If They Were Mechs

Post by Lain Of The Wired »

This mecha thread is your thoughts and ideas on if the JDF made more mechs resembling Toho kaiju, what would they be like, their powers, how would they look, what do YOU think?

I've always liked the idea of a Mechakumonga. It'd basically be a giant, spider-shaped tank, covered with the same armor as Heisei Mechagodzilla so it can stand up to enemy beam weapons. Like the organic Kumonga, its main weapon would be a 'mouth' cannon that fires some sort of artificial webbing. This is used to blind and immobilize kaiju, after which it bombards them with the retractable maser cannon and missile launchers housed in its back. For close-quarter fighting, its front set of legs are equipped with retractable diamond-tipped blades, which it jabs at the enemy like spears.

^ Nice

How about a Mecha-Mothra Larva, kind of an assault train type mech.

Mecha Rodan, an extreme speed jet mech

^ Awesome. And yeah, Mechakumonga was inspired by the All-Terraintula. I'd forgotten it had the Anti-Godzilla-Beam-Plating, though, so that's kind of a weird coincidence.

So in that pic from the Kiryu manga, who's all in there

I see in the top...

Mecha Kumonga, Mecha Gorosaurus, Mecha Baragon, but I don't know what's the one in the back...

And in the bottom pic I see...

Mecha Kamoebas, Mecha Gaira, Mecha Varan, I think either Mecha Ganimes or Ebirah, but I don't know what's the thing holding the rock or the other thing beside of it...

Does anyone else know?

A mechaTitanosaurus would be interesting. Rather than a fan tail, the tail would end in a wind machine that could propel it through water or blow devastating winds on land. It would fire a maser beam from the palm of each hand, and fire a pulse cannon from the mouth.

A MechaKamacura could also work. The straight arm spike could be a drill, or a missile that can be shot off as a weapon of last resort.

I would like to see Mecha Anguirus, Mecha Baragon, Mecha Varan, Mecha Rodan, Mecha Gorosaurus, and Mecha Gamera.
Anyone like the idea of steampunk mechs and nanobot formed mechs? I could see a Nanobot formed Mecha Destoroyah.

A nanomech Destroyah would be perfect. We're working on modular robots that can combine and build together right now, so it's possible we could have nanobot robots at some point in our future.

I designed Mecha Anguirus when I was a teenager, in the style of the 70's Mechagodzilla. However, if I designed him now, I'd model him after the three-banded armadillo or a Bakugan Battle Brawler, in order to roll into a perfect (spiked) ball. Also, the back spikes would be missiles.

Which instantly sheds 3/4 of its armor plating and most of its weaponry. ;)

And sounds just like Mecha Rodan.

I remember as a kid, I made a drawing that was a cross between Hedorah and the T-1000 that I oh so creatively called "Liquid Mecha-Hedorah".

Mecha-Biollante: a hulking mass of of impenetrable armor, telescoping tendrils (some with teeth that come off into the enemies flesh like fiber glass and burrow into muscle tissue releasing a toxin derived from nightshade only 100 times more deadly and others which are pointed with razor sharp skewers which can also detach and explode), and the same beam reflecting abilities as Super X-2 from it's mouth but also able to fire a supercharged particle beam with anti-matter properties. It could also unleash a liquid similar to the nano metal in City On The Edge Of Battle that could harden and slow a kaiju down while it unleashed it's arsenal. Heat seeking super missiles would fire out of it's back and it would also have a chest laser like MG 74' Probably be an alien designed mech. Thought I'd go all in on this one lol
