lol

Could be I guess...he didn't really look like he was mocking anything, just he looked lifeless...like the suit was empty (which I'm partially convinced it might have been).

And in regards to the intelligence, just the entire movie in general he just looked like the dullest tool in the shed when it comes to Godzillas. He didn't have a personality. You didn't know if he was doing things out of confusion or with purpose, he didn't have those moments where he seemed like he was strategic about anything, he'd get thrashed by Kiryu and casually walk away expressionless like he was following seagulls. Even MechaGodzilla's unchanging face seemed to have a spark of life in him when the memories overtook him. Godzilla looked like a mummy of his former self, almost like a shark in an aquarium that just looks oblivious as it continually bumps into the glass and doesn't know why lol

He's cool, but not as cool as the original Mechagodzilla.

All of the Mechagodzillas are cool, but Kiryu is my personal favourite; not only does it have that neat 'Zoids' aesthetic, but I also really like the fact that the machine has a mind and a will of its own; it seems appropriate for a cold and ruthless reflection of Godzilla.

Kiryu in the ocean

Postby Godzilla165 » Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:05 pm

Is there a slight chance that anything of Kiryu remains? And if so... Could the military salvage those remains, and rebuild him somehow? Would you accept seeing this happen in a future Godzilla movie?

Hmmm...you mean at this point in time? Probably rusted and buried under sand, but possible.

Don't think he should come back though. His legend ran it's course.

If they did that they really didn't learn anything.

^ They DONT learn anything regardless, since at the end of the movie it's implying that they're gonna make something else with Godzilla's DNA.

They should rebuild him, just not with any bones or Godzilla's DNA.
Can't be too damn hard.

As long as the sea water hasn't damaged the controls too much, Kiryu could be recovered and fixed. Kiryu won't come back anytime soon, though.

Atomic cyborg dinosaur with missile launchers and lasers. How is that not totally badass?

I very much doubted that if the Kiryu Saga continued beyond TOKYO S.O.S. the Japanese would've made any attempt to go after Kiryu. On top of the whole not wanting to disrupt the now quieted spirit of the original Godzilla. Kiryu went deeper into the ocean than James Cameron ever has. Supposedly the mech went so deep into the ocean, a trench possibly, that sonar lost track of it and Godzilla. So a mission would be totally unfeesable, and if possible, I wouldn't be surprised that some in the government wouldn't want to risk encountering the Big-G down there if he was still tied up with Kiryu. Or even chancing waking Godzilla up while poking around down there looking to salvage Kiryu. Besides, as the post credit sequence revealed, the brain trust within the government looked like they were already at work cooking up what would be Kiryu's replacement. As the series showed, and mentioned, there were other monsters out there. Kamoebas washing up on their beach proved that. Also, Yoshiro, was being transfered overseas to the United States to assist in their mech program. So the daikaiju problem was obviously not restricted to their shores. So maybe the Americans had their own mecha as well.

The one most plausable reason I could see a mission of some kind being sent down to raise Kiryu would be something not on the up and up. The Chinese wanting to get ahold of the mech to reverse engineer it. Or some criminal enterprise like Red Bamboo, Dr. Who, George Soros ,or COBRA(from the episode of the Hanna Barbera Godzilla series, Island of Doomhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV6FAhQO9jo) would want to get their mits on that equipment.

Argh, Tokyo SOS's ending opens several new opppertunities to continue the story. Such potential!

Biollante would have made a cool addition to the Kiryu saga, especially with the shady post credits scene.

As for Kiryu, they could always build another Mechagodzilla, or even MOGUERA seeing as The Mysterians (or atleast some of it) is part of the canon.
