Favorite Godzilla Era By Age

Postby o.supreme » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:56 am

Greetings All,

If the forum admins find this too be repetitive and wish to lock or remove it, I completely understand, but I'm just interested to know how the preferrence to Godzilla Era brakes down by age. There is no right or wrong. I'm just guessing that fans who have a favorite particular era are based on certain ages, of course I could be completely wrong, thus the reason for the poll.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

I think this is a very cool idea. I hope they don't shut it down.

I really like the Showa series for their "story arc" ness, but I really love the more seriousness and designs of Millennium. To me the Heisei series has just the right amount of both.

Very interesting. I'll be checking back to this thread to see the results often.

Showa for me--back when Toho had the most imagination and fun human characters!

16, but the Heisei era is not my favorite. Sure, two films I grew up with and love are there, (Destoroyah and Mechagodzilla II) but really it's the Showa era. I grew up knowing Godzilla has a hero of Japan. Though GODZILLA 2000 pretty much beats all the Showa films for me...but that wouldn't be right to base things like that. So by age, I grew up with the Showa era.

I don't have a favourite era. Heck, my top three favourite Godzilla movies are the Gojira, GvD, and GMK, one from each era. (Also the only three in which Godzilla dies... which is a bit of a strange coincidence.)

Though if I HAD to choose, I would say... Showa I guess. But only because it features my first ever Godzilla movies, thus holding the most nostalgia. It also has more movies than the others, so I guess that helps.

Age 17, though I'll be 18 in a few weeks.

A very interesting thread idea.

Age: 23
Era: Showa

Imagination, variety, sheer number of movies and monsters, and just a feeling of (mostly) lighthearted fun that the other eras tend to lack. Showa has it all. I prefer the primitive special effects of the time, too. They fit these movies well.

Era: Millenium
Age: 15

This was a very, very tough call. I was so close to voting Heisei, but Millenium just has so much more. Maybe it's just the variety speaking, but it's got such a range I just decided it's my favorite. I love both Millenium and Heisei a lot, but for some reason Millenium is my favorite. Somewhat hard to explain, as you might have noticed. I like the Showa era... but I consider Godzilla's Revenge and Godzilla vs. Megalon such stink bombs that I prefer the other eras much more. All personal opinion. Don't want the older Showa fans getting pissed off, that's for sure.

Eh, I think even the most grouchiest of people here would find it hard to disagree with you on those two.

They certainly aren't bad enough to weigh down the entire Showa series. To each their own, though. Heisei and Millenium deserve some fans, too.

When I was younger I preferred Showa, but these days I'm thinking of aiming toward Millennium. Millennium has two of my all-time favorites, but Showa has a lot of good ones.

I'm 18 and I prefer the Showa series.

It just has the classic movies. I haven't seen enough of the Hesei series to judge it, and the millennium films just can't outweigh movies like Godzilla, Mothra vs. Godzilla, Invasion of the Astro-Monster and Terror of Mechagodzilla.

I got to grow up knowing the entire franchise, in rough chronological order. I began with many of the Showa films, then was introduced to the Heisei films, and I saw the Millennium films not long after they were released.
My favorites have shifted plenty over the years, but today, the Showa films stand up the best.
