What is your favorite piece of kaiju music?
Mine has to be King Kong's tribal theme from KKvsG. It's just got so much mystery and ominous atmosphere.
It's the second song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXR3IE361Q4

I have always loved the Kaiju Daisenso March. It's one of the few really rousing pieces in the original Godzilla, and it absolutely blossoms in Monster Zero.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

All kaiju themes bow down to that which is Highway Road.

The theme to Mothra vs Godzilla. It was also the perfect score for the battle between the two.

Very difficult choice. It's between the MvG battle theme, The Mysterians battle theme, King Ghidorah's theme, and the DAM main theme for me.

Agreed, though I'd put the TOMG theme slightly ahead of it.edgaguirus wrote:The theme to Mothra vs Godzilla. It was also the perfect score for the battle between the two.

I don't really have a definitive favorite. Mothra vs Godzilla's Main Title is right up there, though. The Mega Monster War March is also awesome. Tokyo SOS's Main Title is probably my favorite of the Millenium movies; I love those epic fanfares at the beginning and end.

Garuda's theme in G vs. MG2, and MG 2's theme.

This. It's magnificent. Loved it in "Biollante" and in the credits of GMK as well.eabaker wrote:I have always loved the Kaiju Daisenso March. It's one of the few really rousing pieces in the original Godzilla, and it absolutely blossoms in Monster Zero.
I also am a big fan of the tribal Kong theme. As well as the main theme from Godzilla vs. Gigan. "Godzilla's strong again."

By far the original theme in Gojira. The tone mixed with Godzillas roars and footsteps work well.

Akira Ifukube: Rondo in Burlesque for Japanese Drum & Orchestra
A magnificent suite derived from the 'great monster war/monster zero march' and another march which I can't remember the title of.
Listen to it. It is majestic.

The Godzilla theme itself. I love the renditions from Terror of Mechagodzilla and Godzilla vs Biollante.

Godzilla at the Ocean Floor is definitely a good one, along with the main theme. Also, no love for Godzilla vs. Anguirus (or whatever it's called) from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla? The GMK theme is pretty awesome, too.
I'm back? I guess. Haven't posted here in a loooooong time.

I'm watching Gojira now, and the theme that plays when the Bingo-maru sinks is a good one. It's short, but very powerful and perfectly accompanies the image of the burning ship going down.

Re: What is your favorite piece of kaiju music?
Electrocution Plan B from Godzilla vs. The Thing. The atmosphere the music added to that scene still sends chills down my spine. The final command is given. From the land, the air and the monolithic towers of electrifying death spread about the area, humanity throws everything it has at this menace from a bygone era in one final confrontation. Initially unfazed, Godzilla advances on, but from the sky above, powerful conductors of the the already deadly energy are dropped! The plan is working! The beast is agonized and mercilessly thrown to the ground! But alas, fate once again proves the stupidity of men outweighs their genius. With their foe cornered in its final moments, the order to dangerously raise the power is blurted out in foolish aggression. The wires and conductors holding Godzilla down are overheated and destroyed. Immediately seizing this chance of escape, the monster lashes out against its enemy's instruments of war, now reduced to worthless, pathetic hunks of metal. Ever defiant, Godzilla once again stands triumphant against its oppressors, ready to continue its unending march of death upon the earth.

The main theme to GMK is freakin' stellar.
And the original main Godzilla theme and its various incarnations.
Those two pieces of music get stuck in my head all the time.

Re: What is your favorite piece of kaiju music?
From the Showa series my favorite would have to be the main title to Mothra vs. Godzilla
The Heisei series would have to be Mechagodzilla's Theme from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2
The Millenium series would have to be the GMK Theme.
