Prometheus 2

Looks like 20th Century Fox has announced that Prometheus will be getting a sequel. It seems like we might see it until 2014 or 2015. I think 2015 is likely given that Scott is already working on a different film at the moment and 2014 has enough stuff being released that year.

I hope this gets made and is not put on hold like the sequel to Predators. I knew that they would do sequels since day one because of the original plan was to release the Alien Prequel as a two-part film. I'm surprise people thought that they where only going to get one film instead.

Has the international box office been good? I wasn't aware that the US box office was good enough to warrant a sequel. Not that I'M complaining - I loved "Prometheus".

The movie made over 300 million worldwide. Given that it's a R rated film and R rated films rarely make that level of money unless they are a sequel (Terminator 3 and the Matrix sequels) or have a lot of hype (300 and The Passion of the Christ).

Yeah, it made quite a lot of money for an R-rated movie. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

My opinion has lowered slightly since I first saw the film, but I still like it. I'm interested to see what else they can do with it.

Was it a horrible film? No.... But was it a good film.. No not really... Great effects an set designs, good actors but it just didn't do it for me.. I might bootleg the sequel out of being curious, unless i see an actual ''Alien'' from the Alien series or one close in design i say why bother.

But that was the point of the movie, lead to its own franchise, have its own sequels, both "Alien" and "Prometheus" are two movies that take place in the same universe, but the later isn't supposed to limit itself because of the former (Let alone the other Alien movies).

It baffles me, really. So many generic complaints everywhere all the time about how everything is about sequels and remakes and prequels nowadays... this movie offers something different, to go its own way... and yet people just can't accept that it is not just an "Alien prequel" or an "Alien movie", or at all... And why? The Aliens are overdone, milked way too much, don't take away the little mystery they still have, instead let's see what new, original things the sequels have to offer, maybe even alternatives to the Alien like the Deacon at the end of the first one (Without having to lead into the original aliens, but rather being their own creatures).

Christ, Prometheus pissed me off.

Maybe the sequel will explain some of the nonsense the first one created.

I only saw the first one for the ending scene (the one with the alien), I cared less about anything before

It been a while since we got some news on a sequel and it looks like Lindelof won't be back for writing the sequel.

Since he won't back then I hope Fox finds a good replacement soon.

For real bro? I thought you did but then again I forgot our little aim conversation.

But anyway, the film... I liked it but I dunno if I'll say it's good. It's above okay but I dunno...

I will say IF it deals what happens in the end AND you know who that made their GLORIOUS appearance in the ending, I'll totally see this.

I will say the first one did have a good set pieces, it really did look fantastic and the aliens for the most part were good. I'm hoping they'll eventually show there are a difference between the space jockeys and the engineers, I say this because I don't want the space Jockeys to be them as I liked them more as elephant like aliens. Also I want an explanation why the original engineers were running away from whatever it was. Were there Xenomorphs running a muck, Predators seeing them and trying to steal their weapons and release something on them, or was it something else?

Oh and I want an explanation for the beginning with Handsome Squidward.

I am actually looking forward to Prometheus 2. However, my interest in P2 is due more to my love for the Alien franchise (the first AVP was good too). Prometheus looked absolutely beautiful in its sets, effects work, etc. It just looks epic and is brilliantly detailed. It's also well cast and acted. But the events and plot itself run hollow, failing to offer much new material and not really answering anything it was setting out to do. So I liked it, but because of these flaws I am fine with having Redbox'd it rather than buying it for now until the price has come down to maybe $15 for the BRD.

The truth is that the mystique and fear of the alien creature, from the eggs all the way up to the queen, has been done multiple times now and is no longer so special in and of itself. There is plenty of room for more movies in this franchise but they need to explore other elements. Prometheus was supposed to do that but doesn't do much of it. Speaking of, they should continue with the Predator franchise and it'd be exciting to see them tie the two together again in time.

Here's to Prometheus 2.

I'll see it. But I want less CGI shit and more models and backdrops. I want what they did in ALIEN and Blade Runner and less CGI THE skreeonk EVERYTHING!

... I hope it's not called Prometheus 2. The ship was destroyed. Maybe as a subtitle "Icarus, The Finding - Prometheus 2."

Well a lot of Prometheus was practical, and the sequel may be titled "Paradise".

Just a working title for discussion I suppose. I mean I'd be surprised if they actually called it that.
