Offical Toho/Godzilla Movie Ideas Topic 2.0

Postby Hellspawn28 » Mon Sep 06, 2010 6:11 pm

This is for people to post their ideas about the next Godzilla/Toho film.

Im going to set aside some rules so this doesnt become spamamation:

1) Post the title of the film and a well detailed synopsis. Not one line, "Godzilla vs...". At least 3 lines of detail.

2) You can discuss how you would design the film, the tone. All that stuff. [added 7/26/09]

2) For you frequent posters: Post at most twice a week. And if your second post in the week, it better be more then one movie idea. I will delete the post and movie the film idea to your most frequent post.

3) You can comment, critisize, or critque an idea freely. Just lets not get insult...

And obvious, not even numbered...No spamming or flame baiting/wars.

Recreating the original topic from SSj4G on the old TK forums. The topic said its all, post your idea for a future Godzilla or Toho movie. Make sure to read the rules of this thread before making a post.

What about a sequel and a prequel to G2K? Or maybe explaining that Godzilla vs. Megaguiras is a sequel to G2K, even though it isn't.

My idea on another DAM or FW type of movie.

Title: All Monsters Attack Directive (Yes my idea is losely based on the original DAM movie)
Monsters: Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Rodan, Baragon, Varan, Gaira, Sanda, Gorosaurus, Clover (The monster from Cloverfield appears as a guest character), Godzilla Junior, Dagahra, Gigan, Mechagodzilla, and Mammon (A original monster).

Story: In the year 2012, humanity begins to count down to the new year (2013) and believe nothing will go wrong. But then a Alien race known as the Black Hole Aliens has come to Earth to swallow the entire human race. They also plan to awaken a monster known as Mammon who is known to be "Four horsemen of the Apocalypse" that has been trap alway inside the Earth for thousands of years ago. The Black Hole Aliens also send out their own monsters (Dagahra, King Ghidorah, Gigan, and Mechagodzilla) to attack the Earth to keep the Earth's military forces busy as they try to awaken Mammon, and swallow the entire human race. Mankind manages to gain control of the Earth monsters, and use them to stop The Black Hole Aliens and Mammon.

The run time for the movie will be 160 mins, and unlike Final Wars the movie has enough screen time for the humans & monsters.

Since the old topic was stickied, I'll stickey this one as well. So let me do that...

My Godzilla Movie
(This was an old idea I once had.)

- I've thought about a movie done in the style of All Monsters Attack/Godzilla's Revenge - where Godzilla doesn't exist in that world and the characters know him through his movies. It would start with a young boy (around the ages of 4-6) and his father watching Godzilla vs. Megalon on television. They cheer at the scenes where Jet Jaguar airlifts Godzilla out of a ring of fire, Gigan retreats, Godzilla does his dropkick on Megalon. The boy exclaims to his father that one day he'll make a Godzilla movie. A montage of scenes would then flash - Godzilla battling Mothra in Mothra vs. Godzilla, Godzilla and Rodan teaming up on King Ghidorah in Astro Monster, Godzilla grappling with Ebirah in Sea Monster, Mechagodzilla's All-Out Assault in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla frying Hedorah in Godzilla vs. Hedorah - that would take us to 1998. The boy and his father find themselves in a theater, watching GODZILLA. The boy is disappointed when he sees the creature in the movie. But as he leaves he hears a passer-by say, "at least it wasn't as stupid as the guy in a rubber suit". His friend agrees, "yeah, remember when the old Godzilla actually flew? That was so stupid". To cheer him up, the boy's father takes him to Blockbuster to real a Japanese Godzilla movie. But the boy, still stinging from the words of the passer-by, is reluctant. However, he notices a Godzilla movie he hadn't seen before - Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. Curious, he chooses that one. At home, the boy is blown away by the movie's superior special effects and more dangerous portrayal of Godzilla (his father finds the movie boring). The snark against the older Godzilla movies is shoved to the back of his head.

- The years pass and the boy grows up. Two years later, he and his father go to watch Godzilla 2000. He falls in love with it. However, six months later, his father would die in an automobile accident. In anger, he throws aways his Godzilla movies. His mother decides to box them up and take them to the attic. The child grows - he makes friends, goes through Elementary, Middle, and High School, he learns about the world, he kisses a girl, in short, he grows up. When he sees another young child playing with a Godzilla toy, he chuckles to himself about it ("those movies are so bad"). His love for Godzilla has long gone, replaced with a new antagonism for Godzilla and all his films. The toys he used to own disappear from him shelves. The old Godzilla movies rest in the attic - long forgotten. The boy grows up into a young man with dreams of becoming a movie director. He graduates High School and leaves home to pursue his profession.

- Cut to the modern day. The boy has grown into a man, an up-and-coming Hollywood director with a couple modest hits under his belt. But he's aching to try something new. Prior to this time, the studio he works for has already acquired the film rights from Toho Studios for Godzilla. Unfortunately no big name director will take it on. Godzilla no longer has the merchandizing power he once used to. Finally, the studio offers to take the project to our hero as a last resort. Our hero is contacted and meets with several of the studio executives. At first he resists what seems to be a lost cause ("Godzilla's old news, let's move on"), but is goaded into it with the promise that if he can make Godzilla a modern success again, he'd be the most sought-after new filmmaker in Hollywood. He eventually agrees. At a press release, he mentions that he'll breathe new life into the franchise. In that release he condemns the older Showa movies, and says that the '90s Godzilla films are the ones that give him the hope that a good Godzilla movie can be done.

- The meat of the second act follows the man as he goes through the next couple years in making the movie. He goes through a variety of screenplays and rejects several that throwback to the earlier Showa films and eventually decides on a shot-for-shot remake of Godzilla: King of the Monsters ("what Godzilla needs is a truly dark and serious film that will give him credibility"). He meets other characters, the film would delve into the nature of Godzilla's popularity in modern times, the history of Godzilla, the Showa vs. Heisei vs. Millennium debate, the GMK/GFW debates, the men and who'd worked on past Godzilla films, GINO and where it went wrong, etc. Basically, it would be about him rediscovering his love for Godzilla and remembering that it was the older Godzilla movies that made him want to become a filmmaker in the past. He begins to rediscover his love for the old Godzilla titles and reconnect with the happy times when he and his deceased father would watch them. His changing attitudes reflect on the development of the movie, and he begins to order changes to the script so that it reflects a more late '60s/'70s Showa-esque tone, as opposed to the Godzilla/Heisei/Millennium-esque tone he'd insisted on.

- The film then goes on with the movie completed (I'm not telling the story) and ready to release in the summer. He comes home for Christmas and talks to his older mother about how the movie will soon premiere. His mother is reminded of the old Godzilla movies she'd stored away. Late that night, he watches Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and decides he doesn't care for it. A few months later he appears at the movie's opening night. Godzilla is now in the mainstream again and the movie's turned out quite a crowd. The movie premieres and the audience is taken with the heroic portrayal of Godzilla (as opposed to the villain he was originally going to be) and cheers the movies writing, special effects, score, and so forth. The film is a success and a sequel is immediately announced. Godzilla has become a success again. Even the former two bystanders who'd condemned the earlier Godzilla movies now say that the movie is good.

- The film bookends with the man watching his old VHS tape of Godzilla vs. Megalon in his old room, just as he did as a child.

(It's a short synopsis, but hey - there it is. I think you can see where I was going with it.)

Godzilla vs Dracula

Nuclear material has been leaking into an underground river, and some biologist go to see how bad the damage to wildlife is. They enter a cave and start taking samples. One of the scientist is bitten by a larger than normal bat while trying to capture it, and the scientist slowly begins to change. Meanwhile, an underwater mining expedition is blasting near a canyon and the blast wake Godzilla. The King of the Monsters rises from the canyon, destroying the platform, and moves toward Japan.

The bitten scientist goes back home, but ends up attacking people at night. The police are baffled by the "bloodless murders." Godzill appears on shore, then, making matters worse. The army manages to get a sample of Godzilla's blood, and sends it to the biologist, hoping they can find some way to poison Godzilla. As they work at night, the bitten scientist tries to hold off his cravings, but attack his colleauge. She escapes, and the desperately hungry scientist downs Godzilla's blood. It accelerates and furthers his changes, making him more like a giant bat than man.

Godzilla has a brief conflict with the smaller man bat. The man bat gets some blood from Godzilla before being forced to retreat, making him even larger and stronger. The female scientist tries to cure her colleauge, but fails. In the end, both Godzilla and the man bat meet in a second battle as equals.

My idea for a Godzilla movie changes all the time, but here's what I have right now. It's basically a Godzilla/Ghidorah story. Godzilla is revealed to be true after sightings for over 50 years (he was awoken in 1954, but the US government kept the whole thing secret). As people get used to this, King Ghidorah is 'activated' and unleashed from his anciet tomb. He's still an alien, but I'd have him tucked away somewhere in Japan after landing on earth long ago. Kind of like the tripods from Spielberg's War of the Worlds. The idea is that he inspired the look of dragons all over the world yadda, yadda.

People don't like Godzilla either (especially in Japan and they dislike the US even more for keeping his existence secret all these years), but when he begins to defend their homeland from the King of Terror people begin to warm up. Not everybody likes him (crazy US army guys who invade Japan want him dead more than Ghidorah), so that's where the human stuff comes in. Study or destroy?

Well, there ya go. Viva la nerds. :xilien:

Star Wars: Nuclear Demon.

Yes, that's right, a cross over between Star Wars and Godzilla, I'm going there!

This would take place between Episode 3 and 4 during the Empire's reign. The story is is that a scientist on Coruscant in Palpatine's favor is inventing a machine that could possibly cross between space, time and even dimension. Palpatine orders him to find some source of power, with the goal of finding a new form of power in order to help secure his hold on the Galaxy as the Rebel Alliance is slowly growing. Meanwhile, Darth Vader is out on a mission, but he begins to sense a great danger is coming, a force like nothing he's ever sensed and a threat to his empire in a way he could never imagine. Palpatine would sense this as well, but he's so blinded by the potential for power and conquest that he won't see it.

The scientist finds a power, but relies that it's so vast he can't do it in his holds. So he has some of the shipping yards cleared. Using his machine, he manages to pull the source into the word. To his and everyone else's horror, the great power he pulled in is none other then a beast from another another world called Godzilla, with immence size, a deadly attack weapon with it's breath and a quick healer. Instantly, he begins doing what he does best, destroying buildings and raising chaos. The Scientist and his machine bearly escape, and Palapatine is warned at once. From then on, it's the Empire and it's great army trying to slay this beast that won't be stopped. Even Darth Vader is sent for and arrives as soon as he can.

I have this vision of Walkers and Tie-Fighters and maybe even a Star Destroyer firing on Godzilla and him just marching forward. I also see Darth Vader nearly snapping over the fact that he's been confronted by a foe he can not defeat (him going to the Dark Side to stop so he could be the most powerfull) and he litterally, armed with a Light Saber, charges forward at Godzilla and when Godzilla fires his breath, him using the Force to split it in 2 in order to protect himself.

As far as Cannon for either side, screw it, it's Godzilla and Star Wars, what more do we need.

Okay, just a simple storyline I thought up (another Godzilla/Ghidorah idea):

The world in at an uneasy peace with kaiju. Of those that survived their first encounter with Mankind, only Anguirus and Rodan remain active. Godzilla, King of the Monsters, had been given a huge dose of cadmium years ago and is currently in a comma. But it's been found that he's showing signs of waking up soon.

But it's not Godzilla who's the threat.

An alien race appears on Earth and demands the planet, threatening to unleash their super-weapon on anyone who rises against them. They totally level a small nation as a warning. Their home-world has been destroyed by a black hole and they need to act soon if they are to save their race. The world's major powers agree to fight against the aliens. When informed of this, the aliens release their super-weapon, King Ghidorah, the King of Terror. They command that Ghidorah attack the Earth. But instead, Ghidorah turns on his alien "masters" chasing them to the stars. With little time before Ghidorah returns to destroy the planet at his own free will. As the world's major powers struggle to set up defenses and devise a way to defeat the planet-killer, Ghidorah lands in Japan. But he's not alone. Anguirus and Rodan are waiting for him there and engage the golden dragon. King Ghidorah easily defeats the two ancient reptiles, but does not slay them. Instead he lets them be. Why? He senses that Godzilla is stirring and- unsatisfied by the fight the two put up- hopes to fight all three Earth Monster at once. Godzilla awakes and makes a beeline for Ghidorah. As the Monster King arrives, Anguirus and Rodan wake up and all three prepare to duel King Ghidorah. A vicious battle occurs and Anguirus and Rodan are killed and Godzilla horribly wounded. Even alone against Ghidorah, Godzilla manages to significantly wound the space demon. Enraged, King Ghidorah mortally wounds Godzilla.

As the battle occurred, the leaders of the major world powers decided to use atomic weaponry against the monsters. Ghidorah, sensing something wrong, takes to the sky and finds a nuclear missile. The King of Terror simply destroys the weapon with his gravity bolts, engulfing Japan in a nuclear storm. The huge amounts of radiation revive and empower Godzilla. In one final bought, Godzilla knocks King Ghidorah to the ground with an atomic pulse and destroys the dragon with a spiral ray. As Godzilla takes in both his victory and the death of Anguirus and Rodan, a cadmium assault is launched on the Monster King. But through his years of having it in his veins, the Monster King has developed an immunity to the substance. Now helpless, Mankind is shocked to see Godzilla simply turn and return to sea. As the Monster King sets off to find a peaceful place to call home, the world breathes a collective sigh of relief. Why they were spared from Godzilla's wrath is unknown, but it's not likely to be forgotten soon...

May have put this on the former thread, but I think it'd be cool:

Godzilla vs. Kashun

1954- Events of Godzilla 1954 occur.

1984- A second, deformed Godzilla attacks Tokyo again as a young boy named Willaim Connors (nicknamed Bill) is visiting with his family. The kaiju leave the city in rubble and Bill's parents perish in the attack.

Modern Day: Bill wakes up in a helicopter on the way to Odo Island, now an adult and military general in charge of the JSDF anti-kaiju unit. He and a few scientists examine the desamated island, finding massive footprints belonging to Godzilla, the only problem, the footprints indicate Godzilla has gotten much larger now than he was in 1954 and is more radioactive. Cell samples confirm this, Godzilla is mutating at a extreme rate and now likely doesn't resemble what he was in 1984

Meanwhile, a young psychic living at Sounkyo Gorge has telepathically befriended a creature slumbering in ice deep below the gorge, spending a great deal of time talking to her only friend.

The mutated Godzilla emerges from the ocean's depths and attack Okinawa with great fury. Bill, having a vandetta against the creature, leads the attack. Now mutated into a hulking abomination, Godzilla plows through the assault until Full Metal Missiles are used against him, damaging his heart and forcing him into retreat. However, this damage causes his heart to begin to overload, turning him into a Burning form. The creature is renamed Kashun after a God of Destruction from Odo Island myth due to the possibility his overload will trigger a blast that will destroy the world.
To make matters worse, Kashun is heading for Tokyo, intent on destroying everything to ease his pain.

The psychic informs her friend of this, resulting in it emerging from the gorge, revealing itself as a second, undeformed Godzilla. The Psychic meets with Bill and explains to him that Kashun and Godzilla are brothers, sons of the original 1954 Godzilla. Godzilla merely wants left alone while Kashun's regeneration went out of control and mutated him, driving him insane and psychotic, Godzilla, knowing his brother must be stopped, is going to kill Kashun to save the Earth, thanks to his psychic friend showing him humanity has good in them.

Godzilla and Kashun confront each other in Tokyo and begin an epic battle, Kashun keeping the upperhand due to his mutation and impending meltdown but Godzilla's speed allows him to hold his own. Kashun begins to meltdown and overpowers Godzilla, but Bill uses a tactical nuke to infuse Godzilla with a boost of power, allowing him to use a Spiral Beam to blast Kashun repeatedly and finally into the Tokyo Tower, which melts to his skin, allowing Godzilla to mortally wound him. As Kashun dies, the psychic translates, revealing Kashun was suffering unbelievible agony from his constant mutations as well as the meltdown, now that he's dieing, he finally finds peace and thanks his brother for ending his misery.

Godzilla absorbs the radiation released by Kashun's death and fires it in a spiral ray into the sky to send it into space and protect the Earth. Finally done, Godzilla takes up Kashun's corpse and takes it out to sea in order to give him peace in death. Cut to several months later, a statue of Godzilla is revealed in the rebuilding Tokyo and its revealed, in realization kaiju are only animals, not
abominations to be slaughtered, a island in the Ogasawara Islands is dedicated to be a nature preserve for kaiju, Godzilla the first resident. Bill then reveals they found a present for him on an island used for nuclear tests.

The movie ends showing Godzilla standing on shore of the island, the military bringing him an egg, which hatches in response to his presence, revealing an infant Godzilla. After nuzzling his son, Godzilla and child emit a thunderious roar as the movie ends.

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of Godzilla fighting an alternate version of himself. And the story really personifies the monsters, something that we could always use.

One of my most interesting Ideas would be this one:
Opens with Godzilla and other monsters fighting an offscreen monster (Never revealed in the film, all that's seen is other monsters being hit from offscreen or possibly hit by energy attacks) and Godzilla gets knocked out. While Godzilla is unconscious, he has a mental battle with his destructive side, represented by another godzilla with a more evil look, like the original and GMK. In the end, Godzilla realizes he needs both sides of him and wakes up, rejoining the battle.

Don't think it would work as a film, though.

I like where you getting at but your right about it not being for a movie. Seem too much like a mental mind skreeonk for most people to understand.
