Hoagie, Hero, or Sub?

Postby Legionmaster » Sat Jul 24, 2010 9:11 am

My girlfriend insists that they are subs, when in fact they are hoagies. Some are just freaks and call them heroes. So, which are you? Correct, incorrect, or a freak?

Well, here in the Midwest we have Subs, then we have Hoagies. Basically the Hoagies have more like burger or steak on them, while the Subs are deli meats. Don't think I've heard of them being called Heroes though.

Up here in the Pacific Northwest, we call them Subs. You hardly ever hear about Hoagies, and I've never even heard of a "Hero" like that before.

I've heard "Hero" before but they are usually associated with a really big sub.

I remember when they got really pompous in the nineties and called their subs "Subsandwiches"

They're called subs down here, but I've heard hoagie. A big ass sandwhich is a big ass sandwhich.

Maybe hoagies are just a mid-Atlantic thing. Go Pennsylvania!

I've heard of them being called Grinders also, Vega. So many names for a sandwich.
If I remember correctly some places on Man vs. Food name them differently also. Sheesh.
