The General Godzilla Suit Discussion Thread
So, which suits of the Big G do you like best?
1. The Bio Goji suit is overall my favorite suit. Freaking. Perfect...for me anyways.
2. The Mosu Goji suit (the one seen in Mothra vs Godzilla specifically.) It looked so sinister and well proportioned before it got a goofy head in Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster.
3. Finaro Goji. A bit on the thin side but I don't mind it too much.
4. Kiryu Goji. It's a neaty modified Mire Goji suit and puts on the regular colors.
5. The 1968-1972 suit. It looked heroic but at the same time, it looked mean.

1954 - Eerie and surreal, menacing and mad, classic and simple and beautiful
1989/91 - An ominous presence, intimidating, brooding, pained and outraged
1962 - A scrappy animal
1964 - Malevolence and aggression
2001 - Vicious, demonic, built for battle

1. 1954 suit - I guess you can't go wrong with the original
2. Kiryu Saga - I love the combination of Millennium style and classic coloration.
3. 1964 suit (first incarnation) - Evil expression, long claws, shaking lip, love it all
4. 1984 suit - Long tail, intimidating size, large fangs.
5. GMK suit - While at some angles the gut just looks awkward, I do love it.

Re: Top 5 suits of Godzilla
Not in a really specific order:
- Kinggoji ('62). My first Godzilla suit, and still one of my favorites. I love the more reptilian look this one has. It fits his role in KKvsG perfectly.
- Biogoji ('89). Just... majestic. Regal, yet animalistic. The whole thing is this perfect blend of King and Monster. It beat the hell out of the other Heisei suits.
- Mosugoji ('64). A bit on the skinny side, but I really like the head, and it fits his antagonist role very well.
- G2K. My favorite Millenium suit. It's a strange and radical update, but not so over-the-top that it doesn't work. I like the reptilian head, the jagged spines, the new colors... just a cool suit all around.
- There are several options that could go here, but I'll choose the GMK suit. It's far from perfect, even looks kind of bad in some shots, but overall looks powerful and 'scary' enough to make him a very credible villain for that movie.

Re: Top 5 suits of Godzilla
King Kong - Best face and a great saurian shape to the suit. The spines were very big and defined, it gave him a very animalistic look that could either be menacing or cute, almost innocent as one minute he would be melting tanks and the next he would be doing a funny little victory dance. The other Showa suits are too anthropomorphized and just can't be menacing at all to me. Whereas the Heisei and the Millennium suits go too far the other way and constantly look like someone took a piss in their cornflakes. This is the perfect Godzilla suit to me, it has that neutral animal look that allow it to go either way with heroics or destruction.
Biollante - Amazing update to the design, regal and intelligent, just overall very powerful looking.
KotM - Those eyes and that poorly defined shape make this the most monstrous suit of them all. He's got an almost evil grin through the entire movie along with those vampire fangs.
Final Wars - I really don't mind the "rat face", and I like the proportions much better than the other Millennium series. His hands in particular were much more articulate looking and I loved the gold eyes hidden in shadow.
And lastly, the Return of Godzilla cybot, which I found to be much better looking than the actual suit head.

Re: Top 5 suits of Godzilla
#1 favorite is 1973-1975, aka Megarogoji.
Next is 1964
After that, it's basically a three-way tie between the other suits from the 1960s, with the exception of 1967 which was horrible.

Re: Top 5 suits of Godzilla
Counting down from ...
No.5 Godzilla 1964 (vs Mothra) Suit. When I was younger, I knew I didn't like the eyebrows, but even to this day, it is among the most fearsome Godzilla suits.
No.4 Godzilla 1974 (vs Mechagodzilla) Suit. The Silver shean (correct spelling?) of the dorsal plates are what really attracts me to this one. Not to mention just how expressive this suit it in both vsMechaG and TerrrOfMechaG.
No.3 Godzilla 1955 (Raids Again) Suit. Mostly for sentimental (I still have my Video Treasures VHS of Godzilla Raids Again) reasons, howver, I've noticed a strong correlation between this and the Final Wars suit. Even with the non-uniform dorsal plates, it's still in my top 5.
No.2 Godzilla 2001 (GMK) I just ignore the potbelly.
And the winner is...
Godzilla 1998!
Haha! Just kidding... it's not even a suit.
No.1 Godzilla 1989 Bio-Goji! Absolutely and without a doubt!
Just look at that tail length! One that perhaps only SH Monster Arts could do just out of.
________
In the future, there are few more suits I could see creeping to my top five and they are (in no particular order):
Godzilla 1968 the proportions are good, and is the best poster boy for Showa Godzilla, however, the tail is too short for my current tastes, and their are not enough dorsal plates to satisfy the mutated monstrosity.
Godzilla 2003 (Kiryu) Suit is neat, but the long dorsal spines seem a little too out of place, and more or less unrealistic in size for even Godzilla himself.
Also, do like the overall design of the Burning Godzilla 1995 but, I just don't care for the red iris or the glowing splotches everywhere. The dorsal plate setup may actually be superior to the Godzilla 1989 suit. However, nothing really beats the head and fangs of Bio-Goji.

Also, why are people picking Godzilla 1954? He's got goofy, derpy, hand puppet eyes? Hehe!

I like Crimson Raptor for putting 1955 on his list. It just missed my top 5. I love the movie, but the suit just missed my list. I do love it though. I love the fangs.

Re: Top 5 suits of Godzilla
The Toho Eiga figure is nice! Only, they just didn't make the belly big enough. Seems just too slim to match the '89 Suit. However, i would like to own that figure one day. How long is it from the tip of the toe to the end of the tail in inches?
Yes 1955 suit is pretty cool. Fangs are what I like to see in a fearsome Godzilla suit, and the slim-downed body of 1955 helped his battle with Anguirus that much easier. The Gashapon High Grade figure is on of my favorites.

Did SH Monster Arts release a Godzilla 1989 version?
