As much as I would love to do one properly, theres no way to my knowledge to extend the snout of the Heisei Godzilla head unless if your a professional in model making. And that is something I am far from being.

If all goes to plan, it will be a figure of a creation of Mine. Shin Godzilla.


I would rather have my first custom be something fan made then try and re-create something from the films and make it look awful.

MA Shin Godzilla Update.

The next step is to cut the MA spines off and replace them with the ones pictured above. Since the replacement spines are hollow it gave me the chance to get a refernence of where they will eventually go.

With the help of my wonderful uncle, the original spines of the Monsterarts Godzilla were cut off ( OH THE HORROR ) .
I learnt quite a bit about the MA spines while my uncle was cutting them off. They are translucent plastic that was covered in clay for extra thickness.

Very clever way to prevent any major damage.

And so what you see is the result of a few hours spent this evening to glue on the spines you see now. However, the Super Glue used almost cost me the articulation in the left thigh. The stuff was so dam runny it trickled down the side and got into the gap covering the joint. It was a fight to get it moving again before setting rock solid. While I stopped that from happening parts of that thigh now have GLUE MARKS T_T. Its a bit of an eye sore ...But I will manage.

So after another hour of trimming the spines and making sure they stuck tightly to the body, the replacement was complete. Very happy with the end result dispite the plunders it took to get this far. (Stupid glue ..)

At that moment I decided to get part of the tail back in ... Jesus.H.Christ ...That ball joint would not have it ... AT ALL. I actually had to tap it against the table to push it in and even that took awhile.

And they say these figures are fragile, HELL NO. They are tough bastards ( minus KG's Wing joint)

This is the last you will see of this custom til I get the next set of parts ready (Spikes)

You did a great job with the spikes. Will they remain that way, or be painted?

I was thinking about painting them, but after looking at the finished result, are fine as they are. Plus they look like glass ... which is very fitting considering Shin Godzilla is basicly Godzilla, just transformed shlightly due to being hit by a second atomic bomb. Hence the head, arm, leg and tail spikes made from excess radiation ...

He just sent me the first sketch showing how the it will scale with other figures.

One of the things I noticed on the SHMA Godzilla 1994's instructions was that the First edition has those translucent spines due to the breath effect being included. I'd be interested to know if the Second Edition Godzilla 1994 has translucent fins as well.
