corner of his mouth pulling into a twisted grin. His enjoyment was broken by a distinctive screech. As Godzilla's head pulled sharply up in search of the thing that dare interrupt his kill, Gamera's eyes snapped open in alarm. The eyes of both were met by the same foreboding sight.

Hyper Gyaos.

Thousand of the reptilian buzzards emerged from the clouds, their crimson skin darkened by condensation. The air was filled with a chorus of hungry shrieks. Feral eyes focussed on the two giants below. Strands of saliva slowly dripped from jaws lined with stained teeth. A dark mass of ravenous reptiles blocked the moon and stars. Grudgingly, Godzilla removed his foot from Gamera's chest with a growl of irritation. He wasn't sparing the turtle out of respect, nor compassion. He was doing it out of necessity. It would take both of them to have a whisper of a chance against the swarm of loathsome creatures above. As Gamera rose painfully to his feet, the two beasts, once enemies, prepared to fight together. It was all or nothing now. Victory or death. The Shadow of Evil had descended upon Tokyo and only Earth's two greatest monsters could have any hope of defeating it.

After a few tense moments, the battle for the fate of Mankind erupted.

Golden sonic beams rained down from the sky. Acting fast, Gamera withdrew into his shell. Although the cutting rays carved deep gashes in his carapace, not a drop of the goliath turtle's green blood was spilled. Godzilla was not so fortunate. The yellow streams of vibrating energy sliced his skin to ribbons. The end of his tail dropped to the ground. His scalp was spilt open. Both his arms went limp. Many of of his spines were diced to bits. Blood seeped into the ground below the Monster King, black and wet. Crying out in sick delight the Gyaos began to spiral around Godzilla in a vortex of hunger. As the dinosaurs's regeneration began to knit his wounds back together, the eager scavengers struck. Piling on top of Godzilla's body, the flying demons began to eat the atomic saurian alive. Thin wails of agony rose pitifully to the sky. The Gyaos were in a frenzy, not caring if it were Godzilla or even their own that they were tearing at. Not even the King of the Monsters himself could survive the brutal punishment much longer.

A plasma fireball blasted a large number of Gyaos apart. Gamera cried a challenge to the vile things, coming to the aide of his temporary ally. About half the Gyaos rose into the air to meet their old foe's challenge. The Atlantian monsters clashed. Gamera launched a unceasing barrage of fireballs into the swarm of Gyaos, but no matter how many of the demons he destroyed, more just took their place. Before long, the huge bats were upon him. As the Gyaos attempted to rip him to shreds, Gamera did the best he could to fend them off. A quick swipe broke one's neck. His tusks tore another throat out. An elbow spike to the forehead brought another down. Growing desperate, the terrapin pulled in his legs and took to the skies. Gamera rocketed into the air, higher and higher by the second, the Gyaos close behind him. Several came too close and were set aflame. As the great turtle reached the upper layers of the atmosphere, he stopped. Falling back down through the swarm of carrion-eaters, the rest of Gamera's appendages disappeared and he blasted into a flurry of spinning. Countless Gyaos were ripped in half as the triphibian pinwheeled back down to the city below. But there were still too many of the giant buzzards. Claws dug deep into hi shell as multiple Gyaos clung to him, throwing his flight off-balance. The demons picking at the sockets that hide his limbs and head, the turtle plummeted towards the streets of Tokyo.

CRASH!

The guardian had crashed through the street and landed in the subway system below. The mangled bodies of two Gyaos laid crushed beneath him. Green blood stained the concrete. Gamera's limbs slowly oozed from its shell. As the turtle tried weakly to get back up, a group of Gyaos floated down to the deep crater he sat in. The biggest individual among them perched on his chest, a sinister grin warping its foul face. The Gyaos screeched a taunt to the terrapin. The air around its open mouth began to vibrate ominously. Gamera glared angrily at the creature he had been created to annihilate. Just before the demon bird split his head in two, an atomic blast vaporized the beast. Panicking, the rest of the Gyaos tried to flee but were quickly stopped by a fireball from the injured turtle. Slowly raising to his feet, Gamera was immediately met by Godzilla. Amazed that the dinosaur was still alive, the turtle examined the nuclear titan. Dozens of long, vertical scars covered his body and his chest heaved heavily. Behind him were hundreds of dead Gyaos, their bodies burt and broken. Gamera grumbled his admiration to the larger monster. Godzilla growled a warning in response. Just because he was fighting alongside the turtle, did not mean they were friends. Their were purely allies of the need for survival. The survival of themselves and the entire world. Gamera backed off and bowed his head in respect of Godzilla's wishes. United by the shared desire to protect the Earth- Gamera because of design and Godzilla because of his territorial nature- the guardian and the Monster King turned to face their foes. Striding in pace, the two giants were met by the remaining Gyaos, still hundreds strong. Godzilla and Gamera declared their defiance together with a duet of roars. Both were tired, but that wouldn't stop them. If they were to die, they'd die fighting. If this was the end, then the most they could do was take as many Gyaos down with them as they possibly could. Moving in perfect synch, the noble warrior and the atomic berserker charged, side by side. While even the mightiest of wicked beast would tremble in terror of the combined power of the two monsters, the Gyaos rushed to meet them. Alone, Gyaos were cowardly scavengers. But, when surrounded by their fellow demons, they were fearless. Number gave them power. And right now, they had all the power in the world. And Godzilla and Gamera were going to do everything they could to combat that power.

Gamera launched three fireballs in quick succession as he ran. The initial rows of approaching Gyaos were obliterated. As the flying goblins were pushed back by the explosion, Godzilla fire an atomic ray and swung it through the tight group of carrion-eaters. The beam of superheated plasma carved a path of death through the Gyaos. The airborne demons retaliated by launching a barrage of sonic rays. Gamera quickly stepped ahead of Godzilla and retracted all his limbs into his thick shell. Godzilla pulled himself in a tight ball, hiding behind his companion. Godzilla snarled in irritation. Why did his temporary partner have to be so small? The volley of cutting beams struck Gamera's protected chest. The oral weapons damaged the surface of the organic armor, but not penetrating it. Most of the sonic projectiles were blocked by Gamera's shell. The others cut through the air around Godzilla's barely hid form. The dinosaur barred his teeth in a grimace of agony as one of the golden rays sliced into an exposed part of his tail. The would healed almost instantly, but it still caused excruciating pain. Realizing their attack was useless, the Gyaos stopped firing their deadly beams. All screeching in unison, the scavengers bolted forward, leathery wings pounding the night air. The vile beasts propelled themselves at the two giants who opposed them. Raising from behind Gamera, Godzilla let the world know of his fury. He funneled all the pain that these abominations had caused him into a complete, uncontrollable rage. With a roar that shatter any windows in the entire city that still remained intact, the Monster King clashed with the Gyaos. Emerging from his shell, Gamera did likewise, joining the brawl. Godzilla crushed a Gyaos's skull between his hands. A Gyaos bite down on Gamera's arm. Gamera vaporized several Gyaos with a well-timed fireball. A Gyaos slashed at Godzilla's throat. Godzilla blew the offending Gyaos's head off with a blast of his nuclear breathe. Gyaos after Gyaos were destroyed, the fragile creatures claimed victim to the combined might of Godzilla and Gamera. But another Gyaos would just take the place of every one that fell and the battle was beginning to take its toll on the two defenders. Gamera was exhausted, his wounds slowing him down. With a glance at his berserk companion, the guardian found that Godzilla's regeneration was successfully combating the injuries caused by the Gyaos. But not even the prehistoric titan could last forever against the swarm of demons. Gamera gritted his teeth. He was a efficient warrior, but he doubted he could defeat the mass of carnivores. The turtles eyes widened as something occurred to him. He didn't have the raw power required to slay the huge number of Gyaos they faced.

But Godzilla does.

Eyes hard in determination, Gamera fought his way to Godzilla. The huge turtle placed his hand on the dinosaur's arm. The atomic dragon whipped around with a snarl. Gamera didn't respond. Gathering and concentrating all the mana within his body, the guardian began to channel his energy into Godzilla. Ivory spines flashed with golden power. Injuries disappeared. A heartbeat increased, driven by a flood of newfound strength. Red lightning danced across two orange eyes. Claws clenched in anticipation. An earth-and-air-shaking roar was uttered from between yellow fangs. The surrounding Gyaos froze in horror.

The King of the Monsters was ready to fight! Gamera fell to the ground, too tired to do anything but watch. He silently prayed that Godzilla would prevail.

Godzilla's dorsal plates burst into a blaze of crimson furry. The irradiated beast unleashed a blood-red ray of pure destruction upon the Gyaos. The spiral ray drove straight through the swarm of demons. Several of the carrion-eaters were vaporized instantly, countless others left falling from the sky in burnt piece. Giving a nasty grin at the death he was dealing, Godzilla fired another spiral ray. As the Gyaos tried to escape the beam, the superpowered dinosaur below swung it through them, burning more of the reptilian bats to a crisp. Several more spiral rays hacked at the writhing mass of scavengers. The Gyaos's numbers were falling fast. With Godzilla slashing his red atomic flames through their dwindling numbers, they'd soon be gone. The winged goblins were desperate. Diving, Gyaos descended upon Godzilla in a last ditch effort to slay the dinosaur. The nuclear powerhouse roared in outrage as the vile creatures covered his body. With slashed claws, ripping teeth, and flailing tail, Godzilla managed to bring down a good number of Gyaos, but they they were still overwhelming him. Gamera watched in horror as the demons began to tear Godzilla apart. The dinosaur wailed his agony as the Gyaos nipped, tore, and bit at his flesh. His spines flashed with red anger. A Gyaos clamped his jaws around Godzilla's windpipe, shutting it off and preventing the released of the dinosaur's spiral ray. With no where to go, the superheated energy began to build up. Godzilla's whole body began to heat up, burning the Gyaos covering his body. The demonic birds panicked. Lifting away from the glowing saurian, the Gyaos attempted to flee. It was too late. The incredible power welling up in Godzilla violently escaped. An orb of crimson fire rapidly expanded around the ancient giant. All the fleeing Gyaos were vaporized in mid-flight. In an instant, the Shadow of Evil was erased from the Earth.

As the blinding sphere of light faded, Godzilla appeared at its center, his new energy gone and his body tired. The sun was now rising over the horizon. Gamera gave a sigh of relief. The Gyaos were gone. They had succeeded. The guardian closed his eyes in weariness. He needed to recover his strength. Thunderous footfall interrupted his well-needed rest. Emerald eyes opened and were met by the sight of a looming Godzilla. A hard look was mounted of his feral features. Dread suddenly filled Gamera. He was now at Godzilla's mercy. And as far as he knew, the dinosaur had no mercy. Perhaps this was fair. He had failed where Godzilla had not. Perhaps Godzilla was now destined to protect the world from the threat of the Gyaos. Whatever fate had in store for the atomic beast, it was now the end of the line for Gamera. As Godzilla stooped down to finish him off, the Guardian of the Universe closed his eyes in registration. To the turtle's great surprised, it was not Death's hand that touched him, but Godzilla's. The dinosaur gently tapped his claws against Gamera's carapace. In that touch, a small amount of the titan's energy flowed into the Atlantian reptile. As Gamera used the strength Godzilla had gifted upon him to stand up, Godzilla turned around and began to head back to sea. Confused by this unexpected act of compassion, Gamera called out to the modern dragon. Godzilla turned to face the turtle. Looking into the Monster King's savage face, Gamera now understood. Pulling his legs into his shell, Gamera took off in a bloom of blue flame. Godzilla watched the guardian leave intently. Only when the noble defender soared out of sight, the dinosaur turn to leave once again. Stomping through the ruins of Tokyo, the nuclear behemoth growled. He didn't like the turtle. In fact, he loathed the the stupid thing. His sparing of the shelled creature had not been an act of kindness or gratitude. There was only one reason he had let Gamera live.

So that they could fight again.

Entering the sea, Godzilla grinning at the prospect. The other reptile had made quite a fun sparring partner. And next time they met, there'd be no holding back, no interruptions. There was only room for one of them in this world. And Godzilla had no intentions of surrendering this planet to the likes of the shelled nuisance. As Gamera cut threw the sky, he was also thinking of their next meeting. He sincerely hoped that the could fight together again one day. He truly wished to become friends with the dinosaur. Not only did he hold a even greater respect of the King of the Monsters now, but he didn't exactly cherish the thought of having such a powerful beast as an enemy.

As the two monster, one a defender and one a destroyer, parted ways, both now held the other in a special place in their mind. Whether good or bad, neither of them could wait to cross paths again.

_____________________________________________________________

On the isolated Faro Island, King Kong was at his mountainside home, watching over the sole village of native people. He was ensuring that no monsters or strange humans had arrived on the island. Suddenly, Kong saw the villagers running away. The huge gorilla turned and saw something perched on the mountaintop. It was the sadistic cyborg, Gigan.

Kong reacted quickly and picked up one of the rocks. The great ape threw it at Gigan, but the space creature acted swiftly and took flight. The rock rolled downhill before crashing onto the jungle floor, leveling a patch of trees. Kong roared and looked around for Gigan. The cyborg suddenly flew straight at him from behind. The unsuspecting gorilla turned around and had no time to react. Gigan hit King Kong in the head, making him stagger down the mountain side. He landed in a heap with a thunderous crash, shaking the whole island. Gigan though he had won, but Kong proved him wrong and got up. Bellowing, the ape charged. Gigan quickly kicked a rock, hitting Kong in the chest. The blow knocked the colossal ape down. Gigan took flight and landed on King Kong’s chest. Screeching, the cyborg started stomping on his chest, every stomp forcing a grunt from Kong. Gigan gave a laughing cry. But King Kong managed to grab the cyborg's leg and throws Gigan off of him. The space beast crashed near a cliff, sending rocks crashing down on his mechanically enhanced body. Gigan tried to get up, but Kong stepped on his head, pinning the strange being to the ground.

Gigan had no intentions of losing to an overgrown ape.

The cyborg raised his clawed hand and gouged it into Kong’s leg. The might mammal staggered back, but managed to keep his footing. Blood was pouring from his leg. Furious, Kong roared at Gigan. The cyborg got up and whipped around, his tail hitting Kong in the head. King Kong toppled backwards. Gigan rubbed his hammer-claws together in glee and screeched. The bizarre monster marched over to Kong's body and leaned down to see if he was dead.

Kong reared up and punched him square in the face.

Gigan roared in agony as he collapsed to the ground. Kong jumped on him and began pounding at his face, showing no sign of letting up. But Gigan had an idea. The buzz-saw in his abdomen whirled to life. The spinning blade ripped into Kong’s chest. Kong roared as the saw carved deeper in his body. Kong struggled and struggled, but it was no use. Losing the battle, Kong was about to give. But suddenly an idea gripped him. He grabbed the largest and foremost spike in Gigan's crest. The cyborg realized that Kong was going to pull it out. Gigan tried to rip Kong’s hand away, but the ape pulled at the steel spine harder and harder, until it finally tore free. Gigan screech and pulled the buzz saw out from Kong’s chest, the blade stopping its rotation. Kong rolled off of the otherworldly giant. Blood was gushing from his chest, but Kong didn’t care. All he cared about is killing Gigan. Kong threw the horn at Gigan. Distracted by the throbbing pain in his skull, the cyborg turned around too late. Before he had a chance to react, the spike hit him directly in his single, robotic eye, punching through the red surface. Gigan wailed in pain. While the cyborg struggled to see through his damaged eye, Kong kicked him in the face, causing the spike to dig in deeper. Gigan screeched as he crushed in a village hut. Kong repeatedly stepped on the horn until it reached the space monster's brain. Kong stomped down hard enough to drive the spike straight through his brain. The tip metallic spine was jutting from the back of the cyborg's neck. Gigan stopped moving. Kong waited a few minutes and watched for motion. There was none. Gigan was dead. Kong roared victoriously and slowly began his return to the mountain he called home to resume the watch over his cheering worshipers.

Match 6
GODZILLA & GAMERA VS. KING GHIDORAH VS. GRAND KING GHIDORAH: DISRUPTED TIMELINE
Image
_____________________________________________________________

In a large, open expanse of land outside of Tokyo, two kings clashed. Hills were blown apart by blast of nuclear power. Streaks of golden energy set trees alight and carved furrows into the earth. Smoke billowed into the air as two bitter rivals exchanged unforgiving attacks. As the smoke clears from the battlefield, the dueling forms of two giant of awesome power are revealed.

The atomic titan known as Godzilla and King Ghidorah, a three-headed dragon created by extremist from the future.

Godzilla threw back his head and gave a unearthly screech. King Ghidorah answered with a chorus of cackles and a trio of gravity bolts. The spears of raw power cut into Godzilla's thick hide, blowing small chunks of reptilian flesh from the goliath of charcoal-gray flesh. Godzilla roared his outrage to his golden adversary, a snarl fixed on his vaguely mammalian face. The wounds began to heal instantly, a side effect of the atomic blast that transformed Godzilla into the beast of both enormous size and power now known worldwide. Parting jaws unleashed another side-effect of the mutation. Godzilla's nuclear breathe slammed into Ghidorah's armored breast. The dragon only laughed in response. His golden scales were black and singed, but they had done their job and protected him from harm. Godzilla snarled at his multi-headed enemy's insolence. His powerful cry shaking the battlefield, the dinosaur charged. The landscape itself shook under saurian feet. As Godzilla closed in on his much-hated foe, King Ghidorah took to the air with one great sweep of his fan-like wings. Godzilla halted as Ghidorah hovered over him, his golden wings slowly churning the air. Fresh rage swelled within the atomic dinosaur. King Ghidorah was regarding him with a sneer, his cackling call mocking him. Godzilla growled dangerously. No one mocked him! The berserk creature vented his anger with a blast of nuclear energy. The stream of superheated plasma blew a gaping hole through one of King Ghidorah's wing. The draconic hydra nearly fell from the sky, struggling to maintain a lopsided flight. Three sneers were effectively wiped from three faces. As Godzilla's jaws cracked in a roar of triumph, gravity bolts shot from Ghidorah's maw straight into Godzilla's. The mutated saurian doubled over in pain, cut off mid-roar. His mighty bellow was reduced to pained gurgling. Blood slowly oozed from the corner Godzilla's mouth. Still hungry for revenge, King Ghidorah dove. The wicked dragon planted his feet into the side of Godzilla's head, topple over the King of the Monsters. Landing with an enormous thud, Ghidorah cackled at his fallen foe.

Godzilla did not share the same amusement.

A long, muscular tail collided with Ghidorah's legs, sweeping them out from underneath his great mass. As King Ghidorah crashed to the ground, Godzilla rose to his feet with a savage cry. The dragon's wing beat against the ground frantically in fear as the Monster King approached, Ghidorah desperate to stay safely away from Godzilla's wrath. He had no such luck. A clawed foot stomped down on his right neck, blood spewing from the corresponding mouth. Ghidorah shrieked in agony as one of his long windpipes was forcible collapsed again and again. Ghidorah felt part of his conscious slip into oblivion. Once Godzilla found the head was thoroughly dead, he blew it off at its base with a burst of atomic vengeance. The golden dragon began to panic. His remaining two heads both turned towards Godzilla and fired several gravity bolts into his eyes. The atomic beast stumbled back in pain with a wail of pain. Hurriedly taking to the air, King Ghidorah fired more gravity bolts, tearing open Godzilla's throat and splitting his face open. The dinosaur's incredible regeneration would soon cause the wounds to disappear, but it would give Ghidorah enough time to escape. The multi-headed creature fled to the skies, Godzilla, who was unable to follow, roaring after him in indignant fury.

But, once again, fate had other plans for King Ghidorah.

As Ghidorah made for the highest layers of the atmosphere in escape, something blindingly bright and unbelievable fast shrieked from the sky, something from past the stars and beyond the moon. The ball of heavenly flames was on a course clearly meant to intercept King Ghidorah. The golden hydra stopped, wing beating the air frantically, trying to avoid colliding with the fiery thing from space. Just as the burning object closed in on the dragon, it stopped. The fiery ball stood frozen for a moment, as if observing the terrified Ghidorah. The usually bold creature watching it as well, his normally cruel, black eyes wide in fright. From far below, Godzilla's feral eyes also peered at the strange, blazing object intently. Then, before four pairs of eyes, the fireball began to take shape. Two walls of flame stretched out to form wings. Licks of fire form a pair of powerfully muscular legs, two thick tails, and three long necks, each topped with a ferocious-looking head. Neither Godzilla or Ghidorah could believe their eyes. It was a second King Ghidorah.

Although the newcomer was undoubtedly another three-headed, golden dragon, there were some differences between this Ghidorah and the first. While the first Ghidorah was a magnificent sight, the second was even more so. But its beauty was a savage one. Each shining scale on its body glittered with malice. Elegant, deer-like horn curved from its three skulls. Its mouths brimmed with sharp teeth and each was pulled into an irate scowl. Vicious hooks tipped its shimmering wings, which didn't seem to be needed to keep the beast airborne. And where the first Ghidorah's eyes were black and soulless, this new Ghidorah's eyes were bright with evil contempt.

It was Grand King Ghidorah, the legendary planet killer, the King of Terror whose name was whispered among the universe in cold, dead fear. And he had come to this tiny, insignificant planet to investigate the rumors that some foolish race had created a pale copy of him for their own stupid plans. And judging by the pathetic clone of him practically wetting itself before him, these rumors were true. Three fanged maws pulled into sinister grins. He'd just have to fix that, now wouldn't he? Gravity bolts, countless times more powerful than the ones Godzilla had faced earlier, burst from Grand King Ghidorah's mouths and shredded the Futurian-created Ghidorah's already damaged wings. With thin wails of agony, the man-made dragon fell victim to the extraterrestrial one, plummeting back down to Earth. But Grand King Ghidorah wasn't done yet. Diving after the falling hydra, the eternal being ravaged the weak pretender's body with more gravity bolts, joyfully taking the cries of pain that accompanied each barrage of golden might. By the time the synthetic Ghidorah hit the ground, there was barely anything left of him. Grand King Ghidorah landed gracefully from his rapid descent, effortlessly manipulating gravity. Inspecting his the sad remains of the other hydra, the original Ghidorah admired his own handiwork with grim delight. His job was done. He prepared to take off, planning to tour this part of the cosmos in his fireball form. But... on the other hand, he could stick around this planet for a while. Destroy the surface life. Ravage the land. Have a little fun. Maybe even throw the puny planet off its axis and end it hurtling into the sun. As he pondered over the possibilities of doom for Earth, he noticed Godzilla for the first time. Ghidorah snorted as he gazed at the dinosaur. He thought he had wiped those all out. Must have missed one. But... there was something different about this creature. Not only was it significantly bigger, but it stirred something deep inside of him that he didn't like feeling- alarm. Now Grand King Ghidorah held himself in very high regards- higher than any other lifeform in fact- but even he had to admit this beast before him was definitively something. It looked immensely powerful and equally as vicious. Godzilla glared at him angrily, growling with his lips curled in a savage snarl. This new Ghidorah had taken the pleasure of killing the first Ghidorah from him. It would pay for that. Stepping forward, the King of the Monsters gave a roar of challenge to the King of Terror. Grand King Ghidorah smiled to himself. This beast would make a great playmate.

Ivory spines flashed with nuclear light. Godzilla's atomic breathe flooded out from his fanged jaws, streaking towards Grand King Ghidorah. As the superheated matter approached the space dragon, Ghidorah's scales manipulated the light emitted by the attack, forming an energy shield. Godzilla's mightiest weapon simply washed over this shield. Grand King Ghidorah grinned, his eyes dancing with laughter. For the first time since his mutation, Godzilla felt a shiver of fear run through him. It wasn't unfounded, as he would soon discover in the nastiest of ways. The dinosaur's chest erupted in a flash of golden power and a shower of flesh and blood. An excruciating howl escaped the titan's parted jaws. Grand King Ghidorah scowled as the wound began to heal. He'd need to put an end to that. More gravity bolts exploded from his three maws, blowing Godzilla's body further open. The atomic behemoth's cries became higher in pained. Cackling sadistically, Grand King Ghidorah sent a barrage of his energy harpoons into the open wound. Each blast made it larger and wore away at Godzilla's strength, the gravity bolts effectively combating Godzilla super regenerative power. Although he was having quite a bit of fun, Grand King Ghidorah was disappointed. He'd though this beast would put up a real fight. He energy quickly being sapped away by the fruitless regeneration of the wounds Ghidorah was targeting, Godzilla was desperate. Drawing upon the power once bestowed upon him by an ally of necessity, the mutant berserker fired a crimson nuclear beam that's power far surpassed that of his standard ray. Although this new power took Grand King Ghidorah by surprise, he was confident that his light barrier would block it. He was proven dead wrong as the blood-red beam shattered his shield and burned his body, vaporized a patch of scales. Shocked at actually being injured, Ghidorah's assault stopped as all three of the golden hydra's heads screeched in a united cry of pain and- strangely enough- celebration. A glint entered the dragon's eyes. Finally! A true challenge!

As Grand King Ghidorah cackled his delight, Godzilla couldn't help but feel less enthusiastic. He was tired. The combined effort of the continuous and still unfinished healing of his open chest and summoning a spiral ray was a severe toll on his body. But that wouldn't stop him. Even if it was to his last breathe, he'd fight this new monstrosity! His chest finally closed up. Now ready to brawl, Godzilla directed a tremendous at Grand King Ghidorah, a challenge to the alien juggernaut. Cackling madly, the dragon took to the air, readily accepting the challenge. As Ghidorah closed in on Godzilla, soaring just over the ground, the dinosaur rushed to meet him.

Godzilla gripped on of Grand King Ghidorah's legs and bit down, ivory teeth piercing golden scales. Ghidorah screeched in pain and joy. Cackling wildly, the hydra fired a single gravity bolt into Godzilla's face. The atomic titan released his grip with a wail. Feral eyes smoldering with anger, Godzilla unleashed a nuclear ray. Ghidorah toppled backwards as the beam was pulled across his three grinning faces. His heads lacked the reflective scales that covered the rest of his body. Sensing temporary weakness in his foe, Godzilla attacked again, aiming for the same vulnerable spot. Atomic flames washed over Grand King Ghidorah's head once again, blowing off several of his deer-like horns. The space dragon's insane laughter only grew louder. This was more fun than he could have ever imagined! Godzilla was not so amused. The nuclear leviathan was enraged! The dinosaur's pupils shrunk to pinpoints. Irregular spines burst to life with crimson fury. A painfully loud roar hacked into Ghidorah's ears.

The King of the Monster had gone completely berserk.

Angry nuclear energy slashed across Grand king Ghidorah's body, throwing scales and flesh into the air. The world-destroying hydra's cackling ceased. Rising to a feet with a sweep of his grand wings, Ghidorah began to glow with golden power. Three heads grinned in anticipation. His shield was useless against Godzilla's spiral ray. His only option now was too meet the dinosaur with his full power. This, the dragon's thought with a mad tinkle in his eyes, was going to the greatest battle this world's ever seen! Godzilla added a gaping crater in the ground with his blood-hued beam. Grand King Ghidorah made it ever larger with a few blast of his super-charged gravity bolts. Displays of power not intimidating either combatants, the duel between Earth's greatest champion and the universe's greatest terror exploded back into action.

Gravity bolts clashed with Godzilla's thick hide, easily harpooning it. Godzilla's spiral ray just as easily shatter Ghidorah's light barrier and hard scales. Both adversaries taking heavy blows, the two powerhouses exchanged attacks of almost unimaginable might. Charcoal-grey flesh, golden scales, and blood littered the ground. Still battling for dominance with their respective energy-based attacks, Godzilla and Grand King Ghidorah both charged. As the two clashed, Ghidorah's three fanged max immediately found their way onto Godzilla's body, the dragon biting down on his neck and shoulders. Roaring in outrage, Godzilla slammed his mass into Ghidorah, throwing the space hydra backwards. The Monster King's out-of-control state gave increased his already enormous physical strength. Ready to finish the the fight, crimson atomic fire gathered in Godzilla's maw, licks of raw power spilling out. But before the dinosaur could unleash the spiral ray, Ghidorah lashed out. Gravity bolts burst not from the dragon's three mouths, but also from the six curved spikes that tipped the each of his wings. As fifteen super-charged gravity bolts struck his body, Godzilla was forced back, his spiral ray erratically searing the air above Ghidorah. Rising to his feet, Grand King Ghidorah poured even more power into his assault, taking a step forward for every step he forced his saurian adversary back. Bellow of pain fill the air as the golden lances of energy tore as Godzilla's body, ripping open huge wounds and burning the raw injuries. The nuclear juggernaut's regeneration was begging to fail, the gravity bolts beating it into submission. Finally, the monster King gave a terrible screech as fell to Grand king Ghidorah's might. Sprawled on his side, the atomic dinosaur grumbled weakly in defeat, barely conscious.

But Ghidorah wasn't done yet.

A sadistic light in his eyes, the golden dragon approached Godzilla's limp form. Laughing into the fallen behemoth's face, the wicked hydra gripped Godzilla in his three jaws, one clamped around his neck, one around his arm, and one around his thigh. The, bending Earth's gravity to his will, Ghidorah began to lift Godzilla into the air. Higher and higher they went, until Godzilla was struggling to breath in the thin atmosphere. Growling softly, the prehistoric giant stirred. Grand King Ghidorah quickly put a stop to that. The corners of his mouths curled cruelly, the dragon fired three gravity bolts at point-blank range, neatly punching three hole into the dinosaur. Godzilla resistance ceased instantly. Sinister delight flickered across Ghidorah's eyes.

Thousands of feet in the air, the dragon released Godzilla from his grip.

As Godzilla plunged through the sky, a rain of gravity bolts followed him, exploding against his flesh in free-fall. Cackling, Grand King Godzilla watched Godzilla grow smaller and smaller, pelting him with gravity bolts all the way, until...

BOOM!

Ghidorah exploded into laughter. Slowly descending to inspect his work, the extraterrestrial hydra raking Godzilla's still form with more gravity bolts. By the time Grand King Ghidorah touched down near the charred outline of the former King of the Monsters, the stench of burning flesh dominated the air. Ghidorah placed a clawed foot upon the ravaged dinosaur's body. The King of Terror smiled. It was about time this “king” was beheaded. As golden energies churned in the dragon's core, a very faint heartbeat reached Ghidorah's ears.

Godzilla was still alive.

Ghidorah's blood was still roaring with excitement of battle, but he forced himself to removed his foot from the savaged reptile. A sick idea was forming in his dark twisted mind. Perhaps he should spare Godzilla. Not out of pity or mercy of course, but to be able to defeat him all over agin. In fact, maybe he could make a game out of it. Fight Godzilla. Defeat Godzilla. Mutilate Godzilla. Spare Godzilla. And then start all over again. He could strand Godzilla on some isolated planet or such, like the living toy of greedy, hording child. If a three-headed, draconic, world-destroying monster could be compared to a child anyway. As Ghidorah pondered over this, a fireball exploded against his back, almost throwing him flat of his face. His shield had blocked the actual projectile, but not the shockwave of the resulting explosion. Anger at being interrupted, grand King Ghidorah turned to face the offender.

Propelled by two columns of blue flames that took the place of his legs, Gamera, Guardian of the Universe, soared out of the cloud bank! The great turtle gave a trumpeting roar announcing his intention of defending both Godzilla and the Earth itself. Grand King Ghidorah grinned at the arrival of another plaything. If all these Earth beast had such fight in them, he'd have to make this world his personal planetary playground.

A mix of fear and determination lurked in Gamera's emerald eyes. Anything strong enough to defeat Godzilla so soundly must posses monstrous power. But that didn't change the fact that Gamera had to act. However destructive and wrathful he was Godzilla was a fierce defender of Earth, vital to the survival of the planet. Although he had no love for the turtle, Godzilla would fight Grand King Ghidorah alongside Gamera, as they had done against the Gyaos, the Shadow of Evil. Gamera would have to hold off Ghidorah alone until Godzilla recovered.

If he ever did.

The twin jets of azure fire powering Gamera's flight ceased. The flaps of skin that turned the reptile's arms into organic rudders retracted. As the turtle dropped from the sky, his legs swiftly emerged from his shell and broke his fall with a hefty whumph. As soon as the Guardian of the universe hit the ground, the battle began.

Three fireballs erupted from Gamera's mouth in rapid succession, one for each gravity bolts Grand King Ghidorah fired in retaliation. The bolts of golden death tore through the fireballs, detonating them in midair. But through the sheet of smoke that was thrown into the by the explosion came three more spheres of burning plasma. Before Ghidorah could launch another counterattack, the fireballs struck him, releasing the unstable power within. His shield protected him from the flames and because he was prepared for the blow, Ghidorah easily withstood the force of the explosions. The otherworldly terror mocked Gamer with wild cackling. Gamera gritted his teeth. A head-on assault was useless against the space dragon. If he was going to survive this fight, he needed to fight smart. He was outclassed, but strength wasn't everything. Before Gamera could adopt a tactic, Grand King Ghidorah fired a volley of gravity bolts that raked up the turtle's torso. Although the guardian's plastron shielded his chest and shoulder from damage, Gamera's arms, neck, and face were shredded. The Atlantian beast threw his head back in a wail of pain as pale, green blood gushed from his body. The heroic defender's leg disappeared in a burst of fire and smoke. Lifting from the ground, the turtle became airborne, narrowly avoiding another barrage of gravity bolts. Cackling, Ghidorah followed.

Cutting through the clouds, Gamera spun, looped, and banked, trying to outmaneuver Grand King Ghidorah. Trailing close behind, the hydra distorted the air around Gamera with gravity bolts. The destructive streaks of power slashed throw the sky, occasionally nicking Gamera a and teasing out a dash of his green lifeblood. The turtle growled. Ghidorah was toying with him. Fine, the champion though bitterly, toy with this. Wheeling around, Gamera launched a fireball directly into the golden dragon's smug trio of faces. Grand King Ghidorah screeched with pain and surprise as fire poured over his unprotected heads. When he opened his three pairs of eyes, Gamera was rapidly filling his field of vision. All of Grand King Ghidorah's jaws went lack, his eyes saying what he lacked the vocal cords to do. Oh shit...

The guardian and the world-destroyer collided in midair.

Unable to hold the weight of a second, charging giant, Grand King Ghidorah's gravity manipulation shattered. Joint in a embrace of claws and fangs, Gamera and the dragon plunged from the sky together. Roaring, Gamera angled his body downwards to increase the speed of the fall. Ghidorah screeched his outrage. Usually, he would have cut the turtle in half with his gravity bolts by now, but Gamera's claws were clamped firmly around the jaws of two heads and the tiniest of flames flickering in his emerald eyes told the dragon that a fireball was only a moment of struggling away. His desire to break free from Gamera's grip wasn't quite as great as his desire to avoid a white-hot ball of plasma being fired down one of his throats and into his gullet. As the two monster approached the ground, Gamera released the winged hydra. A second latter, the the shelled reptile's arm gushed blue fire, stabilizing the Atlantian relic. Grand King Ghidorah tried to stop his fall by bending gravity, but his efforts were crushed when several fireballs- courtesy of Gamera- exploded against his shield, pushing his writhing body down even faster. With three frustrated wails, the space dragon smashed into the ground, karma's way of extracting revenge for Godzilla.

BOOM!

Gamera hovered above, watching for movement. Had he defeated the three-headed monstrosity? Grand King Ghidorah answered that question for him with furious bellowing. Rearing to his feet, the dragon began to glow with golden rage. That rage was unleashed in the form of three huge gravity bolts. The thick thunderclaps of power twisted together, practically becoming a single bolt of otherworldly might. The javelin of raw destruction punched straight through Gamera's plastron and exploded from his carapace in a geyser of green blood. Shrieking in agony, the turtle began to spin wildly through the air. Ghidorah watched with smoldering eyes as Gamera jetted head-first into the ground. The gaping hole in his chest smoking, Gamera weakly propped himself up on his spiked elbows, blood slowly oozing into his eyes from the crash. His anger satisfied, Ghidorah's usual air of relaxed pompousness returned.

Gamera panted heavily. He was now too wounded to fight alone. He needed help. And luckily, he knew where to find it. Behind the sneering form of Grand King Ghidorah, Godzilla was showing signs of waking. His burnt, mangled body was healed, his regeneration now back in play. The was also the occasional twitch of a finger, a jerk of the tail, or a slight curl of the lip. The king of the Monster would be ready to fight again soon. But soon wasn't good enough. Gamera needed help now. Well, the turtle though, then it was time for a wakeup call. A fireball exploded from the guardian's throat. Ghidorah grinned. Did the turtle really intend to keep fighting? It was laughable. The the multi-headed entity's surprise, the fireball flew straight past him... towards Godzilla. The sphere of energetic plasma exploded on contact with the Monster King. Fire washed over his still body, a wall of flames engulfing him. Ghidorah grumbled in confusion. Weren't these two creatures allies. The dragon stared at Gamer intently. What was the turtle's game? The two waited a few moments. Nothing happened. Ghidorah snorted. Whatever the turtle had tried hadn't worked.

Unseen to both Gamera and Ghidorah, two blazing orange eyes opened inside the flames, rivaling the fire in intensity.

Grand King Ghidorah grinned at Gamera. The guardian couldn't help but shudder. That grin ensured that there was nothing pleasant in store for the champion. But before Ghidorah could begin his torture of the turtle, a ray of neon vengeance swept aside the wall of fire behind the sinister dragon. The atomic beam struck the back of Ghidorah's heads, destroying what was left of his once magnificent horns. As the golden demon staggered to forward, a familiar roar filled the sky, driving the smallest whisper of fear into Ghidorah's black heart. Bellowing his return to the world, Godzilla marched from the fire that awoken him. Fatigue gnawed at his muscles every step of the way, but the atomic titan stomped straight to Ghidorah, halting far enough away to match Gamera's position on the dragon's opposite side. As the dinosaur glared at the dragon, blue lightning cracked across his eyes. Gamera, encouraged by the Monster King's recovery, shakily rose to his feet, new strength forming in his emerald eyes. The two giant's locked eyes for a spit second. In the tiny amount of time, something passed between then, an unspoken agreement of alliance. Standing together, Earth's two greats protector would engage its greatest threat in one last battle.Grand King Ghidorah had another view of the situation. It was a worn out dinosaur and a injured turtle against him, the strongest and most ancient being in all the universe. The planet-killer smiled. This world was as good as his. While he had found Godzilla and Gamera very amusing earlier, the entertainment was gone. Now the two only irritated him. After slaying them several times over, he'd obliterate this puny rock and be on his way. But Godzilla and Gamera weren't going down without a fight. As the two reptiles prepared for battle, Ghidorah simply smirked.

And that's when the one of the greatest duels ever and the conflict that would decide the fate of Earth and all its inhabitants began.

Whipping in opposite directions, two of Grand King Ghidorah's heads unleashed gravity bolts upon Godzilla and Gamera. The remaining head simply grinned and watched the show. Even as the gravity bolts tore at their flesh, Godzilla and Gamera trudged on, knowing that the stakes of this fight were too high. If they failed, their home was doomed. As the Monster King and the Guardian of the Universe closed in on him, Ghidorah decided to was time to the air. As the great hydra tried to leave the ground, Godzilla and Gamera each grabbed a leg. Heaving with all their strength, the two giant reptiles threw Ghidorah to the ground. Acting in perfect synchronization, a fireball and a atomic beam were fired at the thrashing dragon. The attacks simply dispersed over Ghidorah's shield. Godzilla snarled in anger as Ghidorah tried to get up. The dinosaurs slammed his foot down of the golden planet-buster's chest, pushing him back down. Mouth curled into a savage smile, the nuclear powerhouse began slashing, smashing, and beating Grand King Ghidorah with his claws and closed fists, sparks flying from the winged creature's protective scales with each strike. As the Monster King kept Ghidorah at bay, Gamera was deep in thought. Ghidorah's shield. They needed to get rid of it. It blocked all but the strongest of energy-based attacks. But how could they get past a barrier that used the very light of their attacks? Gamera's emerald eyes flashed with revelation.

That was it.

As Godzilla and Grand king Ghidorah grappled for dominance, Gamera stomped over to a nearby forest. Three fireballs were sufficient to set the whole expanse of tree ablaze. As the flames rose, Gamera returned his attention to the fight. It was now up to Mother Earth herself as when the guardian's plan could be utilized. As Gamera turned around, Godzilla suddenly slammed into him, causing the two to collapsed into a heap of scaly skin. Ghidorah cackled manically as the allies struggle to get up. A barrage of biting gravity bolts didn't make the task any easier. The golden energy spears cut deep into Godzilla and Gamera's hides, tearing screams of pain from both. Eyes flaring, Gamera sent a fireball soaring through the volley of gravity bolts towards Ghidorah. His assault ceasing, the space dragon pulled his three heads under the ball of flames as soared overhead. The fireball blew a hill apart a little ways off. Seizing the moment, Godzilla and Gamera charged. The two tackled Ghidorah, their combined mass easily toppling the King of Terror. As the world-destroyer struggled to escape the crushing power of their total girth, Godzilla and Gamera lashed out. Gamera craved a deep gash into the dragon's chest with his elbow spike. Godzilla clawed at Ghidorah's three snapping heads, trying to gouging out one pair of the hydra's eyes. Screeching in pain, Grand King Ghidorah unleashed twelve furious gravity bolts from his wings, throwing his two attackers off. Rising to his feet, the wicked beast snarled angrily. These two were wearing down his last nerve! Before Godzilla and Gamera could return to their feet, the planet-killer unleashed golden Hell. Gravity bolts exploded from Ghidorah, tearing apart both the land and the two monster writhing upon it. As he and Godzilla wailed in pain, Gamera saw that the forest he had set on fire as now nothing more than a field of ash. Good. With four blast of azure fire, Gamera began to spin, going faster and faster. Soon, the terrapin was in the air, hovering like a flying saucer. The rotating champion angled himself slight and took off, soaring away from the volley of gravity bolts. As the turtle left, Godzilla watched him, eyes burning with resent. How dare he abandon him! Ghidorah simply cackled in dark glee. Desert? Betrayal? So delicious!

But to the surprise of both, Gamera's spinning shape made a wide turn, descending towards a smoldering forest. As the heritage of Atlantis approached, he kicked up a whirlwind of ash and dust. The huge mass of swirling wind, ash, and dirt swept towards Godzilla and Ghidorah, pushed along by Gamera. As the cloud engulfed the two, gravity bolts cut through it, trying to strike Gamera from the sky. As the gigantic dirt devil fell back to the ground, Grand King Ghidorah was faced by Godzilla and Gamera, standing tall, shoulder to shoulder. The space dragon snorted in contempt. They still though the stood a ghost of a chance? Pathetic... But something was making the universal horror uneasy. There was a strange, knowing light in Gamera's eyes. The crafty turtle was up to something... Gamera suddenly launched a single fireball at him. He payed little attention to the plasma projectile, choosing to focus on justifying his suspicions. Gamera proven then for him when fireball, instead of exploding against his shield, blew a hole into his golden armor. Grand King Ghidorah shrieked in shock and pain. Why hadn't his barrier blocked the attack? The hydra looked down upon his own body. His three jaws dropped open.

His reflective scales were covered in soot.

Grand King Ghidorah looked up in horror. As he raised his three heads, several fireballs struck his chest, exploding. With a wail of pain, the planet-buster fell over. Determined to put an end to Ghidorah's reign or terror, Godzilla and Gamera closed in. Fireballs and nuclear flames blasted the dragon's body, scattering scales and scorched chunks of flesh everywhere. Ghidorah screeched in agony as Godzilla and Gamera wore down his armored body, explosions and superheated plasma eating way at him. The golden dragon raised his heads to launched a counterattack. Godzilla and Gamera were faster, simultaneously drawing upon the power within their very cores. As three jaws parted to release gravity bolts, Ghidorah's left head was vaporized by a spiral ray and his right head blow to smithereens by a huge fireball. As the cauterized stumps of the hydra's destroyed heads slumped against his body, Ghidorah realized he was beat. The best he could do now was escape with his life. The planet-killer rose into the air. Godzilla wasn't going to let him get away. Crimson beams punched serval holes into his wings, but, because it was Ghidorah's gravity manipulation that allowed him to fly, the dragon continued to rise. Snarling, Godzilla rushed at the fleeing Ghidorah. As the space demon tried to break free of Earth's gravity, his intentions to leave the atmosphere and travel far beyond these accursed galaxy, he was suddenly halted. Ghidorah's surviving head looked down with a mad look in his eyes. Godzilla's claws were sunk into his legs, holding him back. He fired a gravity bolts directly into the Monster King's face. The mutant dinosaur endured the blow and held tight. Barring his fangs, the dragon ripped open the atomic behemoth's face again and again, but Godzilla refused to let go. As Grand King Ghidorah tried desperately to free himself from Godzilla's grip, Gamera was summoning his moth potent weapon. As the turtle closed his eyes in concentration, huge, endless rings of pure, golden power pulsated through the sky, actually visible from space, focussing on Gamera. The energy of Mother Earth herself began into the Guardian of the Universe, filling him with unimaginable strength. The champion's plastron opened, revealing a glowing orb of the planet's life-force. With a deafening roar, Gamera unleashed the boundless power gathering in his body in an attack of unmatched might.

The Manna Beam.

A intense light filled the air. Gamera dug his feet deep into the soil to prevent himself from being blown away. Despite every instinct in his body screaming at him to move, Godzilla stood still, holding Grand King Ghidorah in the attack's path. A spit second before the blast of raw power struck Ghidorah, Godzilla released the dragon and ducked in cover. Ghidorah managed to let out one scream of pure fear before the Manna Beam engulfed him.

As the last light of the powerful attack faded, Grand King Ghidorah was gone. Absolutely nothing remained of the space dragon. The eyes of Godzilla and Gamera met. They had won. They had saved the Earth. And now it was time for them to go separate ways again. As the two giant turned their back on one another, Gamera wondered in Godzilla still wished to fight him again someday. The turtle's legs disappeared in a blast of smoke. Two columns of blue flames emerged from the cloud of smoke, launching the Guardian of the Universe into the air. This was twice that the two of them had joined forced to defeat an evil beyond their individual might. Perhaps the King of the Monster now saw him a true ally, a companion even. Hopeful thoughts in his head, Gamera entered the clouds, leaving Godzilla- and maybe, just maybe a friend- behind.

Far below, Godzilla marched wearily towards the ocean. He was tired and wanted to return home. Too bad he had no energy left. It would have been a real treat to duel with Gamera again. The dinosaur's maw cracked into a grin.

The turtle still owed him a charred corpse.

Match 7
DEADLY MANTIS VS. GIANT TARANTULA VS. BLACK SCORPION VS. GIANT GILA MONSTER: GIANT DESERT BRAWL
Image
_____________________________________________________________

An armored giant from the bowels of the Earth codenamed el Escorpión Negro- or the Black Scorpion- was marching through the American Southwest. The hulking beast had migrated north from Mexico, seeking refuge from the armed forces that had driven it all the way into the United States. The huge scorpion was pitch black from head to toe, its while body encased in a thick, protective exoskeleton. Sans one small soft spot on its throat, the arachnid was practically impervious to conventional weaponry. Towering over the landscape, the giant scorpion felt all but invincible. Its pincers clacking in self-praise.

But it wasn't the only giant in this desert.

A deafening buzzing filled the air. The scorpion paused, raising its eyes to the watch the sky. Descending from the clouds was another giant invertebrate. An insect, of the mantid family to be specific. It was a prehistoric monster, unleashed from its icy tomb in the Arctic by volcanic activity. The press had deemed in the “Deadly Mantis”. Kicking up twin whirlwinds of sand, the huge bug landed, bellowing to the scorpion. The arachnid roared back, acknowledging the challenge put forth by the other creature. Hissing and snarling- both giants had unusual vocal features because of their unique origins- the two invertebrates circled each other, trying to intimidate the other into retreating. It wasn't happening. Wanting to end the dispute swiftly, the two boneless behemoths lunged.

Not all the participants of this contest for survival had arrived yet though.

The sandy soil between the charging giants erupted. From the unenergetic explosion of sand, sediment, and dirt, a titan of orange and black pebbled scales emerged. It was a Gila monster, a species of sturdy, venomous lizard, only it was nearly a hundred feet long. The beast had grown to such enormous sizes from an unbalance of salt in its native ecosystem. The lizard had been in a deep sleep for several years, but the mix of commotion happening on the surface and intense hunger had pulled it from its slumber. The great reptile's forked tongue tasting the air. All its senses were immediately overwhelmed by two equally huge creature. The Gila monster's lazy eyes noted the scorpion and the mantis. While potentially dangerous to engage, these two would feed him for the next few decades. With a bit of effort, the reptile pulled itself forward, silently announcing itself part of the battle.

And as the mammoth lizard did so, the final oversized creature of the desert habitat revealed itself.

A long, hairy legs reached delicately over a nearby hill. Sitting atop eight of these segmented limbs, a massive body slowly pulled itself into view. A hideous head led a large, bristled abdomen, equipped with a silk-carrying spinneret. The head was set with several pairs of beady eyes and two fangs glistening with venom. With a guttural bellow, the great creature declared itself a combatant. It was an giant tarantula, a product of generic experimentation with food gone horribly wrong. Pincers clicking together in anticipation, the spider beheld three potential meals.

With all four giants in place, the great desert battle royal began.

The mantis made the first move. Zipping forward with a buzz of its wings, the mighty predator lashed out at the scorpion with its jagged, toothed arms. The blow raked uselessly across the arachnid's armor. Bellowing, the scorpion snapped at the mantid in retaliation. The nimble insect jumped over the pincers and hovered in midair just above the scorpion's reach. Infuriated, the armored giant made several fruitless swipes at the mantis, its eight legs carrying it in angry circles. With the two invertebrates distracted, the Gila monster slide forward and bit down on one on the scorpion's legs. With a screech of pain, the arachnid whipped around and began to drive his stinger in the lizard's body again and again. But no matter how many times the scorpion's lethal tail stabbed into the reptiles, the stinger just couldn't pierce the Gila monster's thick skin. With a sharp twist of its head, the Gila monster tore the scorpion's leg free from its body with a squint of white body fluid. The scorpion wailed in pain and stabbed at the lizard with it's claws. One of its pincers managed to skewer the reptile's eyes. The scaly goliath bolted away from the scorpion with a hiss of agony, the scorpion's leg flying from his mouth. A stream of blood was steadily pouring from the Gila monster's eye. Body swollen with air, the reptile skittered into a canyon, leaving behind a blotchy, crimson trail in the sand.

The scorpion chittered in pleasure. As the armored arachnid prepared to give chase, adjusting its gait to compensate for a missing leg, something caught its eye. The mantis. The flying insect set down on a low rock outcrop, arms neatly folded against its body. The scorpion paused. The Gila monster was slow. And wounded. The mantis, though... it was fast and dangerous. And therefore a higher priority. The lizard would be tracked down and finish it off later. The scorpion charged at the mantis with a roar. But before the armored tank of a beast could attack, the tarantula struck. The huge spider, which had simply watched the others fight, pounced, pinning the mantis to the ground. Bellowing and roaring, the mantis desperately batted at the spider with its powerful arms. But it was useless. With a grunt, the great arachnid sunk his fangs into the insect, injecting digestive juices into his helpless prey. The mantid's struggling began to fade immediately. Its insides liquifying, the mantis's large, hypnotic eyes dulled. Going limp, the “Deadly Mantis” was slain. The scorpion paused as the tarantula turned a predatory gaze on it. The other arachnid's venom could be dangerous. But, the armored invertebrate's only weak point was a small, white spot on its throat. Confident of victory, the scorpion rushed at the spider. Shrieking, the armored hunter clamped a viciously strong pincher around one of the tarantula's legs. The spider jerked back in defense, sheering its own leg in half. Discarding the limb, the scorpion advanced on the tarantula, pincers snapping eagerly. Hissing, the spider lunged. The spider brought its long fangs down on the scorpion's exoskeleton. The simply deflected off the near impenetrable armor. Hacking down with obvious desperation, the tarantula realized it was beat. Panicking, the spider leapt from its fellow arachnid. But as it tried to flee, the scorpion grabbed a pair of the spider's legs in a firm grip. It was then that who was the predator and who was the prey became clear. The scorpion's tail stabbed into the tarantula's soft abdomen, the venom sack injecting its lethal contents in the spider. Hissing, the tarantula attempted to pull free from the scorpion's grip, five legs digging into the sand. But the spider began to loose strength. With one final shudder, the giant tarantula fell, dead.

The scorpion released the spider. The lifeless invertebrate dropped into a heap, legs curling in death. The scorpion unleashed a roar of triumph. Stepping over his foe still form, the scorpion sunk its own pincers into the spider, beginning to feed on the dead tarantula. It needed to regain the energy it lost during the brief but violent scuffle.

A scuffle that wasn't over yet.

One, lazy eyes was watching the scorpion. The other eye was held tightly shut, dried blood caked around it. Four powerful limbs heaved a stout body off the ground and carried it forward in a surprising burst of speed. Hearing the sand shifting behind it, the scorpion stopped eating and spun around...

… only to have his head engulfed by the Gila monster's mighty jaws.

The scorpion screeched in agony as its head was crushed. Still holding onto life, the armored arachnid fought back. Its stinger arced into the lizard's skull. It's clawed stabbed at its scaly body and squeezed its robust limbs. But it was all to no effect. The reptile's hide was too thick. Its fight now pouring from its crushed head, the scorpion collapsed. The Gila monster let the death arachnid fall from its maw. The "Black Scorpion" managed a single wet gurgle before it slipped into oblivion.

With its good eye, the Gila Monster surveyed its next three meals. While it had cost it an eye, the lizard now had a feast unlike any other. With all this food, he no longer needed to hunt for a whole lifetime. Forked tongue testing the air, the Gila monster leaned down to take the first bite of last hunt of its life.

Match 8
MEGA SHARK VS. GIANT OCTOPUS VS. MEGA PIRANHA: BIG OCEAN DUEL
Image
_____________________________________________________________

In the blue depths of the ocean, two giants were locked in combat.

Powerful tentacles wrapped around a writhing body, struggling to grip sandpaper-like skin. A monstrous pair of jaws hyperextended, serrated, triangular teeth gnashing together. A horny beak snapped on empty water. Soulless black eyes rolled back in their sockets for protection. Slimy, shapeless flash flashed brilliant red in frustration. A huge caudal him churned the water violently, powered by a muscular tail. This thrashing, combined with jets of water from a great siphon threw up a cloud of sediment from the seabed, the dark mass of debris engulfing the two combatants. As the sediment fell, two super-sized relic of the prehistoric ocean were revealed-

Carcharias megalodon, an ancient shark, and an enormous octopus.

Jaws snapping wildly, the megalodon broke free from the octopus's grip. Piston-like muscles in its tail pumping, the shark speed from the great mollusk's tentacles as they serpentine appendages chased after the retreating fish. Banking, the megalodon charged. Row upon row triangular teeth jutting forward, the shark slammed into the octopus. Its jaws snapped down on a wriggling tentacle, cleanly sheering off the limb in a cloud of dark bodily fluids. The octopus flinched in pain and wrapped its remaining arms around the shark. Lunging forward, the invertebrate pressed itself against the megalodon. The shark arched its back in pain as the cephalopod's beak took a chuck of of its side, hacking through flesh and cartilage. The tentacles squeezed the shark more tightly, threatening to cause internal bleeding, rupturing the fish's organs. But the megalodon- a creature that needed to keep moving to breath- would suffocate long before it bled out. Not that it had any intentions of doing either. As the shark began wriggle under the octopus's tight hold, a stray tentacle grazed the shark' open jaws. The jaws closed instantaneously, biting down into soft flesh. With a silent wail of agony, the octopus releases the shark and jets back, pressing itself against the seabed.

Circling each other warily, the two mega-predators were at a standstill. While the octopus had the edge in pure strength, intelligence, and craftiness, the megalodon's dangerous jaws, maneuverability, speed, and tough skin made its a lethal foe. It was a deadlock, just like when their species had clashed in the ancient past, practically driving both races to extinction. They were the last of their kinds. But that wasn't going to stop them from fighting to the death.

With a flick of its caudal fin, the megalodon darted in, jaws lurching open. The octopus jerked back as the shark snapped at it. Making a broad turn, the shark make another rush at the invertebrate. As the octopus desperately attempts avoid the fish, the megalodon bites down on another of the mollusk's tentacles, teeth easily sawing through it. The enormous cephalopod shudders in agony as it's left with only five of its original eight limbs. The remaining tentacles wrapped around the shark's head vengefully, holding the megalodon's jaws shut. Slithering forward, the octopus's beak chopped down, taking another bloody bite from the shark. Jumping in pain, the megalodon's tail struck the octopus's soft mantle, battering its internal organs. Briefly parlayed by pain, the invertebrate's arms slipped from the shark's rough skin and the megalodon bolted away. Turning sharply like an aquatic jet, the great fish charged again. Rearing up, the octopus unleashes at dark cloud of ink. Moving too fast to change course, the shark plows straight into the mass of chemicals. The ink begun to burn its open mouth and eyes. Shaking its head in pain, the megalodon managed to navigate his way from the ink, but was unsure of where his adversary was. This question was answered for him as a tentacle shot from the ink cloud and wrapped around its tail. The powerful limbs began towing the shark backwards. Panicking, the megalodon went berserk, twisting and thrashing about, the violent struggling dispersing the ink cloud and revealing the octopus. Arching its side as far as possible, the shark just manages to hook the mollusk's mantle on its jagged teeth. Throwing its body in the opposite direction, the megalodon tears away a piece of the octopus, white rings of pain rippling out from the wound. Releasing the fish, the cephalopod jets back, tentacles waving in anger.

Back to square one, the two throwbacks stood off, the megalodon slowing circling the giant octopus, who was constantly repositioning itself to face the prowling fish. A great swarm of normal-sized shark had already gathered, attracted by the blood and struggling. But none of the predators dared attack now. Instead, they would wait for the battle to end and fest on the corpse of the loser. O loser as the current condition of both combatants suggested.

But something far more sinister was approaching.

Both the megalodon and the octopus froze in shock as overpowering vibration swept over them. Quickly regaining their senses, the two rivals turned to face the deep, ignoring each other in favor of the new arrival. To create such powerful vibrations, this beast would have to be vast, making both of them look minuscule.

Or it was an equally huge swarm of huge creatures.

Racing from the black depths of the sea came a hoard of voracious carnivores, each desperate to fulfill their endless appetite. As the first wave of these predators cleared the deep, more and more emerged from the darkness to replace them. As the end of this great swarm revealed themselves, both the megalodon and the octopus knew they were doomed. They could flee, but the swarm would simply overtake them. After all, who could outrun a school of piranhas? Especially when they a mutant strain of extinct piranha.

Teeth snapping in gnawing hunger, the piranhas struck.

The octopus thrashed madly as the fish began devouring it from the tentacles down, his limbs disappearing so fast even the greatest of magician would be impressed. The megalodon churning the ocean erratically as the piranhas chewed through its thick hide. The two giants had never felt such pain! The piranhas continued to the octopus alive, done with the tentacles by now and moving on to the mantle. The shark was already dead, disemboweled and squirming with piranhas. The octopus managed to let loose one last blast of ink before it vanished under a mass of piranha.

In less than a minute the megalodon and the octopus were gone. But the piranha didn't stop there. They were still hungry. So they began to eat each other.

Turning the ocean a sickening crimson hue, the genetically altered fish turned on one another. The fish spun in circle, eating at each other's tails, forming a twisted Ouroboros. The piranha were the perfect killing machines. Too perfect in fact. Their hunger and viciousness was so intense that the were doomed to eventually destroy themselves, as they were doing now. By the time the feeding frenzy ended, only a few whole fish were left to nibble weakly at their own innards. The sharks that had been spared from the violence moved in to begin feeding.

In one day, one event, three aquatic forces of destruction had been wiped out. Was it only by chance that these three races had met? Or was it fate? Or was it simply proof that Mother Earth had Her own ways of dealing with those who didn't belong in Her delicate web of life.

Whatever the case, the three great predators that had shortly ruled the ocean were gone and the world as a whole could now breath a sigh of relief...

...at least until another mutant monster or prehistoric beast or illegal genetic experiment was unleashed upon the world. Sometimes one had to wonder why Mother Earth simply didn't destroy Mankind and save Herself the trouble later.

ANGUIRUS VS. EBIRAH: CLASH OF THE CARAPACED
By atarkosaurusrex
Edited by Hayes A. Jones
Image
_____________________________________________________________

Monster Island… home to the creatures known as daikaiju, or giant monsters.

Including an especially stubborn one known as Anguirus.

He was a large brute, a giant ankylosaur. His most outstanding feature was a carapace covered in ivory spines. The saurian was wandering around the jungles, becoming especially hungry. Hunting was hard for such a enormous beast. He finally wandered onto the beach. He thought it would be a good place to rest. Eyes growing heavy, he laid down by the shore….

His hard eyes opened almost immediately. Something wasn’t right. Anguirus rose to his feet and looked into the calm waters…

A red creature burst from the wet sand, lunging at him. Anguirus dodged the animal and glared back at his attacker. It was a crab-like sea monster, a crustacean behemoth, its red armor glinting in the sun. The scarlet lobster had claws twice the size of boulders. Ebirah roared a challenge and prepared to battle.

Anguirus snarled back at the monster crab. He roared in acceptance of the battle.

Ebirah let loose a battle cry and charged the shelled saurian. Anguirus dodged the attack and flipped Ebirah on his back. The ankylosaur began to slam on Ebirah's underbelly…..

CRACK!

Ebirah shrieked in pain and swiped Anguirus off his belly with one great claw. Anguirus fell on his side, grunting in pain. Ebirah shrieked in triumph and began slamming on Anguirus’s stomach with his pincers. The spiny saurian cried out in pain, then saw the crack where he had broke the lobster's under armor.

Anguirus seized his chance.

He stabbed into the breech with his nasal horn and heaved up, tearing some armor off.

RRRIIIIIIPPPP!

Ebirah screamed in pain and horror. His underbelly was bleeding severely! The overgrown crab swiped at Anguirus, but the saurian just grasped the claw and threw Ebirah into the water.

Ebirah groaned. Anguirus snorted in disgust. If the creature didn’t want pain, then why attack him?

Ebirah looked out into the ocean. Maybe, he would have an advantage in the water….

Too late. Anguirus bit Ebirah's tail and slammed him on the sand. Ebirah screamed and then looked back at Anguirus. The dinosaur snorted at the crustacean. He charged Ebirah and slammed his tail into Ebirah's face. He felt the wet impact of his tail and the lobster's head….

Something grasped his leg.

The next thing Anguirus knew, he was sailing through the air like a rag doll.

Ebirah shrieked in amusement. He swam out by Anguirus and jabbed at the saurian’s gut.
Anguirus cried out. He was in pain. In revenge, Anguirus grabbed Ebirah's claw and tore it off!

Ebirah squealed in agony. His claw was gone….. again.

With Ebirah distracted, Anguirus bit the lobsters other claw and started dragging him back to the shore. When he was a good twenty meters away, he threw Ebirah and did something he rarely ever did.

He dug.

Ebirah fell on down the shore hard. He looked up. Where was his enemy? He walked around, looking for the saurian. He felt the ground beneath him shift and looked down…

Anguirus burst from the ground. Clenching his maw around Ebirah's throat, he tore off his neck armor.

Ebirah screamed. He looked up and grabbed Anguirus’s ankle, dragging him forward and throwing him into the jungle.

Anguirus cried out as he landed in the thick foliage. The quadruped saw the lobster, grasped his claw and flipped him over. Ebirah got up and countered with a punch to the saurian’s gut. They wrestled with each other, rolling and tumbling, until they came to a volcano.

Anguirus nearly lost his balance. He looked in the volcano. The lava was scalding hot on his scaly skin even from here. Anguirus looked forward and saw Ebirah close in on him. Ebirah tried to swipe at Anguirus, but the saurian ducked under the claw. Ebirah fell in the volcano, thrown off balance, but managed to grab Anguirus’s leg and began to drag the ankylosaur down...

Anguirus dug his claws into the obsidian, being pulled down slowly. He grasped the edge of the volcano, gritting his teeth.

Anguirus had to do something. So... he did.

The saurian used the last of his strength and preformed a daring front flip, punching Ebirah's now vulnerable neck.

Ebirah let go and Anguirus manged to sink his claws into the edge of the volcano.

The behemoth crustacean fell, screeching in horror. Clinging desperately to the earth he had so missed in the last few moments, Anguirus looked down as Ebirah fell.

He turned his head away just as soon. The sight of Ebirah sizzling up was too much for even him.

Victorious, Anguirus walked down to the beach and saw Ebirah's arm. It had washed ashore! Anguirus ran over to the limb. He was starving! The quadruped tore off the armor and bit off a chunk of the meat. Conical teeth flashed in a grin.

It was delicious.

Match 9
DESTOROYAH VS. SPACEGODZILLA: DEATH'S FAVORITES
Image
_____________________________________________________________

The moonlit city of Hong Kong was about to become a battlefield. Usually such great cities hosted struggles between the giants who protect Earth and the giants who wish to destroy it. But not this time. On this particular night, two great evils would clash, one of this world and one from the stars.

This wouldn't be a battle to decide Earth's fate. It was a battle to decide Earth's executioner.

All at once, the numerous people walking the streets collapsed, violet energies crackling across their thrashing forms. Clothes dissolved and flesh melted away staining the concrete. In a single moment, hundreds of men, women, and children were skeletonized, dead in an instant. Given sufficient substance by the grim massacre, billions of microscopic killers gather, forming Death incarnate with roar of fire. From a blinding could of smoke, a living reaper emerged in the mist of the city. Emitting a chilling shriek of delight at all the lives it had stolen, Destoroyah announced its sinister presence. Soulless eyes glowering with hate for the world in general, the Precambrian horror slashed a purple ray of micro-oxygen across the black skyline, announcing the beginning of its reign of terror.

It was a reign that wouldn't go unopposed.

Destoroyah's shrieking ceased when another cackle answered its own. Descending from the silver clouds, a saurian demon appeared. Crystalline form shimmering with cosmic power, SpaceGodzilla, black child of the black hole, eyed his newfound competition with undisguised contempt. The bizarre mirror image of Godzilla hovered downward to float loftily above Destoroyah, as if suggesting the order of things, a mix of humor and deadly seriousness lurking beneath his glowing eyes. Two yellow, inhuman eyes cut through the cool night air, flaring with fury at the mocking screech SpaceGodzilla spat. Destoroyah's twin pair of wings rose, the collective lifeform flexing its claws. It would enjoy mutilating this pompous thing's remains. SpaceGodzilla simply smirked at this motion. There was no doubt in the clone's mind who was going to win. It was just a matter of how long he decided to draw the fight out.

And so began the duel between the two greatest enemies of life on Earth.

With one great sweep of its satanic wings, Destoroyah took to the air, unleashing a hellish scream. SpaceGodzilla let loose his own cry and fired a Corona Beam from his tusked maw. The sinuous spear of cosmic might cut a looping path into the dark skyline before harpooning itself into Destoroyah's blood red carapace. SpaceGodzilla was shocked to see the mutated super-colony simply shrug off the attack with an irritated hiss and continue to barrel at him. Using the green tongues of telekinetic energy seeping from his shoulder crystals, the space saurian willed himself to twist around Destoroyah as the beast made a vicious swipe at him with its claws. SpaceGodzilla- now directly behind his adversary- gave a mocking bellow and fired a Corona Beam pointblank into Destoroyah's neck. The potent projectile struck home with a small geyser of yellow blood. Destoroyah threw back its head with a howl of pain, much to SpaceGodzilla's delight. But the sadistic beast's smirk soon became an open-mouthed gape when the crescent-shaped claw that tipped Destoroyah's segmented tail gripped his throat. With a shriek, the Precambrian predator dove, SpaceGodzilla in tow, his telekinesis easily broken. As the two dealers of death approached the ground, Destoroyah pulled up sharply and released SpaceGodzilla. The crystalline reptile slammed into the city street below with a distressed screech.

As the cosmic juggernaut rose to his feet, a micro-oxygen ray exploded against his hide. The lavender beam burned dully, but SpaceGodzilla was otherwise unharmed, his super regenerative ability already nearly done knitting the damage back together. Against most other creatures, the micro-oxygen would eat away at flesh, but being a creature from the black void of space, SpaceGodzilla was unaffected. Luminous eyes narrowed in fury, the cosmic clone watched as Destoroyah circled overhead. The towering invertebrate fired another micro-oxygen ray. SpaceGodzilla quickly summoned a crystal barrier with a hot breathe of anger. The violet beam bounced harmlessly off the shield. Snarling, Destoroyah banked and angled itself downward, soaring straight towards SpaceGodzilla. The space leviathan's eyes widened in surprise as Destoroyah swooped lower and lower, gaining speed. Standing strong and vocalizing his defiance with a horse roar, SpaceGodzilla launched a barrage of Corona Beams, the erratic streaks of energy all spinning and twirling towards the charging form of Destoroyah. The cosmic projectiles punctured the super-colony's armored body with a chorus of wet squeals, showering the city with yellow blood. But the demonic creature kept coming, bringing both his clawed feet forward and smashing them into SpaceGodzilla's chest. Wailing in agony, the dark clone stumbled back, feeling crystal bones snap under the devastating blow. The crystalline terror was suddenly bowled over by one savage strike from Destoroyah's claws. Toppling into a skyscraper, SpaceGodzilla collapsed, the human structure crumbling under his great girth.

For the first time in his horrid life, SpaceGodzilla felt helpless. Never before had the deep space demon meet a beast of such brutality and endurance!

An unquenchable rage boiling in his chest, SpaceGodzilla lashed out with his tail, its sharp tip piercing Destoroyah's breast and plunging deep into its chest cavity. The Precambrian powerhouse fell back with a gush of yellow blood from its fierce jaws. Swiftly rising to his feet with the help of his telekinesis, SpaceGodzilla fired a volley of Corona Beams. Yellow lifeblood sprayed into the air as Destoroyah's carapace was fileted, laid open by cosmic destruction, and its wings shredded. SpaceGodzilla cackled as he was speckled by his foe's blood. Gurgling on his own blood, Destoroyah grabbed the space saurian's tail, which was still buried in its chest. Cranial horn bursting to life with cutting energies, the collective giant swung its head down, cleaving SpaceGodzilla's tail in half. The crystalline tyrant gave a pained screeched as his dark blood stained the street. Leaping up with a bet of its ragged wings, Destoroyah slashed at SpaceGodzilla with its horn, still buzzing with power. The crimson energy blade sliced a shoulder crystal in half and left a long, cauterized laceration across the clone's chest. With one of his major energy conductors gone and his regeneration filing to heal the wounds caused by Destoroyah's laser horn, SpaceGodzilla was beginning to panic. Unleashing a swarm of Corona Beams, the crystalline goliath forced Destoroyah back. Rising into the night sky, SpaceGodzilla used almost all his remaining energy to erect a crystal forest. Lifting the translucent structures into the air like a league of lien missiles, the space saurian willed the crystals to surround Destoroyah from all angles. The super-colony hissed suspiciously and shrieked at the army of now inanimate objects.

SpaceGodzilla grinned triumphantly.

The crystals raced forward like javelins. The bulky projectiles punched through Destroyah's carapace like paper, yellow blood exploding out from the demonic creature. SpaceGodzilla cackled as the collective being was reduced to a mangled heap of red armor and yellow innards. With a burst of white vapor, Destoroyah was gone.

Floating to back to the ground, SpaceGodzilla bellowed in victory. He had won!

Or had he?

Amassing behind the gloating clone, what remained of a once almost endless population of microscopic creatures gathered, forming a beaten and scrawny- but still living- Destoroyah. With its yellow eyes smoldering with hate and its mouth pulled into a terrible grimace, the floral pattern of the Precambrian best's opened. The churning energies within Destoroyah's core hummed ominously, alerting SpaceGodzilla that the battle wasn't done yet. As the cosmic horror wiped around, Destoroyah unleashed its ultimate weapon-

The Wave-Motion Ray.

A column of orange power exploded from Destoroyah's chest. The roaring beam struck SpaceGodzilla with a tremendous boom, driving straight through the crystalline giant's body and emerging from his back. The beam kept going, destroying countless buildings as it thunder through the city. The devastating ray finally stopped, leaving a seemingly endless, solid path of destruction in front of Destoroyah- a path that vaporized SpaceGodzilla black heart. The dark shadow of Godzilla shuddered once, and then dissolved, dissipating into millions of particle that drifted lazily into the sky, bound for space. As the last of these strangely beautiful beads of light disappeared into the clouds, Destoroyah gave a single shriek, as if to claim the battle as its victory. The Earth was ow its and its alone to destroy.

But there were always those who wanted to protect it.

An unearthly roar answered Destoroyah's cackle. Marching all the way from monster island, Godzilla, King of the Monsters himself, appeared. The nuclear saurian was a truly majestic sight, as breathtaking as Destoroyah was horrifying. Godzilla was in many ways the opposite of his “son”, SpaceGodzilla. But there was one definite trait they shared- both were extremely powerful. Lips curled in challenge, the atomic behemoth took a battle-ready pose.

Eyes burning with the desire to kill once again, Destoroyah did the same.

Match 10
OGRA VS. GAPPA: PARENTAL CLASH
Image
_____________________________________________________________

Sitting in the seemingly endless waters of the Pacific Ocean, the island was totally isolated. It was rather small, boasting no large wildlife. Besides the occasional flock of passing seabirds, its only inhabitants were a small population of beach-going crabs, a variety of insects and arachnids, and a few small fish. Its vegetation was lush and green, if a bit sparse. Overall, it was a lonely little place, but very peaceful.

And therefore, a perfect place to raise a baby sea monster, thought an oceanic giantess.

Well, it wasn't really a thought. It was more like a very strong idea. She was smart, brilliant really, by reptilian standards, but not quite sentient. Even if she wasn't fully self-aware, she more than made up for it in sheer size and strength. At an enormous 200 feet tall, she didn't need to flash a diploma to make any creature think twice before engaging her.

As she rose from the ocean as silently as the sea spirit she was named for, it became crystal clear why.

A mountain of an animal, she towered over almost all of Creation. Her wet, amphibious skin glistened, green warts and bumps reflecting light at odd angles. Even on the brightest of days, her crimson eyes glowed like the Devil's, glowering with both anger at the world for changing so rapidly around her and an endless sorrow for the loss of her kind. She and her infant son were all that remained of their ancient species.

Even if their legacy was destined to end, doomed to die with them, Ogra, the aquatic behemoth that had singled-handedly crushed London, was determined to drag out that legacy as long as possible.

And that meant having a proper home where she and her so, her beloved Gorgo, could live in isolation, away from the human plague that had infested the Earth. Gorgo was currently asleep on the sea bed just off the island. After tenderly uncurled herself from around him, Ogra quickly surfaced, intent on claiming this place as theirs.

Unfortunately, she was not the only larger-than-life parent here.

As Ogra stomped ashore, saurian feet sinking deeply into the wet sand, duel screeches rand out from high above her. The marine titan angled her fearsome head upwards, thick neck straining, to intercept a rather odd sight.

Descending from the sky were two more relics from a time when gigantic reptiles ruled the world; a mated pair with an infant if Ogra's olfactory sense hadn't failed her. The two beasts just didn't seem... right, somehow. Not only was each massive enough to match Ogra's stature- size belaying their winged flight- but they were simply bizarre. Ignoring the feathered wings and beak, the strange creatures seemed to be vaguely dinosaurian. And to boot, they had skin like hers- slimy and toad-like.

These two chimeras of distinctly avian, reptilian, and amphibian features were Gappas, the legendary triphibians of the South Pacific.

Ogra wasn't sure what to feel at the arrival of the Gappa. As the mix-and-match giants landed, a feeling of kinship- for being fellow throwbacks- and an unimaginable rage- for their continued possession of a mate where she had none- battled within her. One of the Gappa- the female she assumed for its slightly larger size- stepped forward. Spreading her wings and puffing up her narrow chest, the she-monster threw back her head in a possessive shriek. Ogra narrowed her blood-red eyes. Were these monstrosities trying to claim her island?

Rage quickly slaying any sense of fellowship for the two freaks, Ogra let loose a tremendous, trumpeting bellow and charged.

The female Gappa backpedaled in surprise, not expecting such a bold retort. Ogra bowled her over with a swipe of her massive claws. As his mate was toppled with a pained scream, the male Gappa hopped back with a sweep of his wings, Ogra's claws parting the air where he stood only a second before. Determined to avenge his partner, the triphibian fired a streak of thermal energy from his maw. The bluish ray of heat struck Ogra's approaching form with a sudden puff of steam, a loud sizzling, and a wail. Ogra stopped in her tracks. The hot beam had done no real damage, her thick hide and mucus coating shielding her, but a large patch of her skin was now dray and itchy. Ogra growled softy in self-concern. The time she could spend on land was already limited and the fact these things had heat-based oral weapon certainly didn't help things. She'd have to end this fight quickly and then-

The marine mountain's tactical assessment was cut short when the female Gappa chomped down on her tail.

Emitting a guttural cry of shock and pain, Ogra whipped around, forcefully yanking her tail from the Gappa's beak-like jaws. Lips curling to reveal her array of needle-like fangs, the ancient sea monster kicked in the she-giant's face with an angry smile. Steam erupted from her shoulder, a corresponding scream rising in her throat. The male Gappa had blasted her again. Not willing to turn her back on the female again, Ogra lashed out with her tail, knocking the winged chimera's legs from underneath it. The male tried to rise and assist his mate, but Ogra's heavy tail smashing his face back into the sand, slamming down on his crested cranium again and again. Confident that he could keep the male down, Ogra wrapped her great claws around the females Gappa's skull as she rose from the ground. Putting a firm squeeze on the triphibian's oddly-shaped head, the aquatic beast bit into the Gappa's shoulder. Shaking her head vigorously, she tore into the female's flesh, blood and shredded tissue filling her mouth, tail still playing a savage beat on the male's skull. Both prehistoric throwbacks were wailing in agony. But as she savaged her female foe, Ogra felt her tail strike not a bloodied scalp, but sand. The muffed grunt and wide-eyed expression that struck the amphibious giant's face could be loosely translated into, Oh crap...A dull pain seeped into her back, water fleeing her skin like bees swarming from a hive, loudly and aggressively. Violently throwing the female to the ground, Ogra wheeled around to face the male Gappa, clawing swinging out to split flesh. But all her organic scythes met was empty air. The male had easily ducked under her blind swipe. Before she could make another try at him, Ogra's keen ears heard sand shift behind her. The female was back in the game. Once again, Ogra's thoughts were obvious- Shit. A blue ray scolded her thick skin, drying it out instantly. Spinning back around, the oceanic titan lunged to attacked the female Gappa with a deafening trumpet. That motion was brought to an abrupt end when another heat ray- courtesy of the male- licked up the back of her muscular neck. The enormous amphibian hissed in a mixture of pain- as she was beginning to feel the effect of the beams- and realization. She was trapped. And dehydrated.

And absolutely furious.

Making a wind turn towards the male Gappa- her tail smashing the female to the ground in the process- Ogra rushing at the bewildered chimera and tackled him. They crashed onto the beach together with a dull thud, the male trapped beneath Ogra's girth. Before the monstrous hybrid could regain his senses, an air-shaking roar assaulted his ears and a tremendous force slammed into the side of his head. The pinned beast wailed in agony, vaguely aware that hos blood now freckled Ogra's body. Baring her fangs, Ogra raked her great claws across the male's face, carving crimson furrows into it. The female had righted herself and now rushed to the aide of her counterpart, molten powers boiling in her throat. But Ogra simply swatted her away with a flick of her free hand, the Gappa's ray searing the sky as she fell.

Ogra would have liked nothing more than to continue bludgeoning the mix-and-match creatures, but she had to rehydrate herself. With that in mind, the sea giantess brought two closed fist down into the male Gappa's face- a loving goodbye if there ever was one- and rose from atop the bloody beast. Making sure to deliver a good kick to the female's ribs as she stomped down the beach, Ogra entered the surf and dove into the ocean with a huge splash!

The Gappas slowly heaved themselves to their feet. Leaning against each other for support, the two chimeras glowed in victory. Well, they basked in it the best the could anyway. They had beat Ogra. Well, not really beat. They at least outlasted the underwater monster. Either way, the island was theirs. They could follow Ogra into the sea, being masters of land, sky, and sea, but why challenge the physical juggernaut in her own element? A prideless victory was enough for them. Touching beaks, the Gappas spread their wings and took to the air, wounds still raw and tender. As the two triphibians flew lopsidedly towards the tiny island they had left their chick on, two crimson orbs appeared beneath the surface of the sea.

It was Ogra.

Watching the Gappas, the marine behemoth snarled, bubbles rising from her mouth. This wasn't a day she would soon forget. The Gappas had taken what was rightfully hers. And she planned to take it back. But not now. She was still too weak, her skin cracked and sore. She would rest. And recover. Until the day came when she could make the Gappas pay, she would stay with her son. Parenting came first, revenge second.

Tearing her smoldering eyes from the vanishing forms of the Gappas, Ogra began her slow descent to the seabed and her awaiting Gorgo.
